On a recommendation, I started bringing Bella (my Persian cat) to Mel's for grooming and it was the best decision ever!Since moving back to the area, I was having a hard-time finding a groomer who provided high-quality, personalized service to cats and dogs. Mel exceeded our expectations in every way, and as a bonus for us, her shop was located close to our home.On each visit, Mel takes the time to look over Bella, and she discusses her needs, and explains what she will be doing with Bella before we leave. I appreciate how Mel takes her time to educate me on what is most humane way to be grooming Bella, and also why she will need to groom her a certain way because it ensures that Bella is not suffering.Since we started bringing Bella to Mel, Bella has not had matted hair, which means she can run, and jump, and play, and stretch out her cute little paws, without having the matted hair pull at her skin or stop her from moving freely.Bella has grown out a beautiful coat of hair, but it is also at a length that we can manage, and it doesn't get matted. I love how good Bella smells after she is bathed, but most of all, I love the little touches, like when Mel adds a bow to Bella's hair, or a little scarf around her neck.I love that Mel takes her time with all the pets she cares for (especially cats), and she allows them plenty of time to relax throughout the grooming process. Mel ensures that Bella (who is a scaredy cat) is comfortable while she is at Mel's shop, and when Bella leaves she is comfortable, and feeling like her sassy-kitty self afterwards.The most important thing, is that Mel has taken the time to get to know me and my pet to provide us with that level of service, and personal treatment, we had been hoping for with a local groomer.

Mel and her staff did an excellent job with our puppy. It was his first grooming and he was nervous. But they were calm and patient. We are definitely going to use them again.

We had just gotten our puppy about two weeks ago and noticed that he was in need of a really good grooming. Our puppy gets nervous around new people, has pretty bad separation anxiety, and feels uncomfortable with whoever he may encounter at first. I had been looking into groomers around my area, though they all were inflexible with scheduling. However, Mel was so understanding and kind enough to take our puppy in the next day and she's generally very flexible with her scheduling. She was so sweet over the phone, we had a great conversation! She asked me all the information she needed to know to make sure our puppy would have the best grooming possible. Once we arrived, we explained our situation to her and she and the staff were extremely understanding and got along so well with our puppy. She was holding our puppy so happily as we walked in, it was evident she cares a lot for the dogs she grooms. She took her time caring for our puppy and called us 30 minutes in advance for us to pick him up. She followed the instructions we gave her in terms of his haircut and she did an excellent job, even gave him a cute bandana. Her pricing was inexpensive and she did not fail to impress. I will definitely bring my puppy here routinely! Definitely go here if you can!!

I love Mel and the entire staff. I have two little dogs one with anxiety and one with small dog syndrome who hates the car so to a trip to Mels is dramatic to say the least. The staff know the dogs well and their behaviors . The always come home looking and smelling wonderfull. You can tell they really love all the animals and the dogs love them too.

I took my 9month old dog to Mel’s earlier this week and I couldn’t be happier. It was so easy to get an appointment, and she got me in around my convenience. She takes such good care of your pet, and you can tell she truly cares. My dog also came back sooo fluffy and soft (and shedding less!). I took her to another local groomer a few months ago - and she had no where near the results that she had with Mel this time around.I will go no where else with my pup except Mel’s!

Honestly can not say enough great things about Mel, I held an adoption event and invited her to come. As soon as Mel go to the event she started walking around making sure all the dogs got a mail clipping before going to their new homes. She even took one of the senior dogs who had previously been used as a bait dog and brought her into the van for a bath making sure she was shown the love she deserved. Mel ended up taking this dog to show give her the life she knows it deserves. Mel shows nothing but compassion and care for all dogs, just from her actions at this event in a 3 hour span shows that she will do anything for a customers dog to make a dog gets the care they deserve. Do not hesitate do not think twice hire Mel whenever you dog needs to be groomed you will not regret it

Been going to Mel’s for about a year now and she is the best groomer I’ve ever been to. I have a Shih Tzu-Pekingese mix with long, thick hair. Mel never shaves her down, she is super gentle with her, and always leaves her looking AMAZING! She’ll always leave your pup the way YOU like them to look, while always adding her special touch. My dog has a lot of anxiety and Mel and her team make her feel so comfortable. Appointments are always available and I never have an issue with her taking too long. If you’re in the area, this is the #1 groomer by far!

I went to Mel's Pet Parlor with my new, very timid rescue dog for the first time last week. Both my dog, Lady, and I couldn't be happier with Mel, her assistant and the entire experience we had. Besides permitting me to stay during the grooming, Mel immediately developed a wonderful rapport with Lady who showed no signs of fear and cooperated fully throughout the process. Before leaving I made my appointment for next month, greatly relieved that I had found such a sensitive, loving and capable groomer who was more than reasonable with her prices. I can't say enough positive things about these women and how thrilled I am about having found them and this grooming salon.

