I Have been getting my bicycles repaired and maintained at Halters for several years now and have always been extremely satisfied with the service. A couple years ago I purchased my first mountain bike. I visited several shops and with most I felt that I was not dealing with knowledgeable staff. This was not the case at Halters. They were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and got me on a mountain bike I have enjoyed riding. I have been doing triathlons on an old steel frame bicycle for over 20 years. My wife decided to surprise me with a new road bike for Christmas and called Halters hoping to have a bike for me on Christmas morning. I am sure they could have sold her something but they did the right thing and recommended giving me a picture and having me come into the shop myself to carefully consider my options. After answering my questions and listening to their recommendations, I ended up with an Orbea Orca. The 2+ hour fitting process that was included with my purchase was truly an educational experience and my maiden ride was amazing. Never thought that I could feel so comfortable and efficient on a bike. It will change the way I look at cycling. Would not go anywhere else.

This is a very, very delayed thank-you note to Halter's Cycles. I purchased my bike there about 11 years ago. I haven't used it much for the first few years, but for the past 6 years, I put around 600 miles a month in it. It is proof of their expertise and build quality that I had to have the first major service after 11 years (the ball bearing couldn't stand my post-COVID lockdown weight anymore). Until now I only had to replace tires and break pads, perhaps the chain once. Thanks again and keep on rolling like this! Amazing work!

I just purchased my second bike from Halter's and it was a great experience. Jason helped me find a bike that perfectly suits my body type and the kind of riding I want to do. This is my first full-suspension bike, and they were incredibly helpful and patient with my endless questions.

Spring 2023... When I pulled my 17-yr old Specialized hardtail out from winter storage for a new riding season, the front fork was no longer working, and I decided I needed a new bike. A bike buddy I trust recommended I go to HALTER'S. My experience there was spot-on what I was looking for: a relaxed store atmosphere, no sales pressure, only an obvious desire to get me fitted to the bike that I'd be happy with. After getting on 6 different bikes, I realized how much bikes had really improved from my old ride. I went home realizing that about 3 of the bikes I tried would be a dream to ride. Slept on it, and the next day I knew what I wanted (a Pivot Trail 429).. This bike shop has an excellent selection of bikes (especially mountain bikes), and a crew that is super knowledgable. Highly recommend. Thanks for hooking me up, Skip !

The best place to start in the world of bicycles. They have very good brands at the best prices. They have good customer service. They answer all questions professionally. Something that I really liked was the large number of accessories that they have. I recommend it 5 stars.

After many suggestions on where to go for a bike fit, I finally pulled the trigger and went here. Knew I'd be in for a few bucks as I knew my next step was getting more traditional road cycling shoes and pedals and away from the SPD stuff. The fit was very good and Don talked me through a lot of information. A lot I knew, some I didn't. Zoe helped too, pictured here. She saw my old shoes and vomited immediately which was the correct response. She let me sit in her chair for a bit so it's all good!I got to try out a different saddle for free which I very much appreciated, though I didn't ultimately need. I don't know how many places do that but I can't imagine many do, at least not from what I heard. The difference wasn't great enough for me to make the purchase so I returned it to the shop and thanked Don again.Shop is loaded with gear and bikes and friendly service. Overall the location is good and I got a minimal amount of "upsell" which I appreciate.

Easily the best bike shop in central NJ, dare I say all of NJ. Very knowledgeable staff are always ready to help or chat about bike stuff. Their selection is also one of the best I've ever seen. They carry great brands like Wolf Tooth, PNW, I9, Race face and more. They also have a great Park Tool selection, for the DIYers like me. Their Tire Wall is also one of the most diverse I've seen. Brands like Maxxis and Schwalbe are obviously present, but also Teravail, Vittoria, and WTB.They're also huge supporters of JORBA. So make sure to support businesses that support riders!

I have and will always recommend Halters Cycles to anyone who is looking for a great deal by super knowledgeable employees. My experience has always been excellent. My recent purchase of an Orbea Wild through the MYO program and working along with Halters was painless. Thank you Again Halters.

