Always professional, pleasant and caring. Pricey but worth it. A real hospital for pets. I take my birds and my dogs. Love them. I travel from Morristown because of consistency and a sense of consistency - thank you - all vets are amazing!

About a year ago, I had an issue with this vet. They apologized and said they would like a chance to regain my trust. As my family and I have been going there since the 70's with various pets, I started going back. Things were going well. They couldn't accommodate my cat recently when she needed to be seen quickly due to a breathing issue. I brought her to another vet. She was diagnosed with a condition and needed a fluid tap. I contacted Plainfield Animal and let them know and asked for an estimate for treatment. After the staff spoke to a vet, they provided me with an estimate as well as a detailed written estimate via email. However, when I contacted them to schedule the appointment, I was told they could not perform a fluid tap. I was perplexed since I had been given an estimate for this procedure. I asked to speak to an office manager. After being placed on hold for quite a while, Britney asked me specifically what I needed to discuss with the office manager. I advised her of the situation. She wouldn't put me through to the office manager nor would she give me an explanation as to why they are providing estimates for procedures they don't perform. Later, Britney called me and said they would like to see my cat's records and x-rays from the visit diagnosing her condition. I said fine. Are you going to treat her? Britney said no. I replied then why would I bother to send these to you if you won't treat her?!You shouldn't be providing estimates for procedures you don't/won't perform. Also, you should rethink calling yourself a HOSPITAL. You perform surgeries, but won't do a fluid tap. It boggles the mind.

Front desk staff (on 8/15/23 5pm shift) was very pleasant, two lovely ladies up front. Amelia (?) vet tech was particularly upbeat, professional, warm, friendly, caring, and reassuring - she was a doll and really seems to love animals and her job! And of course Dr. Lyons is the BEST. She’s always professional, courteous, understanding, listens to your concerns, clearly explains what our options are and aren’t, and she’s honest (even if it’s not the news or recommendation you were hoping for). We view her as one of the most experienced vets in our area. She always somehow magically knows how to keep our cat Norty calm and manageable (not an easy task). Love her <3

I really can’t say enough about Plainfield Animal Hospital! Our dog Daisy has been coming here for awhile and everyone is always so kind from the front desk to the doctors. Daisy had to have a tooth removed and we were so nervous about her heart after getting results from Embark back that stated she has a high risk for a condition. The vet doing her surgery called us after every single step - the EKG, X-RAY, assessment of the tooth, and after the surgery. This was amazing and put us at ease. Thank you as always to this great veterinary office.

After speaking with Kistina, the hospital manager and confronting my family member I realized my family member neglected to inform me everything about my beloved, Lacey's appointment. I feel it's necessary to update my review.First Lacey, was nervous and being stubborn and my family needed help getting into the office which one of the staff members came out to the car and carry her into the office.Kistina, also, stated Dr. Madeline Hepkin, did call my family member to discuss Lacey vist but unfortunately, my family member neglected to asked about the heart worm test. Also, Kistina, said Dr Hipkin, really did not intend to upset me by any means she was more concerned about my beloved Lacey's ear infection and making her feel comfortable which Dr Hipkin, requested two techians to assit with the sanitary shave not to stress Lacey out more then what she was. Also, once the office staff discovered the Rapid test wasn't done they immediately sent Jen to my home to justify this. Jen , came after her shift to draw the blood and then went back to the office and tested the same day. Jen, also, help me to get the heart worm and flea medication right away so I wouldn't have to wait for the online pharmacy to send it. Which was very helpful since I was out.I appreciate Kistina reaching out and explaining everything to me and for the staff making Lacey, feel comfortable.I love my Lacey, but sometimes we just over act when it comes to our fur babies especially when I couldn't be there due to health issues. I realize now this was an misunderstanding.I been with Plainfield animal hospital for a long time and I will say all the doctors and staff has always been very knowledgable and helpful and professional with my pets and towards me.I have been a long time client with Plainfield Hospital. This is the first time I felt angry and disappointed with a recent scheduled office vist and Rapid Heart Worm and lyme test Dr. Madeline Hapkin was the vet.Due do health issues I was until able to be present so a family member took my beloved, Lacey, for her office viist and was unaware that a rapid heart worm test only takes 10 minutes for the results.I called the office but I was told there were busy and I should call back in 24 hours.24 hours past - I called again but this time I was told the lab couldn't find the blood I asked to speak with Dr. Madeline Hapkin but she was in.I called the office for the third time and once again I was told the results were not in the computer yet and it would take 24 hours then all of the sudden Terry came on the phone and said that Dr. Madeline Hapkin over looked the Rapid heart worm test and the blood would need to be drawn again. I paid over $400.00 dollars and I didn't even get a apology from Dr. Madeline Hapkin.I realize we all make misakes but Dr. Madeline Hapkin should be more through and professional. Going forward I can not trust Dr. Madeline Hapkin and I would not recommend her.

