Love this ShopRite, in terms of its proximity to Total Wine, Macy’s Back Stage…and their grocery options. The bakery, deli, produce, meat, fish section, halal and kosher sections are always up to par; and all of the staff is friendly and accommodating. I’ve found the halal/kosher chicken to be of a higher quality in taste and texture, and sometimes I prefer buying from that section.Oh, and the pistachio muffins are nice.

... Just trapping African Americans with some false sense of savings, quality, and service. Due to the snowstorm, I had little choice but to shop here. If my people just stop patronizing all these local Shopwrongs, WAKEfern management would actually have to WAKE up and make radical changes. You folks don't understand a decent quality/service SR until you visit Brookdale ShopRite in Bloomfield. Then come back and rate this place. There are very few, if any, people of color working or shopping there. Please explain to me why quality and service are so directly associated with ethnicity? The SR in Livingston profiles black people relentlessly. It's a problem that No Woke Management at SleepFern will ever address.My husband ridiculously ordered online here last week and spent $207. Half the things were wrong or not needed they refused to take the perishables back 5 hours after delivery. Check out the green pepper they delivered to us last week. It's Green and Black.Nice, right?Right...SUPPLY VS DEMANDFirst off, the fresh spices are never, ever in stock. Suddenly, Chobani Yogurt has also disappeared. The farmer market on Rte 10 has better quality, quanity, and cost for spices, basic fruits, and vegetables. It's not Wegmans quality, but it's better than this place. Unfortunately, It's not close.ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE MEETS EXHAUSTING RUNAROUND:You have to beg for help. I thought for a moment about just leaving the $172 cart at SCO and walking away. The runaround tonight was relentless, all for a digital coupon that should require no effort. Like Wegmans, Kings, Stop and Shop, Whole Foods, etc, just give it to me. They apparently removed the kiosk for the dumb coupon loading. The young man at the self checkout sent me twice to an empty corner to find the kiosk. Not once did he consider actually showing me... maybe then he would stop sending customers on a wild kiosk chase. He was far too busy chatting it up with his coworkers. Forcing me to go to the ignorant customer counter TWICE!The 2nd trip to the CS counter (because my time doesn't matter. After all, Im just a person of color) :"I'm trying to help you she snaps!"Me: Really? You volunteered to enter my phone#, and then you obviously fumbled it, and when i returned for the 2nd time to have you do it AGAIN AGAIN, you catch an attitude and imply I did something wrong.Are you delirious?8 minutes I spent going back and forth over this digital coupon, and then I finally pulled the tag off the shelf. Then, I was forced to pay for the product at the CS counter while my full cart sat waiting at check out. Is this efficient? Is this service? You're wasting my time, FOOLs!BROKEN PROCESS AND TECH:Moving on, then it's the ridiculous self-check out, which fails every third scan (fix your broken tech) and forces the customer to put a ton of items on the tiny little shelf only to have to bag it all. It's a faulty process that doesn't prevent customer theft. What is the point of the 3 step check-out process? None of this is done at any other self check out... just shoprite.Exhausting disregard for customer's timeBroken Checkout ProcessBroken Technology (and they know this).Low IQs + Zero Customer Services (a very bad mix)Supply/Demand...Lack of inventory (no matter the hour)No longer cheaper than Wegmans!And if you're not paying attention, they will charge whatever they feel like. Online the ground turkey was one price, it rang up at a higher price...and the shelf price is blank.I reshopped today at Kings. I'm actually treated with care there. I just can't give my pearls to swine anymore. Then i hit Farmers Market for the fresh spices that this place never has. $20 bucks for 7 spices, 7 gala apples, 3 peppers, shallots, honey, and an onion (see photo). The spices are individually wrapped ($1.49 each). Look, mom nobodys nasty hands on the spices.Shop Rite ? Ha!You've got nada on the Farmers Market, Wegmans, or any other food market that delivers consistent quality and services and respects and cares for ALL peoples!

This was my go to ShopRite. I live in West Orange so naturally this location is just convenient. I normally never had any issues here until recently. I was doing a late night food run since I work full time and couldn’t go during the day. It was close to closing time, I would say it was maybe 20 minutes till close. I was constantly being harassed by the security guard as he followed me around warning me that they were going to close. I was pretty much done with my order and just needed to get a few more items (Milk, ice cream, cheese, butter etc) I get these items last since they are cold items and want them to stay cold until getting home. So since this security guard would not leave me alone I was running around like a crazy person trying to get my last few items. I then had to go to the “check out yourself” line because there was no staff able or willing to scan my items. I was literally being watched by multiple staff members and 2 security guards since it was close to closing time and they wanted me out. Keep in mind I was not the only person left in the store. There were other shoppers getting their last items as well. So I was basically being rushed to scan my entire order. Certain price plus items were not coming off and I couldn’t even address it because everyone wanted me out. I understand it was near closing time and everyone wanted to go home, but it was not closing time yet. I still had a good 10-15 minutes till the store actually closed. The fact that they rushed me and literally watched me the entire time making me feel super uncomfortable was a huge disappointment considering this location was my go to store. All the items that didn’t come off as sale items I had to come back another day and go through customer service to get the discounts I was due. It all was just super unnecessary and uncomfortable. The next time I have to do a late night order I’ll just go to the 24 hour location in East Orange and that’s saying a lot since that location is just an overall mess.

