Puppy-Mill straight up. We do not need to feed into this business as there is more good we can do with 3-4K.Response to Owner/Manager: You do Not operate a rescue/adoption shelter, you operate a Business! Your end stage puppy-mill business is that in-itself churning out and profiting from the suffering of animals and "daddy/mommy can we get him" parents who have more money than ethics. Oh $199-599, that's funny; so those actual prices of $3-4k where my imagination I guess??? Maybe they were the MSRP? Consider this your 10-year wake up call Owner/Manager. DON"T BUY CATS OR DOGS!!!

Very clean and excellent staff at this store.Puppies appear to be well taken care of at this store. Puppies are not cheap but what place sells cheap puppies.

We visit this location regularly lately. We got our beloved Scottie from here in 2007. He was 10-12 weeks old. He died last April. Now we are in search of our new family member. We love the customer service and friendly staff. It makes the transition to a new family member easier!

Store people aren’t too welcoming. I’m not sure why they stare at you and not even say hello. One of the workers seemed like a security officer instead of willing to help. Not one person said hello, not one. The dogs were behind a glass not sure why anyone would think someone could take one. Be more friendly it’s a pet store for Christ sake.

This is a very expensive pet shop disguised as a shelter. Of the many caged dogs, there was just one available for rescue at the time we visited, an older puppy which might not have been sold earlier. The dogs, primarily small breed, although some larger breeds as well, ranged in price from $3000-to over $6000.

Very organize place and clean..Good varieties of beautiful dogs..However, i think they a lil to expensive but if you have the cash ..That would be the place for you...They have a finance option...

I was totally blown away once I stepped in. This place was welcoming, clean, spacious and organized. The selection of available pups was also great. The "prices" are reasonably high. It looks like a huge number but when broken down there's a lot of behind the scenes expenses, for me it's understandable why the prices are what they are. I hope to visit again soon, praying there are more dogs available for adoption (I know they are usually homed fairly quickly) also, I learned financing wouldn't have been an option for me being I am not a NJ resident. That was a bummer but policy is policy. The young lady that helped us from the moment we walked in to when we left was very knowledgeable and very polite.

I dont know why they are allowed to say rescue and adoption when all these dogs are over 3,000 dollars and all are from breeders…. Just say you are a PET SHOP who probably sends unhealthy dogs to a puppy mill…. Why are all these dogs so expensive so rich families who dont really care about the physical dog just the idea of one to give you their money when i walk inside i just feel an overwhelming emotion of SADNESS poor dogs

It was a great experience. Bianca was extraordinary! She went far and beyond to help me add a new addition to my family. She's definitely made my day and you should ask for her if you're looking to buy a pet. She knows her stuff and is very passionate about her job. This is who you want to see. Thanks Bianca!

I don't like this place because everything is so over priced: from pet food to the prices of their puppies!! They charge 4 to 5000 for puppies you can get elsewhere for $750 to $1000,,, they give you the hype, that they care so much for puppies that need to be adopted. But it's all about money,,Shame on you Shake A Paw,, You won't get none of my money!! And I hope whoever read this review feel the same.SMH!!!!!!!

My fiance and I had a wonderful experience at Shake a Paw! We got to adopt a beautiful puppy and are so excited to bring her home! Thank you Charlie for giving us this wonderful opportunity to give our new puppy a forever home! Before i give a glowing review i saw one review from 5 months ago mentioning security type environment. First off never once have a seen that in this store (I am a security manager for a large company) they are friendly and professional there is one staff member who will remain staff member only that does come off alittle hard at first and maybe not as welcoming but are you always 100 percent chipper? I bet not even in your workplace. Stuff happens to people somtimesNow onto the real reviewWe have been coming here nearly once a week for last 3 months trying to pick a good breed. We prefer to adopt and rescue as we have always done. However the rescue market right now and trust me plenty of research was done has dogs that would not fit our environment, saving a dog is so awsome but saving a dog and brining him to an enviroment where he would be unhappy doesn't make sense to me.Everytime we walked in we were greeted asked if need help. Everytime we asked to see a puppy was zero issueStore is clean disinfected and rooms where puppies play are kept in same degree.We finally decided on a dog and bianca could not be anymore helpful. 2 hours of my questions and assisting us with purchase. Then we came back later that day and she was supposed to be home already but instead spent anther hour with us when she probly rather be home eating and being with family, but instead treated us with respect and professionalism. Then again today I finalized some things and yet she still took care of me. I bought 1 dog not the store and you would think the way I was being treated I am the new owner.I have read bad things about this place and everyone is entitled to there own opinion. But think about it this way. What would you have then do better? They are still a buissness and need to make a profit but at same time really look at conditions and say to yourself would this dog be better off in a pound or here. And don't give me anything about breeders I know 3 people in newark that breed dogs for profit those are people you target not a buissness regulated by laws and inspections (fyi i know them not friends disgusting).So the end result is this is a great place if you can afford it. Otherwise my advice check out pet finder and find a nice adoptable animal.come in for yourself and you will see. Your view maybe different after your visit good bad or indifferent

Nie place, kids loves the puppies,the puppies cages are very clean. The only reason I give 4 starts is because is because the puppies are very expensive even if they are for adoption

I was online looking for any adoption places and Shake a paw rescue was the first I contacted, because of the rating online and I called them while, I was at work and they were very friendly over the phone.The next day I went over there for one of their dogs I found online, I didn’t get it but they showed me a dog immediately I fall in love with him. After we’re finish bonding I did the application three hours later the manager Call me to ask the basic questions and Two days later I got my baby winter and now I can not get enough of him. I will be getting another soon.

I asked the woman who answered the phone “ are there any dogs available to adopt” she said “yes we have dogs to adopt and puppy’s for sale” but when i got there, their was only 1 dog available for adoption and puppies ranging over $4,000 to over $6,000 and almost every puppy was sedated into a coma, it was mid day and out of maybe 30 puppies only 6 were awake and a few were in and out of sleep with their eyes glazed over as if they were drugged. This place is a rip off with the prices of anything and all products are astronomically over priced. This is a glorified puppy mill with the word rescue in its name. Realistically 0 stars

Three months ago we bought our beautiful Shiba Inu from this location. We are Canadians and last weekend found ourselves back in Union, New Jersey travelling with our Shiba and wanted to visit with all the amazing employees who helped my daughter with our pet. With all the excitement we ended up forgetting our purchase at the store. The young lady and store manager were absolutely amazing and so helpful!! They mailed my items to me directly at home in Ontario. Thank you, thank you and thank you!!!

I went in thinking that they had rescues but there all of the puppies are definitely from breeders. Not just the price, but when we asked a staff member we were told that “the puppies are bred so that they have desirable traits”!?!??! this is clearly not a rescue I think there was maybe like one rescue dog there but all of the others one were definitely from breeders.

I was training a dog named Maci I was training for them that had aggression issues because of her insecurities and they couldn't find a home for her so I took her for 3 wks and fixed her problems. I heard they found a home 🏡for her the next week. I was so happy 😊because she's an awesome loving dog 🐕.

Don't go here. Go to a shelter or a real Rescue where you don't have to finance your pup where it will take you 3 to 4 years to pay it off with high interest.

This rescue pet adoption stays very busy with many options which included a Lapso Apso, Maltese, Husky and Poodle to name a few. Very well maintained. The dog's seemed lively and very interested in human interaction.