BEWARE!  I have been taking my dog to Plainfield Animal Hospital for about 10 years.  Just recently he developed a small, pea size growth around his jaw so, my husband and I made an appointment and brought him in.  We were told that he needed surgery for removal.  He was going to be put to sleep, the growth removed and  blood work was needed as well.  The receptionist gave us a price of starting at $1600.  She also said that the doctor would send up an estimate in the mail.  I'm still waiting for that - weeks later.  We decided to get another opinion being our dog is 10 years old and this sounded a bit drastic.  We went to another local vet who examined him and told us he had a small infection which he probably picked up outdoors.  He gave us antibiotics and inflammation cream, and the growth was almost gone the next day.  The total charge was under $200, and my dog didn't need to be sedated.  My dog also took to the new vet because he clearly is an animal lover and knows how to approach a dog unlike the vet we saw at Plainfield Animal Hospital.  And, for those of you that aren't aware of it Plainfield Animal Hospital is a corporation and clearly they put putting profit over pets.

We've been bringing our 2 boys here since they were puppies. We moved and continue to travel here because we love the attention our boys get. Not many vets accept Rotties with such care and love. Everyone loves them here. They get the best treatment with the best Dr's and lovely friendly staff who love our boys. Forever grateful.

Plainfield Animal Hospital really cares about their clients' pets. They have been great from the start. My cat has issues with her anal glands and they have been very good about setting up vet tech appointments that are affordable to prevent a more expensive trip if they were to get infected. Good place. I would recommend to anyone. The prices are fair as well. Imani was so friendly and was great with our cat! Receptionists, too!

It is with great disappointment that I write this review detailing my recent encounter with Dr. Lyons and their veterinary hospital. My beloved dog, Beau, was in desperate need of medical boarding due to an unforeseen cancellation by our regular dog sitter. However, despite the availability of space and the presence of Dr. Lyons, their refusal to assist Beau has left a bitter taste in my mouth.Beau requires ear injections twice daily, a routine procedure that involves minimal effort and could easily be managed with the use of a simple muzzle. It is common knowledge that dogs, when uncomfortable or agitated, may display signs of resistance, such as nipping during ear or toenail handling. However, the rationale provided by the front desk staff was truly disheartening - Dr. Lyons claimed to be too busy to accommodate Beau’s needs, even though they were working and available during the weekend. One would expect that a trained veterinarian, entrusted with the well-being of animals, would uphold the highest ethical standards and possess the necessary skills to handle a variety of situations. Unfortunately, Dr. Lyons fell short of these expectations. Their inability to spare a mere five minutes at the beginning or end of their day to administer a vital ear injection speaks volumes about their priorities. It is evident that Dr. Lyons places their personal schedule above the welfare of animals, which is utterly unacceptable. As a licensed veterinary doctor, Dr. Lyons had a moral obligation to provide aid to an animal in need, especially within the confines of their own facility. However, their refusal to board and assist Beau solely due to a lack of willingness to make time is a clear indication of their misplaced priorities. This behavior is not only disheartening but also raises questions about Dr. Lyons’ dedication to their profession and the welfare of their patients.I implore Dr. Lyons to reflect upon the responsibilities that come with being a licensed veterinarian and consider the impact their actions have on the lives of both animals and their owners. The decision to prioritize their schedule over the well-being of a suffering animal is both disconcerting and unforgivable. My experience at Dr. Lyons’ veterinary hospital has left me deeply disillusioned, and I cannot, in good conscience, recommend their services to others. It is my hope that Dr. Lyons takes this feedback constructively and makes the necessary changes to better align their actions with the principles of their profession. The lives of innocent animals should never be disregarded in favor of personal convenience.

