If I could give them zero stars I would, I don’t trust them with our dogs at all. The owner was snarky when we approached her. IF YOU SEE THIS DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG THERE!!! Especially if your dog is higher energy. There facility feels like a pound like setting and they can’t control all the dogs they “take care of”.

I love Cottonwood Pet Resort! My boss and friend referred them to me and I am so beyond thankful. Sherri, the owner, is the most understanding and calming person I've met. The staff are all extremely helpful and friendly. If I have any questions or concerns, they all can address it. They have a large area for the dogs to run, they keep the same sized dogs together (unless requested otherwise), they have small houses for thr dogs to cool down in with AC and a light, and Sherri does dog training. I have two dogs that are kept together and whenever I need to go out of town, I trust Cottonwood Pet Resort. I can see the difference in my dogs taking them to this resort versus letting a friend watch them. Cottonwood takes their time with each dog, plays with them, loves them and they will even send you picture updates if you ask. I highly, highly recommend this resort. When I first dropped my dogs off I was so nervous and so scared, but Cottonwood has made such a difference. My dogs arrive there excited and come home happy and tired.

Absolutely LOVE Cottonwood Pet Resort! We are about to leave the country for 3 weeks, and they have made all our worries and any anxieties fade away. We feel so comfortable in knowing she will have the best time with her fur friends and receive the best care from some amazing humans. Feel blessed and grateful to have found Cottonwood, and so is Beansy:)

Such an amazing team. My dog is a little crazy at times so i will admit i am overly cautious with who watches him. They definitely made me feel confident that they will be able to take care of him. All i can say is i wish i did this years ago. My corgi absolutely loves this place and the people that work there. I like how excited my dog gets every time we drive near it but when we pull up he cant get out of the truck fast enough. He is all smiles and forgets that i am still there. haha. I know he absolutely loves this place and the look i get when i ask if he is ready to go there is says a lot. Thanks for everything.

WARNING to Doodle-breed parents this holiday season: Sheri no longer takes any type of doodle breed (labradoodle, goldendoodle, etc) due to a “doodle crisis” across the nation, or so we were told. I would love to hear if she has booked your doodle recently.This conundrum sparked after we picked up our 25lb labradoodle, Ziggy, from a two week stay. We had just had a child and were at home visiting family. When I picked Ziggy up he looked like he had been attacked, a large gash in his forehead with dried blood, multiple bruises on his belly, and marks on his eyes. I was understandably upset and Ziggy seemed traumatized. When I called to ask what had happened Sheri was not there and the employee on the phone had no idea, first warning sign they hadn’t been watching him closely (as they guarantee on their website). The employee “reviewed camera footage” and called me back a few hours later ensuring nothing had happened on camera. We ended up getting seen by an emergency vet in Ruidoso who agreed the marks resembled an attack and prescribed antibiotics due to the open wounds.Whether Sheri or her staff saw what happened, even if it was an accident, what is so disappointing was how much time passed that they did not even notice he was hurting and left an open wound on his head with dirt and dried blood all over him that could’ve led to a serious infection.We were refunded for the trip due to the emotional and financial stress we went through but effectively “black listed” from Cottonwood for standing up for Ziggy and his health. This is where Sheri tried to blame the “doodle crisis” saying they do not have an “off switch” and play too hard with other dogs and she will be enacting a doodle policy immediately. Ziggy is the kindest, quietest dog I have ever met.We have used Cottonwood before and had fine experiences but I truly believe Sheri is overwhelmed and taking on more than she can handle to profit while neglecting the animals in her care.

Phenomenal! Cottonwood Pet Resort is my ONLY option to house my furbaby anytime I go out of town! The staff and owner are incredible. I know my dog is in great hands whenever she stays there.Cottonwood also offers services like grooming and training courses! They are amazing and worth every dime!

Wonderful, caring staff. They made every effort to ensure our dog was comfortable and cared for. They sent pictures of our dog playing with the other dogs, which gave us peace of mind. We will definitely use their services in the future

We’ve been looking for a place to board our corgi for an upcoming trip, and this place takes the cake. The staff works with you beforehand to see if your pet is comfortable with staying for extended periods of time, which we thought was a good idea since our corgi is 50/50 with other dogs. She also had a grooming appointment afterwards which was supper convenient.

Absolutely loved Sherry and her team.This review is long overdue… we since moved away, and so we didn’t realize how good we had it at Cottonwood. Always prompt with replies, sending pictures and updates about our two dogs. We always felt the doggos were well taken care of and had plenty of activities to tire them down. We miss having this boarding facility in our lives, it’s hard to find such a well thought out and personalized place.

This place is outstanding. Such happy people, great play area and the dogs and cats get to play the whole time rather than spending the entire day in a kennel. They also require that all dogs have their shots, including kennel cough. When you walk in, it never smells like dogs marked their spots every where. My dog loves it here. Only downfall is that it is so darn full all the time so you can't get in on a regular basis if you aren't an everyday visitor.

