This is the largest Latin/tropical supermarket I have found since moving to central NJ in 2008. It has a large variety of Caribbean food to buy. Fresh products and meat market in the back.

I like going shopping here they have great goat meat at a good price. Veggies and fruit are always fresh. However the meat department is the only ones who greet you with a smile.

This tropical location should be investigated on prices how is it that this location sells bustelo coffee for $6.99 a coffee pack of 8oz where every other tropical location has it for $3.99 to $4.39 that’s with tax. This location is ripping people off

Everything was super neat in this supermarket. I bought some things that I needed but did find they were a bit pricey. They do have a meat market in the back so that's a plus as I prefer it over packed up meats

Horrible customer service! Cashiers don’t know how to treat people, always have an attitude. Lack of manners

Very nice staff and produce are fresh and not battered. Meat guys in the back are quick and efficient. I even had a day when I couldn't get out the car because of the baby and they took my order over the phone and brought it outside.

Meat area smells horrible. Chicken looks like it was injected.

Today, I felt so horrible. I spent my lunch here today picking up groceries for the week. I have been here several times and enjoy the experience. With my lunch time spent here I had to grab a Jamaican round bun. I proceed to the deli to get a few slice of cheese. I did this before with no problem. I was denied because, I didn't want a 1/2 lb. I work in the area so with the heat that cheese would be in the hot car. The butcher told me NO. He said the sale of the cheese would not worth the sticker with the price. I walk out empty-handed and I carefully restock the $70 I was about to spend.

This store, the entire store workers are terrible, and don't bother calling management, they speak in their language even though they do speak English. You get no satisfaction, thdy are nasty to blacks. They will rob you if you don't pay close attention. I bought a few things totalling $27.12, the cashier credited my card 2.12 for an item that rang more than it should, but refuse to give the product. I informed her she gave me the overage but the product is mine. She still say "I gave you the difference ". I told her yes you did, and I paid for the product so I should have it. She started ringing another customer, then another. So I asked her for my money back. She rang $13, I informed her she gave me $2.12, now I returned all the product, so she should refund me $25. She said no. I got management who spoke with her in Spanish, then telling me she said she gave me the refund and. I put the receipt in my pocket. Mind you now, I had no pockets. These people are prejudiced against blacks.

I'll be generous and give one star. I'm disappointed with lack of customer service. Ten customers in line and one real slow cashier, while other staff walking around the store, shows lack of leadership in management.

The meat area smells bad, oxtails are extremely tough take 6-7 hours to cook when normally should take 4-5 hours. After 6-7 hours oxtails still tough. Only time this happened is with their meat. Happened to my mom as well. The chicken looks pumped up on steroids and looks like a turkey. Not buying my meat here again.

They have a large variety of products. The vegetables are always fresh.you're able to get any kind of meat. Just that the items on the shelves are little pricey.

This place is selling Bad Meat and outdated products to its consumers and doesn't care. The #FDA need to look into them ASAP very unsanitary on all levels... ALL COOKS BEWARE OF THIS PLACE AND LOCATION!!!

Tropical is a surprisingly good mid-sized supermarket chain, particularly so considering the relatively lower-income neighborhoods that they are located in. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient, and the prices are mostly not much more than a shoprite. In fact a few items are a real bargain, over shoprite's prices. Granted they don't have the same level of variety and choice, but for a smaller market in a poor neighborhood, they are pretty good (probably the best, in fact). And, now that I live in this lower-income neighborhood myself--to save money--I've been using them a lot, lately--and they've been suiting my purposes, just fine. I give them 4 stars, whereas I've been giving most shoprites just 3 stars, because they are not only more expensive with their produce, but located in public-transportation-inacessible areas/locations. But Tropical, on the other hand, couldn't be in better locations, for my purposes, so they get 4 stars, instead of just 3 stars, like shoprite. And the fact that they don't have a large variety of non-food items doesn't affect me at all, what with a great Family Dollar store only a couple blocks away, I don't need to buy any of that stuff at Tropical (like cleaning items or laundry detergent) 'cause Family Dollar--the best ever dollar store chain--has all that stuff, and at great prices, too. In fact, the only regret that I have about Tropical, is the high cost of their produce, compared to say, Route 28 Farmers Market in Middlesex (which is really a produce market that operates year-round and is the very best produce market in the U.S.A.!) There's no way that Tropical or anybody else will ever take on the Korean-owned and Spanish-labored produce markets for their great prices, variety and quantity, but they are hard to get to, and located in areas that are somewhat more costly to live in, than this one--although not in rich areas, by any means. So, if you're lucky enough to live in a rich area here in New Jersey, you are doubly-screwed, because you're not near either the Korean-owned produce markets, or the Tropical supermarkets--but since you have unlimited amounts of money to throw away--you probably don't care. Me, on the other hand, I watch every penny, that I spend, nowadays, because I need to live in an affordable way. So, Tropical, Family Dollar and the produce markets, work very well, for me. What about YOU?

Nice place to grocery shop. Needs some improvement in the meat department, where the staff who ironically are all Spsnish, tend to favor the Spanish customers instead of the first come first serve rule.

Meat department has terrible service, UNLESS you speak Spanish. I have been there on many occasions where not one person behind the counter speaks English. Are we in America??? The only employees in the entire store that speak English are the ones taking my money at the register.
