Highly recommend Pete's Fish Market. I'd been looking for a great, old school fish market and found it at last. I met the owner, Pete, and he couldn't have been nicer. The store was clean and not fishy smelling. I purchased flounder and it was fresh and delicious. Pete suggested his homemade Clam Soup and it was superb! Reasonable pricing also. If you are seafood lovers, definitely give Pete's Fish Market a try. You won't be disappointed.

Loved the options of fresh fish. We tried sushi grade tuna, shrimp, live crabs and Bronzini. Everything was fresh. The place was clean and staff were helpful. The owner was friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place to all seafood lovers..

I recently decided that I’d stop buying meat and fish at the grocery store - Pete’s is now my absolute go-to spot for fish. I’m in here every weekend and I genuinely enjoy stopping in.I’m honestly disappointed that I didn’t go this route sooner. The fish is so much better and the quality truly blows away anything you’d normally buy at a grocery store (yes, that includes Whole Foods). Pete’s salmon is phenomenal - try it once and you’ll be hooked. They make some really amazing soups too - must try!!!

Visited for the first time reading good reviews, and I was happy to do good shopping here. I’ve got a pound of mussels, shrimps, and 4 oz of Tuna (Maguro), good for eating raw. I’ve sliced it up as Sashimi, using my Japanese steel blade. Yummy.

I’ve been going to Petes Fish Market for most of my life. My mother went before me. They have the best fish in the area. I’ve never had a problem with anything I have bought from Petes. We do our seven fish for Christmas Eve and that’s where we get our fish would never change, he does everything to my satisfaction the way that I want it done. I’ve never had any problems. This is a wonderful place to go if you’re looking for fish. Thank you Pete for all the years of service

This is a great old school little place. The salads they sell are always fresh and real good. Seafood, tuna, and potato. Great Cole slaw as well. It's not too sweet. Friendly staff as well.

Wanted to make miso black cod for xmas eve and asked around for fish markets to purchase…friend recommended Pete’s in plainfield. Called Pete’s to order, he told me black cod difficult to get and while he would try he recommended alternatives that he could obtain. Luck was on my side and Pete was able to secure the black cod… my family and guests of 13 all raved about the fish, freshness and taste.Pete was great and flexible, just placed my new years eve order. His store is very clean with no overwhelming fish smell. …highly recommend frequenting and calling for any of ur seafood needs.

Pete's Fish Market consistently has the freshest fish at the best prices that I've gotten at any fish market across many neighboring towns. I live in Westfield and after having a hard time consistently finding really fresh tuna and grouper I found Pete's a few years ago. Given how fresh the fish looked I was very pleasantly surprised about the prices. I've tried fish stores in many of the neighboring towns and had asked a number of friends about where they went but Pete's is (far and away) the best. It's definitely not fancy but has become my go-to store. In addition to tuna and grouper, I've bought halibut, bass and red snapper and it's all been great. Always super fresh, always at great prices. And if you call a day ahead they can pretty much get whatever you want for the harder-to-find fish.

Best live blue claw crabs without the hassle of a trek to Maryland. Giant crabs alive and kicking survived just fine in a plastic bag with some ice provided for my commute drive home. The owner operator moved the customer crowd along swiftly and politely. I wish I knew of this place sooner. You have a new customer. Thank you.

Such a hidden gem! My family and I have been coming here for over 15 years. They have a great selection of seafood and even sell the fish fry for customers to use at home. If you don’t feel like cooking at home they will prepare your choice of seafood for you steamed or fried. My ultimate favorite is their steamed crabs. Their signature seasoning isn’t just a blend of old bay and isn’t spicy which in my opinion makes it so much better from the others. The prices are reasonable and the staff is always pleasant whenever I come in. Their longevity speaks for itself as the quality and service has always been excellent and continues to be.

Very reasonable and he is so nice and most of all his seafood is so fresh. I spent about $300 on live Maryland crabs, snow crab legs, shrimp, lobster tails he has 4oz and 8oz also crawfish. I got the Baltimore style seasoning it’s the best! I won’t go anywhere else!

One of the best fish markets in the area. Spoke with the owner Pete about a fish fry and he seemes to know his stuff. He was very imformative and his fish is very fresh. Remember to support local businesses in your community to keep it financially strong. Also remember you can't see, touch, buy or smell fresh fish from Amazon..

This place is AWESOME! Myron is a complete Sweetheart! The Wild Caught fish here is really—wild-caught! It makes me wonder, what have we been consuming under the guise of “wild caught.” My daughter noticed the difference right away! From the fresh vibrant colors of fish from the ocean, the smell, to how it cooks! No Falling Apart—And No Embarrassing Fishy odor from an alleged lack of enzymes to process fish. Great fish market! Everything is very fresh. They are very helpful. Much better quality than the supermarkets and prices are better too. It's full service - they will clean the fish/shellfish. I've bought the day boat scallops, shrimp, softshell crabs, flounder, and clams. All have been fresh and delicious.Do yourself a favor and skip the supermarket and come here.

I should have taken heed to the reviews. I went here for the first time. This place smells terrible. The man could hardly keep up with what was going on. I ordered a whiting fish sandwich anyway. The order took an appropriate amount of time and came with a generous amount. However, the taste was horrible! I tried to drown it in hot sauce and that was not enough. The hunt continues.

Best fresh fish market in NJ by far. If what you're looking for is sold out Pete will take your name and number and have it for you in a few days. You can also have your fish cooked with their homemade seasoning. Decent price for the freshest fish plus excellent customer service earns my 5 stars easily 👌🏾
