I called in this morning May 8th , for information about my puppy who’s 9 weeks old, I asked if I can come in today to get my dog first round of shots, the lady in the phone wasn’t sure what I was referring too and asked if I know the name of the vaccine. I told her my dog is a puppy it’s just the first shot and she replied with well if you don’t know the name of the shot I can’t help you. Plus we’re booked until June . Very unprofessional and seemed like she had an attitude issue. I would fire your staff and find someone who’s willing to work and not take your job for granted.

When I contacted Dog Cat & Bird clinic to arrange a second opinion appointment regarding my pet's ultrasound results, the person I spoke with came off as impolite and unprofessional. She quickly jumped to conclusions about the medical situation before I had a chance to fully explain my concerns. Additionally, she inaccurately labeled the situation as an emergency when it was not necessary. For context, my dog has slight crystallization in the bladder, and we were seeking advice on next steps, dietary adjustments, monitoring, and so forth. It's troubling that someone answering the phone would offer medical opinions without first reviewing relevant medical information.One star.

This clinic has gone down hill!I used to come in with my dog to see either Dr. Hilliard or Dr. Stancel, who are both GREAT vets. Unfortunately, I went in with my fiancé today to see Dr. Barbaris, and it was an absolute HORRIBLE experience. She gave no advise to the questions that we asked and the concerns we shared. We were told to "just keep doing what you're doing" whenever we brought up a concern about our dog. It seemed like she was more focused on completing his routine shots and getting out of there. Once everything was complete and we went back up front, we were hit with a $500 bill.I don't care at all about the amount of money needed to care for my pet. What I do care about is coming in with questions, not getting ANY of them answered, and leaving more confused than when we walked in while also receiving a large bill. I am so incredibly disappointed, as I've been coming here for years with pets that I've had way before my current dog, and to be pushed away by someone who is supposed to help and give advise is very disheartening.

The people in this office are nice, however the vet killed my bird. Don’t go here for your pet birds. I had a small budgie, who just was sleeping a lot and less lively, so I brought him here. Turns out he had a lung infection so the doctor gave him 2 injections, 1 the first week, 1 the following week, and everyday medicine for 2 weeks in his mouth. I followed the directions exactly how he explained. My budgie loss complete mobility after all those injections and so much weight, his balance was horrible, he couldn’t fly properly anymore, the poor animal was waiting to die. He just passed away today, if you have a bird who’s kinda sick just go to a designated AVIAN VET. Also spent almost 300$ trying to make him better. RIP Tweeti

AMAZING!!!! My dog Valentina was treated with love and kindness. Dr Barbaris could sense Valentina was nervous and was so gentle with her. The two ladies at the front desk were quick and efficient checking us in and out. Catherine the receptionist even asked to meet my girl. This is the place to go for routine vet care. I know bc I work for an emergency vet. I can tell what to look for. If you’re seeking vet care this vet clinic is it. I could go anywhere and I chose them.

Wow, brought my moluccan cockatoo Miki to Dr. Crupi 28 years ago to have his loose band removed. He is the best avian vet! I'm living on Florida since 2005 otherwise I would still be going to Dr. CRUPI!

I have used the service's of the Nutley DC&B Clinic since 2007 for my Devon Rex cats. They have been compassionate professionals with prior senior cats and great with my new kitten. They return phone calls and follow up. This is a trustworthy place for your loved ones.

Dog, Cat & Bird Clinic is new to my 2 older dogs! I really appreciate them taking them on. They have been seen separately by two different Drs. The gal who answers the phone Lindsay is very polite and accurate with handling most important information and also has a nice smile!All the front staff are very kind and considerate & the wait is not too long but I see they like to treat each pet differently and with care. Young Dr Krupi, Dr Nicole she is called handled my Bear Bear ( pit - basset mix) and I’m grestful to her decision making. Dr. Berniece, ( sorry if misspelled) took on Oliver our black mouth cur. Also very detail oriented and kind. Thank you all and I felt this is there home as far as drs are concerned, even they were pretty comfortable. Have been going for over 10 years. Last year both of my puppies had seperate rare and very serious sicknesses. Dr. Crupi and all of dog, cat, and bird clinic went above and beyond to help us and treated the dogs with exceptional care and compassion... Thankfully, both puppies are thriving.

Brought our new parrotlet to Dr Stancel for a check up. As new bird owners we had a lot of questions, and never once felt rushed or got the impression that Dr Stancel wasn't fully engaged in our conversation. He gave me a lot of great advice, and my bird loved him - he stayed on his hand for our whole conversation! We can't wait to bring our dog in for his checkup! Everything at the front desk was easy, the staff kind, and the waiting room was large and clean.

