Not withstanding the well earned reputation for failure associated with this franchise as a whole, the state of Somers Point's New Rd. location is particularly abysmal. The staff here, for whatever reason, are engaged in some perpetual game of hide and seek. When it comes to hide and seek, the staff here are world champion level. If only some of them were nearly as good at customer service, then maybe I wouldn't be walking down the isles looking for someone to ring me up for this Kit-kat ice cream so I can go on with my life. There also seems to be something blocking wireless signals from entering and/or leaving. Can't imagine what reason DG might have for this (keeping 1 Star reviews from reaching the outside world, ala North Korea comes to mind...).

Supposed to open at 8 am it’s 8:20 am now about 6 people came to this door knocked and were ignored. Pretty sad to see people in work clothes on their way to work to grab necessities and have to deal with this it sets you back

I’m a huge fan of this store! It is fast, convenient, and the staff is always friendly and efficient. (This store also carries Dairy Pure Lactose Free Milk, so I frequent this location to purchase it).Tonight, the staff went above and beyond good customer service! We went to “Trunk or Treat” up the street. The line was a few hundred people long and I didn’t have the patience to wait with a 2 and 4 year old. So I promised them that I would buy them candy. When we arrived, just making friendly conversation with the staff, we were not the first people to have this plan. The manager of the store took money out of her own pocket and bought candy so my kids could trick or treat in The Dollar General! So kind, so thoughtful, so generous! What a nice gesture for my kids to witness. Thank you again!!!

The white girl with the glasses has such an attitude ( maybe it's just the black customers). After being nice and kind to the customers in front of me, after standing in line 10 minutes with number balloons, she says "we don't have helium." Why not say "ma'am I'm sorry but we don't have helium" This lady gave me nothing but attitude. I won't go to this store ever again.

Me and my friend were both in dollar general, I asked him if he wanted the blue or red lollipop and he had said red. The manager said “is that your gang color? is that why you chose red?” We are both young black children and the racism that she brought out in that sentence is disgusting. The manager is constantly abusing her power as manager and banning people from the store over one small inconvenience, she doesn’t let kids in without a parent. For example, a woman, her child and her child’s friend went into dollar general and she had told them that he couldn’t come in because her child’s friend wasn’t actually her child. It’s absolutely ridiculous and that’s exactly why nobody wants to work here because they have poor service and they barely restock on anything.

Very similar to every other Dollar General store I have ever been at. Appears to be well-stocked, and clean. Seemed a little dark inside, not sure maybe they were trying to save on electricity with the lighting. They had everything I was looking for, the cashier was very pleasant, I was in and out very quickly.

Manager was super rude to me when I explained that every other dollar general will upload and withdrawal money off my debit card. Just because you don't know how to do and you're mad your working on Halloween doesn't mean you should take it out on your customers.

Not really a dollar store. Only 10% of their items were a dollar. Everything else is much more money. It was very clean and orderly. Store was very dark inside. Not many lights. Long line with only one check out person. Didn't really find any great deals. A disappoinment for me. They are a new store and maybe just getting their act together. People were in line to buy stuff, so maybe just a bad day for me.

Dollar general is my favorite, dollar store! Love it! They've got a lot of things over there,and a good price.Lately I bought a pair of jeans 12 dollars each,and some T-shirts 5 dollars each,and the attention fabulous!

For the most part friendly service the ones that havent been dont remain there long. Does look like they need help with stocking inventory since there are usually boxes near every aisle and the staff are working hard to stock and take care of customers (so not a lazy issue at all)

Very clean, I was expecting a regular dollar store but this is more of a supermarket. The lady at the counter I think her name was Jessica was a total professional. Friendly helpful and knowledgeable with a great personality. Not all items are a buck but very cheap.

Good merchandise, some really good values. Dark, overcrowded store, awkward parking lot. UPDATE: Visited store on 9/8/19. Wow! What a disaster! The store was dirty, dark and un-stocked - many shelves were at least partly empty. Uboats filled with merchandise were literally parked randomly in every aisle, making the aisles impassable. I seriously wanted to ask the cashier if they were closing, but she had her hands full trying to move a line with 8 or 9 customers with no back-up support. Actually, she seemed to be the only associate in the store - hopefully she wasn't. I won't be visiting this store again any time soon, and will be curious to see if they do indeed close.

There's a reason this chain is taking over the country. Bridging the gap between convenience stores like Wawa and major supermarkets, they offer a serviceable selection without killing you at the register. They even have some unique items. For instance you aren't going to find Monster Hydro beverages anywhere else in the area. Their online coupon app is also more reliable than other chains' systems. All in all it's a good place to pick up stuff in between bigger shopping trips.

