This year, I wanted to chop down my own Christmas tree instead of buying one from the local Home Depot that'll die within a week. After doing some research, I found Dower Tree Farm. They were the most reasonably priced in the surrounding area, and they were also one of the only ones to actually pick up their phone.We went the the first weekend of December, which was also the second week they were open (first weekend was the one right after Thanksgiving). It was raining the night before we went, and a little drizzly the day of - so it was pretty muddy. But we didn't want to wait another week in case all of the good ones were gone. There were quite a few trees taken already, but still a lot to choose from. I believe the two options for trees were Canaan Fir and Spruce. I forgot which is which but one of them has sturdier needles, which is good for ornaments, which is the one that we got. The pricing is $10/foot, so we managed to get a 3.5 foot tree for $30. Pretty good deal in my opinion. All you have to do is grab a saw that they provide, look for the tree you want, chop it down yourself, bring it to the "checkout" area, where they measure and charge you. You do have to tie it to your car yourself, and there is no netting but they do provide string.Today is December 27. While that nice Christmas tree smell has been long gone, I am still happy to say that the needles look pretty good, and the tree still looks pretty green overall. I think I'll opt for a bigger one next year!Tip - cash only

Just cut down our Christmas tree yesterday. It is very much DIY at this place. They provide the saw and the twine...but you cut it, get it onto your car and tie it down! It was definitely more fun for the kids to walk around and pick one out vs. the alternative to pick a pre-cut one at another farm. And, while more work for me than in previous years, it was worth it.

We get our trees here every year. $10 a foot, cash/check only. It’s a beautiful property and there is always a wonderful variety of trees. Staff is always friendly, and our trees always look wonderful well through the holidays. This is our 6th year as customers, and I couldn’t imagine going back to buying a tree in a parking lot ever again.

Beautiful property and very good selection of trees to choose from. Friendly staff and trees only $10 a foot. All the trees were so beautiful that it was hard to make a decision. They provide saws and sting but they do not bale it for you. Would definitely come back again

Great tree selection, helpful staff, provide the hand saws and string, and free coffee and hot chocolate. Only cash and charge ten dollars by the foot no matter what kind of tree. Wonder place!

I showed up just after closing hours on the night before Christmas Eve, managed to get the family on the phone, who went out of their way to change their holiday plans for the night just to let me and my family in to get our Christmas tree. Their genuine concern for our happiness and their determination to make sure we had a tree for Christmas was truly one of the happiest Christmas moments I’ve ever experienced. I cannot thank the family enough.
