Someone told us this ski shop had a free ski hill in the back. Sled at your own risk! We bought two sleds from the shop. Price range $30-45, depending on size. Had a blast sledding in the back!We didn’t rent ski equipment from them.

Had an extremely positive experience with the Village Ski Shop. They helped my family of six, fitted everyone for skis and snowboards, and were very patient with everyone. They are extremely fast and helpful. I would go back year after year if I had the same service. We had to watch a customer be rude and hateful to one of the employees, but they handled business very respectfully and took care of busineas. An easy 5 star establishment! Good place to pick up souvenirs as well.

Worst customer service ever, he did have what I needed $20 part. Once I pay for it wouldn’t even let me borrow the screwdriver to install it. Mind you the place was empty and there were no customers returning rental equipment. However, he was happy to sell me one for another $20, needles to say I walk out and never go back in here again, unfortunately I have to give one star.

I was going to rent from the resort but they turned us away because they did not have any equipment. Village Ski Shop was efficient and helpful. They had plenty of Skis in the busiest time of the year. The employees were all so nice and beautiful.

Our family had a great experience here. Cheaper than the resort, quick and efficient. In addition to matching the height and proficiency of each skier, they made an effort of their own accord to match our rental gear to our ski clothing. Returning took no more than 5 minutes and overnight storage was free. There’s also a fun sledding hill behind the shop!

The best people and equipment. Parking in their lot for the day is a huge bonus! Rent my equipment, walk across the street for the bus.

Will never step foot in this place again. Last year we were treated extremely rude, and I just chalked it up to getting the wrong employee. Went back today and was treated with the utmost disrespect by not one but three employees including the manager. We went at 12:30 PM and were told to come back at 2:00 PM and they would have rentals for us. We assured them we could wait, and they promised they would take care of us when we came back. When we got back later they informed us they were closed and could not serve us even though they didn’t close for another 2 hours. I was not unkind at all, and the manager was short, condescending and smart aleck to us. As we were walking out, I told my mother, “they treated us very ugly last year.” and the manager overheard me and yelled out “then why did you come back!” I’ll make sure and let every friend and family member to never darken the doors of this establishment. I get it that tourism can be tiring, but no one deserves to be treated so unfairly.

The owner is pretty dang rude, needless to say, I’d rather take my money elsewhere next time. Not to mention it’s the only shop that still requires masks, he got extremely confrontational when someone didn’t have one on. Staff was mid/okay, did their jobs okay. However their ski rack on the outside for overnight storage, they will not take responsibility for their negligence on keeping an eye on that stuff. Mostly the owner being rude. I plan to not go to that shop again.

We were first timers and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. I think all the negative reviews might be due to it being when there is a rush. They were helpful w/ our kiddos and accommodating when we had to change sizes. They answered all our questions and you can’t beat the free parking, shuttle, free storage, free sledding out back. Their system might be outdated and may contribute to the long wait. A simple filing system might help to locate customer paper work when returning may help. Also, a different entrance/ area for returns so it’s not so congested. Overall, we would rent from this place again.

Rented here with our church youth group and they were fast and friendly with our crazy bunch of teens! Would recommend and will use them again.

The staff is friendly, but not knowledgeable in the store’s policies as we were almost not refunded for turning equipment in early. The staff did not direct us to the front desk immediately to get refunded, instead told us we’d get refunded later once the rest of the equipment was turned in. The owner/manager came out and made smart remarks on the signs on refunds posted in the store with a bad attitude. In other words, he expected us, the customer, to know what to do rather than admitting his staff was at fault. Rent somewhere else.

I am experienced with more than 40 years of skiing…Staff was ok, the “experienced” guy while friendly made some faces when I asked taller skis for my daughter after he just set these up, claiming “my daughter said it was fine ….. ” my daughter does not know much though….. but they changed right away …..The younger lady was the nicest , even if she told me at first that the boots with more than one buckle was standard with the “advanced” package, she quickly brought better choices though. The major complain is that they tuned my bindings to the easiest unlocking setting, as if I was a beginner. First little bump at low speed, both skis unlocked, and I flew more than 10 feet, almost breaking my wrists and few ribs.I still suffer from it 2 weeks later and cannot use my right hand.In summary, if you are not a beginner (and still want to ski at angel Fire 😊), make sure you double check the bindings settings and check in advance what boots are included in the package you are selecting.

