This place is OUTSTANDING. We happened upon this seafood market while traveling to participate in the NYC Five Boros Bike Tour! Intending to just “check it out”, we ended up enjoying the oyster platter, the calamari, and some outstanding red mullet! Every employee was very knowledgeable and we chatted with Mark (the owner) many times before we left. We purchased two of the most beautiful cuts of tuna I have ever seen, and because we are traveling back to Michigan not only did Mark offer the stores deep freeze for us, they packed our tuna up superbly for travel. Not only do we recommend but this is a must stop if you want incredibly fresh, incredibly friendly, and outstanding service!

We absolutely love this place!!!!!We drive from PA to Metropolitan Seafood at least a few times a month to get the best seafood. Totally worth the drive. We get many items prepped for us to freeze when we get home so that our visits are well worth the travel.Today we picked up 10 dozen oysters for “Our 5th Annual Oyster Fest”. They shucked them all for our convenience.Staff here are always pleasant and knowledgeable. Store is always kept up with pride and it’s wonderful to see the same employees at each visit. We have become familiar faces and it’s always nice to be greeted as if we are old time acquaintances.This place is a must try if you haven’t and if you have, you have probably recommended Metropolitan Seafood to others.

This review is for the Holiday Pre-Order experience only. Our family has been a long time fans of the place- always fresh and unique products, courteous team. The prices are on the high end, but we always felt it was totally worth it. Until I have placed an order for the NYE celebration- to say it was a disappointment is not to say anything. Traditionally, when we buy oysters from their store we are asked if we need it shacked and then placed on tray, on ice. Very nicely packed, suitable for transportation and presentable to the table straightaway. I was receiving the email notification that "they are still accepting NYE Holiday orders " - to my understanding, they had orders but within capacity. What was my surprise when I came to pick up my order in was given to me in a bag, not a tray. When I asked if the oysters were shacked, I was shown a bag of shells and a plastic container with all dozen oysters "jarred" together. We had 2 dozens of oysters, and 6 clams and all were packed the same manner. We were told that "this is how the Holiday order is done". If I was informed about it at the time I called - I would have shacked my oysters myself,buying it from another store for half the price. We were on our way to the party and clearly couldn't bring it that way. When we "assembled " in the way we were instructed- it was dry and flavorless. The cost of each oyster is equal to the cost at the restaurant, but this was not a restaurant experience. Very disappointing.

The quality and variety of fresh seafood and sushi grade fish is incredible. The service just puts this place over the top. Incredible! Just sad I didn't get to ask the fish mongers names that were helping us scale and portion our haul!Great oyster selection. Gorgeous softshell crabs.Fresh sardines and whole Japanese madai!I'm glad I took the 45 minute drive to load up for mothers day! Thank you guys so much!

You can get fresh fish, oysters, clams, shrimp and likely any seafood you are looking for. They are courteous and even package the seadfood in ice for you if you are traveling far. The help you get is beyond what any other seafood place does. I will make sure to always get my fish from here. Great/amazing employees with major knowledge in their profession.

This seafood market has everything you need for an amazing seafood meal and more. From a prepared hot lunch to clams Ala Metro, just heat and eat. Dips and sauces and marinades! Fresh produce, fresh fish, frozen fish and even salted fish, homemade salads too! Lots of pantry choices that are hard to find or unusual. Great gifts too. Fresh bread! What more could you want? Friendly service from all the fish mongers too!

Love this place !! Cute little market with fresh seafood, prepared items and things you may need to grab to complete your meal you might be making at home . We Have been coming here for a while ever since my SIL introduced us to it . so good 😊 The staff is awesome and they are always hustling in the place so be patient. Wanted to give a special shout to Collin and Esteban today for taking care of us ! They truly went above and beyond since they knew we had been waiting quite a while for our order which happened to get lost in the shuffle . Awesome staff ! I truly have such a great experience whenever we come here . Me and my husband love the food and this will always be our go to spot for seafood. We love the fried fisherman’s platter , clam chowder and I love those oysters on a half shell 😋. Today I tried the fried catfish on a ciabatta bread ( so good ) and i ordered the salmon poke bowl ( yummy) . Now word to wise if you want to order take out call ahead for your orders if you come around dinner time . Awesome job to all the

First time here, went to the brewery next door and they suggested this place for food..Looked at the menu and I called in the order so we can walk next door and pick it up.. Ordered the catfish sandwich and jerk tacos..they asked which soup did we want, we got the lobster bisque..the lobster meat was tough..(on the menu, it comes with a soup)......worse lobster bisque ive ever had, it seemed like tomato-based broth.....the food had no seasoning. The catfish sandwich was sloppily done, they gave 3 small pieces of over fried catfish on the sandwich.. I barely tasted the aoli...everything was just thrown together....The tacos were good, minus the jerk (it did not taste like jerk). Nice sized swordfish. Just no spice....And they the charged us an additional $2 for the soup..if i would have known the soup was optional or extra i would have passed on the soup....Overall the food was not good quality, i threw out majority of the sandwich. I would not recommend.

