Honestly, the hotel itself was not bad, although the pool is not open (not sure how ling that has been or will be). However, the room could have been cleaner. I found trash on the floor that was clearly from a prior guest and nevermind the hair that was all over the shower. But the worst part was that I found the young lady at the front desk to be very rude. Almost as if I was an annoyance for even talking to her. When I first walked up to the front desk, she was having a conversation with someone else (I think it was another employee). And, once the other lady walked away, after saying "Good Morning" to me, the lady behind the desk didn't say anything to me. She just looked at me, as if I shouldn't have bothered her. Therefore, I went ahead and asked my question (which was that I needed a late checkout, if possible. As, I had been trying to call the front desk for a few days and was not successful in getting through, as the phone was consistently busy). After asking my question, the lady behind the desk stated, "what is wrong with this computer?" Then she just turned and walked into the back, without saying anything further to me. Just a very rude lady that may need some retraining or perhaps not be on the front line assisting guests. Ultimately, I was able to get done and get out of my room on time. Additionally, I did take a moment to inform the Manager of my experience with the front desk lady and to let him know that I would be posting this review (as I try to be fair and I didn't want this post to blindside him).

Had booked a three night stay with Homewood suites for my family from May 8th to 11th and requested a check in on the morning of 9th due to a red eye flight. The hotel front desk lady simply refused to honor the request even though I called them more than 24 hours before check in. I ended up losing my money for the entire 3 day stay as they made the case of no show even before resolving my issue. I guess Hilton isn't what it used to be. Beware of their policies

Had a fishy and std smell as soon as you walked into your room. Big disgusting stain on the bed. Looked like a large old blood stain. Never was able to get towels because they were out. Had to call to ask for the room to be cleaned and was told they couldn’t make any promises because they were short staffed. Breakfast was disgusting. Front staff was very rude. There was hair in the pool and it didn’t feel clean at all. The door was so hard to open and shut and had a huge crack in it. The laundry room was broken and the workers just tried to barge into our rooms.

Great large room - checked shower temp, barely warm. Does not get hotter. Told front desk, they know and said it was because room is far at end. Couch inside room smells like vomit and mold and made my clothes smell. It needs to be thrown in dumpster. Someone’s kid dumped stuff all over it, it’s never been shampooed. The foot rest/coffee table has marker all over it. There was public hair all over the door frame in bathroom. (See photos) there is white smeared on the headboard. Can only imagine what that is. Handles are all filthy and sticky. One small lamp in bedroom and bedroom is dark. Could use another one. There was question when checking in if room had been cleaned yet or not. Which it was “ready” but not cleaned the way I hoped for the price. Seems all they did was come in and made the beds, changed towels, and wiped counters. Sink in bathroom leaks all over counter. I’ve already been to front desk shortly after arriving for the hot water. She said she’d tell maintenance. 3hrs later on no one has come yet. Not that I expect hot water at this point because she said “yeah it happens because you’re so far at end”. I want to leave and go somewhere else but it’s too late to cancel now. Never again.

Not at all impressed. The room and hotel feels dirty, dingy and dusty. I gave this place a couple chances, as this is my 2nd time staying here and both times the pool was "closed", which always seems to get mentioned after I swipe my card. The tvs in the rooms don't get a good signal and don't work, it's been frozen for over an hour. No USB charging ports in the rooms either. The reason I chose this place again was for the pool.. no pool or TV, cant even charge my phone. This is a "NO STAY" on my list. Waste of over $300 on a what turned out to be a bitterly disappointing one night stay.

Overall the hotel is lovely as far as rooms & location. Overall as far as service there service here SUCKS!. Not only are some of the employees rude and unprofessional but so is the manger! They are very lazy and not properly trained. This hotel doesn’t handle complaints well! They will sweep any issue under the rug instead of handling it like professionals!! Do not waist your time with this branch at all!!

Had a family vacation me the wife and kids and we decided on this hotel, needless to say we will return if ever in the vicinity. This was a clean hotel thru and thru with well mannered staff that was beyond helpful throughout the duration of our stay. The pool and the jetted hot tub was clean and fun. Rooms were stacked with complimentary items and just gave us a warm welcome. I wouldn’t look any further for a better home away from home.

