I went shopping at McCaffrey’s Princeton and was in awe! The store looked like a winter wonderland filled with everything that I needed for the holidays. The displays were very well-presented and they have so many Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers, I personally bought hot chocolate sticks and Godiva gift box for my kids teachers.The staff is very pleasant and go above & beyond! I was very pleased with my experience at McCaffrey’s and will be returning again for all my holiday shopping needs!

Somehow this supermarket is worse than it used to be. Today, it was out of garlic (yes, garlic), zucchini, and ginger. It’s convenient having a supermarket here so I hope they can turn it around.

Small but extensive grocery store, part of a tiny regional chain. Has its own brands of fresh meats and other products, and everything is of the highest quality. The staff is friendly and courteous and goes the extra distance to serve their customers. The tradeoff is that their prices are noticeably higher than the big chain grocery stores; a shopping trip here may run upwards of 20% more than you might pay at Shop-Rite or Stop 'n' Shop.

This is the only supermarket in Princeton area that I can reliably find Horizon skim milk, and that WAS the only reason why I shopped there. I prefer Wegmans for their baked foods, produce, and fruits selection. Trader Joe's have much interesting options for snacks. Whole Foods can be an emergency stand-in.But McCaffrey's no more.A few months back I ordered a birthday cake several days before my daughter's birthday over the phone. I specifically requested a cake for five. When I arrived to pick up, I got a very small cake that was probably good for 2-3 people but definitely not for five. I asked the person behind the counter. He told me in a straight face that the cake was definitely big enough for five. I called his manager and she apologized, and pulled out an already-made cake for five and sold that to me instead.More recently we went there one weekend afternoon for grocery shopping. When done we used their self-checkout lane. Throughout the whole scanning process, we were closely watched by their employees standing right next to us. They intervened multiple times to make sure we did it right because some of their produce didn't have labels. We felt very disrespected for being treated like suspected thieves.Fine. You profiled us due to our race. You will not have our business anymore.

Wow! Wow! Wow! If you want "The Food Shopping Experience of Your Lifetime" shop at this store. As far as selection, quality, quantity and ambience of a "super" market, this place is the "Superman" of food stores. Take a ride, take your time and investigate this place for yourself. You will not be disappointed. (And, while your there, you may want to try the creamed coleslaw. It's one of my favorites.)

Came in to this store about 3 times to shop for instacart each time I was watched by workers and stared at the self checkout the entire time and no one else was being scudded but me. They even called for backup ( so there were 3 workers watching me) when I was simply just checking out my items. Very uncomfortable to shop here as a BLACK PERSON. Although the store is nice and the lobster rolls are delicious the workers are VERY RUDE and not helpful at all I would ask where an item was and each worker I would ask would tell me they didn’t sell it then I would find it myself seemed like no one wanted to help me. I will never step foot in this store again. If I could give zero stars I would.

I did self-check out. The staffs were in front of me watching me check out “every single” step, and stopped me 4 times to check my items. There were other 6 check out stations and so many people there, they eyed on us, Asian couple for what reasons? I self checked in Wholefood or other stores many times , have never been so “”cared” and to be honest is intuitively humiliating. Later an old white lady came to me yelled at me said I was in self checked, I shall be watched. What? I have never thought now the society has gone this far that I thought self check out is a favor for store staffing also for customers to be able to self pacing check out not to be thrown products. Anyway, ethos town was never friendly to diversity, and this store self check is disgusting!!

I love this supermarket! My parents took me here every weekend as a child and now I stop by whenever I'm in the area.I came for the first time in a while and it exceeded all my expectations and brought back great memories.There was a huge selection of items - they have a fantastic bakery with mccafereys-made deserts/ bread, someone working at a coffee spot, lots of pre-made foods and even a good sized liquor area. The bread and desserts were all so delicious! I ate half a loaf of sourdough in one sitting ❤️

Got my thanksgiving dinner from McCaffrey's. To say it was disappointing is an understatement. The stuffing was watery, the mashed potatoes were like spackle, the brussel sprouts had no flavor, the rolls were unremarkable... Nobody wanted to take leftovers.. it was embarrassing. For what I paid, I expected it to be much much better. I will never order from there again.

