This is THE best fishing experience I've had in recent years. Everything about the lodge is fisherman friendly. Jeff - the owner - is as personable as he is knowledgeable, and his staff takes its lead from him. Our guide Nathaniel was excellent and enjoyable to be on the river with. The food was top notch, prepared and presented in a way that rivals the best restaurants anywhere. It was obvious from the first minutes at the lodge that Jeff and everyone there was committed to making our trip a memorable one.We enjoyed the other guests as well. All the guests shared in the fly fisher brotherhood that brought us all there in the first place. The fishing was excellent. With Nate as our mentor, it is safe to say that we experienced no fewer than 10 strikes an hour. Far from an expert, I was able to land my fair share throughout the day, most in the 18 to 24-inch range.I STRONGLY recommend a trip to the Soaring Eagle Lodge. You'll be charmed by the staff and the guests, pampered by the food and accommodations, and thrilled at the quality of fly fishing.

This was our first trip to Soaring Eagle Lodge and we were not disappointed! Joseph was extremely helpful in booking the float and getting my out of state license. When we arrived we met the owner, Jeff, who made us feel like we'd known each other for years. Brad Miller was our guide and can't say enough about the guy. Super nice and just a great guide. My wife doesn't fish but had a great day on the river and really appreciated Brad's conversation. He helped us with a trip for redfish fishing in the fall.Fantastic place, a great river experience. Can't wait to go back!

I cannot say enough about how great our fishing vacations have been at the Soaring Eagle Lodge. Jeff, Susan and Joseph catered to all of our needs. The fishing guides are all top shelf! We will never forget the great memories that were the result of the efforts of all the staff. The food and service are 2nd to none! The property is well cared for and the cabins are clean and stocked with everything you need. Thanks for everything...Lisa and I can't wait to see you next year!!

I found the Soaring Eagle Lodge online, so didn't exactly know what to expect. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. The river front location allows immediate access to a stretch of private water! The staff was incredibly friendly, caring and considerate. I was lucky enough to meet Joseph on the phone and I immediately felt a relaxed, family type vibe. He followed through by looking after anything I needed. The Chefs prepared Elk Tenderloin Medallions for dinner, need I say more?Jeff is the owner and a guide. It's refreshing to meet people and to be in a place where information and assistance is so readily available.Of course the fishing was great and made better by the people and the surroundings. A Must Visit, no matter where you've stayed before!

I stayed at Soaring Eagle on a family fishing trip. The rooms at the lodge were quite clean, with far more amenities than I expected at fishing lodge. The shop on the premises carries just about anything you could possibly need, including warm clothing, flies, accessories, etc. Our guides were phenomenal!!!!! My parents had Jeremiah Spradling and I had Cooper O'Connor. Both were super knowledgeable about fishing that stretch of the San Juan and fly fishing too. I had a friend with me who had never been fly fishing and Cooper was a very patient and thorough instructor. By the second day, almost every cast brought in a fish! The guides knew exactly what flies they were biting on. We had a lovely picnic lunch each day. Both Jeremiah and Cooper are consummate professionals with a great sense of humor and attentive to the environment, with a leave no trace attitude. I can recommend Soaring Eagle Lodge, their accommodations, their guides, their gear and their management without hesitation! I'll be back for sure!

I have been here many times over the years and can honestly say this is on of my favorite lodges in the USA. From the moment you arrive the staff is friendly, engaging and helpful. Want to step out your front door and land a couple of trout? No problem and the staff staff is happy to help get your rod rigged properly and eager to help with fly selection. The meals are consistently delicious and lunch on the river never disappoints. I’ve taken a group of 20 plus people and never had a bad guiding experience, to mention, it’s one of the best fisheries in the Southwest.Overall Jeff and his team are fantastic and I will go back again and again.

Arrived at the lodge and was absolutely taken back by the accommodations and beauty of this place. The owner Jeff was extremely welcoming, helpful and above all just made you feel as if you were his long time friend. The fishing was incredible and our guide Jeremiah was all about putting us on the fish and helping us to improve our game.I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to have a memorable fly fishing experience. Weather you’re a first timer at fly fishing like myself, novice or expert theses are the guys you definitely want to hook up with. Thanks for the fun guys. Can’t wait to do it again!!!

