I’m constantly at this location and I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting the dog trainer Jay until today. She’s very informative and helpful! I’ve never had any store associate offer any advice or make helpful suggestions until meeting Jay. I will be seeking her out for anymore advice or help! I hope to see her in a position of authority in the near future. She’s amazing. Thank you Jay!

Picked up a few treats and unnecessary items for my fur baby Bentley, he also had a much needed grooming with Cynthia, I couldn't believe she  recognized him immediately, cause this was his 2nd visit, that made me feel happy to know he was in good hands. We had a longer wait time to pick him up, but Cynthia did do a great job, even with a few matted areas.

I always have a good shopping experience here. Most of the time I'm greeted by the cashier that's working and if I need something such as crickets, the workers get them for me without a problem.

I brought my dog in for a bath, haircut and nail trim.The grooming center is open before the actual store in case you need to bring your pooch in before business hours, which is super convenient.The ladies in grooming were all very sweet and friendly.My dog came out looking super cute!

First time getting my dog groomed at Pet Smart in Kearny NJ & they cut him crazy ! Claiming he was so “ matted “ Keep in mind my dog is 1 yrs old & has had plenty of haircuts elsewhere in the same condition that I brought him there today ; and the other groomer has NEVER cut him like this ! I paid a de matting fee & and it looks as if they did absolutely nothing but cut him bald ! Previously I had scheduled several appointments to have him groomed at this same location & I always canceled because I’ve & heard of the horror stories from these pet stores when it comes to grooming dogs . #LessonLearned I will NEVER EVER again take my dog to PetSmart to be groomed . My dog has been acting sad & laying around since I picked him up . Which is very unlike him . The groomer’s name was Jennifer & she seemed very inexperienced . Once I told her where I usually take him & that they didn’t have any appointments & he needed his hair cut today . She kept suggesting that I take him elsewhere. My main thing is . They DONT know how to cut the dogs in style . I told her even if you cut his body low , keep his face round . His hair on his head was nowhere near matted . She was just being lazy & doing whatever SHE WANTED TO DO . NEVER AGAIN WITH THIS PLACE . This was my dog very 1st & last time being cut by any Pet Smart .

Live fairly close to this Petsmart and always have what you need. Nothing is ever out of stock and the shelves with toys,leashes, etc is always neat and clean. Alot of pet stores you walk into have dirty floors and petsmart in Kearny you never see a mess.

I’m so uncomfortable give this nasty review since I’ve been taking my Yorkie here for years and I love how Ashley do my baby, but yesterday 12/23 he had a grooming and whoever did him over did it and cut his hair, now I’ve been calling and nothing probably because it’s the holidays but I need responds. I got home from work and basically I noticed too late. Very upset about his deep cut on his legs. I will be calling Monday to get response .

I went in to shop for my dogs shampoo and I saw a trainer choking a pit bull and said she’s a “professional”. You can’t make a dog listen to you by choking it and then they wonder why people say pit bulls are dangerous. When you treat dogs with violence they do not listen, you have to treat them with respect and love. Disgusting. These people clearly don’t get any training.

Do not take your dog here. After a horrible experience at the Seacaucus location I took my golden retriever here. They butchered my dog’s hair cut and didn’t remember to trim his nails. They cut his hair so choppy and uneven and decided to shave the inside of leg down for no reason which gave him the WORST razor burn. Of course the manager isn’t there to speak with and has to “call me on Monday”. They would not release the name of the groomer who cut his hair so I could make sure never to take him to them. If you love your dog DO NOT TAKE THEM TO THESE UNQUALIFIED AMATEURS.

I walked in a few minutes ago to purchase food for my pup, I walked to the royal canin section and I see staff (Hispanic, short hair) skipping towards my isle, when he saw me he turned around walked back to the register, nodding at the girl at the register.. I walked right behind him, once I saw him nodding at her I asked the guy if everything is okay because he was following me. I was annoyed he responded while laughing “yeah why”. This is totally unacceptable, I have never been treated this way. Nonetheless watched while shopping. Train your staff to follow people that actually steal.

petsmart grooming girl named alyssa, use FURminator on my thin haired pitbull knowing that as a professional you should not use that strong of a shampoo on white haired/thin haired pit bulls. It was my first time and I had no knowledge about this shampoo but she recommended it saying it was the only one that was be good for shredding. Two days after grooming, he developed a bad allergic reaction to the chemicals. Petsmart gave me a hard time when it came to them paying for the vet bill. Dave the store manager was dismissive and was talking to me as if I did it to my dog. Grace the manager from grooming was the only one that was understanding and knew that that shampoo was not supposed to be used on my dog. Alyssa needs training, and lessons on dog grooming. Dave shouldn’t even work at petsmart if he’s not gonna care about the animals going there. Thankfully, they paid for my vet bill, but wow what a hassle they gave me. Never going there again. I recommend everyone going to a professional grooming!!!!!!!