The equipment rentals were fine but really really terrible customer service. Guy with the mohawk was really rude to my wife. Made it seem like it was our fault he couldn’t find one of their slips when we had all our copies. He was super rude to our friends as well. Just sad that so many of them seem to hate their jobs to the point that they take it out on their customers paying hundreds and hundreds of dollars.

They were well priced, had free parking with rental, and had great customer service. They were very knowledgeable about the ski area and gave great advice. I watched them interact with the customers in the store and they were very service oriented. I forgot my helmut one day and they let me borrow one for the day without charge since they had rentals to spare. I would highly recommend them to anyone skiing in Angel Fire, NM!

Beware of this business. My family had the most surreal and unsettling experience with them. We stored my husband’s skis in their overnight storage shed. The following day when we went to pick them up, my husband took his skis which were the last ones in the shed and went to the base of the mountain only to discover that his boots didn’t fit in the bindings. He figured that someone else had taken his skis by mistake and went back to the shop to resolve the issue. Upon speaking to a worker (max with the Mohawk) he was immediately chastised and told to put the skis back because they weren’t his. My husband did so and went back in to explain the situation after which the worker told him that he would be financially responsible for his skis if he was unable to locate them. My husband then walked back to the mountain to try to try to find his skis so he wouldn’t be liable for the $1000 skis. Miraculously, my husband ran into the man with his skis who told him and presented a receipt showing that he had rented the skis that day. Upon calling the shop to ask them about this situation, the employees were insulting and rude on the phone and refused to take ownership for their mistake. If my husband hadn’t found the skis, he would have been charged $1000 for their replacement even though the shop had rented them out to someone else. They admitted that they “don’t have a system to check that people turn in the right skis after their rental period is over and that 99% of the time it all works out.” There are plenty of other rental companies to use on the mountain with better storage systems and more organized processes in place. Do not risk renting from this company.

Friendly and very accommodating. We tried two other rental shops and both were rude. Glad we found Village Ski Shop.

Business is tanking quickly. Very poor costumer service. It’s always the “ skiers lack of knowledge, rather than anything the staff could’ve done wrong. Gentlemen with the Mohawk is a complete jerk. Do yourself a favor and rent elsewhere. We’ve rented here on numerous occasions but never again.Kent

ABOUT THE COMPANY:We have rented from Village Ski multiple times in the past. Never a great experience, but it's a convenient location.Customer service is terrible now. I am a fun, tolerant, and patient person. However, if you INTENTIONALLY do something to be mean, I will correct you (I am a high school science teacher).I came to Angel Fire with my husband, our three daughters, four brothers, nephew, and my parents.Jeff was working as the door man to make sure there were not too many people in the room. When my husband, my youngest daughter, and I got up to the door, Jeff told us that we had to wait because there were too many people. We (tried) to explained that the rest of my family was in there and our reservations are together. He dismissed us and said that "it's the law".Okay, understandable.Anyway, I was cold so I told my husband that I was going to wait in the truck. Jeff butted into our conversation and told me to wait (disrespectfully). I looked at my husband in the face and said "I'm cold. I will wait in the truck."I head back to the truck and a couple of min later, my husband yells for me that we can go in. So, I jog back over there.I WATCHED Jeff let my husband and daughter in, then TWO MORE random people, but then shut the door on me. He put his hand up with the "stop" signal and said "you'll have to wait here, now because there are too many people".TO JEFF:Your behavior was 100% intentional, Jeff. I see through you. You saw and heard my husband yell for me, saw me jog over, and proceeded to shut the door on me.Due to the fact that I didn't listen to the all powerful Jeff by waiting in the cold, you felt pleasure in thinking that you were "punishing" me. Does that make you feel good? Do you feel like a big man by separating us on purpose?Jeff, being rude is one thing. We all have bad days, weeks, months, etc... and I know being rude is nothing personal. For example, I probably came off as "rude" when I dismissed your advice to wait in the cold. But, did you know that I haven't slept in three day? Did you know that I just finalized adopting one of my prior students? Did you know that I teach high school physics in class and online, both concurrently and separately? Did you know that my work hours are contracted from 8:30-4:30, but I really I'm working 6am - midnight EVERY SINGLE DAY? Did you know that part of the reason I went back to the truck was to finish answering a question for one of my special Ed kids? Did you know that I lost 30 pounds since the beginning of the school year because I DON'T have time to eat? Did you know that I have multiple break downs everyday from work/home stress? Did you know that I did all the planning, packing, shopping, and behavior management of kids for this trip WHILE juggling all of the other things?Of course not. Why on earth would you? That's why I didn't take it personally when you were initially rude to me. I don't know what was going on your life to make you that way, but I chalked it up to dealing with people all day. I understand that. But, you were something else today. You were vindictive. That's personal. You YELLED at me because I asked questions. That's personal. Here is some advice, Jeff:If you see a mom/wife who looks like she's in a bad mood and wants to "get away" (like going to the truck), but yet the husband and kids are happy and excited, it's probably because she did all of the traveling work and she's tired.TO OWNERS/MANAGERS:Village Ski is deteriorating. Employees can make or break you. Support your employees (pay them more, give them flexibility, train them, respect them as individuals with their own families, etc...) and you can turn Village Ski around. When you take care of your employees, you will get the top employees. People will be clambering for a job. Happy employees make happy customers. Happy customers spend more money. If this is something you can't do: it's time to sell your company. Maybe I can scrape my teacher salary savings together to buy/remodel/invest. How much do you want for it?