I have been a loyal client of Plainfield Animal Hospital in Plainfield, New Jersey, for over 15 years, entrusting them with the care of my pets. The front desk staff and technicians and Doctors have consistently been wonderful, contributing to many positive experiences over the years. However, I encountered an issue during my recent visit. I had an appointment for my new kitten at 12:20 PM, but unfortunately, I was delayed due to misplacing my car keys. I arrived at 12:35 PM, and to my disappointment, the doctor refused to see us, citing our tardiness. This was disheartening, especially considering the numerous times I have patiently waited for my turn in the past.I understand the importance of adhering to schedules, but I believe compassion and understanding are also crucial, especially in unforeseen circumstances. I have always appreciated the care provided at Plainfield Animal Hospital, but this experience was a letdown. I hope in the future, there can be a bit more flexibility and empathy, reflecting the excellent service I’ve known for years

I was really disappointed in the services my dog received as a new patient for her first time visit. I saw Dr. Sachina Lyons-Brown and when I initially called to make the appointment, I was told there was a $85.00 office fee I needed to pay up front for her wellness exam. I asked what the wellness visit covers, I was told temperature check, weight and full body exam. None of this was done, my dog received the vaccines I came in for plus an allergy vaccine that was recommended. The allergy vaccine has yet to help my dog , in addition, I was not told what the fee's would be at check out. I was blindly recommended al these services that my dog did not need nor did it help. Stay away! I feel like I was taken advantage of. The wellness visit is just a charge for walking in through the doors, there is no wellness exam! It's disgusting.. Never again!

Worst hospital ever. They dont deserve a single star. I spoke to them on March first week for neutering my dog and they gave me $600 quote. Then just two weeks before they mail giving an higher rate. When I call them the first person says the rate changed just this week, when I counter question she forwards me to another person. The second person says the quotation is from last December, when I counter question she forwards me to the manager. Manager comes back and says I am being rude even though they are not being reliable and cheating

I would give no stars if I could... I made a appointment for just incase with these people and determined that I really didn't need the appointment for my puppy and because I needed to cancel the appointment they told me that I order for me to reschedule with them I would have to pay $105... and it's really weird that I had to pay $105 for a cancelation and the initial appointment was going to cost me $105? What a coincidence, these people are money hungry and care more about the money then the actual sick pet...

I brought my dog here for a 2nd opinion..he had an obvious change in his health and I felt his normal vet did not address the issue after reviewing his blood work. It did take me a hour to get there but I know the trip was worth it. The vet addressed the change in his health and reviewed all the options for next steps. She took her time and answered all my questions. I felt like she listened and agreed there is a potential issue. I'm bringing my dog back next week for additional testing. The front desk staff (wendy and Terry? I'm not sure if I got her next right) ...they were kind and empathetic....I would recommend this practice to any and all pet owners

This place I believe cared more about my money than they did, my old friend. Convinced me to leave my dog overnight and pick him up in the morning. Only for me to receive a call when we were on our way to pickup Prince that he died. Then ask me for more money.he was

This review is directed at the avian vet service received last Sunday - the animal hospital itself is very neat and clean and the staff is very responsive. BUT prepare to overpay and receive poor service. I brought my 2 baby parakeets in who have splayed legs - Dr. Loomis came in for a total of maybe 2 minutes and lifted both birds up and confirmed the splayed legs and that they'd be taping their legs to try to correct this - but because they're 'too old' it is unlikely to work. These parakeets were 3 WEEKS OLD so I'm not sure where that comment came from. He taped their legs and about 20 min later came out and was charged $253. FOR TAPE. $96 for the vet exam (times 2, 1 for each bird....LOL) and $30 (times 2) for taping. We were recommended to come back Wednesday - 3 days later - for another $60 taping. Sadly, by Tuesday, one parakeets leg had turned completely black and blue and now has permanent damage. Needless to say, we did not go to our second visit.Hello - i reached out to the email provided and still haven't heard back. Both birds are severely handicapped now because of the services received here. It's sickening. Here are photos of the result of a simple parakeet leg taping at 3 weeks. You would think an avian vet would know how to deal with one of the most common problems among parakeets but I guess not. $253 completely wasted and now with 2 parakeets that can't have a healthy life.