Very upsetting to see that Petsmart is selling open bags(unsealed) of dog food and on top of that EXPIRED over 3 months!!!! I’m glad I noticed but please be careful when buying from this store this is extremely careless!

I was amazed. Very clean and well organized. The staff were very responsive, knowledgeable, and caring of my concerns about the health and grooming of my pets. They groomed my dog and it looks beautiful! !!! Great job guys :)

Took my dog to get groomed at this petsmart. I had been to others which weren't so nice nor had the best staff but Kearney is lovely! The staff is amazing and the rooming salon is so nice and clean. It's very inviting. also super quick when it comes to completing grooms. I also worked with me when booking my other dog who can be a handful!

Grace is always so great with my Pom, Pinkie. At her last grooming, Grace took extra care with Pinkie as Pinkie had developed some skin irritations and runny eyes. Grace suggested it might be an allergic reaction to new food we recently introduced. We have a vet appt to find out for sure but I'm thankful for Grace's ever present concern for my Pinkie! Grace and Arlene have been grooming Pinkie for years.

First time I took my dog here and this is what happened. Left Nelson to be groomed by Jude R at 2:30PM, at 4:16PM I missed a call from them and got a voicemail saying that Nelson was at the Union Animal Hospital because they cut his paw while trying to groom him. I immediately try to call back upon hearing that and am not able to reach them, so I go there in person to find out what was going on and a young girl tells me she accidentally cut him underneath his paw while grooming him because he pulled his paw back but not to worry because he wasn't "bleeding profusely or anything" and that they took him to the vet as a precaution. They told us the manager (apparently her name is Grace) would be back with Nelson within half hour, we waited and while doing so I asked for a copy of the incident report or a written statement saying they'd cover the vet costs, some guy there immediately said no and that I could only get a copy of their incident report through their corporate and that they couldn't give me a written statement either, I asked why and he gave no explanation, just kept saying they wouldn't do it and giving me an attitude. The manager never called me directly, another half hour passed with no news. I only got news about Nelson at 6:40PM when the vet called me directly, then at 6:59PM PetSmart called me saying they have Nelson back and I can finally come pick him up. We got there within 10 minutes and there's only a receptionist waiting, the manager didn't bother to show up and tell us what happened at the vet or give any further explanations. I understand that accidents can happen and I am not mad at the girl who accidentally hurt Nelson, she was actually very polite and apologetic and seemed to understand my frustration. But the other guy who spoke with us with an attitude and the manager who never once contacted me directly nor bothered to wait for us were absolutely awful and enraged me, it's unbelievable how unprepared and unprofessional these people are. I'm never setting my foot at a PetSmart again and I will warn others not to come here either. Nelson has had a very rough day and he seems depressed and is very quiet since we got home, which is not like him at all.

The grooming department provided me and my puppy with subpar treatment. It was our initial encounter, and both the groomer and I felt uneasy, prompting me to decline their services.I made a reservation online but received a missed call and a voicemail from a groomer explaining that she was unable to groom my puppy due to her weight restriction. They rescheduled my appointment and requested that I reach out if I encountered any problems. Despite not being consulted about my availability, I agreed to the new arrangement.The following day, I realized I had a conflicting meeting, so I called to reschedule for 5:45 PM, a time offered by a staff member at the store. After my meeting, I received another call from the grooming department, asking if I could bring my puppy in earlier. I agreed to accommodate their request.Upon arrival, the groomer inquired about my grooming preferences. I simply requested an overall trim, a shave for his face, paws, and sanitary area, and mentioned that a complete brushing out would not be unnecessary as I liked his curls. However, the groomer insisted that she couldn't fulfill these specifications because she needed to thoroughly brush him out during the bath, claiming that she didn't have enough time. Despite my attempts to clarify and ensure we were on the same page, she remained reluctant in opposition to a light trim. Instead, she proposed cutting off all his hair due to time constraints . It's important to note that they had already rescheduled, causing inconvenience and wasting my time. Proximity and convenience should not be equated with quality

I will never bring my dog here again. I’ve brought my dog here last week for a cut and the girl called me back within 5min to come back to pickup my dog. She only cut around his neck and nothing else. She complained he was matted. Which he isn’t. The vet told me my pet wasn’t matted and I’ve also took him to another dog groomer for an 2nd opinion. They also said my dog is not matted. The last 2 times I’ve brought my dog here to pet smart I’ve been having problems with these people.
