This grocery store is terrible. It is terribly in need of a renovation, first and foremost. I can recognize fixtures from when I was a kid. That's how long it's been since they've remodeled inside the store. The tiles are old and scuffed and just look plain trashy, with some of them even coming off in some places. It's just a hideous looking store, which reflects poorly on the South Valley. The parking lot is in dire need of repair. There are potholes everywhere. The south side of the store has the worst of it, as the asphalt is becoming gravel and its like navigating a war-torn street. Rehab that parking lot! It needs it badly! Recently, they put a fresh coat of paint on the parking spots, but it's so pointless because the parking lot still needs work.The customer service here is lacking. The ladies at the self-checkout clearly hate their lives. They're always indifferent and grouchy when they have to come help with an issue with the touchy machines. I can understand in our current society why they think everyone is a thief, but at the same time, they scope you out like you're going to steal. There's always a lack of registers open as well. Something that's part of our new normal in all stores it seems, and this store is no different. They usually have one cashier for the entire store. It is awful during peak times.Every once in a while I encounter a hazard. Such as one time when there were shopping carts literally blocking parts of the store, which you can see from this picture I attached. Stuff like this is dangerous. I don't know what they were thinking during this particular day. But, it's a hazard.I only come here because its close to my residence. Other than that, I'd avoid it at all costs if I could. Management needs to fix a lot of things with this dump. Bring a little pride for South Valley residents who shop here. It's a depressing and terrible place all the way around.

I have never been so uncomfortable while shopping like I experienced at Price Rite. I was literally followed throughout the whole store by the Lp (Loss prevention) officer. I was so humiliated by their actions but I was just happy knowing that they were after "me" the "wrong" guy the whole time. Let me say this..... This is probably the 4th or 5th time that this has happened at the exact location. Actions are critical so be sure to see what is happening all around, every minute of every day. ;-)

I would’ve gotten her name but I was afraid to get too close to her. So whoever the bigger, rough looking woman is working the self-checkout area Valentine’s night… she’s awful. Loud, obnoxious, abrasive, and incredibly rude for no reason. Even got to see her hock a loogie into the trash like a damn cowboy. Impressive distance though.2 instead of 1 star because everyone else is usually polite and helpful.

Very loyal customer I shop here every day if not multiple times a day. I was using self check out as I always do. It gave me an error and I told the worker that I accidentally scanned the wrong barcode and put it in there. She didn’t listen to me. She started counting the stuff that I had in my bags instead of watching the video that’s on there and I said ma’am if you watch the video, it’ll show me putting the box in there that I just had in my hand right here. I just need to scan it to get going. She said yes that’s why we have videos. She never looked at the video once she was just counting the items. I told her yeah I shopped here every day. I know how it works. It caught it on video that I accidentally scanned the wrong barcode. I’m trying to scan the right barcode if you just put your code in, she walked off to the security guard said that’s why I’m glad I’m almost off in a few hours. Her name is Samantha. I don’t understand why she was so rude after I clearly told her I made a mistake and I needed her to help me.

Smiths!??? I have a couple of questions!! I am an honest customer just trying to shop here, as I always do. I have always shopped here and so has my entire family. But i do have to share my experience from today simply because it was horrible.First off, let me start off by saying you do have some amazing people working here, but the two i dealt with today are just plain rude!I came in today to buy some sodas, and to ask some honest questions about how to use the digital coupons on the Smiths App. I spoke to the cashier Brenda,who was no help at all. She was very rude and made me feel dumb for asking these questions. (Which is not very different from her usual rude. And I do understand no one loves their job, but a simple smile goes a long way. At least we would feel welcomed😕).I finally spoke to manager Matt, who was even worse than Brenda. Yess, it goes on. He made me feel even worse, by suggesting that i also did not know how to use the app and that he didnt know what to tell me.All I wanted to know is how to use the digital coupons on the app, that was all. And I was treated absolutely rude. I can not imagine how you guys treat everyone else. Like someone with a language barrier!? I mean you guys are in the South Valley where a lot of people speak only spanish. My parents for example. So please step up your customer service because it is absolute garbage.MUCHO CUIDADO MI GENTE, QUE AQUI LO TRATAN A UNO BIEN MAL. Smiths does not deserve a star. Without identifying as such, a supposed "security guard" will attack shoppers they suspect, without evidence, of stealing. After beating and bloodying a shoppers and then seeing they were wrong, security (Brian M.) and management (Stephan) claim they can assault and batter if they want.

The store was originally a Price Rite and is now part of Smith's. It's an older store in the South Valley. The interior is not as nice and its inventory is more limited than other Smith's stores. For instance there's no deli section or meat counter. The staff is great.

I was shopping with my wife and son at the 1601 Arenal Rd SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105 location on October 1st, 2023. My son had an accident, so I went to retrieve the diaper bag from the car. When I returned I found the management team in order to figure out what the grocery store offered regarding a changing station. The manager indicated that my diaper bag was against store policy, and that it should be placed on the ground next to the door. I was allowed to take the diaper supplies out of the bag. I made sure to follow the directions considering store theft is a real problem in Albuquerque.My partner decided to change the diaper and waited in line to pay for our food. Then I saw the security guard kicking my bag around the floor. At the same time I was seeing other people with bags that are similar to mine go through the check out. I made a complaint with the management team who just indicated that the security guard is not their employee. The security guard indicated that I should of left the diaper bag in the car.It seems like Smith's policy regarding bags is not enforced across the board. The employees pick and choose who to hassle.It looks like the bag policy impacts dad's that are trying to clean up their soiled toddler with a disability .This experience was shameful. I would recommend going to a different part of town for your grocery needs. The South Valley Smith's location is a lower class store. It is possibly the worst grocery store in all of Albuquerque. It is definitely the most unhygienic.I have shopped around at Smith's in all of Albuquerque. This location seems to continue to best worst location. The place is disgusting. The bathrooms are the worst in all of Albuquerque. Their deli hot food section is next to the bathroom. It is poor sight for eyes. You can tell something is not right. Their meat section is nasty. The meat looks grey. The reason why people do not eat fruit and vegetables is because they shop at places like South Valley Smith's. I am a healthcare professional that focuses on nutrition in the South Valley. I will have to recommend your competitors.