The best area vet + excellent boarding too! The staff takes great care of my cats when I board them. They were very reassuring, as I was a nervous furbaby mom the first time. We've boarded them a few times now. We always receive the best care, and great updates when we call to check on them. I definitely recommend them for boarding and wellness. We now also use them for shots and health screenings, and the vets, vet techs and entire staff are attentive. The vets take time to explain things, which I appreciate. All in all, a great facilty with caring staff. I've been back multiple times, and have switched over to them completely. Thank you PAH for the excellent care!

For general wellness visits I have not had any issues with this office. However, I recently took in a stray kitten and I know she is unwell. I received a call from a blocked number at almost 7:30pm last night regarding test results (which is almost never good). I called the office back ten min later once I realized who had called. I still have not received response from a Dr regarding my kittens health. Of course I’m even more anxious after receiving that call. I am now being told I have to wait two days for response as if waiting over a long weekend was not bad enough. Going forward my kittens will no longer be patients of this office. My kittens deserve swift medical attention when it’s needed.

We took our Dog Pain, 15 yrs of age that was not breathing normal because of cancer, before we even got out of the car , the Vet doctor came out to check him and rushed him in. Team was ready to examine our baby.Unfortunately Our Pain had to be put to sleep. Its been so difficult for us without him but , I thank God for this wonderful and caring team they took care of him immediately with lots TLC. . Tomorrow will be a week, but he was in good loving hands when we had to leave. This keeps me at peace. I would give them a 10 star if I could.

This past weekend, my disabled dachshund stayed at this animal hospital for medical boarding. When making my appointment I spoke with a receptionist who checked with the doctor and head technician to make sure they were able to take care of my dogs needs, she said that there wouldn’t be any issues. Now it is time to drop our dog off (we only leave him when we are on vacation). Mind you, they have had his medical history from his primary vet and the previous clinic that he boarded at for at least 5 days at this point. The doctor takes him back to do a check and comes back with the manager of the hospital. We did not like her attitude or disregard for our needs. She said she doesn’t think they can take him and to send him to his primary vet, because they may have to apply a cream to his skin which apparently is too much veterinary work for trained professionals to do. We booked this in advance so there is no way for us to just change our plans. We had no way of changing our plans because we scheduled his boarding for while we were on the way to our trip. If we wanted to send him to his primary doctor, we would have done that to begin with. I doubled checked multiple times to make sure they could help us and no issues were presented until the moment they saw him. It’s disappointing that a place that is supposed to have trained professionals are too scared to take care our little dog, because they “may” have to do one extra step that would take them maybe 2 minutes more. After going back and forth they finally decided to let him stay. The doctor did not show any confidence and honestly did not make us feel reassured apart from the fact that she said they would be able to go to the bathroom with him. Overall we felt disrespected and did not appreciate the way the manager spoke to us. Then as we were leaving to pay, they asked if we had any extra diapers for him, we said we had on extra (we assumed a medical office would have something like this), and when we said we only had one, they told us to go home and bring more or buy some from the store. We told them just to put a pee pad underneath. It seemed like they needed our guidance on how to take care of an animal when they are the professionals. We ultimately decided to pick him up a day early because of how uncomfortable we were leaving him there. When I called to figure out a time to pick him up they told us it had to be before 3pm, because they closed at 4pm, when IN FACT, they closed at 5pm as stated on their website and on their door. As we picked him up we overheard a receptionist tell someone on the phone that they had to pick something up by 5 pm because that is when they closed, so why in the world we needed to get him by 3 is beyond me. We were stuck in traffic so we had a family member pick him up, when if they didn’t lie to us we could have gotten him ourselves. When he was picked up the only comment we got was that he was “CRAZY”. Why they would say this about him is rude and the only reason I can think of for this behavior is because he was scared of them and knew they were not taking care good care of him. Any dog would be “crazy” in his kind of environment. This was our last resort as our other boarding establishments were full. It makes sense that this place was empty because probably nobody wants to leave their dog here. He had never been more excited to see us they he did after we picked him up from this place. I never would have thought a veterinary office would treat a disabled animal let alone any animal like this at all. We will not be coming back to this establishment and I warn you all not to take your pets there for your sake and theirs. Most of the staff was not professional and made for an uncomfortable and disappointing experience.
