A very interesting historic building with charming decor. Its a small menu, but the food was generally good. They also had some interesting beers on tap. The bakery items are very tasty. The staff were friendly but they definitely want you out when you're done. Not a place to hang out.Food & drinks: We didn't stay in the hotel and went for dinner.

Stopped here for the “seafood festival”, which had maybe 5 items on the menu with seafood in them. Sat down at 1 after being passed around from employee to employee trying to find a table and was served 3 drinks each between two people by 230. Food never arrived because we were told “ people just kept coming and coming”, we were told the order was in but it was going to be a while to which we asked for the check and left. Absolutely terrible service, No need to go back since they can’t even find time to serve food for the “festival”

Great spot for brunch, or if you're a vegetarian. Also some good cocktails.On the meat side, don't expect as much. The burgers are pretty good, but outside of that you're just looking primarily at chicken and not a ton of options with it.Still, the environment, the area, and the occasional live music for the outdoor seating (plus, those cocktails!) make this a really worthwhile spot to stop or have a Sunday brunch.Motorcyclists will should make the trip just based on the riding in the area around it alone. Good stop off point.

Highly recommended.. This restaurant is in an old home so seating is divided up into different "rooms" I really enjoyed the atmosphere, It's refreshing to be somewhere that's not a cookie cutter restaurant. The food was very good, our server was very sweet, and the prices are reasonable.

Great mom and pop spot! The food and staff are great. I'm a picky eater (not a snobby foodie) but I couldn't find one thing to complain about here. The flavors were balanced and everything was cooked/prepared perfectly. You can tell whoever's in the kitchen actually likes it there. Maybe they're the owner, don't know.The servers were even handing out complimentary pumpkin donut holes which were bangin.Will be making regular visits here for sure.

We have used Vreeland for catering our last couple of parties with 70+ guests and the staff here nail it every time and are always incredibly helpful and take the time to make sure everything goes right for the events they cater for. Customer service is A+ and the pricing is very fair for delicious food that you won't find if you cater from a pizza joint. They even made a separate plate of food for a guest whose child has a food allergy and didn't upcharge, wow!I highly recommend calling Vreeland for your catering needs and can't wait to stop in with my family for what looks to be an adorable brunch spot!Thanks to all of you at Vreeland, we're very happy customers!

My husband and I absolutely love this place! Great atmosphere, friendly service and delicious food. We eat brunch here almost every weekend . I recommend the avocado toast. The fresh baked goods are amazing especially the scones!

I really love the food here. I've even done their catering and the food was great, they were very accommodating, and everyone loved it. My problem is that I come weekly for a long time and whether it's dine in or Togo the service is really really frustratingly bad. For so long I chocked it up to difficulty getting staff and good staff at that but there has been so many times staff is just chatting away with each other behind the register area while an entire room of diners are waiting ridiculously long for service. My sister and I waited 45 minutes for a drink refill (I finally just got up and went to the resister to see the server talking about her life with another employee) and over an hour for our food after waiting 25 minutes to put it in. We were there over two and a half hours for lunch. We watched tons of tables trying to find a server and wonder where their items are or needing drinks. Togo orders aren't much better, there have been a number of times orders are wrong, it's like this weird telephone game when you call, you place the order the person on the phone asks someone if they have it, repeat for everything, and they are out of items constantly. When you call you need a back up plan of easily 5 items. I get they don't want to have too much to waste but this is constantly happening. Two occasions I've emailed to do more catering with no response. I so want to love this place entirely and bring everyone I know here, and I do and I have in part, but the service has really put a damper on both those things. I really really hope that one day the service will improve. I really do wish them only the best and hope to see this fantastic place with so much potential thrive.

The food here is okay. The drinks my friends had were sent back. I have friends that rave about this place. I have yet to see what that they are saying. The seating is outside on picnic tables, outside is great, picnic tables eh... can't get them really clean. It is a tight squeeze in the parking lot. Not much parking there.