The lady's that was in there was truly helpful to me. They we above and beyond from the time I walked in and walked out. Had a smile on my face right when I came in I wish more stores was like this and they also helped me save on the items I go. Thanks again lady's for all your help

Very rude older man working when I stopped in on Sunday 6/2 at 7:30 pm. He was too busy to help us, and heard him several time cursing loud enough for anyone in the next isle to plainly hear. At check out none of my digital coupons registered. When I asked for his assistance he stated he had nothing to do with that. The fool that I was I took my purchases and left angry and cheated out of several dollars. That will be my last visit to DG, Somers Point NJ!

I will be contacting headqrtrs regarding a young woman named Natasha who I was told is the manager at dollar general in SP. 625 new rd.A customer in front of me said she needed to go to her car to retrieve her wallet. So I and my cashier wait 5 minutes before the cashier mentioned she doesn't think she's coming back. ( my cashier was very kind and sweet btw)So I asked the cashier is there a way you can void that woman's purchase so I can pay you for my cpl items? ( she was only one ringing up anyone) This woman Natasha the manager heard this and said I don't have to do that. Bc my cashier needed the manager in order to void. The manager tells me ""no..don't tell me what to do.. We're waiting for her." First I never spoke to her at that point...i had only asked my cashier to void it. But the manager desperately wanted to jump in to our conversation ..to tell me no.So now my cashier goes outside to look for that costumer...AGAIN.Long story but she specially targeted me to harass by saying she doesn't have to void that woman's purchase .Now mind you I'm literally the only customer at the register. So my Cashier Comes back inside and tells the manager that the other customer obviously isn't coming back with her wallet.So as karma would have it....she now has to void it and ring me up. But not without her mouthing off to me that she STILL doesn't have to ring me up if she chooses!!!!. To which I told her I'm contacting headquarters And I will not be letting this go. Bc there is ZERO reason to behave so unprofessional to me. I told her that as well..and that this generation must not understand how costumer services work. Annoyed with someone or not..you smile and do your job. She didn't. She made it personal. While I was standing there with money to pay my cashier. And I'll tell you why I know she made it personal . a cpl days earlier I asked a question..that I wouldve asked even if I had known she was manager then...but BC SHE'S A YOUNG MANAGER I suppose it offended her that I asked this of her. This manager decided to be confrontational and verbally rude to me bc of the reason below! All bc the day before I was in and forgot toilet paper... all my stuff was being rung up and I didn't want to leave my cart & child etc so I asked if she wouldn't mind getting me a 4 pack of any brand of tp. She huffed puffed and rolled her eyes but she did it. ( I mean excuse me..but you do infact WORK here correct??)I guess she's sees her manager position as one where she doesn't have to help the customer or do much work and where she is free to harass customers. I don't think she appreciates her position..and is clearly abusing it.As I stated..there was zero reason for her behaviour ..she made it personal. And in a manager position? Iv never experienced such a childish/ immature "manager".Dollar general May want to rethink who they make manager. We're in there nearly daily. And I'm not letting it go until I talk to someone in a position higher then hers. Bc as she pointed out she's in charge. She had zero people skills and attacked me verbally!!! I'm floored over this..iv never experienced anything like it.( I should add, there are 2 registers. One not being used. I easily could've been rung up on the other register..but no. Bc it was personal.I even asked the manager..how long are you going to make me, a paying customer wait? When that other woman isn't even returning? )So bc of all that..this is now the First ever bad review or any that iv ever written. But she was horrible! to me. And i mean horrible! id truly hate to see anyone get treated this way . I don't even know this woman and yet she made it a personal attack.. again, for no reason. All Bc I asked my cashier to void the missing lady's item so I could purchased mine?? Or bc of TP the day before?? and after I and my cashier waited 5mins for the other lady to return?? Wow. Just No..it was completely a personal attack. AND COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND Unacceptable.That was UNACCEPTABLE treatment.So i'll be trying daily to reach headquarters.

I love this store. Its not a traditional dollar store. They sell brand name as well as generic products. The only drawbacks are the small parking lot and single entrance on Rt 9. Can cause minor traffic congestion.

Nice Store but pulling all the new stock on.U boats and leaving it in the aisle. Stinks. Hard to walk down almost every aisle . Someone needs to rethink that company policy

The store is an absolute mess you can barely get around the isles due to the U-boats being all over the place. Also the system that they use for there registers is MSDOS. there's always some sort of issue when being rung up
