On a sisters' weekend (from out of town), we were looking for a unique local casual dining location. We kinda fell into this place by accident - a wonderful accident! The service provided is full of smiles in the voice on on the face. The food was unexpected. The menu is readily explained and suggestions were made for exploration. The dining area was cozy, decorated appealingly with relaxing music playing moderately in the background. Will plan to return when in the area.

Very cute small place for a quick bite. I had a chicken salad sandwich and it was pretty decent. My husband had meatloaf, which was a little cold and the wrong choice in meals, as it was just OK. My soup didn’t come out before my meal. The mac and cheese however, was excellent. Overall we would try it if back in the area, but with a different choice of meals for sure!

I ordered a croque monsieur with a fried egg on top from Two Black Dogs Cafe and Take Out. It was delicious! The gruyere cheese was so strong, the bread had big, airy holes in it with crispy, buttery edges, and there was a generous portion of grilled ham. The egg on top was fried through, but not too hard.The chips that came with the sandwich were also good. Everything at the very least was good, if not completely delicious. My daughter ordered chicken fingers and to my utter surprise, they were homemade! They were panko-breaded and still juicy inside.There are some little things worth mentioning: the food does take some time to come out. It's clearly homemade (with pride and love). The wait is worth it. The portion sizes combined with the wait time work out excellently - if you come hungry, you won't be leaving with leftovers.It's also very small inside. There are six tables with generous room in between each, but there are still only six tables.They were out of a few dishes that night. Being a Wednesday evening in the very beginning of the tourist season of Cape May County, this wasn't a surprise to me. People unfamiliar with the general flow of Cape May County might find it unusual.In an effort to cut this already long review short, my closing thoughts are that diners who really enjoy a unique atmosphere, a home-style feeling, and friendly, familial like service will enjoy Two Black Dogs Cafe and Take Out for a sit-down meal. Everyone else and those with larger groups should otherwise do themselves a favor and order the takeout.

First time dining with Two Black Dogs at the suggestion of a member of our group. Will definitely be returning! We were a table of five and we all loved our meals that included great soup, delicious sandwiches and dessert. The three featured desserts were all made on premises. The chocolate silk pie was amazing! The wait staff and chef were wonderful. Looking forward to returning and trying other items on their menu.

My boyfriend and I were visiting from out of state and needed a bite to eat before visiting the Jersey Shore Alpacas from right up the street. The owner recommended we come here and let me tell you, it was one of the best parts of our day. We ordered the philly cheesesteak and roast beef sandwiches (both with fries.) They were both absolutely superb. We ate inside the restaurant and at the quality and price, we both thought it was a sin that we were the only ones in there. We will absolutely be making this spot a go-to next time we are in NJ!

The food was good, but the service was appalling and impersonal. The lady at the front told us we couldn't stay and eat since we didn't have a reservation, which we understood, and decided to get take out rather than wait 2 hours. It was supposed to be 10-15 minute wait but ended up being 30 minutes of us standing in an EMPTY restaurant. Again we were respectful and not even super annoyed at this point. However, as we left the restaurant, the lady came to the front door, locked her car, and proceeded to watch us as we waited for our ride.

On visit one I ordered poutine . Poutine is well done french fries , covered with onion gravy , and with cheese curds mixed in . A curd is a dairy product of a dense and mild cheese .Calorie dense and a very filling appetizer , it's a Canadian dish I always wanted to sample.Poutine that day was enjoyable , but I would really have to be in the mood for this dish to order again. Maybe on a really cold day after a long hike to share with a few friends ?On another visit , I ordered fried chicken , cod and shrimp. Chicken was boneless and served southern style with a yummy crisp breading. Cod tasted like tilapia , what can I say , but was acceptable. Shrimp were fine. Very good 🧀 cheesey grits and an outstanding veggie roulade rounded out this dish nicely.On my last visit , I ordered the famous Cuban sandwich from Cuba , and more recently a south Florida tradition.Two black 🐶 dogs cafe had all the right ingredients , but sandwich was served cold . Like a common deli sandwich.Every Cuban I have had , and I am sure their are variations , is always served grilled , compacted in a press for easier handling , and served 🔥 hot.French fries 🍟 are one dollar extra , and i have not sampled the home made potato 🥔 chips , which , of course is on my bucket list.Should you go ? Yes , absolutely . Two dogs is this close to a five ⭐ review , and in my next few visits , may achieve Dave' s best fine fast dining award.update : 3-3 -22 two black dogs just awarded best cheese steak in cape may county. Fresh steak , maybe thin sliced top round , or another fine cut , freshly sliced and fresh , not frozen , meat . Cooked to perfection with cheese , fried onions and mushrooms , juicy , tender , and bursting with flavor of fresh beef steak , this is the best cheese steak I have had in a long , long time . It is a big sandwich loaded with fresh steak . Great roll , lot's of crispy homemade potato chips , and a zesty pickle spear with a twist , this sandwich will not disappoint.