HORRIBLE DISHONEST HOST & UNSAFE PLACE TO STAY WITH SMALL KIDS! We booked this place in advance with a notice we’ll have 4 little kids coming with us, as well as that it was for our special occasion, and when we arrived there we were shocked there were zero sleeping arrangements for our 4 kids with only 1 broken travel crib in the suite for all of them! Our kids had to sleep on a old pull-out sofa, & the place wasn’t safe for small kids at all in all other aspects - tall unstable dressers & old falling-apart-furniture, doors barely hanging on their hooks and falling onto kids. The place was very cold, & not heated properly; no any wi-fi internet either (even though advertised and was guaranteed to us to work). We still tried to resolve it in a most friendly way in a direct personal conversation, she promised us a refund, but she didn’t keep her promise, nor made any efforts to fix these issues for us. When we noticed she still didn’t provide at least a partial refund for our overnight stay (which we discussed with her in person and which she promised to resolve promptly), we tried to call her about this, but she suddenly stopped answering our calls & still never returned our calls, even though we were still quite friendly and polite with her & gave her more than enough time to resolve the issue in a fair and friendly manner. The host had shown herself as very snide & sneaky. Dishonest. Food was also very overpriced & quite mediocre. When we checked out early she didn’t keep our bags in a safe place and put all of our bags outside by the garbage behind the house (that was quite shocking too, thanks goodness our bags were not stolen by someone or ripped by animals when we found them there upon our return from our hike to pick them up). I’d advise anyone to STAY AWAY from this place, especially because of the dishonest, snarky, abrupt, greedy and uncaring owner.

Second time here. Once for a small baby shower upstairs and the second time was just for dinner. Didn’t realize food stops at an early hour. I had the pear salad and it was incredible! I was nervous the salad would be small so I got a soup too, but ended up eating it the next day since the salad was so large. They had a 4 piece band that was playing the Beetles and other 60’s and 70’s music. It was a really chill atmosphere and would like to come back when the outside area is open. The day we went it was way too cold! So, see you soon!

Nice outdoor and indoor spaces. Menu is pretty extensive for variety and they do serve alcohol and a full coffee menu. Everything we tried tasted great! Can't wait to return for live music on Thurs, Fri and Saturdays.

We used to live in West Milford and have since moved out of state. We decided to stay for anniversary weekend. The owners were very accommodating. You even get morning coffee and pastries with your stay. The Vreeland has always been a place where we would go for a homey atmosphere. My daughter lovingly refers to it as the “house restaurant”. Our stay felt more like we were coming home as opposed to visiting a B&B. The space is cozy and private. We spent time by the bar, ate in the dining room and sometimes in our room. The location is close to NYC and there’s lots of hiking near by including the Appalachian trail. We filled our bellies and our hearts. Thank you Lanza family.

My husband and I decided to take a staycation this past weekend, and I couldn’t have been more pleased with our stay. I needed a chance to relax and disconnect from the busy world. The building itself has a lot of history to uncover, which was entertaining in itself, to be able to walk around and look at the photos on the wall and see all the old antique pieces. Unfortunately the cafe and bar were closed during our stay (Sunday-Monday), but I look forward to returning so that I can explore those parts of the Vreeland Store.

This place unfortunately is NOT SAFE, NOT CLEAN, and has UNCARING ARROGANT OWNERS. Our whole family with six family members had a deeply disappointing experience staying and eating at this place with kids. This place is not set up for being there with kids in any way. Broken outdated furniture. Stained walls and fabrics. Barely working shower. Hot water wasn’t working. No appropriate heating either. No internet (they pretended Wi-Fi should be working, but nobody knew how to set it up). The walls are thin and flimsy, you can hear every squeak next door. Nothing was provided for kids’ sleeping. One tiny unsafe unstable crib for several kids wasn’t sufficient. When our small child cried we got blamed for that by the hosts. Nothing to occupy kids with, and everything around is a safety hazard for any child. The female hosts Fran and Charissa had an outrageous attitude, didn’t do anything to help, or at least to attempt to make it better. They didn’t handle our personal belongings safely either. Their food had made us all sick the very next day. We’ll never return and would never recommend this place to friends.

They are the best! The food is so delicious, and the place is so welcoming, and comfortable. The host is awesome, if you are around and are hoping to find a nice place to have a meal, grab a coffee, or even a drink, this is the place! Friendly and gentle people will receive you, it may be busy, but you can always grab a drink and wait for your order to be ready.

Vreeland Store catered a party for me this weekend. We have a variety of food allergies so I was careful in my choice. They were FABULOUS!!!!!!!! Charissa (the catering manager) was so thorough and was totally on top of everything. The food was out of this world and my guests ate so much of it I had very little for left overs. Thank you Vreeland Store!!!

If I was rating this solely on the food, this would be a 5 star review. The food is excellent. The fries are some of the best I’ve ever had, and their baked goods are house made. The atmosphere is cozy. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because they seem to have a consistent issue with service. It seems they might be understaffed at busy hours, which is clearly not the fault of the wait staff, but our server essentially disappeared after we got our food (we actually thought her shift ended and she forgot to tell us). We waited quite a while for water refills and boxes for our leftovers even though the other server walked by us multiple times and paid attention to the table right next to us. This is not the first time this has happened. I suggest sitting at the bar to avoid this problem.
