Drafting this review from my room, and I must say, the front desk experience left much to be desired. The individual on duty seemed distinctly uninterested in providing the level of service one would expect in a customer-centric industry.Ventured into the breakfast area around 8:40, only to find the coffee pots empty. Politely requested a refill, but instead of promptly addressing the situation, the staff member simply took the empty pot away and failed to return with a filled one. A quarter of an hour passed, during which the breakfast area was being cleared, yet no coffee materialized. It was disappointing to observe a lack of common sense or basic courtesy in providing an update on the situation.To the staff member in question: perhaps it's time to consider pursuing a more fulfilling path outside of the service industry if the current role doesn't align with a positive and service-oriented mindset.

For what I paid ($250+), this was one of the most most disappointing hotel experiences I've had. I was first greeted by a very unfriendly desk person who didn't look up to acknowledge me. Then I got to my room which was drab, old, and gross — a far cry from what you would expect from more modern Residence Inn's. This place is desperately in need of a renovation.There's no bar or any alcohol available at the store either, so no way to drink away my poor experience here. I will never stay here again.

The only reason I’m giving it one star is because the staff were nice. My room was very outdated, and parts were just gross. The wallpaper is running down the wall. This was reported and they said “it’s not a new water leak, so no need to worry. Nothing else we can do”. Gross. Then there’s the bathroom floor, which had cracked and multiple tiles and gaps were just sloppily glued together.The hotel is not walkable at all. There are no sidewalks in the area and no way to cross the highway to the path. Great if you have a car, not great if you want to walk or run.

stayed here for 2 months while working in the area. overall my stay went well.flora was extremely helpful from the start of my stay and throughout my stay. christine* was the most amazing employee. she was extremely thoughtful, helpful, and was able to resolve nearly every issue that i had.the rooms are very nice, clean, and spacious. the area worked well for me.breakfast in the mornings was the best hotel breakfast i’ve ever had. the oatmeal bar is a must and range of options was awesome!ALL of the housekeeping staff was AMAZING. they were quick, efficient, and extremely personable.i ran into some issues with my ac unit and although it took a long time to correct (multiple days at 80 degrees in the room)…when it was resolved, the two gentleman who fixed it were amazing.only cons:the coin laundry is pretty expensive $3 per load and the dryers don’t work super great.also, the assistant manager kelly was very unprofessional and even rude during my stay. when addressing the ac issue, she stated that engineering said it was “fixed as best it could be” when it was still 80 degrees in the room…in addition to that, I travel with a service animal and she nearly harassed me about it after offering to provide proper documentation on multiple occasions. even going as far as asking me to disclose my disability, what task my animal performs, and sending me an emailing stating “not to ask the front desk about the issue anymore”.besides the above issues, i do recommend this location!Rooms: the rooms are very nice, clean, and spacious.

Room smelled bad. Bathroom tiles were cracked, holes in carpet, and huge stains on the carpet. The decor in the room is severely dated. The oven was filthy. And there is no pool.On the upside, the front desk staff were extremely nice. The clerk understood my concerns about the hotel and did not charge me for the stay since I checked out immediately after I checked in and saw the room. Ended up booking a room at the Springhill Suites around the corner - it's a newer hotel and is much nicer. Also, great front desk staff

Friendly hotel staff taking great care of the guests and rooms. The whole hotel feels tired, though, and truly in need of an update. Nearly all of the furniture and wall hangings are damaged in some way. No on-site EV chargers, just a half broken outlet. Still, breakfast is hot and fresh and the rooms are clean. Location is close to hospitals and cancer centers. Not much for sidewalks.Rooms: Clean and comfortable. Mattresses are comfy, but nearly all the furniture is broken in some way. The hotel really needs a refresh.Walkability: No real sidewalks in the area. Parking and walking to nearby medical clinics or EV chargers is a hassle. Traffic drives very fast on the roads.

Good hotel. Clean and polite staff, housekeeping comes regularly to check if you need anything. The housekeeping staff is so sweet. The hotel is also in a good area and they have designated quiet hours so you don't have to deal with noisy neighbors when you're trying to sleep. There was also excellent lighting from the windows in our room so it made our days in the hotel a lot more bearable.

The location was good being not that far off the highway. Gentleman that checked me in was very professional and paid attention to detail extremely well. The bed (for me) was extremely firm. I wound up sleeping on the couch as it was a bit softer but still not the greatest. When I went to check out, there was no one at the desk so I just left my keys on the counter. I would stay again if I absolutely had to, but wouldn't be my first choice.

My stay here was terrible.Arrived late just to sleep over.TV doesn't work, the office chair you can't sit on, it was so dirty. Shower fan was making a noise like right before it exploded, shower wall panel had a giant crack. Breakfast was disgusting.Cost of the stay was above average for the area.

Our stay was the end of March. We travel due to work sorry for the late review. The staff was very nice and hotel was very clean. Even though everything at the time was still on shut down mode. It was ok. We made the best of it. The room was nice and clean. Like that the hotel was quite. The whole time we were here it rained so didn’t get out much. I’m glad they allow pets. We had our small fur babies.Gym, dining area and pool were closed. It was a grab bag for breakfast.

