Common sense has alot of caring ppl helping them volunteering. But have so many animals I'm sure the chores outweigh the help.if you have time or something they could use please help them.donate time ,money or food for the animals or workers call and ask what they need

First time ever coming here to adopt my 2 month old puppy was recommended by a very close friend and I wasn't disappointed. Staff is very knowledgeable and caring with the animals that are in their care, I will definitely be coming here again in the future.

My kitten had a cold that they told me was just conjunctivitis. My kitten was seen by their Vet who did not disclose the cold even when I went over to ask the Vet myself also and still didn't tell me. I have another cat at home I don't want to get sick which I told them when I was adopting and asked about her health. It is not my kittens fault so I still adopted, but I do wish they were more honest with me.

We had to put down Titan our dog that we had for 17years. They were very understanding and patient. And did not rush the procedure so that he was comfortable. It wasn’t a scheduled appt . But because of Titans pain that he was in they squeezed him in . I am very grateful .

Popped in yesterday looking for a pet for my 6 year old grand daughter. Staff was very helpful. I left with a well cared for bunny named gidean. He is already part of the family and loved.

Absolutely horrible experience there. We had to put our cat down. I had the worst experience there. My first issue was after Dr Blease gave her the first shot I was told to stand at the door way and not to let her run out of the room. Dr left the room to let the first shot take effect. When he came back into the room I was instructed to hold my cats paw so it would work like a tourniquet so he would get a vein. Before the doctor was able to insert the needle into her arm to euthanize her, my appointment was interrupted by a gentleman coming into the exam room and discussing what work the doctor wanted him to do, and that he owed him money for work he had already did. THIS WAS ALL GOING ON IN THE MIDDLE OF MY PETS EUTHANASIA. I will never suggest them, or use them ever again after this experience.

I’ve adopted a few times from here. It’s a very positive experience! They’re a very busy animal shelter, so yes expect to see things all around and for it to smell like poop and animals. They’re extremely reasonably priced and they take really good of the animals they have. They have Dog, Cats, Chickens, Rabbits & Birds! Don’t sleep on Common Sense they have the buddy you want! Lol

Today I went to check this place out and it's amazing. There were 3 female techs who were very polite, informative and helpful. Dr. Blease is also excellent at what he does. I will definitely be back!

In October of 2017, I adopted a spaniel mix. The shelter had given him the name Andy and he was transported there from the south. I initially went to the shelter, to volunteer for the day. That particular day, the shelter was flooded with dogs searching for a forever home. There were a multitude of puppy litters that were the center of attention, but the only thing grasping my attention was Andy. He had just arrived and showed many signs of previous malnourishment. He was not eating or drinking what the this shelter was providing for him and was shaking and very timid. I went home and could not shake the sad thoughts out of my head. I returned the next day, knowing I needed to be the solution to all the problematic things this dog has gone through. I adopted Andy and renamed him Oakley. From the first interaction up until now, our instant connection has only flourished and grown stronger. He has put on some weight, and is finally HEALTHY and LOVED. I am so grateful that Warren County's Common Sense Shelter has provided the assistance towards finding the forever homes to the dogs in need of them. Below are photos of him beginning from when I first adopted him versus now.

Any organization that saves animals is 5 stars, just be ready for the smell when you arrive. It is the smelliest, dirtiest shelter ive had the displeasure of being in. The smell of filth and piss wont leave your nose for 5 minutes after you leave.

Extremely responsible shelter in Warren County. We got there to adopt our Murphy, our 5mo Border Collie/Husky mix. They have animals for all households. It’s impossible to go there and don’t find your best friend. It doesn’t matter if you’re dog team or cat team: Your furever friend is there. If you can’t have a pet for any reason, you can also volunteer to walk dogs or helping taking care of the cats. Don’t wanna get attached to a new pet? No problem. You can talk to them to foster or simply drop there a donation when you can!

I would give 0 stars if I could. I called to ask a simple question, and then I'm getting screamed at over the phone. This place is so extremely filthy. I love my pup so much and I'm so glad I got him out of that place. The ladies that work in the vet office have always been kind. But the adoption center....rude, unpleasant, and loud for absolutely no reason. I hate this place.

We adopted a sweet kitty from Common Sense and absolutely adore her. The volunteers who helped us were also great. However, she had a number of medical issues (ear infections, yeast infection on her skin/open scabs on her skin, rotten teeth that may need to be pulled, fleas, and more). I know that things spread easily in shelters, but many cats seemed to have health issues going on that were brushed off. Our poor cat's ears were pretty nasty and her skin was concerning - it seemed like she must have been in some pain when we adopted her (as well as severely itchy). Since this shelter is owned by a vet, they could at least do some checkups - and some monthly preventative flea medicine!

We have adopted 3 cats from CSA- the care they were given in the shelter was amazing. The cats are wonderful companions. We are very grateful for the vet and staff.