We used to live in the Princeton area and have moved to the Poconos. We tried bicycle shops closer to us. They only had one bike or none in the quality/price range that we were looking for. We had recently been mountain biking in a mountain biking area of Colorado and knew we wanted to upgrade our bicycles. We were looking for decent quality full suspension mountain bikes. We called Halter's he had several brands in different sizes and price range ready to take for a test ride. We drove the 2+ hours to get there. It was well worth the drive. Jason knew exactly what we what we were looking for. His team of sales and mechanics spent their time helping my husband and me find the perfect bikes for us. Then made sure the bikes were fitted and tuned for us. You couldn't get better customer service from anywhere. They spent 3 hours working on getting the best bikes for us and our needs. His prices were great for quality bicycles. Halters had as good of selection and knowledge as anyone out there. I sincerely recommend Halter's bike shop.Char and Lloyd

As an avid bicyclist who knows absolutely nothing about bicycle repair, I am grateful to Halter’s Cycles for allowing me to continue being ignorant about how my bike works. Not only do they always fix and tune my Trek 520 so that it rides smoother than when I first bought it (unfortunately the Princeton bicycle shop on Nassau Street that sold it to me did a terrible job assembling it, as I later learned on the bicycle’s maiden interstate voyage) but they also do so promptly, affordably, and honestly. As an example: most recently my rear brake was not working because the caliper was totally stuck. I assumed this meant I needed a new caliper and told them as much. Nope! Apparently just an odd broken brake cable. The next day my bicycle was ready for pickup and the cost was only $32. And the best part? They clearly tuned up the gear and breaking systems because the bicycle is once again performing better than when I first bought it. I am happy to be back on the road getting to my favorite saxophone spots and while it will be a sad day when my current bicycle goes RIP, I look forward to purchasing my next two wheel steed at Halter’s. In the meantime, thank you for the world-class care.

Jay and the guys at Halters won the award for accommodation and customer service last weekend when, on a busy September Friday, Jay fixed a broken spoke and changed both tires on my gravel bike - on sudden (really no) notice to get me ready for a Saturday benefit ride! Jay is obviously very knowledgeable and competent but was also efficient, friendly and thorough in his work! These guys rock! I will be coming back!

Great service and knowledge from Jason and his staff. Always helpful and friendly. We’ve bought a few bikes from Halter’s. The latest for my son, a Felt Broam. It was nice for my son to be able to try a variety of different types of bicycles. He picked a gravel bike! 👍🏻

Bought a road bike, accessories and a trainer from the team here and couldn’t be more happy with the prices and the service. Jason was incredibly knowledgeable regarding bike models, components, etc, and was willing to work with my limited time schedule to close the sale. Look forward to going back for the free bike fitting, and for any work that I need done over the years. Highly recommend this shop.

I rolled my bike into the shop earlier this week and the owner, Jason, greeted me at the door. He helped get my fat tire mongoose in and asked how he could help. I told him I needed my pedal repaired and a new crank. Right away I was told that the part I needed could only be ordered from the manufacturer of the bike and there was no way Halter’s could get the part I needed. I was disappointed and also annoyed that I dragged this big bike out the truck for no reason. I was then informed my handle bar was mounted incorrectly, but I was so bummed my bike wasn’t being fixed that I didn’t care about that. Without hesitation, Jason let me know he cared about my safety more than anything and voluntarily adjusted my handle bar free of charge! On top of that, he rolled my bike back to my truck and put it in my trunk for me. This small business owner went above and beyond to help a person out, whether they were going to buy services/parts from his store or not! He told me to contact the manufacturer for the part and if I get it he will install the piece. That evening I went home and got on the phone with the manufacturer! As soon as the part comes in you better believe I’ll be coming back because of his pleasant service the first time around. There are a few bike shops in my area and it would’ve been easy to go to another one for help but Jason’s customer service caused me to look no further.

What a great bike shop!! Did a bike fitting and Jason did an amazing job. Very thorough & systematic. The great thing was he kept explaining the why behind the adjustment so it will help you make minor adjustments. Highly recommended!!

Halters is the best bike shop in the area by mile. Since moving to NJ, I have purchased 5 bikes in 6 years for myself and my son. Jay, Skip, Don and the rest of the crew are all true professionals, while also being bike freaks. They build trails, support local road and MTB organizations and have thevmost complete selection of bikes, gear and services around.

After buying a bike for my son at Dick’s, which almost fell apart when he used it, I gave the Halter’s crew a try. The crew was very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The bike I got is awesome and my son loves it.

I'm new to cycling and had to get a new bike assembled and fitted. The team at Halter's was absolutely wonderful and a pleasure to work with. They are so knowledgeable about cycling and are passionate about what they do. Will definitely be back for any future needs as I progress in my training!

