I love Lori the animal control officer. There are so many dogs that need a home and not enough people to adopt instead of buying a puppy go down to the shelter. I picked up Buster on Saturday. He is such a good boy I love him so muchAnd so do my other pups.

Despite the reviews that have been praising this shelter, I saw the opposite. Went there for a something and ended up seeing a dog crying its eyes out because they were separating her from her partner and the dog was crying and looking at me wanting me to do something. This was all the while I know THEY heard this dog crying if I could and I was only 5 feet away from a "Humane" officer. Mind you, these are not the same people that ran the shelter a few years ago since they lost the contract. These are some of the dumbest people in the city that they have working there that want to do as little as possible. Don't take animals there if you're an animal lover.

The staff at Trenton animal shelter are so kind and understanding. Very reassuring. It’s the cleanest shelter facility I’ve ever seen. All of the animals look happy and not stressed. It’s great that they have a kitty room so they don’t hear any barking. They were all completely content and peaceful. Not trying to get out as if they were unhappy. They all looked so healthy and clean. Very positive experience. I’d recommend everyone to visit if they’re looking for a new, healthy and happy fur baby❤️

It is hard to put into words our positive experience at the Trenton Animal Shelter. We have found two dogs, adopted them about 8 years apart. Both dogs have had such a huge positive impact in our lives. Trenton Animal Rocks crew is amazing, they are with you even after you bring your new puppy home. Erica and Danielle have been there day and night for questions and concerns. This is a special place and the animals there deserve a good home. TAR does everything they can to make sure you and your new companion have a successful start to your journey. We couldn't be happier with our choice to go through TAR and the Trenton Animal Shelter. - Thank you sincerely TAR. You guys do "rock"!

Trenton Animal shelter is awesome. The people that work there really care about the animals and know their personalities and do a great job of matching you up. They were extremely Patient as we have another dog that is a bit skittish (also got from T A S). Could not be any better than they are!

I adopted a dog and I really wanted it to work. I wasn't giving up front information until afterwards about her behavior. Was told she was housebroken and dog aggressive but good with kids. which was so far from true. She was actually being abused and kept in a crate when they retrieved her. I was willing to work with her until she snapped and bit my grandson!! Thank goodness the skin wasn't broken to bad but all I got was maybe you should pay for a trainer! As it stands I'm still trying to return her because I gave her away because of my health and they let her get loose! she was found in one piece thank goodness but instead of them calling me they (City of Trenton) showed up to my house and dropped her off!!! Never ever again!!!

It’s very sad all the animals that are surrendered to shelters. Trenton animal shelter has volunteers that come in and care for the animals 24/7. They are very kind people who work and volunteer there.We have t adopted yet but will hopefully soon. We send donations through their Amazon website. Go adopt a dog or cat. These babies need homes.

Updated November 2022: the "new regime" is disruptive and toxic, spending more time trying to have volunteers removed rather than actually provide care to the dogs. They claim a high adoption rate but don't disclose the nearly-as-high number of returned dogs, likely due to an insufficient vetting process.They need volunteers, but have banned the many who had been previously associated with the rescue running it prior to this year. Dogs are not being properly fed or walked, nor do they seem to be assessed appropriately prior to letting new volunteers handle them. Volunteers are not allowed inside the building where the board with each dog's information is located. The city and shelter manager refuse to address why this is a liability and safety concern.Due to overcrowding, dogs have been shuffled to shady boarding facilities over state lines to avoid scrutiny and pass inspections.If you have room, please go pull a dog from here ASAP to get it out of this terrible place. They deserve so much better than the city of Trenton and it's incompetent shelter manager, health department and "point people" are capable of and willing to offer.-------------------------**This previous review was when the shelter was run by a reputable rescue, prior to early 2022.**Incredible team of employees and volunteers here! They put the animals first and make sure everyone is well cared for, while trying to help them find the perfect home.The facility is clean, the rescue running it is always finding new ways to improve the quality of life for the animals while keeping the staff and volunteers safe, educated and happy, too.They recently started increasing their resources for the community to help people from having to give up a pet due to medical issues, and started a Pet Pantry. It's wonderful to see the differences they're making in the lives of people and pets of Trenton.

They were closed, but the facility looked to be well maintained, clean. The minions in the area were happy to give good opinions about it. Got my dog back the following day n he seemed to be in good shape, a little scared but I expected that. Thanks for capturing him and keeping him safe. Being a low to the ground model , he could have easily been hit by a car. We recently moved and he just was following his nose in the new neighborhood while we were doing yard work. I think he's learned his lesson. Mr bean is the baby of the family and we would all be very unhappy if he was lost forever. Thank you all.

Shelter is great a very awesome group of people who are taking care of the dogs they find out on the loose. It's a shame that people just get animals for pets and then let them go cause they don't want them anymore. Staff is very nice and friendly and really care for these animals.

My dog escaped and was picked up by the shelter. When I went to pick her up they were very cordial, professional friendly. They ask question to ensure the dog was in good hands and I was the owner, they charged a low fee to cover the cost for vaccines that gave the dog and release her to my care.

Tried to adopt a dog from this place and got the COMPLETE run around from Erin or Anne not really sure of her name. Application got approved and everything and would not even give us the time of day as to when we could bring our other dog to have a meet up. For those of you who have to deal with this woman good luck! You'll probably just end up wasting a weeks worth of time waiting to hear back from her. I feel bad for these dogs as this place is a KILL shelter but will not be going back.

I adopted a beautiful well behaved pit from this organization but the heavy set woman with black hair is a total nightmare. Horrible woman to deal with. For someone who acts like the face of the company you think she would be a little friendlier but the rest of the staff is awesome and happily answered any questions I had. I would never adopt another dog from there though because of that woman. I’ve had SEVERAL frustrating encounters with her. It seemed like she never wanted to answer any questions I had about their dogs. I mean if you want them adopted you should take the time to inform the new pet parents. So she needs to go.

The person i met with was great however when you call looking for your lost pet they do not do a walk through to look for your pet they just say they arent there or come in person instead of doing what they can and suppose to do on there part.

Rude staff and you hear the poor animals in here barking and meowing constantly and continuously and they do nothing to see their needsWhen i asked what was wrong as they were crying i got told with a disgusting attitude don’t worry about it.
