We went to look for a kitten...my children's first pet...wasn't expecting to fall in love but boy oh BOY! Mist came into our lives and we can't be more thankful to The Plainfield Humane Society for such a special addition to our family. The people there REALLY love their work...aside from the smell (to be expected at an animal shelter) it was a pleasure being there to see the animals...would recommend.

We have adopted two outstanding adult cats from this shelter over the past 20 years. Shelter workers and volunteers are very dedicated to the welfare of all the animals. The shelter does a good job of temperament testing.

We brought in a stray cat from the area who was looking ill. Patti couldn’t be more helpful, she is wonderful. They take very good care of these animals and if you can adopt and/or donate , I highly recommend this shelter.

We just adopted the sweetest boy from Plainfield Area Humane Society. I don’t have enough nice things to say about this place. Everyone is so friendly and truly cares for the animals. Thank you for introducing us to Reece, he has found his forever home! ❤️

Very clean, people were very nice, they have wonderful pets that need homes, I wish I was able to keep the cat that I picked up from there, I fell in love with him, he grew on us fast, someone who shares the house with us was allergic to cats, I really hated to see him go back

I just adopted a one year old calico cat 6/6/23. Everyone at the shelter was extremely helpful and friendly. I am now enjoying becoming acquainted with Molly.

I went to adopt a kitty that got along with my older cat. I know that process will take time but the shelter staff was so patient with me in helping me select the best cat because frankly I wanted them all. I easily spent 3 hours there between 2 days meeting with people & cats. Staff was awesome, especially Elijah who helped me make a final decision.

I adopted the most beautiful, loving, cuddly, and well tempered kitten from here. It was such an easy process, but they explained everything perfectly for us to understand. This was our first time adopting from here and I could not be happier with the amazing professionalism and knowledge that they shared with our family. Our kitten is now no longer a kitten, but he’s still the sweetest cat that I’ve ever owned. Thank you so much for allowing us to give Koda his FOREVER HOME! If you can adopt a pet, you definitely should from this Humane Society. They payed for all the shots and to get our beautiful boy fixed. Great experience!!!!!

Not the experience I thought it would be. I thought I was going to be shell shocked & crying. I did cry a little, because I wanted to take all the animals home with me. The volunteers are absolutely amazing & kind hearted people. They do so much for the animals & make sure they are actually cared for. They are also thorough in making sure the animals are placed with people, who are equally kind & caring. They do A LOT. I would highly recommend adopting an animal with them. Many of these animals have been abandoned & some have been hurt by horrible people. That doesn't mean they aren't sweet little hearts who need to be loved in their furever homes 😊Highly recommend visiting & hopefully adopting with them ❤️

I could give 0 starsThey were not profesional at all, we adopted our first cat Eightball. He was a gentleman, he was the best cat ever (God bless my handsome Eightball) anyway when we adopted him they gave us the papers that he was good, he didn’t have FIV, the paper they gave us it was negative. So we decided to adopt another cat, (Toraline) she was a kitten 6months old. When Eightball died they said it was because of a disease. I went to adopt another cat because I love cats so they told me that I had to make Toraline an FIV exam since Eightball was infected with that, I told her that Eightball was negative but they showed me that in the system they had it positive. SO HE HAD POSITIVE AND THEY GAVE A KITTEN WITHOUT ANY PREVENTION wth???? That’s not professional at all. I’m sorry but that’s dumb because first why you didn’t tell us the truth that Eightball had FIV, second why give us a kitten if she was able to get infected!People at this place is rude, they don’t take care good care of animals. Also a friend called this center because she wasn’t able to take care of her cat anymore and they didn’t help her at all. They are supposed to help animals. What about if she leaves her cat in the street just because they are not kind to help out. I don’t see that as good thing! Anyway I just wanted to share my thoughts!

We didn’t end up adopting. Just didn’t find the right dog for us. Not yet anyway. Everyone was pleasant and helpful and it was nice that they took the dogs out if you want to spend a little with them. The kennels and crates were clean and it seemed like a business but caring place.

Lavish it's not. But the staff and volunteers are great. And you can't be there for more than 10 minutes without someone dropping off a donation, which speaks very highly of the place and its people. They obviously care a great deal for the animals and work hard to take care of them until until they're adopted.

I donate Cat and Dog Food, Treats, Toys, Cat Litter and Cleaning Supplies to this GREAT Animal Shelter every month. The staff there is great! They really love and care for all the animals that are rescued and come to the shelter. The staff always asks me if I need help bringing the stuff in and always shows appreciation for my support. I am so Grateful to Jesus and the Father for providing me the means to donate, support and help the animals in need. I am also thankful to GOD that he has placed these wonderful people at the Plainfield Area Humane Society to love and care for these animals on a daily basis. You know.... that putting your humanistic attitudes behind you and just giving your donation support and love to these animals... shines the best in you and all you can accomplish for the greater good of the animals and yourself. Your honorable, noble and pure actions of love to these and all animals will be blessed and you will have a better life.