The worst Hilton hotel I have ever stayed at. I was here for four nights for work and was dying to leave. The rooms are smelly and dirty. Overall very musty hotel. There’s mold in the shower, hair found around the room, and the carpets need a deep cleaning.While I was sleeping (mind you, I work nights so I was sleeping during the day with the sleeping notice on my door) a wifi maintenance employee woke me up to fix the wifi. I did not have issues with the wifi nor requested the service. They couldn’t have waited one more night until I left to fix it?I would rather stay at a hotel 30 minutes away from work rather than staying here. Do not stay here!

The rooms were very unclean and unkempt. There was hair on “clean” towels!! The body lotion was empty and there were no dishwasher detergent or dish liquid. The dishwasher was also broken and we were very uneasy using it! Front desk never answered our calls so had to run to the front desk several time and we stayed 3 nights without housekeeping because hotel was “short staffed!”We took our babies for our stay and unfortunately we were quite worried if they would catch some bug touching all the dirty and unclean room items! Breakfast was not up to par and there was not much to look forward to.Honestly being a honors member and booking a 3 star hotel this has been the worst experience!! Will not go here again…Rooms: Very small for a suite.

Pathetic service. We had a heating problem in the suite room the day we checked in and it was fixed by efforts of Ron Allen from maintenance team and she is the only nice staff in the hotel, I would really appreciate her efforts. I am not able to give more than 1 rating because the entire experience with front desk was pathetic, they do not respond to you in appropriate way. I have stayed in multiple Hilton hotels across the country and this is the worst staff at front desk I have ever seen. The management should really look into this. I will never come back to this place. I am posting a picture from room which says you get service every alternate day of stay, but the front desk says that you don’t get service until requested which was not told to us while check in.

Room was good for the most part service was not the best and they didn’t treat people with pets good. Hot tub doesn’t work and most staff have attitudes so asking for help or questions domes like a bother. Also they told us they would be able to do early check in but made us wait an hour to do so when they could’ve told us they couldn’t along side we was there during our check in time and they couldn’t get us roomed even then bud over all it’s a chill mostly clean hotel

Blood stained sheets, sheet covers, and mattress, black mold in bottom of shower, room not clean , was in town for a 75th birthday celebration, needed to shower get dressed and head to finish last minute planning, everything canceled had to wait at the hotel room until the front desk lady could change out the mattress and sheets, she was the only person there she tried her best , I cleaned the bathroom and shower while waiting for a new mattress, this was a total inconvenience, after a 12 hour ride and nasty room with bloody sheets we decided to clean the room and rest , we missed everything, thanks to the front desk lady for doing the best you could even she was disappointed, we checked in on 5/11 in room 204 , called the manager never returned my call or issued a inconvenience refund, this is not Hilton QualityRooms: Not clean , nice setup, black mold in shower, I cleaned it myself, blood stains sheets , mattress covers and mattress ewww!Nearby activities: Close to stores and restaurants just a short driveSafety: All entry doors were locked

Staff is very friendly and helpful. It would be great if people who are traveling with their dogs would pickup after them. That was a big issue for me. This location has several pet cleanup stations. I travel with my dog and cleanup after her, but we had to dodge a lot of poop every day.Nearby activities: Rutgers University and nice parksFood & drinks: Breakfast was nice and different every day, including continental foods.

I've been coming to HWS Somerset for over 13+ years. I've watched the management change, hotel signage change, Suite renovated 3x and watch employees come and go. The one thing that has remained consistently the same is the kindness of the staff and their willingness to accommodate thier guests. I'm a Hilton Honors Diamond Member and there are several hotels in this area. I come to Somerset/New Brunswick Area monthly for work and when I do, I stay at Homewood Suites Somerset. It's like home and I will continue to keep coming back.

Wasn’t told the full restrictions for pets until after I paid and was at the hotel. Came up for a concert and couldn’t go because we were told that we couldn’t leave our dog in the room when we had her crate with us. I wish they told us that before we booked. The person at the front desk was nice, the hotel was clean and the room was nice.

