Lady with brown hair and bangs at self check out counter is a real bit.... Liked foodtown for the convenience for small items. But I never had a bad experience at shoprite. I'll just spend my $$ there. Not once but twice bad experience with her. Never again.

It's a nice little place but sometimes they have quanity issues(meaning out of something) which sucks. I really dislike going back to a place cause they didn't have enough of a sale item.

The cashiers are under ghetto patrol and think everyone is a thief as they search your bags you bring in . I will not shop in a place that has marginal prices with smackass attitude.

Would give more stars if they didn't randomly start closing an hour earlier for no good reason

I never have a problem with service here, sale prices are good on a lot of items but they can be a little higher on regular priced items compared to other supermarkets. Good variety, smaller market compared to others but it’s comfortable and staff is pleasant. They have very good store fried chicken and other prepared foods. Online and curbside is very good. Only reason for 4 stars is because some of the product is limited. Overall Foodtown is a nice change of pace from the massive and super crowded supermarkets.

Poor experience in self-checkout today! As I approached the machine the elderly man across from me asked the self-check-out monitor to not touch his food. This is understandable as it gives more opportunity for cross contamination. When the man walked out the monitor and another worker started complaining about him and other customers. Almost the entire time I scanned I had to listen to their disparaging comments about customers. Multiple times the monitor was in my personal space. Also, after I moved a full bag to the upper bag level to make room for a new bag and the machine didn’t like it, she started reaching inside the bags of already scanned items looking for what I last scanned. I was not happy but after the elderly man I let it slide. However, the last straw was when I was reprimanded because I came in the self-checkout line. She told me that the line is only for 30 items and then she looked at her screen and said, “and you had 36.” I informed her that I looked for a sign to see what the limit was, and she said there is no sign but she is telling me this now so I do NOT come in the line again with more than 30 items. Again? After this experience, there will not be an again, especially due to the putting hands inside already scanned bags of food as that could be considered a health concern!

Food town self check terrible due to the older lady about 60That is a hawk eye watching her screen and no help when you need it. She just makes sure you don’t steal anything but her real job is to help customers but she doesn’t she is very nasty and not friendly at all. She acts that way every time I go to port Monmouth food town 60 times at least but today finally put the icing on the cake I will no longer go to food town ShopRite is my next best friend not horrible over priced unfriendly food town. ShopRite is worth the extra drive great great prices and friendly workers

I only go here if I have too - most items are priced higher than Shoprite - wish the prices were better because it's so close to me but it's worth the trip to Shoprite for the savings - especially the produce -

The staff is very friendly. The shop on line for curbside pick up is spot on as well as the courtesy desk. These people are dedicated to the customers needs.

9/2 4:19pm. You know what’s sad, everyone in this store is so polite and well mannered. I changed 5 stars to 1 bc if the last woman I just encountered. Listen, we all have “those days” and it’s nothing to bad review about; but you.. no. The fact that you had greeted every single person in line before me (ppl that ignored you) is the reason why this is being posted. I came to the counter like I always do in the store, with a smile saying “hi how are you” The reason for you ignoring me was what? You know what lady, if you are going to judge me or “hate” me bc of my appearance, then you need to seek professional help bc that’s not healthy. Especially after I was smiling and greeted you. This is the difference between you and I, if you ever walked into my emergency room, I would never judge ur appearance while literally helping you. - signed.. the woman with all the tattoos and muscles, that usually wears scrubs while shopping.

The cashier's are a revolving door. I've never seen so many people come and go. Passionate employees , but extremely poor management. To the point where I know their names. Produce department is extremely lacking, but it's a good place to go if you need something quick. Although, they may not have it. Deli department will make you fresh food if you ask , right there. Not a lot of people know that!

I have gone to this store since I was a little girl, even when it was on the other side of the highway. The deli counter was very accommodating! I came in as she was cleaning up and she took my order anyway! She could have very easily told me I was too late, and honestly, I sort of expected that because I have heard it from other grocery stores. I totally appreciate the woman that closed on Wednesday, May 16! Thank you!!

Not in the same league as Wegmans or some of the Shop Rites in the area but not a bad store. Decent selection for a medium sized store. Prices are a bit high on many items but not excessively so. Deli needs to be expanded and all items clearly priced. Store is neat, clean, and the staff is very professional. Liquor store inside is very convenient and offers an adequate selection.

They always have anything I need to get (holiday or not) the liquor store section they have which is kept about 80-85% hidden so you can't tell right off the bat what it is....for the parents with the kids that are shopping. Most importantly, I don't think I have ever had one of those moments when it takes you 5 birthdays to complete your shopping, pay for it and leave. Most important, I have never had a bad experience with an employee giving me and attitude or didn't want to help me at all.

This establishment has a great produce department. However, the store is extremely difficult to navigate. Whatever happened to simple straight rows all going in the same direvtion? I feel like I'm in a maze when I'm walking through & trying to find things in this store. For this reason I don't shop at this store on a regular basis. I go out of my way to avoid it.

