Excellent experience and great work by the entire team. I am very pleased with the replacement patio. They removed the old (red bricks, trex stairs), installed the new (brownstone), cleaned up after themselves AND fixed up the driveway and surrounding area better than it was when they started. I had a minor concern about some of the sand breaking up (from heavy rain the day after install) and they came right out and fixed it. Six stars - highly recommended.

I can honestly say it was well worth the trip here from Pennsylvania for my annual visit to stock up on some quality plants for my yard. All of the employees here are so pleasant and welcoming and eager to help. Patrick has been there for several years and he is so incredibly helpful - I was looking to purchase several specific geraniums that were hard to find... he took my name and number to call me when these plants came in to the nursery. Well, Patrick came through for me as I got his call and I just purchased these plants today.... I'm so happy to have found these beauties. Excellent customer service!!! THANK YOU Patrick and staff!!! When a retail establishment takes the extra effort and love to present itself to its customers with such grace and beauty it’s only fitting to acknowledge it to the public.I drive past Rutgers Landscape & Nursery multiple times a week as I travel from Pennsylvania into NJ. I’ve purchased many beautiful items and plants from them in the past. Yesterday I stopped in looking for a specific items which they had available in many choices. I was taken by the beauty & care of presentations /displays at every turn. A feast for eyes. Much like the care & pride store owners took in years past and do so now in European counties.Kudos to Rutgers Landscape & Nursery & thank you for caring enough to make shopping with you a magical experience.

The service couldn't be any better. Three tree experts came exactly at the scheduled time with the two gorgeous holly trees we purchased from the nursery. First, we confirmed placement and before I knew it, holes were dug and the trees were nestled into their new home. We appreciated the mulch provided as well as the tree care advise.

For some time now I have been looking to purchase some larger shrubs for my residential and commercial properties and have visited most of the nurseries in Hunterdon County in search of the best value for my money.What I discovered was without question Rutgers Landscaping & Nursery offered the best selection of high-quality native shrubs that they grow locally on their 62-acre nursery property, versus the shrubs offered by other nurseries that are imported from out of state, and not necessarily freshly dug, so who knows how long they have been sitting there waiting to be purchased.In addition to offering superb nursery stock, I also discovered that they also offer outstanding service. We have been going to Rutgers Landscaping for years. Never have been disappointed. Their nursery stock is amazing and plentiful. The nursery people are extremely helpful and extremely knowledgeable. Had our landscape redesigned and new side walks installed. The crew who installed all of it did an excellent job!

Meh, I had a 5 star review from a few years ago that must have gotten deleted.Overall experience with nursery has always been pleasant. Everyone is friendly. However communication with this company is a joke. Will not be using Rutgers going forward.*Received a very nice call back today from the customer service team at Rutgers today regarding our delivery and that there truck broke down and they wouldn't be able to install but definitely first thing tomorrow and really apologized. Why our salesman Chris can't be bothered to respond with a quick text is beyond me. Possibly doesn't work there anymore, you'll have to let me know.

Joanna, Jeff and the management team are excellent!! I worked with Jeff 2 years ago to help with my home landscaping design. One shrub didn’t make it, due to lack of watering issue so I recently called them and spoke to Joanna who went above and beyond to get me the exact same replacement shrub I needed. Excellent customer service, great selection and sales throughout the year!

Their tree and shrub nursery section has a large variety of items and is very well stocked. I wish the flower annuals had a larger selection, it was really kind of skimpy before Mother's Day. Maybe they have more now? They are expensive, but when they have 30% off in the Spring it is a good deal compared to nurseries further north. They are very helpful and knowledgeable on the items that they do have. When they have a sale I will make the trip from Budd Lake to purchase more items.

Very nice place which showcases their design and attention to detail. Lots of plants in burlap as well as pots. They sell perennials as well as annuals at a fair price for the quality of the goods. Some of the best quality of the nearby nurserys. Staff is also very friendly.