Once you get past the lobby. Everything else is downhill. The pool looks dirty. The rooms are so nasty and muggy. The sheets and mattress were dirty and smelly. The refrigerator had dust all over it. The kitchen was nasty. The bathroom was OK. But the floors and counters are all dirty. The TV was sitting next to the stand on top of the drawer. You had to move in a certain position to get the TV to pick up the remote signal. They used the cheapest orange juice for breakfast. I just feel dirty after staying there. The dishes were dirty when we arrived. I need to wash all the clothes I wore twice. After sleeping on the bed. The sheets started producing a terrible smell. I would not want my worst enemy to stay here. This place does not hold up to Hilton standards. I've been to so many Hilton's, and this one took the cake for the dirtiest place. This place is not a dump, but it is upheld like one.

1) Extremely noisy neighbors. Talking loudly and laughing till 2:00AM. We had sleepless nights throughout our stay. Reporting doesn’t help, and I know from my past experience with Hilton hotels.2) Bathroom exhaust did not work, fridge light did not work, microwave surface light did not work, microwave cooktop exhaust fan filters were completely chocked, carpet had a dirty look, small dining table in the kitchen area had shaky legs as if will collapse any moment, few kitchen utensils were too dirty to use. I don’t want to be the one helping solve the hotel’s maintenance problems as soon as I check in.3) There were 9 spots with dog poop around the hotel. I don’t blame the hotel for the misconduct of guests. However, as pet friendly hotel, the hotel should install security cameras around the property and impose fine on defaulters

Before all the disappointments are laid out, the staff at this hotel are helpful, nice, always smiling, work very hard and deserve all the flowers. We have stayed at various other Homewood locations and this one is not close to the Hilton standards.1. When we arrived at our first  room, the decor was updated but room smelled old, the bathroom door wouldn't close and the handle was broken. The staff apologized and put us in the only other type room that we had paid for.2. The second room had a even worse smell, the bathroom door was filthy, the floor towel was dirty, the toilet seat was dirty and old, there was broken glass on the bottom of the dishwasher, the room that holds 5 had enough plates, cups etc for 2 people, there was one remote for 2 tv's, the bed and the sheets and cover were gross, and the shower towels felt like dry paper was drying you.3. The pool is small but nice, but there were no towels stocked and we had to use our room towels.4. Breakfast food was rubbery and not enough for the amount of people and the staff person tried really hard to keep up but one person just cannot do it alone. We felt bad for her, such a nice woman, she deserves a raise.5. To open the fridge you had to hold it while opening the door or else you'd just be pulling the whole unit towards yourself.6. We need 3 towels since we used them for the pool, they only cold give us 2. Needed 3 extra  pillows, gave us 2. Used the bbq and some of the utensils were dirty. Again, Staff were apologetic for all of it.Overall disappointed with this location not worth the money we paid for the standards of a Hilton hotel . I have attached pictures of some of the issues.

Stayed at Homewood Suites by Hilton Somerset for the first time and was very happy. Staff was friendly and professional. Dealt mainly with Abdullah at the front desk who was welcoming and nice. Room was nice and reminded me of a small studio apartment. I liked how the room had a small kitchen, place to eat, etc. Pool and complimentary breakfast were great. Would definitely stay here again!

Hotel room was okay- cramped but workable. The pull out bed didn’t have any pillows for it and when I asked at the front desk they gave me a lumpy thing from the back room. There was no parking at all, I think due to a loud event they booked that ran pretty late. The nighttime staff were friendly. My real issue is that the daytime staff threw away a box of brand new baby bottles that were accidentally forgotten while I was on a quest for ice (every spot marked “ice machine” was empty and they told me I had to go to the hotel kitchen to get ice). We realized we had forgotten the bottles ten minutes after checking out and began calling but no one answered for over an hour. When we finally were able to get back to the hotel we were told they had thrown the bottles out because “we only put valuable things in the lost and found”. I wish I was exaggerating but this is a direct quote from Merle, who also told me that she had opted not to answer the phone for the last hour because she was the only staff there so she decided not to. The manager, Katie Fleider, was not in and promised to contact me to resolve the issue. It has been more than two weeks and she has not reached out or returned any of the messages I left. Absolutely ridiculous. I filed a formal complaint with corporate and they simply said the manager had to handle it.It’s a shame because the night staff were so friendly that I actually said something about it when I checked out. A very good friend lives across from this hotel and is having her first baby so we will be in town a lot and were excited to be able to stay somewhere with home amenities but this place is a complete joke.

Great staff and very homey. My favorite place to stay when I travel. The food is nice as well. It's perfectly located to multiple great places to eat. I've never had their morning breakfast but my wife loves it.