I’ve driven past this cafe several times. I was finally able to order take out. I came late to pick up my order and they were so generous to accommodate me. They were so nice and welcoming. Not only their hospitality is 10/10, the food is amazing. The Ruben was amazing- so juicy, flavorful, and delicious. Fries were well seasoned and the poutine was amazing with bacon. 10/10 would order again!

Prices are reasonable for the menu of mostly sandwich items. They're located right next to the Acorn camp grounds, which likely provides much of their clientele.The food was pretty good once it came out. We were told that everything is made to order and therefore takes 15 - 20 minutes to prepare. Since this was our first time there, we weren't aware, so we weren't really prepared to wait that long. Take out would probably be better, to reduce wait time. My partner's chicken salad sandwich had a shrimp tail in it, which really upset him. He said to the waitstaff that consequences could have been much worse had he been allergic to seafood. They made him a fresh chicken salad sandwich, which took an additional 15 minutes. Drinks are limited to a handful of soda or bottled water, no ice machine on the premises.

Solid 4 stars! The meals, sandwiches, and chips/fries are all huge portions and very tasty! We had the turkey club, Italian sandwich, chips and fries -- all of which were very good. The clam chowder was VERY tasty, but it was cold like it had just come out of the fridge -- not even slightly warm -- and this is the main reason for the 4 rating.The sandwiches took a LONG time to come out, but we weren't in a hurry and enjoyed how quaint the place is. The woman helping us was very friendly and knew a lot of the locals who came in to grab a bite; it's always wonderful to be in a place where locals go, and the restaurant knows them by name.We'll definitely be back to try more menu items -- we'll just skip the soup next time 😉

We have driven by this place so many times. My hair salon (Creations) had their menu so we took the opportunity today to have lunch. WOW...we have a new special lunch spot for sure. Fantastic food, quality and love the ambience of the place. Casual food fare. Don't expect a fast food experience but when you know what you are getting, it is well worth waiting a few minutes more and just loving every single bite. A winner!

Stumbled upon this place today after picking blueberries. It is a hidden gem! The food was delicious! We loved the spinach artichoke dip! The servings were all generous! The owner was very nice and accommodating! My chicken salad sandwich was incredible! So Tasty! We will definitely be returning!

Wow!!! These owners know what they are doing. Two of my old friends and I went to the Two Black Dogs Cafe yesterday and had the thin slices rib eye cheese steak (excellent) and one fish and chips. The Cod will melt in your mouth. Everything is very freshly made.Don't pass by the little old red church and go into the Two Black Dogs Cafe its well worth going out of your way or just stop in when driving past. I know we will be going back often and have menus in our guest books.Thanks again for serving us.Anthony

Delicious from scratch food. If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by. The portobello fries are unique and so tasty and anything with the fried chicken is a winner!

My partner and I had an excellent meal on Valentine's day❤️ We had Chateaubriand for two which was cooked to perfection and a delicious chocolate silk pie. We did ask for extra vegetables because there really wasn't enough with the meal which they had no problem giving us. It was chilly in there but even that wasn't a big deal. Can't wait to go back again!

My family and I eat here often. The food is delicious and savory. There isn't a thing on the menu that isn't worth getting, it's all phenomenal! The meatloaf if killer. The bangers and mashed potatoes rock. The burgers Mt in your mouth. All of it! And if you like chocolate, get the chocolate silk pie. It is to die for! Make it a point to stop here for food. So very worth it!

Small restaurant really specializing in takeout. Only a few tables on the inside. Food was really good and portion size was commiserate with cost. Hostess was not very friendly however. May have been related to the fact that I’m not a local. In any case would still recommend and always support local restaurants.

Best tiramusa that I have ever eaten! Portobello mushrooms, asigo cheese, white truffle oil, and a side of tomato jam - incredibly delicious! Cute place, excellent service, great food, and lots of it!

food was great, the back seating area was really nice. on our way there we accidentally passed it because it was a little difficult to spot from the road. parking lot lines in the front parking area would help distinguish the building as a place to stop and eat.

EDIT!!!!!- the only negative reviews are about MASKS??????? People have TRULY lost their minds. The food is delicious here….no bs. Don’t let these WHACKO’s talking about high chairs and limited menu sway your decision. TRUST ME…I vibe with the woman who owns this joint. Keep up the great work TBD!Excellent food!! We’ve been at the campground next door for 30 years now. It’s AWESOME to have such good food so close! We will be regulars, no doubt!

Outstanding. My neighbors introduced me to Two Black Dogs. This place makes some great food. Try the Cuban. Not everyone can make them Tampa-style.Try everything. IYou will be happy.