They never answer the phone. Nasty all flavor than hang up on u. If they do not want a word they need to hire some other people and get rid of them. This is said. Poor customer service as well as I'm Blame the owner and GM to allow their employees to sit there and hang up on people and not answer the phone at 1. This seems to be a beautiful story. Seems like they went downhill. Rotten nasty customer service.

I just want to start off by saying that I’m never the one to leave bad reviews about something but I am so furious with the customer service at this particular location. Yesterday 4/17 I was shopping with my children, everything was fine until it was time to check out. I approached the self check out line and asked the young lady standing there if I can check out there and she informed me as long as it was “20 items” or less I was ok. I proceeded to scan my items and the front end worker by the name of Mark aggressively approached me stating that I could NOT check out there because I had more than 20 items. I told him that I did not and that I was told I could check out here, he then asked me “was I sure that it was less than 20 items”? I told him he could count it if he wanted too (which I shouldn’t have even had to go through this) he became extremely rude and sassy and told me no he’s not counting anything and told me I shouldn’t be there. I asked him why are you going back and forth with me? He told me that he was a “grown man” and he can say whatever he want! I was in complete shock at how the entire situation went down so because I was with my children and they were watching me I ended the conversation and asked for a manger he yelled and stated “I am the manger” ! I walked to customer service and asked a lady to please call someone else. A manger by the name of Tony came and while I was explaining the situation, they guy mark was still yelling and talking about what happened. Tony said he would speak with him at a later time but told me that Mark was in charge of the front end. I completely understand that but there is a way you speak to people and how to handle situations and if this is who they choose to run management this place will run to the ground. Mark was terrible and his attitude was unnecessary. I will be reaching out to the higher ups about this issue as well

The outlet is well-maintained with courteous staff, offering an abundance of fresh products, although they tend to be pricier than Walmart. Additionally, ample parking is available.

Several months ago I purchased an enclosed salad from this particular store and I got sick(vomiting, upset stomach, fatigue, etc. I came into the store the next day and reported it. I was told that someone would contact me and to no avail. I stopped into the store quite a few times as I frequent this location being that I also reside in the township. The staff is lovely especially the Customer Service department. I gave a one star review due to not being given the courtesy of a call back. Horrible.

I went to this ShopRite which store hour states they close at 11pm. Was at the door 10:57 to pick up one item for my toddler and the security would not let me in. The lack of customer service at this facility is unacceptable. Customers are not being kicked out exactly at 11 so I don’t understand why doors were locked. I hate to pull the race card but, I’m sure i would’ve been let in if i was of different ethnic background.

This ShopRite has terrible service. I can’t ever come here without being profiled or watched while checking out. I’ve been questioned about if I’m stealing over the past few months of going here three different times and I’ve been coming to this ShopRite for years. Not sure what’s going on recently. When I’m checking out, employees get closer to myself and my family member as if we need to be monitored. Also treated very rudely when trying to check out with a family member while using the same cart in self check out. Totally understandable to be told “20 items or less” (I had under twenty items) but to be told “I don’t care” after explaining that they were separate purchases is not okay. Every time I come here it’s increasingly frustrating and unpleasant to check out.

This Shop Rite is nice because it has plenty of organic produce and plenty of plant based options. However, I purchased plant based cream cheese only to learn that it's expiring in three days.Please check dates on your items before selling them. I do not live in this area and am not coming back anytime soon to return rancid cream cheese. I'll just toss it in the garbage and count my loss, which isn't cheap when it comes to plant based.Also, I walked all over the ShopRite three times and couldn't find tofu; or anyone who could help me find it. Where are your helpers?The aisles could be labeled better because there were many other common things I couldn't find. After walking back and forth several times, I just gave up. It's large, but also over-crowded and apparently shoppers don't read labels because if you pause for a second, you're in the way of others and they get aggravated. Had it been less crowded, I would have been able to read labels and learned that the plant based cream cheese was expired.Shoppers need to learn to have patience with each other.And Shop Rite, please hire help to check expiration labels.

The people who work at the customer service is very accommodating and friendly even if they are busy. The store itself is antiquated compared to the other shipwright stores I have been to. They offer a great deal of selection of already made food. My go to there is the sushi. It’s so good for a cheaper price compared to the restaurants.