Hello I came into the store couple days ago it's a great store unfortunately the prepared food worker was very rude and talking about something totally inappropriate with one of your male cashiers I believe his name tag said Keith very inappropriate work behavior. Talk disgusting about females and the male cashier was laughing 😃 and on his cellphone. I don't understand why no one could see or hear this disgusting conversation taking place. This was at your Princeton nj location. I will let you know this in not the first time I heard these 2 gentlemen talking in this manner.

On August 12th, my family had food catered from McCaffrey's. It was the best experience. We ordered from several different departments and everything was fresh and tasty. The price was affordable. But most importantly everything ran smoothly for our special day. The staff was helpful and polite. The managers were all great and a huge shout out to Ruben the manager for the day. Will be back definitely!

This store is great, it has Beyond Meat, it taste like meat, but it's not a real meat, made from mixtures of soy protein, pea protein isolates, yeast, and other ingredients. Give it a try.

update: 3/2024 The prices in this store about about 15-25% higher than other local stores. I am so disappointed in this store. been shopping here since it started. These days the sale prices are the retail prices of a year ago. it's just sad. Clearly corporate greed, when i thought so highly of the folks that run this before. Oh well. All things must change. I am sure no one who works there, even with their discount can afford to shop there either.

McCaffrey's is our go-to supermarket in town. The grocery selection is sufficiently broad. The produce is fresh, the meat, deli and bakery items are all very good. They have an excellent selection of prepared foods. While not cheap, the products, service and experience make it worthwhile.

I would love to rate 5 stars as it seems like a nice upscale supermarket, but some stores seem like the staff is so driven to get items out that they don't have time to help customers. I've corresponded with stock clerks and even leadership in isles while looking for groceries, and it's more than one person, more than one department. It's disappointing. The customers drive your business. Only the produce department is consistently open to help customers and dairy. But most other deparseem "too busy to help". That turns a great shopping experience into a miserable one, unfortunately.

Customer service is apparently non-existent anymore here with the night cashiers. Dori by the back door kept puttering out items BACK onto the belt after she rings them up and then yells at us when we try to organize it so it’s EASIER for HER to do, then tries to laugh it off like she thinks she’s funny. Get better people. Please.

I ordered a cake early in the week for pickup Friday morning. They did a great job based on a photo I provided (found online). Attendees at the office baby shower loved the cake and everyone agreed it was decorated well. $15 extra for the custom design. $55 total for two layer quarter sheet with filling.

Hello. Just a word to the wise. At this time the seafood department closes at 7 PM although the store is open until 9 PM. The Manager was not sure when the change happened although as a customer --one sees different things. Anyway due to staffing issues the Market is unable to offer this service. Hopefully they will offer their employees an incentive in order to keep up the standards we all have come to love and expect.

This was an awful place to work, I would honestly never advise anyone to work here. They can't even keep the store clean, it caused actual injuries in the bathrooms. They also break labor laws and don't care about their employees. Everyone calls out for no reason but they don't discipline them but if you call out for a legit reason they get mad and discipline you. I wouldn't support this organization anymore.

Been shopping in this supermarket for 20+ years. This store has a fantastic seafood department run by people that know how to buy and present seafood. Best quality of fresh seafood at reasonable prices (especially if you have their McCaffrey’s card), which provides a weekly discount on select seafood. Best in Mercer County!Meat department is also good for select items, such as dry-aged beef, prime steaks ( including dry-aged and prime Porterhouse, Strip and Rib-Eye cuts.Another item they pride themselves on is their McCaffrey's brand rack of lamb. They used to carry only it, but now they carry D’artagnan, which is imported and has a lot more fat. The taste between the two is not comparable. The McCaffrey domestic grown rack of lamb is trimmed of most fat and a taste treat. Keep in mind, price reflects the quality.The only downside to shopping here is the store has a much smaller selection than the other markets in the area in organic fruit and produce. Most of their fruits and veggies are conventional. Whole Foods beats them on organic produce and fruits, but Whole Foods can’t compete in seafood. Trust me and check out their seafood department at McCaffrey’s and don’t forget to pickup some of their domestic McCaffreys brand lamb - chops, leg of lamb, or rack of lamb. You won’t regret it.

There seems to be a storewide feeling of disdain around the store when you enter. People who share that attitude love it here. But few people seem to love it here.