They make great sandwiches. I picked up a whole Roast beef, cheese, lettuce, onions & mayonnaise. The Roast beef was juicy & tender, very good. I pick up Arizona 2 one gallon lemonades, the best. And some Turkey & cheese for the rest of the weeks lunch for work.i try to go twice a month.

The prices here are always higher than any other store and quality and selection is poor. The chicken is smelly and packaged poorly. It leaks all over when you pick it up. The only thing that is better quality is the produce but the prices are 50 cents to more than a dollar higher than any other supermarket in the area. Most sale items are all processed food which is unhealthy and obesity-causing. Sale items are always out of stock so prepare to have to get rain checks for sales because they never stock enough of these.

Foodtown is great! Their meats are better than any other grocer in the area. I've tried them all and the meat is too dry, tough, or flavorless. I stopped trying to find better meats a while ago. Now my family gets a flavorful, juicy piece of meat every time. Thanks, Foodtown!

SUPER SMELLYTOWN is more like it. The smell of mildew in the meat department next to the bakery is rancid. Their molded and OVERPRICED items in the store make you livid. It's sickening how they're still in business. Almost everything is about to be expired so don't buy it if you're not eating it SOON. The employees get treated like inmates as I overheard a manager tell a cashier not to talk to the other cashier when the place was EMPTY!!!

Not a very large selection, but I wasn't worn out from walking several miles in the store. It is well laid out. The staff is friendly, courteous and helpful. The check out lines are minimal.

It's an older store, prices are just ok. Sales are usually the best way to save some money here. It's not so good for complete food shopping. The attached liquor store and the close proximity to me make is a very convenient place to shop for any daily or urgent things I might need.

Michelle at customer service had nothing but attitude when I told her I was over charged for cat food and I went to customer service to say I was charged .80 cents a can for 7 cans of food and I had two different types of food 4 Cans For $0.60 3 cans for $0.80 and she was having a really tough time understanding that the woman at the register charged me $0.80 for all 7 cans instead of the right price and scanning them one at a time.michelle had nothing but nasty comments to say when I was just asking her to look at the receipt Michelle would not look at the receipt and was trying to do a refund on three cans that were $0.80 and then charge me for four cans that were $0.60 and kept on telling me that the price comes out to $2.40 and $2.40 so it came out to $4.80 and I was charged $5.60 plus tax at this point Michelle was telling me I was too stupid to understand and she took a dollar out of the register threw it at me and made a comment that I should go back on drugs I don't even know this woman Michelle my fiance does and she has enough nerve to make a comment towards me when she does not know me or know anything about me I do not have anything to do with drugs whatsoever. I shop at this Foodtown at least 5 times a week and because of Michelle I will have a hard time doing my shopping there because she made a nasty rude comment because she assumed something that was not true and had to yell It out loud in front of other customers making me look like something I am not. I didn't know that Foodtown customer service employees are allowed to talk to customers like that. I was told by 2 other Foodtown employees that work with her that she is always a nasty person I don't think that makes a good impression for new customers like myself who just started shopping there a year ago.

We enjoyed our visit to SF in Port Monmouth on 36S. Usually, we shop at the SF in Atlantic Highlands on 36S, about 4 miles away. With both, we find, as with most chains, some items are high-priced with no good reason (small container of potato salad approaching $6...why??), average priced items, and items that appear to be very reasonable priced. Both locations have a very good and fairly deep selection of groceries. The steam tables offer wide selections of prepared foods, as does the deli counter. You won't go hungry here, but don't shop when you are hungry! Neither store is as large and as well appointed as Shop Rite, but it's a longer trip in the area to get to a Shop Rite. Floral selections and greeting cards are very good and reasonably priced at both locations.Parking in both lots is sort of helter skelter, with generally small lots. We prefer to park on the outskirts to avoid the wayward cross traffic in the lots. All in all, we'd give the edge to the Port Monmouth location...it's larger, cleaner, and in a better state of maintenance than the Atlantic Highlands store. (In spots, the floor tiles in AH are held together with duct tape! Both stores have friendly efficient staff, and get you in and out quickly. Both offer a senior and a veteran discount on different days during the week. The interesting and impressive open wood beam ceiling in part of both stores is expansive and welcoming...the edge going to Port Monmouth. Can't go wrong in either location...if you don't wish to drive another 5-6 miles to a Shop Rite.

This store is outrageous! Half of the sale items were NOT in stock, and they weren’t able to process people’s loyalty cards while we were there! They said if we wanted the sale prices (which expired the next day), we’d have to come back later in the week with our receipt! What a nightmare! This location is also dark and decrepit! We’ll be taking our business elsewhere!!!

I bought 2x Southern Comfort Egg Nog and they were both gritty. The fats and proteins bonded because this product was frozen at some point when it shouldn't have been. I bought a half gallon of fat free milk that was bad. It wasn't sour, it just smelled like mold or an old wet basement. The last product from that visit was a container of Dunkin Donuts Extra Extra Creamer. It too was bad. It was souring and shouldn't have expired until January. Just stay away from the dairy aisle. Whomever is in charge of that department is a little off point. Just get your milk at the gas station or pharmacy.