Jason and his team are experts in their craft! From start to finish, beginning with bike selection through the bike fitting process, it’s a complete cycling education. This is my second purchase and as expected, Halter’s Cycles never disappoints!

I haven't been here in 3 years. No reason too. But I knew what to expect. Nothing but excellence in customer service. I went for brake parts and for soon to be 4-year-old son to get fitted for bike. The advice for the brakes issue was quick and spot on. The patience the older gentlemen (do not recall his name) had in showing my son how to pedal was priceless. We spent about 45 minutes in the shop. I lived in Anchorage, Alaska for 9 years. This bike shop reminds me of how the shops were up there. Loads of bikes, a ton of parts/gear and a cool dog. I will easily take the 45-minute drive for anything when it comes to a bike. Nothing in my area is worth a even 10-minute drive. Nothing...

I've been buying and getting all my bikes repaired at Halters since 1995. I really can't say enough good things about Jason and everyone else in the shop. All our bikes have been just what we needed at the time. The prices are good, the repairs are rock solid. I've never had to get anything redone. All the bikes have been Cannondales: R500, R600, Quick, Synapse, and Caad 10, but I'd be happy to buy anything Jason suggests.I forgot to mention, I live in Manhattan. I found the shop when I worked in Princeton Junction. I haven't worked there in 22 years, but I still drive over an hour each way for service and a new bike when I need it.

Went to Halter's for a precision bike fitting on the recommendation of a friend who has been to local bike shops all over the country. It was a fantastic experience. Don is a wealth of knowledge and you can see his huge passion for cycling. Some people may just want to be in and out and have the staff just get the job done real quick. But this is the right way to do it. Don will explain everything in detail and the reasoning behind it. It was like taking a master class in the biomechanics of cycling.

My bike (Kona hybrid) is 8 years old and was a daily commuter for 5 of those years. I've taken it cross country on the back of my car twice, and once by plane. Only in the last few weeks did I notice a bit of trouble shifting and decided to test out Halters cycles after a lot of research for a tune up. I decided on the basic tune up ($100) and dropped it off 0 problem on a Saturday. The process was simple, and easy, they found the front tire needed replacement ($25) and had the bike ready to go by Tuesday.I cannot tell you how GIDDY, I was to get on this bike again. Picking it up was like seeing an old friend and I was practically bouncing around the store. Took it out today for a 30k bike and it was PERFECT. So many thanks to all the staff (especially Miss Zoe for allowing me to pet her during her BUSY day) and I know I found my new bike go-to store.

Worth the 1.5 hour drive to get a bike fit by Don! The change in bike fit after just a few hours was incredible. Don spends the time to explain what he is changing and why he's is changing it. Awesome experience!

Halters maintains a large stock of bikes, parts, accessories and clothing, and will order whatever you need if it isn't there. Service is professional and thorough, and the employees are kind and knowledgeable. They are patient with new cyclists despite being tremendously busy at peak hours.Although the above information should be enough to earn your business, J & the crew at Halters also work tirelessly to support the cycling community. They build and maintain trails at Six Mile Run State Park and are huge supporters of statewide advocacy groups and youth cycling initiatives. Lifelong customer here.

5 Stars does not even come close to the exceptional service Halter's Cycles provides and if there were more stars available, I would use them all! I have known Jason, the owner, and have been going to his store for over 8 years now and have always had a great experience.I first met Jason when I went to his store to purchase my first road bike, an orange Cannondale Synapse. Jason took the time to understand my riding goals, my needs and wants from a bike. From there, he showed me a few bikes and allowed me to demo each and everyone of them. Once I decided on the bike that I felt most comfortable on, he provided me a professional fit to ensure I was even more comfortable on the bike. During this first fit, Jason spent hours with me, making minor adjustments that made a world of a difference in comfort level!Since I had such a wonderful experience with Jason I recommended him to my parents and my in-laws who then recommended Jason to their friends, whom all ended up purchasing bikes from him and were pleased with the service provided.Over 8 years has passed since I purchased my first road bike and my riding goals have changed from recreational to riding for a women's competitive race team. To this day, I still go to Halter's to get my bikes serviced and my fits adjusted and I couldn't be happier.Jason and his team are avid riders themselves and are enthusiastic about the sport and it shows through their engagement with customers. When you walk through the doors of Halter's you will be sure to enjoy your experience!