One of the best groomers in the area. Mel really knows her way around grooming. We have a super anxious puppy and he freaks out just at the word bath. But, when we take him to Mel's she's able to keep him calm and occupied enough to get in a bath and a hair cut! Her prices are really great for her services as well!

I'm a new dog parent to a wonderful Beagle - Jack Russell mix. She is wonderful with people, absolutely hates other dogs. I was concerned bringing her to a groomer but the young lady at Mel's made me feel comfortable that she would help her behave herself (I think her name is Christine).Our little Bessie was perfectly groomed, nails cut and ears clean as a whistle. Oh and she smelled amazing. Best part, she was a little diva-ish but they helped her be a lady around the other guests and return her to me safely.Absolutely recommend Mel's.

I volunteer for a local rescue, and on occasion we get pups that need more intensive grooming than I can provide. That was the case with a schnauzer mix by the name of Butterball that arrived recently!One call to Mel was all it took to get that baby looking picture perfect and ready for his adoption! And all done as a donation to the rescue!I highly recommend this groomer. She is professional, friendly and does quality work, not to mention her obvious love for her four-legged clients!

Spoke with Mel who is now doing mobile grooming ( Mel’s mobile grooming) we set an appointment for today and she never showed up. I been sending her text messages and she’s stopped responding after we set a date. I think it’s very rude and so unprofessional. My dogs don’t deserve that treatment. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone!!! Terrible service!! You are better off finding someone else who is reliable!

I went to Mel's Pet Parlor for the first time with my 10 yr old chocolate lab. They were patient and very comforting to our girl. The love for all animals being groomed was shown by Mel and her staff. It was a positive experience for Sheba and her family. So glad that we found this grooming salon.

Mel's Pet Parlor is amazing. We have a much older English Mastiff and Mel and her staff are amazing with her and extremely patient. We are so lucky that we live so close and can walk there. Wish I could give more than 5 stars.

Mel's pet parlor is amazing place to go for your pets grooming needs. I've been bring my pit bull there for a year's now to get his nails cut and excellent work ever time .... She's also very sweet and gentle with your pet . I've been to other places before like Petsmart and Petco for his nails and there not that good ... All they did was sand them down which just made them even shaper not good for a pit bull because there nails are very long and have to be trim down or it will over hurt there paws.

Very disappointed! Have been going to Mel’s for some time now, few times while giving instructions on how to groom my dog they actually did listen, therefore, I kept going and kept giving them another chance. However, today’s grooming drew the line! Gave Mel precise instructions, trim my dogs body, trim.., cut his face short, trim his butt area with scissors because he’s irritated after shaving too short, cut his ears short, never touch his eyelashes. They did all the opposite! His fur was cut from 2 inches to a quarter inch, where it’s winter for God sakes and it’s cold, his butt shaved, eyelashes cut, ears cut unevenly but his face left only trimmed. Not sure what happened, I feel like I was ignored and not listen to. Will not go back and will not give anymore chances. I’m done with this place! Be aware!!! We want our pups to be groomed to our likings not the groomers, especially after giving specific instructions.

We have been taking our two dogs to Mel's for the better part of four years and every single time they are professional and wonderful. We really feel that they care about our pets and every time, our dogs come out looking beautiful. About five months ago we tragically lost one of our dogs at the age of three. It was really hard bringing our other dog in, who was feeling the stress of the loss and in poor shape, and they were so good to us and even mourned our dog with us, shedding some tears of their own. When we picked our dog up from them, not only did she look happy, but they had given her a bandana and a sweater free of charge to keep her warm. It was a really kind thing to do and that is the type of thing that really makes a small business shine and helped our family in the process. Highly recommend them.

Omg a true hidden gem! I brought my dog Logan in to get a hair cut and I was so happy with the result. Logan is really timid, and has long hair that usually gets natted. I have to say that I was so amazed at how perfect Logan looked, and how calm he was. Usually he's jumping and crying when he sees me, but this time he was so calm, and didn't even get car sick on the ride home (super rare). The best thing about them are their prices, they're more than fair and you get exactly what you pay for and more, in my opinion. I have struggled for years, with several dogs, on finding a perfect groomer and I think we've finally found the one. Thank you so much again Mel, you've made this an absolutely wonderful experience.

The owner and staff are friendly & knowledgeable. I moved to Nj a little over a year ago and kept driving to NYC to get my fur babies groomed. Since I've found this hidden gem in sayerville my puppies and I are very happy. I have two CH line Pomeranians there coats need quality care and she has never butchered there coats. The owner Mel even stood open just to groom one of my dogs on a last minute emergency. Her prices are fair my dogs are happy and look amazing.

They made him very comfortable and when I returned to pick him up he smelled nice and didn't have a single knot in his hair. This has definitely been the best experience my dog has ever had a groomer.