This is the second time in a month that I have gone to this store and had an issue at the checkout counter. Both times the clerk didn’t bother to help bag my groceries before proceeding to checkout the next customer. The first time she asked me to get out of the way to let the first customer out after she checked him out and got his groceries bagged. The second time she asked and I gave her a small bag and asked her to put the rotisserie checked in it. After that she just proceeded to check the other customer’s groceries out never asking if I wanted more help so I could get out of everyone’s way. Then she put his groceries so close to mine that they could easily get mixed in and he might have gotten some of what I paid for. She had no problem with helping him bag so I had to rush and try to stuff everything in my cart so I wouldn’t get called out again to move.Not only do we need to bring our own bags but we need to pack everything ourselves in a timely manner so as to not inconvenience the clerk? In addition, she was chatting with the customer before me when I was standing in line and when I put everything on the counter I tried to squeeze past my cart to get in front of it and she told me I wasn’t allowed to do that because he wasn’t finished. When I told her I was just trying to get in front of my cart to pack my groceries, she rolled her eyes at me and gave me a dirty look when I asked her why that was not ok. So, evidently it was wrong for me to try to position myself during his transaction but it’s ok to check out another customer while I’m still packing my groceries away.From now on I’m making sure I don’t put my credit card into their machine to complete my transaction until I’m completely packed up and ready to go. I don’t care who’s waiting. If they can be rude then so can I. This is the only Shop Rite I’ve ever had an issue with and there are plenty in the area that I’ve gone to.

Local ShopRite with a variety of products. Prices seem competitively priced. Lines can get long during busy times os the day. Don’t be surprised if you can’t find granulated white sugar as all I saw was the confection white sugar. They did have the granulated can sugar which a good alternative. Facilities is clean and staff are helpful.

This is a huge and seemingly brand new Shoprite that is very nicely decorated with hangar-like ceilings. All the goods you expect are here at the prices you expect. I didn't try them, but the onsite bakery and prepared food bar look very good. Staff are very nice too compared to other Shoprites (ahem, looking at you Livingston Shoprite!).

From my experiences thus far - mostly online shopping and picking up at the store. Friendly staff, if something is wrong they'll try to help fix it. That being said, their program could be a bit better. You won't know until you pick up your order if something is out of stock, and even with the in stock items, I find produce isn't that fresh and if you order milk you get one that will expire fairly quickly. They have some programs with partners to help take care of the service fee of $4.99, but every time I've tried to meet the spend levels, items are out of stock and I end up being charged. Overall not a terrible experience if you need to get non-produce/milk items as they have windows open up fairly quickly, but I've been trying other stores/services and having a bit more luck on getting everything from one place.Updated as of 08/2022 - In store shopping is pretty typical, usually busy but with self check out lines move decently fast. Standard shop rite experience overall.Updated as of 02/2024 - Customer Service is great! Really friendly and helpful over my last few visits, with price matches and errors with ringing up my purchase. Helpful enough to warrant raising my review by a star here. Thank you!

The fruit and veggies are always fresh. But... I like this supermarket because of the sushi and the bakery! 😍😋I was a little bit unsure about the sushi the first time because I really didn't know how long was the sushi there. But... I decided to try and.. OMG the best sushi! Super fresh, tasty... if you like fresh sushi and you don't have time to travel far for sushi??? Definitely you have to come here 👌

Overall a good store and clean inside. However the parking lot is always busy with vehicles in a way that can feel chaotic and the OUTSIDE of the store does NOT look as clean as it should. They could do with picking up trask more frequently, power washing the pavement and building exterior, as well as the shopping carts.

Purchased this molding fruit pie on 12/13/21 at Shop Rite Essex Green. I should have checked the date before purchasing because when I cut into it I saw mold growth. Unfortunately, one slice was eaten before seeing the mold:( This pie should not have been for sale with mold growing on it and I purchased 2 :( I really love these fruit pies, but I will not purchase them again.

I had a great shopping experience at ShopRite of Essex Green! The store was clean, organized, and well-stocked with a wide variety of products. The staff was friendly and helpful, and they made sure that I found everything I needed. The prices were also reasonable, and I was able to get some great deals on groceries. I appreciate that they offer online ordering and delivery, which is very convenient. Overall, I highly recommend this ShopRite location for all your grocery needs.

Relatively large store with helpful staff; a broader selection of Kosher items than many supermarkets in the neighboring towns might have. This is not the most affordable supermarket; but it’s not the most expensive, either. My several trips toward closing time were pretty wait-free at check-out step.

After bagging a whole cart of food (which I paid for) at West Orange ShopRite. A checkout cashier stood up and watched bag. It appears I now work there part-time and should be compensated! I am totally tired of watching cashiers watch me bag my own groceries! The worst!