If they treat someone who spent $$$$$$ for an entire property renovation poorly, how will they treat you? Maybe a good place if you are a having a couple shrubs or trees. Terrible for large projects. Project management was supposed to keep the work going every day until done, which did NOT happen. Dragged on.Rutgers Nursery must be under new ownership, I don't see the former owner, Jim Brophy, listed in the company biographies. The quality of design and timeliness of installation has dropped in the past few years. It used to be a good place although very expensive. We have moved on to a degreed and qualified landscape ARCHITECT instead of free Rutgers landscape designers. You get what you pay for? No, we paid plenty and response was poor. "Let us take care of everything" is a laughable Rutgers Nursery slogan when you have to constantly make sure that your project is making progress. There's lots of urgency when they want a down payment but no urgency to come finish the work. A very aggravating experience. And get this after all the money spent they could not even give me 30 percent off one tree we were interested in during their end of year sale. Seriously flawed customer service. I give them three stars because the guys who actually do the work are hardworking.IMPORTANT: Despite paying Rutgers Nursery, and after a year of waiting, we had to hire another company to take away construction debris and gravel from a large temporary gravel drive, put down soil for elevation correction, install perimeter trees and re-sod at our additional cost. Rutgers Nursery also failed to properly prevent tree damage by driving trucks and piling up construction material on feeder roots of a large, decades old tree. This damage by Rutgers Nursery (who should know about trees?) resulted in tree death per several licensed arborists. Our additional cost to take down the large dead tree, take away and stump grind was $6k. The arborist said Rutgers could have put down wood boards around the tree to at least spread out the weight.Choose wisely.

Hired Rutgers for our large total landscape redo!! 30+ years of old stuff over grown - gone! Beautiful healthy full new in all in one day!! Worked with Dave on design, he is very knowledgeable- really worked with us to develop our vision- even was managing our day of plant change decisions! The crew was incredibly hard working! Professional and friendly- they even called in two extra guys mid way to make sure work was done and without cutting corners.Overall very pleased will utilize their services again! - Happy in Hunterdon - 2020

Very visually appealing nursery/garden center with a decent amount of stock. They sell mature plants in mostly gallon or larger pots. The advantage is that the mature plants make one's garden look full quickly, the downside to mature plants is generally cost. They look to stock mostly plants from Monrovia, so one could assume the plants from CT or GA, this is not necessarily bad or good, just understand you will most likely not be getting a locally raised plant.To sum it up, very attractive garden center, expensive, decent stock, plants are for the most part not locally raised. If you are in the area stop in, otherwise find a good local nursery and save the trip.

We had a Graduation party for my son on Saturday night the weather did not cooperate but the staff moved everything to make sure everyone was comfortable. All my guess where amazed how beautiful the place was they said they never have seen a garden center so beautiful. Having a event or just want to stop by I would highly recommend contacting Rutgers they have it all and for events they have a great caterer Blawenberg Bistro they did a great job for us

Came for the weekly children's reading and arts and crafts group. No reservations needed. More than a dozen children from 1 to 6 yes. Male and female guardians/grandparents and pets. Outdoor in good weather. Bring cupcakes for all if you want to celebrate your child's birthday 🎂

Terrible Experience - They must have had a change of management. Simply needed replacement of 3 trees damage from the winter storms - first they told me they do not do that any more. They don't do landscaping or plant trees? Ok. I got someone else to remove the trees. Then I ask them just to deliver and plant trees. To get to this point it took just under 20 phone calls. Once we agreed on what they will and would not do ... they hounded me for the money. After I paid my down payment (expensive as hell), I have not heard from them since. This started in late March. Still waiting for my trees.

EDIT/UPDATE: I am leaving my original review below but updating. After posting my review Rutgers contacted me immediately. They came out, saw the location, agreed there was an issue and sent a crew out to remove the sedge. There still, and always will be, an issue but now is is manageable for me. I only spend about 30 minutes a week pulling sedge now as opposed to multiple hours. Everyone who came out was professional, courteous, and helpful.I hava lthought a long time about writing this but have finally decided to put my experience down. We had a section of our yard that was a wet area filled with a fast growing grass. My specific requests for the project were to not deal with the grass anymore and plant native plants. They removed the top layer of grass and planted native plants and added some stone. Many of the plants struggled and they replaced them. Here is now the major issue that, if I want to resolve it, will cost me thousands more dollars. The grass continued to come back, I contacted Rutgers again and they told me they were simple weeds and to use preen. Grass continued to grow and come back. By using a free application on my phone we were able to figure out this is Nutgrass that is massively invasive and grows from tubers. This is important for two reasons. The first is that as garden experts they should have known this, and told us we needed to remove the soil in order to get rid of the Nutgrass Secondly the grass grows from tubers and preen does not work on tubers. From the image they portray I expected much more knowledge and attention to our project. It is unfortunate that I spent thousands of dollars to have them not fix the problem, and in order to actually fix the problem I would have to remove all of their plantings, plantings I've added, the soil, and the rocks.