Larry and the staff were incredibly hospitable and gracious. The breakfast and dinners were delicious as the Chef was outstanding and very accommodating. The room was spacious, comfortable, warm and quiet. The Soaring Eagle Lodge is a short distance from all the best fishing spots so it did not take long to leave the room and begin fishing for the day. Looking forward to fishing the San Juan again soon and staying at the Soaring Eagle Lodge. Thanks, again!Best Regards,Chris

I visited Soaring Eagle for the first time a few weeks back... the third week of November. Two other guys were with me also staying for the first time. We setup a three night stay with two days of guided fishing. I can't say enough great things about our entire experience. It was exactly what we were hoping for, and honestly exceeded our expectations. Larry and his staff are really great. Very accomodating and generous people who made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. Chef Emily was no different and her food was amazing! Larry also set us up with an excellent guide, Jeff Massey. We had two very successful days of fishing and a lot of fun. I definitely plan to stay here again and would absolutely recommend Soaring Eagle to anyone.

Not only is this the best destination on the San Juan River and Navajo Lake, it is one of the nicest places we have stayed. The setting could not be more majestic. The staff, on-site chef, and cabins are 5 Star. The original owners, Larry and Leslie, were spectacular and have passed the torch to Jeff and Alicia who could not be nicer people. Jeff has been at Soaring Eagle since day 1 and is an outstanding guide. We are looking forward to the evolution of Soaring Eagle and can't wait to visit again.

The cabins where so clean and set up for the angler. The view from the cabins of the San Juan are perfect. The Chefs where awesome. The food was absolutely fantastic!! Jeff the owner is one of the coolest people ever!! It was so cool to get to talk fishing and share stories!! Being a Chef, I learned Chefs and Guides have alot in common!! Now to the fishing and Cooper our Guide, if I could give 10 stars I would. Cooper was the best part of the trip. His knowledge and Patience is a gift!! He guided us to some amazing catches! Stayed for three nights with two days of guided fishing for a group trip through the Blue Quill Angler in Colorado. Soaring Eagle has top notch fly fishing guides that know the water well, are very professional, and put us on plenty of fish. Accommodations were clean in a beautiful setting right on the river. The breakfast and dinners provided were very good and all involved with the operation of Soaring Eagle we're extremely helpful and friendly. Will definitely return and I highly recommend!

We stayed two nights at Soaring Eagle Lodge and just loved it. Great Fishing and Great Hospitality! The decor is very guy friendly but my girlfriend Bonnie was comfortable too. Larry was more then hospitable. We woke up on the morning we were scheduled to leave to find 5 inches of snow on the ground. Larry insisted we stay until the roads were clear enough to travel... No charge for an extra night. The snow plow finally cleared the road in the afternoon but it was great to know we had somewhere to stay until it was safe to travel. We will gladly return!

Stayed at Soaring Eagle Lodge for 5 nights with my father and brother in law. We are still talking about the experience! Larry and his staff are amazing! The food prepared by the in house chef was second to none, the cabins were very comfortable, and the guides provided by Larry put us on a ton of trout! Can't wait to go back!

This is absolutely the best fishing lodge I've visited in 26 years of fly fishing trips around the world. The cabins are modern and tremendously comfortable, and the chefs prepare food comparable to the finest restaurants. Larry and Leslie employ the finest fishing guides and the entire staff are professional and truly friendly. You feel like Family here and not like a guest. We Can't wait to visit again. 5+ Stars!

My fishing buddy and I visited last week - 10/12-16 and absolutely loved it. We spent one night at another lodge when Soaring Eagle didn't have rooms available. It was like night and day different with Soaring Eagle definitely the better value. Larry is an awesome host.. he has a great location and great lodge - so beautiful, and a great personality. Everyone on the Soaring Eagle staff are so gracious. The rooms were very spacious and nicely decorated. The beds, sheets and such - very comfortable. The river is FULL of big fish and loaded with fish in the 17"-20" range.. like an aquarium, you just con't believe it till you see it.Our guide Ryan was just awesome. His personality was a perfect fit to ours. He know the river and the fish and never hesitated to do what was needed to put us on them. We caught many, many fish in the 18" range. I was impressed with the lunches on the river. I broke a rod on day #2 and Larry had one ready for me the next morning. My ONLY suggestion for improvement it that the lodge could obtain a liquor license - however there are stores near by in Navajo Dam where you can easily obtain anything you might want.Wish we had taken an extra day or two to sight see in the area.

Larry and the gang at Soaring Eagle Lodge are amazing! I've never been fly fishing before so my dad and i made the trip to Soaring Eagle and I'll never go back to a casting rod! Catching browns and rainbows south of the Navajo Dam was an experience that will stay with me for a lifetime. Thanks to our guides Jeff Massey and Larry the Legend himself we caught more fish than we could imagine! The lodge was such a cool place right along side the river and the food was amazing. This is for sure the new meet up place for my brothers and I to just get away and make some unforgettabe memories with our dad!