Cottonwood Pet Resort always exceeds my expectations! The staff is cheerful, patient, and knowledgeable. Our dog, Banjo, loves to spend the day there and also spend longer periods if we are out of town. I never worry about him. In fact he loves to go and play with his friends. I commend Sheri for the organized, safe, and caring environment. It's amazing how Sheri and the staff can remember the individual dogs. The consistency of care warrants more than 5 stars!

I had to travel from Elephant Butte, NM for surgery and we could not leave our chihuahuas in the car. I found Cottonwood Pet Resort and it truly is a resort. The caretakers are so kind and professional. We now know where our go to place is in Alamogordo! Many kudos and thanks to you all.

My 13 year old lab stayed for two weeks while we were put of town. I had never left him with anyone other than a friend for that long, but I would absolutely leave him with them again! Sherri and her team were great. They always sent updates and pictures of my boy when I asked. Sherri was so loving with him. And I love that there was a separate area for the older dogs. I'd highly recommend boarding your dog here!

Absolutely will always recommend Sherri and her crew to anyone looking for boarding, day care, etc. for their pups. They make my little ones feel right at home, its a struggle to get them to leave sometimes. Very knowledgeable, caring, and accommodating staff. I know my pups are taken care of and never have to worry.

I had to go out of town for a week and kenneled my Chihuahua here. When I came to pick him he had a hole in his ear, very skinny, and had diarrhea with blood in it. When I sent Sheri a picture and asked her what happened, she did not respond for several hours. When she did, all she had to say was that he was playing with small puppies that had really sharp teeth and that she had stuff there to doctor it up. The pictures that she had sent there was no pictures with puppies. Dogs that were way bigger then him. When she told me that he would be with dogs his size. So she lied that about that one. I wasn’t going to take him back so she can doctor it up cause she should’ve done that when it first happened. I was not notified of it happening whatsoever. I took him to the vet. He has a touch of kennel cough, his ear is infected, and his lymph nodes are swollen from him having diarrhea. They even told me that he didn’t get the care that she told me he was getting. I would not recommend kenneling your dogs here.

The staff are all so friendly, generous, prompt and helpful, and go above and beyond for the animals here and it's clear that they love every animal that walks through the door unconditionally. I'm so glad I was referred to them and wouldn't consider bringing my dogs anywhere else now. They were a tremendous help when I needed someone and I'm incredibly grateful.

Amazing kennel for our two dogs, Lab Mix and German Shepherd.One issue is that our Lab had small tear on her ear. Probably from another dog. Looks like the team aided to it and maybe even glued it closed again.Thanks for all of the extra services and the great care to our animals. Although we wished you would have given a heads up about her ear 😔

The staff is always very nice and the facility seems to be kept very well. My German shepherd HATES being boarded, at other locations, but she is always happy to go here. She gets excited when we park the vehicle and jumps out of the car to get inside, which is a wonderful thing. The owner is very good with each animal and seems to pay personal attention to each one. Would definitely recommend for daycare and any length of boarding.

We do not like to board our dogs. We usually try to take them with us. However, PCS house hunting across the country does not allow for that. Cottonwood is under new ownership as of Oct 2017, if I'm not mistaking. This new ownership is phenomenal and super military friendly. They are military and understand. The wife, Sherry, is just hands down the best dog person I've ever met. She is a dog trainer now and great! They care about your dogs. Apparently one of mine was sick at drop-off unbeknownst to me. They took care of him like he was their own. Not only that, they've followed up. They care a lot. She also has 4 or 5 contracted groomers that are on-site throughout the week. If you need to board....go to CottonwoodThey have inside and outside kennels, runs, condos and lots more!

The staff at the Cottonwood Pet Resort is wonderful. They have gone above and beyond to accommodate my pets and my busy schedule and have earned my trust and patronage. I have four animals and frequently travel for work; never a bad experience, and always feel comfortable my animals are in good, caring hands. I’m also extremely appreciative of Cottonwood’s flexibility; never a complaint if my trip runs long, or if it cancels and I have to pick up my pets early.

They treated our dogs like family. Because our dogs had never been boarded before, they asked us to bring them in for a couple hours of playtime at no charge so they would feel a little more comfortable. Groomers are on premises. So are dogs came home smelling great. Place is very clean. We will definitely be taking our dogs back for play dates.

Our dog has stayed several times. Every time we pick him up he isn’t ready to leave and wants to go play some more. I will always recommend them. They are professional, friendly, clean, and very good at what they do. Our first visit they gave us a full tour, gave us a detailed explanation of how they run their business, showed us where he would sleep, the whole thing. Our dog knew where we were when we parked this time and pulled us in the building. It’s a great place.