Staff are mostly volunteers, some people are happier than others, but why do you go to a shelter to see the people or find your new fur baby? have been at this shelter many times the staff is always friendly. they need your help - in donations, pet food, towels, volunteers and the like

My best friend adopted a kitten from this shelter. Less than two weeks later from her bringing the kitten home she had worms and ring worm which spread to my friend, her son, their neighbor and her friend’s dog. Hundred of dollars later from her personal vet, the shelter took zero responsibility for the kitten and her health. Her personal vet put the kitten on special medicine and was in fear of kitten’s liver shutting down and her dieing. If I could give negative stars I absolutely would. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy unless you want to fall in love with your pet and find out she has serious health aliments in which you have to pay for a week after adopting her.

My experience happened years ago but I still get annoyed whenever I remember how awful I was treated when I'd brought in an elderly dog one day. I'd just opened my front door when I spotted him running down the sidewalk in the pouring rain. I called to him and to my amazement he happily ran to me and into my home. I towel dried him and snuggled with him but knew he wasn't mine to keep. He had a collar but no tags. Assuming he was someone's pet, I took him to the shelter praying he'd be quickly reunited with his family. At the shelter I explained to the woman working there how I came to find him. Instead of graditude she stared at me with unveiled contempt! It was obvious that she didn't believe a word I said and thought I was abandoning my own dog. I was so hurt by this experience. I'd had my pre-teen daughter with me who was witness to this whole exchange. It was a disturbing end to what I'd hoped would be a wonderful life lesson for my child.

Amazing staff. They really care about the animals there. I am grateful for my dearly departed dog Sally I got thru them and very excited to be able to get my new dog stella in a few days. So many great dogs there now it was hard to choose so we let stella choose us. Go there if you want a well cared for animal.

I went here on a day cats & dogs were being advertised for free or $10 but the lines were crazy long and by the time I actually got into.the facility the smells were so strong I just had to leave and it wasn't worth it. I get it it's an animal facility but those smells were nauseating, gross, and completely overpowering. I wouid go back but on a non busy day and I was going to look into volunteering but if still smells God awful & like decaying death. I won't be able to.

Bill was very good at explaining how the process works when you adopt a dog. The girl that greeted us was very polite and helpful. Good experience on a hot 🔥 day!

The dedicated staff treats the animals in their care well. They spend their money on the needs of the animals instead of decorating their building. The shelter can always use old towels, sheets, and blankets...please keep it in mind before throwing them away. Ordering food or treats on Amazon and having it sent to Plainfield Area Humane Society is a quick and easy way to help them care for their animals.

I used to volunteer at Plainfield Humane and I can assure you they are awesome. The place may be a little older and in need of some renovations (paint and such) but it is clean and the animals are very well cared for. Usually the ones who bash someplace such as this have no experience. I know firsthand how hard it is to clean cages and and spend time walking, playing, petting...the day is over before it begun. Every day every cage gets cleaned...even the ferral cats. They have ample property with a walking path. They operate on a very tight budget and when people bash them it leaves the same budget even tighter. The people there are amazing with animals.

I hate to give them this review but they were so unorganized- I went during an adoption event where all animals were free or $10. I arrived at 930am when the event started at 11 expecting there to be some type of line. While waiting volunteers came in and out of the door I was waiting asking me what I was looking for and mentioning that I might be able to get in early since I was there. I was luckily the first one there to wait. about 11 there were now over hundred people standing around the parking lot. mind you- I was on the front porch waiting where first In line would be. but they decided to announce in the middle of the crowd that dog lines start on back. so everyone rushed to the back leaving me who was in the front of the building now in the back of the line. - that was the first of 3 lines. it's not 3.5 hours later and I've only waited in lines have been recalled over and over. I hope all dogs were adopted because I didnt even get to see one. things they should have done to not be completely incompetent pieces of trash- have a sign in sheet. RSVP since you had over 3000 likes on an Instagram post when you average 200 or less (honestly from this one piece of information you should have planned much better than you did but again-youre failure.) you should have had police there for crowd control- There was literally an accident out front because of the amount of excess traffic. DO NOT COME HERE IF THEY ARE HAVING AN EVENT YOU WILL REGRET IT. now if they would like to contact me through Instagram @alextourcorsetry I might revise this review but this review is very very very deserved.

This place sucks . They don't care to help a pet in need . The outside could use some fixing up and around the back . It does not look safe for the animals. I spoke with one nice volunteer but the other ones are rude . I'd never adopt from this hole.

Great customer service. They take time to know each animal individually! Got my cat for my daughter and I fell in love with our sassy cat! Never thought I would love a cat this much!