This store is always clean and tidy. The staff are friendly and keep it well stocked. The produce is always fresh and we'll stocked. I like the watering system for the produce. It plays thunder before it waters the produce.

I have been coming to this grocery store for some time. The past couple of times I’ve went they have been very rude for absolutely no reason it’s truly sad, they ignore you at the self checkout and look you straight in the eyes and completely ignore you if you kindly ask for help . I called to speak to the manager and I got hung up on. Pore customer service!!!! Hopefully Albertsons will be better.

The manager there acts like a child. Saying he wouldn't put the food on my EBT card. When it was him that had a 56 year old women cashiering "I can't sell liquor I don't have my certificate."I stepped out of line to purchase my liquor. The cashier puts my order on my debit card. When asked manager to reverse it. He would do it. Why????the store wasn't losing money...but because He did that I took back all the food I bought and got my cash back nonetheless the store lost.

Don’t shop here! Go to a different smiths! The employee running self checkout was awful. Wasn’t interested in doing her job, wasn’t helpful when I called her over asking for help about the app to get the deals, was yelling at other employees across the store, and was eating chips and dip instead of working. When I got home, I noticed that i was charged $12 for a bag of cherries even after she said the deal went through. I would have left everything had I known the deals weren’t applied, the only reason I visit this store is for the deals. I usually like this store, but I will not be returning after this experience. An employee like that should be stocking because she clearly doesn’t care about customer experience or correct pricing.

I have shopped at this Smith's since it was PriceRite, many years ago. This is a well organized store, and suffered exceedingly few shortages during the pandemic. They have recently increased their stocking space by utilizing the area over their top shelves, and this place is loaded. They consistently have the kindest, most helpful employees I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. You want a great shopping experience, go to Smith's at Arenal and Goff . You will be glad you did!

The good thing about Samantha says that carry a certain things that a lot of other stores do not carry. The biggest problem with Smith's is their technology is so far behind like their cash machines or registers. The lines take forever in checking out. The other bad thing about sniffs is their prices are just too high almost of their stuff unless you shop directly for sales

Was already struggling before the pandemic but it hasn’t even gotten back to that standard. Understaffed, dirty, always missing something. It’s close to my house, so I’ll still go there for quick things and even then I either can’t find it or I’m waiting in self checkout for 10 minutes. I generally go to Albertsons on isleta or rio bravo or even up smith’s on central and coors if I’m gonna grab a few things.

I love this smith's been going there for years but...... they close way to early then there scheduled time I think the doors should not lock until that clock hits 10pm. I work late and I depend on the time it says it closes but the employees decide to close when they want. But I have noticed they do let certain people in and say no to others.

Melissa is an 😇 Angel. The BEST Employee you've got. I was having the worst time because my pin was not going through. So me and my husband were debating what to put back so we could put back. Quickly and Quietly she went into her own wallet and paid for our food. Now I personally started to cry because this makes me realize that there is GOOD PEOPLE OUT THERE. I can't express how much this ment to me. She should be EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR. It's very seldom that I come across a person with a heart of gold. I can't express how much this means to me otherthan writing to the company and telling them she went above and beyond of her duties. Thank you Melissa if you can read this. The store has just become a mess and the employees have no idea what’s what. The produce is often rotting and the employees either overlook it or just ignore it. The lines are ridiculously long and by the time you reach the front the cashier is angry or just completely rude. This last time I was there the chicken juice was just running onto the other meat packages and the meat wasn’t packaged properly.

Store is small and old. Has limited amount of most items. Virtually all items are packaged with no service. No service meat, or deli. Smith's at Coors/Central or Albertsons at Rio Bravo are the full service stores closest.

Produce is always fresh. I usually find great deals in the bargain bin. Great local grocery store with a nicely stocked liquor area. Recently purchased a perfectly sweet, non-bubbly bottle of pink wine.

Go maybe once a month. Normally find what needed and some. Only thing is they are always super busy and very long lines. You'll have maybe two cashier's and then self pay check outs. The thing here is you have more workers standing chatting by the self checkout lines with long lines forming when they could be checking people out to avoid these lines and push people out faster. It's like holiday shopping lines all year long and daily basis.

My favorite 'Smiths'!! I'd prefer to go here rather than anywhere else even the big Smith's. Workers are usually friendly. Excellent produce and meat. I especially like their clearance meat and other items. I like this store!

This store never has anything, if they do they, have the most random things plus they harrass me like if I'm shop lifting! I go there everyday I'm not goin to steal plus all those cameras u would figure ther watching me right?. well apparently not, they would see for there godam selves Im not the 1 they should be worried about.. if they pay too much attention to one who don't seal while the theives are getting away with what they want right behind us as they focus all on the wrong one