Rented here twice now. Both times they were rude, not sure if he is the owner or just manager. I paid for upgrade on equipment and got a worn out part of boots. There are other options in Angel Fire.

If there were an option to put negative stars I would. They have the worst customer service. I’ve been to many ski places and by far this is the worst place ever. The owner and employees are very rude.It took us a very long time to get ski rentals (usually rentals take about 20-30 minutes) we were there for more than an hour waiting. Their system is unorganized and disappointing.Do not rent from here.

I highly do not recommend renting from this shop. I witnessed a family in front of me trying to return their sons snowboard early because he fell and hurt his wrist and wasnt going to be able to snowboard the rest of the weekend. They refused to let him return it early and get a refund even though it was early in the day. The owner does not take care of any customer needs.

Quick to get situated with a walk-in, rentals were nice but a high ratio of staff were very unfriendly with strong attitude. Your business would benefit from some extensive customer service training. Worst experience.

I have been renting gear here for years and never had a bad experience. However, recently the gentleman with the mohawk questioned me when I informed him that the toe strap on my bindings were coming loose the entire day. I have been snowboarding for a while, but he felt that he had to remind me *twice* that I needed to clean the snow out before I put my boots in. Both times he told me this, I let him know that I am fully aware that snow needs to be cleared out before the boots are strapped in. My primary concern was about the functioning of the bindings, not my own knowledge in how to use them. Seemed fairly sexist, but what do I know? I’m just a woman.

I hate to be a downer on a small local business but my last experience here was a tremendous disappointment that will leave me renting my gear from any of the other shops in Angel Fire.My family and I were in town for Christmas and I had picked up a set of demo skis for a day on the slopes. Bear in mind that the demo skis are supposed to be premium gear for which you also pay a premium price. I didn't notice it until I was already down in Taos, but the skis were in horrible shape. The metal tip on one of the skiis was barely hanging on (missing 2 of the 3 rivets) and as a result it sounded like I was skiing on a set of maracas. Then, after two runs on the hill I stopped for a quick break and the brake assembly in the binding of the other ski completely popped out on me when I stepped out of the skis (see the picture I posted if you're curious). Needless to say, paying top dollar for this setup was not at all what I had in mind especially after I was turned away from the lift a couple runs later when the operator noticed I didn't have the required brake mechanism on the ski.I had high hopes that the Village Ski Shop would do something to remedy the situation when I came by the next morning to drop my gear off. Unfortunately, that did happen. The owner (Mickey I believe) seemed initially sympathetic and was very quick to get the broken equipment out of the view of the other customers after I had explained what had happened. With everything gone out of sight, he said I was all checked in, implying that the transaction was over. I asked him if he could do anything to make things right since my gear did not perform as expected. His response: "Absolutely Not!" and with that he walked away.I'm not one to take to the internet with the slightest grievance but what I got from this company was deplorable. With so many other options to rent gear that are within walking distance of this place, I know I will never bring my business here again and would steer anybody I know away from this place as well.

We have rented here many times and this past time was extremely disappointing. I’m not one to usually write a review but this experience was terrible. The customer service was awful and it took a very long to get skis. By the time you get your skis you might as well buy a half day pass.