Amazing vet, and amazing service all around! They were great with scheduling, and even though they hadn’t met my girls yet, I could tell they cared already. Dr. Stancel was very knowledgeable, and honest. He listened to our concerns, and talked everything through with us. He cared about my rats, and has experience with them which is so great when looking for an exotic vet. I am looking forward to continuing to work with them for my pets care. So many great things to be said about this practice!Since writing this my ratty girl passed away. They were very kind and understanding and even sent a card. Not everyone considers how important the little ones can be to their owners so it meant a lot.They have also seen both my dogs since. They’re so great with them as well! My rescue is reactive and they worked with us to make sure he wasn’t triggered while there. A week later we brought our puppy and they remembered stuff we said about her brother and it helped make her appointment go even more smoothly. They don’t push you to get vaccines or procedures you don’t need, and they make sure you understand why your pet is receiving what care. They really make me feel in control of my pets care. Scheduling is so easy, and everyone there is kind so it’s always pleasant to call or go in. I am very happy with this practice and really can’t say enough good things!

Dr. Stancel spayed Bune, a bunny that I adopted from someone with a big heart who wanted a better home for her. She’s doing well and I have a check up in two weeks! ❤️ The staff is wonderful

Love you guys! Everyone is always so nice! The front desk ladies are always so sweet and helpful, the doctors take their time to explain everything and make sure your pet is doing well. One thing I really love about this place is they won't make you pay extra money on not needed procedures or prescription diets unless your pup really needs it. I had a different vet before and they told me I must put my puppy on a prescription diet, I'm not allowed to make home made kibble toppers for her either & I must take her to a dermatologist. One of your doctors ( I wish I would remember her name) recommended I first try out different kibbles and eliminate chicken for now and see how that works. Well, it worked! My pup is on salmon & brown rice kibble now, the allergy symptoms have been decreasing by a lot and she is doing so much better! You guys saved me a lot of money on her food & unnecessary dermatology appointments. Thank you!!!

Dr Stancil is awesome. I have heard from people I have asked and they said he’s the best. Unfortunately, I can say the same the front desk staff. I called on Nov 14 with an emergency wanting for Dr Stancil advice. I’m not sure who answered the call but after explaining my situation and the woman explained to call at 8 am to see if anyone had canceled. I also requested an appointment just in case I wasn’t successful. When the date for my appointment arrived and I showed up. It turns out that the woman never locked in my appointment. Good thing that the young lady who I don’t know her name. Squeeze me in for an afternoon appointment. So thank you 😊 to the young lady. I’m not happy with front desk customer service. You walk in and NO ONE acknowledges you or greet you. Everyone has their head buried in their computer’s. You sit there waiting for 30 minutes after your appointment time. I’m not sure what’s the reason but if I make an appointment for a certain time. It should be courtesy to respect your time or explain why you are waiting for more than 30 minutes. I sat there watching people walking in and standing or waiting for staff greet. It’s ridiculous because they tell you on the phone, if you are 10 minutes late you will be charge! Meanwhile, you walk in 10 minutes early and NO One greets you. So you sit or stand until someone acknowledge you exist! Poor customer service skills and practice. If I had other Avian Veterinarian option’s near me. I would not return to this clinic.This was my second visit to the clinic. On my first visit my initial appointment was changed from one date to a later date for clinic reason.

I called this office yesterday to confirm whether or not they may accept an emergency visit for my lovebird. The woman who answered the phone was very insensitive and when i told her it was an emergency, she replied by saying emergency situations should be called in by 8 AM. Ma’am, if my bird was dying, how could I plan such a thing to happen by 8AM?Anyways, I understand some offices are very booked and cannot squeeze in extra patients, but she could have definitely handled this conversation in a better manner. Pet parents may call in very distressed and most will definitely not appreciate being spoken to with this tone. I am sure the doctors provide wonderful services but this still needs to be addressed.

Excellent staff, excellent bedside manner, excellent diagnostic abilities. Dr. Stancil goes above and beyond for his patients. I have had emergencies after hours where I had to go to an emergency clinic. Every single time, he called to follow up on the status of his patient even though his patient wasn’t seen at his location due to the timing of it being after hours. He truly cares for his patients. I didn’t even have to ask for him to review records, he called the emergency group to personally request a copy of the records to ensure his patient was receiving proper and appropriate care. Too many positives to note. And, I’m not someone who posts reviews - but after seeing how some other clinics run their practice… I had to rave about the dog cat and bird clinics excellence.