Very clean very comfortable suites. We stayed in a handicap accessible room and it was easy to navigate around. Convenient location, shops and restaurants close by. Staff was friendly and helpful. The grounds are clean and well maintained. The parking lot is well lit at night. It was 6 minutes from my childhood house, so it was nice to go back to the old neighborhood. I would definitely recommend staying. It was very quiet and peaceful.

The rooms appeared nice enough until you tried to use the deadbolt. It did not work. The shower fixture was so rusted, my wife couldn't get it to engage. The next morning I went to tell the front desk but the woman did not speak/understand English. How is this a Marriott?Rooms: Numerous things need fixing.Nearby activities: There is a nice bar within walking distance. You will need it!Safety: Deadbolt did not engage.Food & drinks: No bar and the hot breakfast is a joke.Noteworthy details: None! Totally disappointed. Will not use again.

I've been staying at the Residence Inn for over a year now 2-3 days a week because I work at the New Brunswick campus for J+J and I live in Albany NY. I can easily stay at other places that are closer and newer to the campus but I continue to patron this location because their team at the desk, house keeping and kitchen are exceptional. I have zero complaints and I have tons of praise for them. Thank you Sennatta for always having my room ready to my liking and thank you Flora, Fay, Daniel and Willie (and there are a couple others, I apologize that your names escape me) for your amazing concierge service; dealing with my unpredictable schedule and always making me feel so welcome there.

By far and hands down the BEST Residence Inn I have ever stayed in. The staff greeted us warmly at check-in, and the amazing service was consistent throughout our stay. We really felt appreciated as Marriott members. We even received an upgrade! Breakfast was great, nice decor, and the rooms were spacious and clean.I would definitely recommend a stay here and would visit again.

We stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn at Somerset for 35 days, as we had a hospital procedure in St Peters university hospital.Our stay was amazing - the rooms are great, spacious and have everything we needed.We took a two bedroom suit which had a fully furnished kitchen and a nice living room. It also had a fireplace, which for us and with the snow - was great.The team were great, they were nice, attentive and were willing to accommodate any request we had - even if it wasn't "standard"We strongly recommend this hotel

I am really surprised by how many high reviews this property has. The bed was hard as a rock, the room had an odor to it, the breakfast which is typically good at most Residence Inn was a joke.They had packaged waffles, yogurt, boiled eggs, and packaged muffins. Save your money stay at the fairfield down the street instead.

I had a very pleasant stay. The staff was friendly and the commodities were wonderful. The pool and whirlpool are inside and warm, and the exercise room has all the basic things needed. The room was satisfactory and fully stocked with necessary dishes.

My stay was ok. The staff could have been better. They were very picky with the group that I was with. The male custodian complained about garbage outside of my door but others had there's out of there door. The shower was not as clean. There was hair on the wall in shower and the curtain.

The Staff, is outstanding in their hospitality! They make you feel at home. Everything is clean & tidy. Breakfast buffet, starts your day off & a few nights of the week, dinner too, all included. So HAPPY, we are staying here, while my husband has treatment at ProCure. (They also have a shuttle there too) ❤🙏❤

Nice facility. However the surprise $100 extra cleaning fee for having a pet was unreasonable. Yes, the fee is disclosed on their website but it was not disclosed on the app when I booked the room. Also, they provided no detail about what extra cleaning they conduct following the stay of a pet. Either they vacuum, clean, and change the sheets or they don’t. They failed to provide any response to my query about what more they did after mom’s little dog stayed in the room. I’ve no doubt they did nothing extra.

We stayed for 5 days and 4 nights The room was excellent condition clean and comfortable The hotel was very quiet And we enjoyed our stay in the room. Breakfast was a hot breakfast downstairs the traditional Marriott offering hot and cold offerings of eggs waffles and several meats multiple beverages. Had an excellent facility great staff would highly recommend anybody staying in Somerset Edison Piscataway area to definitely consider staying at the residence inn Marriott just don't overall wonderful experience.

I booked an 8 month work stay, and Shout out to Danny And Christina. Im not one to bash, so i wont throw anyone under the bus, but after 5 days of reporting that my A.C. didnt work and it was 90 in my room, they made it right. Great employees that made a bad experience into a positive, relocated me to comfort and didn't make me move my belongings. I'll be back thanks to them

I am a Marriott Gold Member and have stayed over 700 nights at Marriott properties. I have stayed at over 2,000 hotels in my lifetime. The Residence Inn in Somerset, NJ, is fantastic and in a great location. Residence Inn Front Desk Supervisor Flora Brotherson rocks and went well beyond the call of duty to ensure my accommodation and stay were best perfect! Flora is an incredible, talented person, and I greatly appreciate her efforts for my recent visit.

This is my favorite place to stay in northern Jersey. The kids love the pool and playground area. The patio with the grill is a great plus for a large family traveling. The facility is always prestine. The staff is awesome and always accommodating. Frank one of the managers there is the GREATEST... 5 STARS All around.Thank you Frank and Staff for everything!!