Soaring Eagle lodge on the San Juan river is one of the premier fly fishing destinations in the US! The lodge itself being right on the water is in one of the most beautiful locations I've ever witnessed. Accommodations are fantastic and the restaurant serves gourmet breakfasts and dinners! Having both a well stocked fly shop and a game room for evening fun make this the best facility anywhere . In addition to Larry's helpfulness with accommodations , the guides are fantastic and really know how to keep you in the action for big Rainbows and Brown Trout! Ask for Tim Hibbert who knows the river like the back of his hand and can make you feel like an expert on every section of water. I've fished Soaring Eagle the last 2 winters with these guys and can't wait to get back there!

Fabulous February Fishing – Although I have fished the San Juan with the Soaring Eagle Lodge and our guide Curtis, several times, and with excellent results, I was a little anxious about inviting a close friend to fish with me there in February. Not to worry. Larry and his team at Soaring Eagle provided a great fishing vacation. The rooms are comfortable, immaculate, and well decorated in a fishing theme. The meals by Chef Michael were plentiful and delicious. Service is excellent. Larry makes sure your every need is met.The weather was sunny, clear and cold, it was mid-February, but with surprisingly very little wind. We had the river to ourselves. We were literally the only boat on the water on the first day, one of only a handful of boats on the second day and with a few more fishermen on the third day.Curtis, our guide, knows the river and the fish well. He always works his butt off to make sure you take advantage of the hot runs over and over. He’s not afraid to work hard to get his clients the best experience. The fishing was exceptional-we were catching 60 fish a day. My friend caught a 7 lb., 22+ incher; I caught a 5 lb. one to match. We landed many large fish in the 18 to 20 inch category and tons of medium and small fish. My friend and I agreed that this was the best fishing experience ever.

What a location Soaring Eagle Lodge has! Right on the banks of the mighty San Juan River, the lodge is literally steps from some of the best fishing in the country (world?). The rustic, yet modernized cabins are a perfect compliment to the rural setting of the town of Navajo Dam. The Lodge's fly shop has every piece of equipment you'd ever need, plus a knowledgeable staff to speak to in regards to current river conditions and what flies are working, where. It's hard to leave the water, but when the dinner bell rings, you forget the fish and your mouth starts watering thinking of the feast that awaits. I'd return to the Soaring Eagle any time!

I woke up early Sunday morning to go get my best friend to leave for our epic fishing adventure at Soaring Eagle Lodge.Day One:We arrived at 3pm Monday afternoon and Bill was expecting us. We checked into our cabin and "moved in". I parked my car and did not move it till we left.We had a lovely dinner, always a served at 7pm. Tonite featured a fresh salad and freshly prepared baked snapper with lobster sauce by Chef Estrella.Watching the sunset on the San Juan River, the fork in the rolling waters over deep waters were trout live. There was tomorrow ....Day Two:7am breakfast. I had Estrella's sausage gravy biscuits with green chili. Delicious. I was so excited that I was trying to rush the present moment of actually being there. Settle down ...Met the fishing guide. Let's call him Cooper because that's his name. Know that I'm not a fly fisherman. Im used to ripping faces off catfish. He took care of loading up our gear. I was loaned a Sage rod and reel from their fully equipped fly shop (it makes a difference). Cooper was extremely patient and professional. I was taught how to cast, mend, and meaning of SET!!!The San Juan River, Cooper. Soaring Eagle Lodge.True story. My best friend and I cast our presentation out with our indicators staring back at us, and we were staring back, in the zone. Cooper said "you guys don't talk much" "dude we are fishing."After hours which felt like minutes we finished for the day. We reluctantly came back to the cabin amazed. At 7pm was Prime Rib., loaded baked potato and veggies, Awesome. There were techniques, methods spoke late in to the night. Dreaming of trout.Day Three:7am breakfast. Chef Michael made me one scrambled egg with two slices of Smithfield Farms thick bacon.Got back on the river, there is Quality Waters, which flows from the dam. We fished with Tiny custom made flies for our day that where barbless. Fish are fish but I found that the trout species is very sensitive. I've fished with barbs as big as tiny flies. I find it simply amazing, now I have been taught the basics from a master.7pm: Elk Tenderloin, garlic mashed potatoes and green beans Tasty. We unfortunately had to start packing up. 3 nights and 2 days guided fishing. It wss worth it. All Inclusive.Day Four:7am: A wonderful breakfast and we hit the rode looking back and stories brewing.People are there to fish. I was there to fish. Jeff, the owner, helps veterans. The Soaring Eagle Lodge San Juan River New Mexico was the most stupendous fishing experience ever!!!It's so easy to get spoiled!
