Visited for the first time, they seem to have a large selection of food, treats, toys, etc. But I didn’t make a purchase because of the sales woman who was giving a dog owner information about food because their dog may be exhibiting signs of a possible allergy (even the owner wasn’t sure), telling them that the dog maybe allergic to grains and the grain free study that has shown to cause heart disease in dogs is a lie and “old school vets would say the same”, also telling them that they need to feed their dog a certain way because “dogs are descends from wolves”. As someone who is part of the veterinary field I feel the only advice should be to consult their vet before trying to offer any type of medical advice. I understand trying to sell a food but this type of information coming from a person just trying to sell someone dog food is harmful.

Me, my husband and our boy Theo stopped by while in town after Christmas shopping because I was looking for a place that carried our dogs food orijen and I saw they had some! What a wonderful experience it was meeting the people working there! They were so welcoming and helpful and loved Theo! Theo been nervous to go in stores for a while because of a loud sound that occured last in a store before but he was so comfortable in their store and I couldn't believe it! Highly recommend this place! They carry great products and are great people! Theo spotted one of his Christmas presents so I gave him half and he loved it! Thank you guys!!

Went in for cat food on Thursday. They didn't have what I usually get. The young woman behind the counter went out of her wayShe looked on the order sheet. She went upstairs to look for me. She came back with the correct food. She was awesome. Wish I caught her name to mention her. Best service around.

I was referred to Barkley’s when Pet Valu in Flemington closed down, and I’m so glad I was! I have been coming here ever since. The staff is very knowledgeable about their products and every time I go inside everyone is so kind and helpful. The owner Andy gets to know his regular customers on a personal level and does his best to ensure he’s stocked up with your pet’s favorite food and other items, which is always much appreciated! Barkley’s is definitely a Flemington gem!

I've been coming to Barkley's for over a year now for quality treats, toys, food, and cat litter. I always find their selection the highest quality and the most thoughtful. I recently had a great conversation with Andy about new options for dog food and he was incredibly knowledgeable and receptive to the qualities I was looking for in a new food.My one suggestion is to have better price tags and signage. I often have to ask the price on multiple items. 9 times out of 10 the prices are comparable if not better than those you'd find on Amazon or Chewy's. But the help you get from a knowledgeable employee and the fact that it's a local business right downtown with convenient street parking is really awesome.

What a great experience! I wanted a gift for a friend who had invited my wife and me to dinner so we asked Andy for a recommendation for our friends dog instead of just bringing a bottle of something). His suggestion was a huge hit with the dog and the owners. The store is great and has a huge selection. If we owned a pet I know where we'd be shopping...

I don't usually take time out of my day to leave reviews, but the service here was amazing and I wanted to share my experience. I live in Brooklyn and I have a subscription with a raw dog food brand; they hadn't delivered on time during the week of Christmas and so I was afraid I'd have to change my dogs diet for the week while I was with family for the holidays, which can throw off their whole digestive system. I take a lot of care in choosing my dogs' diets and this was causing me major anxiety - two members of Barkley's staff sat on the phone with me and looked through the website of the company I normally buy from to find me a raw food brand they stocked that was the closest match so I could have a family member pick it up. I really appreciated the extra effort and they not only saved me a lot of stress, but also prevented a week of feeding my dogs not-so-great food. Thank you so much!

EXCELLENT customer service! Andy, the proprietor, has an extensive knowledge - breadth and depth - of everything dog. He is well-versed in breeds and their respective unique needs, and animal nutrition. He also has a wide selection of play things. Perhaps most significantly, he is honest about what he can and can't do for the best price, keeping the customer's best interest foremost. AND he delivers!! Barkley's is the best place for all of your dog and cat needs. The owner is super friendly and helpful, and walked us through the process of changing our cat's food. He will even take back anything the cats don't like. Also, he delivers to a large area, if you buy more than $50 worth of merchandise.

Andy is so knowledgeable about the lines he carries that we feel very comfortable with his dog product recommendations. The store has a large but select inventory of really good products (food, toys, treats other). Best part aside from knowing you are getting good quality products at fair pricing is to playing with his 4-legged assistants.

They are so helpful here. We have a dog with digestive issues, they gave us advice and free samples so we could get our little pooch back to normal. Tons of toys, chews, treats, and food. Staff is awesome!

A store that really goes above and beyond with customer service... We ran out of our dog's Merrick kibble while I was on vacation and my girlfriend was stuck working in the Emergency Room on a on-call weekend from hell. The owner was away in Japan on vacation but he returned our desperate calls at whatever strange hour it was there and arranged a late night weekend home delivery.You really can't put a price on that kind of kindness.
