This place is crazy busy during Easter but the wait is worth it. The chocolates are amazing, the atmosphere is amazing, and the employees are kind. This store is a throwback to a different time. It’s the type of place that has a classic charm that almost doesn’t exist anymore. The only issue they have is not enough space and not enough checkouts. I added a pic to show you just how packed it gets during Easter

Exactly what I was expecting from a American candy shop. Hand dipped stuff in chocolate. Clean and looks magical.Had a wide assortment of dipped candy, brittle, and potato chips. There's a lot of stuffed animals and snow globe like trinkets as well.Wanted a mix of marzipan and others, but marzipan was only by itself. But bought an assortment to try anyway.Boxed candy was gift wrapped for free for the holiday.Service was a little unclear when checking out. I guess it's busy in the back because there wasn't a clear checkout line, more of a jumble of people who were being helped by people in the back. There's a ticket counter at the front door but there's no display of what numbers being helped, and it should be right before checkout, not right when you enter the store. So it's probably just a novelty.

This historic place is a candy lover's paradise. We visit once a year and it still amazes me how much chocolate is in one place! On exceptionally busy times, be sure to take a number from the machine as soon as you walk in! Don't forget to bring your own bag if you have one handy! They have some reusable ones, but NJ is no longer giving plastic bags out.

I am here in Mechantville, New Jersey, this weekend for a bridal shower that my son-law to be parents is having for him and my daughter. He brought us to Aunt Charlotte's candies today. It's an awesome place to come to. Reminds me of chocolate & candy stores back home in the Chicagoland area.The selections of chocolate and candy are great. This is a must go if you're in the area. If you don't walk away with buying something, then you don't like chocolate. LOL

First time coming here. My friend who's local showed me this place and it definitely impressed. You feel like you're going back through time to an old style candy store. Grab a ticket when you walk in and use it to place an order behind the class counter. So many good candies to pick from but they also have decorative plates and other non food items. They have free samples at the front to really sell you on the chocolate you need to buy.

Aunt Charlotte's is my favorite place to shop for chocolates and candies. Their products are always delicious and fresh. The staff is professional, knowledgeable and happy to help.There is something new to see and taste every time I visit.They are very busy around the holidays especially, Christmas and Easter, so be sure to shop early and be prepared to wait for help selecting your perfect gift. They have the best stocking stuffers and their Easter chocolates are beautiful.Aunt Charlotte's never disappoints. They have the best selection of chocolates, candies and gifts for everyone.

The woman asked me if I need my chocolates gift wrapped. I really did, and they came out looking great. Thanks!Add on review: I do not recommend going in here around Christmas time. I went in on December 18th around 11am for Christmas presents. Store was packed to where you couldn’t walk. 2 registers open. Very long lines at both registers. Everyone in line was leaning against the merchandise display tables, shoulder to shoulder. The merchandise was blocked from my view. Lots of people working in the back but only 2 at the registers (couldn’t someone be out at the registers helping to bag or gift wrap?). After 2 minutes, I thought, “what are the chances of me being able to walk around this store with every aisle blocked, actually see the products behind the customers in line who are leaning against the displays, get through the line in less than an hour and have all my purchases gift wrapped by one of the two cashiers while an enormous crowd waits behind me?”. I decided it would be an exercise in futility and I walked out. The current operations are not working and it’s not my problem to figure out. It’s theirs. And they obviously haven’t done so. Maybe a 3rd register? More employees behind the counter? I’ll never go in there again during the holidays. The rest of the year it’s fine.

I LOVE Aunt Charlotte's! I've been getting candy and chocolates from there for over 30 years! In 1997 I worked at Sydney's Hair & Nail Salon on Centre Street across from the News Nook/Cigar Alley and the old man who owns Aunt Charlotte's would stop in every single store, shop, business and church in downtown Merchantville and he'd give every single person who worked in the town, a hand delivered treat every Halloween, Christmas and Easter. The chocolates and candies are made on location in the factory located above the store. They have an antique scale right inside the front door that you stand on to weigh yourself. My family has marked it as "Tradition to weigh yourself" as soon as you walk in. They have super soft stuffed animals and a few toys too for the little ones. Every year, they raffle off a giant 20-pound chocolate bunny. I like the milk chocolate sponge, chocolate covered marshmallows, and many different flavors of truffles. But my favorite is their signature "Personalized Easter Eggs!" They will write your name (or your kids' names) IN CANDY on their eggs - for free - if you ask them to! Excellent for families with more than one child who celebrates Easter and/or gives their kids Easter baskets. Personalized Easter eggs when i was growing up was always something my siblings and I looked forward to every year. I think the chocolate is better than Hersheys chocolate!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to visit at least once in your lifetime!! You WON'T be disappointed.

Aunt Charlotte's has been in Merchantville for as long as I can remember. I recall going in as a kid with my Grandmom and begging to get candy! The store is still how I remember it, the smells, the colors and friendly people working there. The dark chocolate and the Irish Potatoes are the absolute best! If you're local, go to Aunt Charlotte's for your candy!

I was there and spend 67.00 I asked the sale girl for a PC of wrapping paper and she said I can't give u any.i been a customer there for 60 years iam 83 now. I will not be going back .miss the candy but don't need to be treated like that.

Time stands still in this establishment, in a good way. Glad to see a place I came to in the early 80's as a child is still around. Many a caramel or candied apple in October were bought. Other times of the year chocolate covered pretzels will satisfy that sweet and salty urge.

Love this 4 generation family run store!! Just entering the store gives you an amazing aroma of an old fashioned Candy Emporium! This store is filled with wonderful gifts and best of all Homemade Chocolates! There are also so many different kinds of Sweet treats, from pumpkin spiced malt balls and milk foiled Santa's to so many yummy treats! If looking for the perfect sweet gift, this is the place to get it. The Counter Clerks and all their employees are top notch, very friendly and helpful! Whenever passing through this town, I definitely stop and am never disappointed!

I was surprised at the vast selection of candies available in this store. It was quite busy when I arrived so be prepared to wind your way through the aisles and the other customers. If you want anything from behind the counter remember to take a number from the dispenser as soon as you enter the shop. If you're looking for something sweet this is the place to go.
