This place is excellent. They mainly only do salt water. But Robert still took the time to explain what my fresh water take needed. He even sent me home with a schedule (a treatment plan) of what I would need to do to help with the problems I'm having!Super helpful! Highly recommended!

Rob is great. Livestock selection is excellent and extremely well cared for. He's happy to special order anything you want. Prices are high, but I'm used to San Diego. So, I think that's reasonable considering he's got higher costs and lower volume sales to contend with vs a major coastal city.

Rob (the owner) is always fantastic, and all the staff is happy, friendly and very knowledgeable.The store is constantly only improving. They have plenty of coral, more inverts and a TON of fish. They tend to have a lot of uncommon frags, colonies and fish; a lot can be kept in upwards of 5000 gallons.This is my go to reef shop in Albuquerque; there is no better than Southwest Reef.

Best saltwater fish/fish supply store in town. Everyone is really helpful. They have a great supply of saltwater fish, crustaceans, aquariums, sumps, sand, and salt. Whatever you need, they have it or can get it.Sometimes, I just stop by to walk around and look at all of the fish. It is very relaxing. I always feel so calm when I leave.

Great everything! You want a high end light or pump they got it. Want a top of the line aquarium and all of the fixings they got it. Want bright vibrant coral they got it. Beautiful fish! Perfect staff! Great place!

Every time walk in SW Reef, Rob, Mike and Co. will always greet my by my first name. The very first day walked into the store, my intent was to find some fresh water options. However, Rob brought me to the light of the beauty and commitment of having a reef tank. Hooked is an understatement! They personally came to my home and set up my tank an provided personalized care and training every step of the way. Rather if by person, or phone, their staff has always been available to answer my questions and provide tips when my parameters were not quite adding up. Currently, during the COVID-19 precautions, Rob has remained open for his customers and his staff despite personal health risks. I commend SW Reef for their offering excellent customer service and I plan to continue to give them my business. I would recommended anybody who is interested in entering into the hobby or just want to see REALLY cool coral, fish, shrimp, snails, and other awesome reef critters in the NM, TX and CO areas, Rob will take care of you an your reef tank needs!

Super cool shop! They sell both fresh water and salt water!! $1/gallon!! Game changer for us newbies! Only sell salt water fish, but they have some gorgeous corals and extremely knowledgeable! Staff and owner are so kind! Thank you Rob, Richard and Raven! 🐡🐙

My family and I stopped in here once when we were staying at a hotel down the street and were contemplating buying tropical fish. We didn't buy anything, because we had no way of transporting any fish to where we then lived, which was about three hours away. However, I will say that Southwest Reef has an extensive selection of fish and supplies. The staff was friendly and helpful as I recall. It's worth dropping by sometime just to see what they have available.

Nothing but good things to say about this establishment. Been in the reefing world for 15+ years. By far the cleanest tanks I have seen. Ordered a monster of a tank 1 week ago and just got confirmation from shipping company it will be here Monday. 8 days after ordering. If you want salt water livestock/equipment don't waste your time going elsewhere

Tim works the Rio Rancho store and we couldn’t ask for a better staff! Rob even helped us when our tank exploded, and took care of our fish and coral at the RR store with Tim until we could get a new tank up and running! I always wanted a saltwater fish tank since I was a little kid and seeing the amazing reefs in Hawaii. The price was always a deal breaker for me. This store has everything you will need at great prices. Robert and his staff are very knowledgeable, very helpful and will spend as much time as you need and answer any questions you have before, during the set up and upkeep of your tank. I appreciate the time they took with me, went over everything and got me set up with my first tank.