While on a business trip, I was passing by the area and searched for nearby restaurants. I came across the nearly flawless review this establishment has received and I wasn’t disappointed.Service was amazing: the owner, Mark personally greeted me and told me a little about the establishment. I was helped by one of his guys and recommended some items. The food, the vibe, the feeling of fitting in was something the owner attended to himself.I found a new favorite seafood market. I totally recommend this place.

Boy, do I love this place. Great selection of seafood. I have been looking for blue claw crabs for the past two years and couldn't find a decent #1, jumbo, Jimmy's or whatever they use to describe super large Male blue claw crabs. Guess where I found them? These were the people who could get them for me. Yes, they were pricey at $75 a dozen but look at my pictures. They were full and meaty.

While I was visiting my friend in Jersey , he took me out for lunch at Metropolitan Seafood Place and it was Phenomenal ! The customer service is out standing! Seafood was fresh from the ocean! And Chef told me his secret for octopus salad which was outstanding as well!Thank You all !We will be back !! 🐙🦀🐠

Awesome place. Passed by this on 22 so many times never thinking to stop in. Thought to do something different and try making our own sushi, and this store has so many different kinds of fish that you can eat raw. We picked up a beautiful piece of salmon and it was really fresh. Definitely not the cheapest place on the block by any means, but I guess that's what you pay for this quality of a product. They obviously care greatly about what they do and the staff are super nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. Sushi turned out so good that we'll be headed back again this weekend for more!

August 7, 2021 – We drive by Metropolitan Seafood all the time and finally decided to try this place. Wow, we have been missing out!We thoroughly enjoyed three entrées from the takeout menu. We placed our order over the phone, drove to Metropolitan, parked in the lot, and received a phone call when the order was ready for pickup. Total time from placing the order to pickup…20 minutes. We ordered:• Spiced Up Mexican "Torta" Catfish Sandwich (spicy corn meal crusted catfish with lettuce, tomato, onion, guacamole and pickled jalapeños with Chipotle Aioli on a fresh-baked toasted Ciabatta roll) with a choice of Soup• Fisherman’s Combo (fried or broiled shrimp, scallops, fillet, and crab cake served with coleslaw, french fries or saffron rice)• Fish and Chips (hand-battered fish served with crispy fries, coleslaw, malt vinegar, and tartar sauce)Everything was fantastic! The staff was very friendly. We will be back for sure.

Visited NJ and wanted to cook a seafood paella. I visited Metropolitan Seafood. it was a wonderful experience. everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. The quality of the fish was great, very fresh and a wide selection of types of fish and other sea food.If I lived here this would be my go-to fish store.UPDATE:After cooking the Paella, I have to say it was probably the best Paella I've made. I have to say that the fresh ingredients, especially the fresh sea food made the difference. I Posted 2 pictures, One with all the sea food in the paella and the other after it was finish.Thanks again to Metropolitan Seafood for making this dinner a huge suscess. BTW everyone went back for seconds. :)

Small well stocked with fresh fish. They are very inviting and helpful. They cleaned and prepared our snapper for us all we had to do was throw it on the grill. There is much to try and will be returning.

Some of the best seafood and service I’ve ever experienced anyway in the world. Mark and Michael, and the rest of the crew there will take great care of any seafood needs you might have. Incredible oysters, shellfish, and fish. Perfect for sushi, grilling, roasting. Anything you need.

Well, my daughter and I stopped in today and though we thought we were only buying scallops it turned into just a lovely experience. Michael and everyone else there knows fish. He was giving us tips on how to cook fish. Very informative and very nice, too.

They have everything you need when it comes to seafood. It's also very convenient that you can call an order in ahead of time so everything is ready the day you schedule for pick up. The staff is very friendly and helpful. If you aren't sure about something they'll answer any questions you have. They have the freshest and widest range of seafood I've seen in the area. You really can't go wrong here, I've been satisfied every time I've gotten seafood here so far.

Wow 🤩 this place is LEGIT! The owner mark comes out behind the counter to educate you, give recipes and tips to cook the fish! These guys are real fish mongers!!! We thought we got good service in the city but this is Heaven in the country. Artisanal olive Oils vinegars pastas and so much yummy stuff. Yay! 💙💙💙🐠🐠🐠

Very clean, fresh smelling, and the service was excellent. Great selection of fish, shellfish (fresh and frozen), and cheese. I purchased ahi tuna for sushi. I have previously made rolls with ahi from the local grocery store. Although this did cost more, it was absolutely worth the price. And making my own sushi was still half the price from buying it from the local sushi restaurant.

Michael, thank you for guiding us through a successful halibut dinner! Ashley and I came to Metropolitan with the vague dream of making “some type of fish and a vegetable side.” Michael coached us through a detailed yet elegantly simple recipe. In a skillet: 3 minutes on one side, 2 minutes on the other, handful of fresh herbs, white wine, and 9 minutes in the oven. Butter. It worked and hell yes it was bangin. Michael and Nick also threw in some herbs and explained two different, but equally valid chiffonade techniques. Side of roasted fingerling potatoes and asparagus. Going to keep this recipe up the sleeve to impress our next guests.
