This was DEFINITELY a five star experience!! We had a great time learning something new and bonding. They make you feel at home, and in a safe space.This is the ULTIMATE she-shed and crafting experience. I’ve found “my people” and recommend that you go check out not only the classes, but the retail space as well!We did the diamond art painting, and we were able to take home a beautiful piece that we can continue to work on, and it also gives my sisters and I another reason to meet up and work on this together!!

My first class at Purses and Proverbs was last week, the beginners crochet class. Today, I learned how to make whipped soap beach linen with turmeric and red bottoms. I am happy that I have found a black owned business where I can go learn new crafts and earning potential while awakening my inner creativity. I may have signed up for every class possible! I guess it’s always been within me!! My mom, grandmother and great grandmother were known for their jewelry making, paintings and other crafts!! I joined my lifelong friend for an intimate Mother's day 'Just for us 'Artisan painting session here. This adorable boutique is Black-Owned and truly serves as a safe space for decompressing and tapping into creating art. From making your own candles, to turning paper into beaded jewelry, crocheting and everything in between.This experience was everything I didn't know I needed right at the right time.Our gracious host Melanie was a welcomed warm ray of sunshine, wisdom and hope. I enjoyed spending time with her. Her music taste was impeccable and truly set the vibe for that unquantifiable bond Black women have when we can connect in a safe space of sistahood.If you're looking to decompress for a few hrs, I highly recommend this place located in South Plainfield NJ.Now, about my prayer/inspiration journal...The colors I chose were intentional from an aesthetic perspective but I didn't know the meanings until afterwards.

Best experience ever. It was difficult to find resin classes in New Jersey and i’m so glad i found Purses & Proverbs. I have already done 2 classes with them! The class was very informative and Melony was an amazing teacher. Definitely recommend them for all their classes if you want to learn a new art or even just get together with friends and enjoy a unique class experience. I did the beginner and advanced resin class.Can’t wait to go back for more :) thank you for the awesome experiences and all the attention to little details 💗in

Purses and Proverbs is an amazing space run by two amazing women. My mom and I are completely blown away by the talent of the two owners and their willingness to share and empower other women. We will be back for more classes, we recently took the scarf marbling class and it was amazing! Highly recommend! Book your class now!

I’m always happy to see woman of color in business! I came in thinking that learning how to crochet would be a piece of cake and for me, it was quite the opposite. However, I had a fabulous, patient instructor who explained in detail and told me to give myself GRACE! Not knowing that grace is my mantra for the start of this year. She handed me an assortment of yarn to choose from and then she decided to chose purple yarn for me. Again, not knowing that purple is my favorite color. I’m very big on energy and vibes and it was all there! Before leaving, we discussed that I would YouTube further instructions on how to make a slip knot. Thankfully, I did not need the video. I could hear her instructions in my head and was able to execute my chain. That’s how you know the teaching was great! I’m a forever grateful for finding this place and I will definitely return for more classes, to shop and/ or just for great vibes!!! 🏽

Great time making jewelry from paper in the paper bead making workshop. Super friendly hosts.Update: just attended the chunky knit scarf class with two friends. We had a great time & each got to leave with our warm and cozy scarf.Looking forward to returning.

My group of 3 had a lovely time at the soap class. The space is cute and inviting space, Our instructor was very good. She taught a well organized with all of the tools that we needed to complete our project. I am looking forward to attending more classes.

Purses and Proverbs is where I go when my goal is to prioritize me. Being there is always -without a doubt-a GREAT time! Whether I am learning something totally new (like string art or decorating my own ornament with dots) or playing around with things I've always loved and wanted to do (like making candles) or just talking about the latest book club book. It's Purses and Proverbs for me! But, thankfully I'm not a selfish person. Since the classes are amazing and the teachers are phenomenal, professional and so very pleasant -the experience is beyond compare. No wonder I've taken my BFF, my sisters and my mom too. Maybe one day I'll see you there. Trust me ... once you've been there you will keep going back. 😊

I enjoyed this class as this was my first time doing a beginner resin class. Absolutely recommend this class and Melanie was kind enough to walk me through the process. I'm happy the way my resin coaster came out when I picked them up.

The Cricut class was AMAZING. I’ve had my Cricut for 3 yrs and tried watching YouTube videos to learn how to use it. I got frustrated and just gave up on learning how to use it. In 1 hr Melanie taught me how to use my Cricut with ease. When I completed my 2nd project during the workshop I literally felt comfortable enough to work independently.I will be honest, I did not want to pay the money to attend a workshop. Now, I am glad that I invested in my self and my craft. The workshop was truly worth it. My finished projects, a lunch bag and a water bottle. Thanks ladies! 🏾

We came to a soy candle making class here and it was SPECTACULAR. Our hosts were kind, knowledgeable and patient. It was heartwarming and uplifting to participate in a class that felt like we were making candles with our friends. Our candles smell great, and we fully expect to come back for more of their AWESOME looking experiences (they have a MILLION)! 10/10 a great experience

Purses & Proverbs is the place to go when you want to escape your world for a few hours and dive into creativity. I have taken a few classes and all are great! The AI Artisty class is a must, not only do you learn a new skill. You walk away with plenty of income producing ideas that you can start right away.

Melanie and Andrea was so nice to teach me how to do resin art. Not only we did a great tray but i got all my answers towards future resin projects.