We got our sweet baby girl here, and are so glad we found her. That being said, she had several different types of worms and Giardia, and based on the amount of animal feces all over the place it's probable most of the dogs are incredibly ill. The smell is absolutely terrible, worse than any shelter I've ever been to. The woman who showed her to us was nice but seemed a little under-trained. The rest of the staff was pretty rude. When we adopted her, they did not ask for my ID, proof that we have a safe home, or anything like that. They hadn't even given her all her shots until we decided to buy her. It seemed like all they cared about was getting their $400 for this poor diseased puppy. I didn't want to give them my money, but I just couldn't leave that sweet baby in that place another moment. I will definitely not adopt from here again. I know that they run off of donations and such, but I've been to many other shelters that are in the same scenario that are clean and have friendly, well-trained staff. It's simply lack of caring and it makes me sad

As a local who's lived in Washington I've heard so many not great things about common sense.I adopted my kitty Mia (Bronson) from this shelter. She came with giardia, respiratory infection, and conjotivitis... Fast forward to adopting 40 dollar deposit goes down and you have a month to get them fixed, however my vet said wait. They were trying to withhold the funds from me and I fought Dave on it considering my cat was so sick it wasn't safe to put her under the knife. They don't do background checks. All the pets come out sick. Adopt at your own risk, you will get a sick pet. But it's one less pet in terrible homing conditions....More story's about this shelter...One of my sister's ex's cats got out, went Missing, 6 month went by we called this shelter and many vets in the area during that time, no sign. My sister found him on Facebook and they said they adopted him from common sense...He was shipped from North Carolina? Mind you Bugs was about 6 or 7 years old... But that's super suspicious. They went to the shelter themselves to get it arranged and basically said it's not there problem he wasn't claimed. However, they dropped off a paper with a photo and contact information.Every pet I find adopted from here has food aggression issues (more so in dogs) cats with all the things I listed above. It's not clean, it's not great. Dr. Belise isn't a reliable vet. It's all about them getting their money and not taking care of the animals. It's very sad because there are so many pets getting adopted out of that. Please...There's no information on who's adopting them because there is no background checks, there's no checking to see if they have any abusive record on animals on them, not sure if they're going to a safe home....It's great that the process is easy to adopt, however, for the safety of the animals, they're probably better off getting adopted. However, they're crazies out there who are probably getting away with adopting pets from here and this place is not holding any accountability whatsoever and the sick part is state run.....Disgusting

I have experienced over 20 years of excellent vet care with the greatest compassion for 20 plus animals and just lost the last one. Dr. Blease has always been an advocate for the best care for all of my pets. Thank you for the love. 💕🐾

I thought it was strange that there was no application process whatsoever. I would love to hear the reasoning for this, since many other shelters have very strict applications. Was not greeted or acknowledged for over half an hour even after waiting at the desk. The cat i chose was labeled as 11 weeks old but I found out later was closer to 4 months old. She also had scabs all over her head. I love her though and am so glad I picked her! Not sure that I would return to this shelter.

Shady. Only standing because they're the only shelter around. If you've had no bad experiences here, you haven't been around it much, or not long enough. People will verbally & socially attack you just for saying something bad about this place. I wonder if they can remove my Google review like they removed my Facebook comments... The local ACO has even investigated, but his hands are tied because they're the only place he can take animals to locally. It's a damn shame the community can't come together & get a better shelter together. I would love to volunteer. Just don't have the money to get one set up...

Back in the 90s I worked for Dr blease and all I have to say is this ....all negative reviews are correct, take ur pet elsewhere,he has been known to make his own meds and euthanasia drugs, buries needles and is very unclean, wether this happens now remains to be seen, but trust first instinct s

today i brought my 7 month old cat here for his shots. not only did Dr. Blease not allow me to take my own cat out of his crate but when i explained numerous times my cat does not get along with dogs he refused to get the dog out of the exam room. on top of that already causing my cat to be in stress Dr. Blease bent two needles trying to give my cat shots … putting him in horrible pain. and then told another male dr to give him a shot. this guy puts the needle through both layers of skin causing even more pain for my cat. this place is horrible and i will never come back ! such horrible drs

I give this place five stars because the staff are friendly and the animals are amazing. They are all cute and need a good home. Also they are always looking for volunteers and donations. Any little bit can help an animal in need

I came down here with my mom to cremate her 23 yr old cat and I met a beautiful orange cat named Andrew and we came back a week later to pick up the ashes and I got out the car hoping to see this baby again and I say his name and he comes running to me made my day

My experiences with CSforA has always been pretty good. I had adopted a puppy back in April 2022 - my living conditions have changed drastically and I can no longer care for her (she is now 10 months old). I immediately called and visited CSFA and they’ve informed me that they don’t have any room in the kennel to take her back. It’s been a month and they haven’t offered any solutions or help. I realize it is not their responsibility however, I did buy the dog from them - I thought at the least they could help me. Otherwise, I’d give them a 5 star rating - they are good peeps.

THEY TRIED TO STEAL MY DOG!My dog had got out from our fenced in yard and we didn’t know. We live across the street from common sense. So with that being said it’s one of the first places we went. My girl friend was asking at the clinic if they had seen her or anyone had brought her in they told her no. She gave the a detailed description of what she looked like and told them she was chipped. While she was doing that I was going to all the neighbors houses. I stopped and the neighbors on the other side of the tree line. He said she came over there and he took her to common sense. We went back to common sense and once we told them he said he dropped her off they changed their ton and let us In to the shelter. we walk back to the room with the cages not the kennels AND THERE IS OUR DOG!!!!we called the company that deals with the chip and we were in formed that COMMON SENSE DID CALL THEM AND THEY WERE GIVEN OUR INFORMATION!!!!!Beware!!!!

It smells because there are many many cats and therefore many many litter boxes! They do the best they can. We have gotten 3 of our cats here and the people were wonderful. Very satisfied.