I half love this vet spot for two reasons.The pros:As a bird owner there's not a lot of places to go. It's either here or pompton lakes. But nutley has great prices and the exotic doctors are really great. They care, explain and dont over Medicate. So Nutley probably sees a majority of bird owners.Prices are fairly. For small birds without insurance a check up is about 90 per bird. If they need medicine,For me it's been about 40 per visit. Overall, wonderful service.The cons.My only huge complaint is a front desk nurse. For privacy, well call her Miss Red. I've visited about 4 times now. The second visit, I had to assist a hispanic woman who didn't speak english (I speak spanish) she had asked Miss Red to speak more slowly, and Miss Red gave her an exhausted expression. Her tone changes when she speaks to spanish speakers. (Which btw hispanic people LOVE our birds. Turning us away is turning away a huge cash chicken. ) Today was my most recent visit. Miss Red answered the phone and in that flat, dismissive tone we hispanic people know too well, told someone "no, we don't have anyone who speaks spanish) Yes, you do. Maybe not on that day or time but Nutley has a spanish speaking nurse. If a spanish speaking person is calling an English business they're already putting in the effort to try. why cant Miss Red? I really suggest talking to amiss Red about her tone to foreign clients. While everyone is so lively she makes herself appear sour. Especially over the phone. I've gotten remarks from her such as "I don't know what to tell you" I really hate writing bad reviews. But there's two major problems here.1. Hispanic people love birds and are willing to spend the money and the awkward language barrier for our pets. We are people too, and my fellow spanish speaking bird owner deserves just as much kindness I receive when she needs care for her cocktiel.2. Most of the bad reviews on Nutley are from bird owners. None of them are on the actual care of the birds but the scheduling of care, which happens at front desk.I dont want to be a Karen or crazy bird lady. I want this to be a teaching moment for Miss Red. It just drives me insane hearing how she speaks to people on the phone or even worse ABOUT people when she hangs up. Nothing against her, just her integrity towards those who are different.

Even though I moved to another town, I continue to go to this practice as I have found them to be the kindest and smartest in veterinary medicine. They listen to the owners, gather information and collaborate with you on the best plan of action for the pet and owner. They helped me manage my pet’s waning health and gave me and my pet the most dignified approach to her end-of-life care. I look at them not just as veterinarians, but compassionate caregivers of our beloved furry friends.

The doctors are amazing, the staff isn’t so much. I scheduled two of my dogs and they called me 3 times changing my apts because they missed something. Sat in my car for 40 mins with my high anxiety dog crying in the car. I arrived 10 mins early, let the front know I was a few mins early for my 11. 40 mins later I call like what’s going on and they say they are behind yet again and my apt was for 11:20. Why when I checked in and said here for 11 didn’t they correct me and I could have gone home. They refused to let me go home down the street and call me when they were ready. Every time I go here I’m waiting more than a half and hr or more. Never going back which is sad because I do love the two doctors. My poor dog needed to see the doctor and now I’m stuck looking for a new place last min. Took time from work off and front desk just said there’s nothing I can do and told me to stop yelling which was a joke because I was standing right outside the vet door and clearly wasn’t yelling.

Not all veterinary clinics are alike. We have all been in some where you feel like you are a customer and that your pet is a product and it is purely a business. And then we have been in those clinics where you can just tell that everyone there cares about the animals and cares about making you feel better about your sick pet.Dog Cat and Bird Clinic of Nutley is of the latter. Over the years I've encountered each of the doctors there and none of them were less than spectacular, the facility is always clean, efficient, kind and caring.Nothing but the highest recommendations for this location, give them a try

I’ve brought both my dogs here since day one. I have nothing bad to say about this office!!! The office always smells good and looks so clean!I feel like every time I call I get Nancy on the phone and she is so kind, reassuring, and accommodating. This vet service is compassionate, attentive to you AND your pet. I have had 17 dogs in my lifetime and wished I brought them all here, if I had known of them sooner. My neighbor recommended them 2 years ago. They were excellent when I.had to put one of my dogs down. And lately I've taken my 12 year old bichon there and they treated him and gave me meds to keep him comfortable!They are better than my own doctors! I was referred here by a friend and I’m so happy that she did. The facility was clean, warm and welcoming. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and heartfelt. Most importantly, they made my pets best interest their top priority. Overall, I was extremely pleased with my visit and happy tails all around!
