Took my old 21 year old family dog here today. (Yes 21 long eventful human years!) I called and they just so happened to have an opening in 2 hours. Our dog was living her last few days in pain and it was time for her to go to heaven and be in peace. The staff especially Dr. Ottosen was very compassionate and was very gentle with our girl. They were very thoughtful and I liked how they respected our time with our dog and even told us we can leave out the back if we wanted (so we wouldn’t have to see the other happy dogs in the waiting room.) It was very difficult to let go of our dog but we knew it was the best so that she wouldn’t have to live in pain anymore. I was so afraid it would seem very surgical and heartless but it was the opposite. They made the process easier and I am grateful. The paw print keepsake made me cry. Thank you to all the staff that made this difficult process an easier one.

They are super friendly to begin with. The doctor was very professional and gave me a comprehensive run down of the situation with my cat, expectations and recovery. They were very efficient and did the surgery on the same day as the consultation. I'm very satisfied with their expertise and service.

When we first moved to the area with our senior pit bull mix Harley, I was nervous about finding the right care for her. I am very happy to have found Fanwood Animal Hospital, their facility was clean, organized and the staff was very helpful since day 1. We've had a lot of ups and downs in the last few years with Harley, and through the hard times we always knew we could depend on the care provided by the whole staff at Fanwood Animal Hospital.Harley has battled through emergencies like cancer, arthritis, ACL surgery consult, and other benign issues such as allergies, ear infections, stomach issues and has had the opportunity of being taken care by all the doctors here; Dr. Lam, Dr. Frantz, Dr. Roby and Dr. Ottoson and I always felt like they all treated Harley like she was one of their own. I can't say thank you enough to the whole staff, including the technicians and office personnel. I chose FAH when I moved to the area in September based on the quality of the vets and the positive reviews. My dog, Noodle has food sensitivities and she has been in for several appointments over the past few months - the reason I am giving more than 1 star. Noodle started vomiting last night, and continued to throw up almost the whole night, then she had horrible diarrhea this morning. I was able to get an appointment this morning, brought her in, and she was given fluids under the skin, anti-nausea injection and I was sent home with antibiotic pills. From the time we arrived home, my dog started having bloody diarrhea. I needed to get the antibiotics onboard, but Noodle refused to eat or drink - even her favorite peanut butter. I had to put the pill in her mouth and wait for her to swallow. When the diarrhea got worse called the vet and while I was waiting for them to call back, I read online that in these situations it was best to keep your dog hydrated. So here I am, very sick dog who is sick from both ends - not eating or drinking, how am I supposed to keep her hydrated?! The vet returned my call and said, try to keep her hydrated and eventually the antibiotics would kick in. Well for 4 hours this afternoon, I couldn't get any fluids into my dog and the frequency of diarrhea increased. I called back late in the afternoon because I really didn't know what to do. A receptionist called me back and told me the vet said to go to the ER if I felt like Noodle needed to be hydrated. Now, my bill from the earlier visit was $772.00, yes over 700 dollars. I am shocked that when I called back during regular business hours because my dog's symptoms were worse, that I was told to go to the ER because they were not able to help with hydrating my dog.I chose this veterinary practice, and in our time of need I discovered that they were unable to supply what I consider basic care. You can decide if these are the people you want caring for your family. I am taking my business elsewhere.

The visit was quick and we had great service! The vet and vet tech were so friendly and helpful. They got on the floor with my dog and gave him lots of love and treats. I appreciated the gesture!

In the 6 years that we've had our dog Harley, we've been to 3 different non-emergency animal hospitals (since we've moved around a few times) and can say without a doubt that Fanwood Animal Hospital is by far our favorite.The space itself is large, clean, and was well thought out. I love how expansive the waiting room is - it makes us feel comfortable about waiting with our slightly reactive dog. I also like that that there are separate entrances and exits for the same reason. The outdoor and parking area out front is also very spacious.The doctors and staff are also amazing. Knowledgable, helpful, and kind. Our dog is quite old now (13 in a few months) and they've been fantastic through everything that's happened in recent years - torn ACL, cancer, and arthritis. We're so thankful tot everyone at Fanwood Animal Hospital.

Great place to bring your pets. The vet techs and doctors that I’ve had so far are great and helpful. My dog enjoys being there and feels comfortable. I hope I stay in this area for years to come to continue bringing her to this location.

I really love how welcoming the staff and doctors are. I've been going here for about 4 years and Lannister, my cat, has never been treated poorly. Dr. Lam has been very gentle and caring. Lanny, has had surgery here too and they took very good care of him and kept me aware of every step of the process. I highly recommend coming here.

Very good first experience. Remaining Covid restrictions are annoying and a front desk person wasn't very friendly but the nurse and doctor were excellent and the facility is very clean and nice.

We had to have my dog checked for arthritis- I emailed X-rays for the vet to look at but the only answer she gave us was to see a specialist-and prescribed an anti-inflammatory. Nice office -staff friendly. It’s 100. for an office visit -

I go so back and forth with this place. Honestly, the experience is either great or horrible. But unfortunately, it is getting to the point where it's becoming more horrible of an experience. It starts by who you get on the phone when you make an appointment. Some ladies are great and willing to work with you, some could care less. Sue for example....GOOD LUCK. Rude, unprofessional and one of the main reasons why I am done with this place. Same goes with the vet techs, either great or horrible no in between. All of the vets I have seen there are great, that was really the only pleasant part, but to me it all starts with the office staff and some of the people in this office staff have ruined this place. You're better off looking in Scotch Plains, Westfield or South Plainfield. Don't waste your energy with these rude people. I've been to Scotch Plains vet and never any of the issues I've had here. Fanwood was just more convenient. But now I can say I am finally done!!!

I took my kitten, Abby, to see Dr. Roby and it was such a great experience. The dr and the tech explained what they were going to do which helped me feel informed. From the nice receptionists to the tech to the dr, you could tell they care for their patients. I'm so glad to be a patient here. They're professional, caring, and astute.

I've been bringing my dogs to FAH for 18 years and counting. They've been there for us from having to put our old pups down to welcoming our newest additions. They currently care for our 4 plus will see any foster in my care, if necessary. I can't brag enough about the front office staff let alone the phenomenal vets. Thank you for all you do for my pups.

On more than one occasion in the past, I tried reaching the practice and needed either a call back or to be told to come in for an appointment. However, in particular, on Wednesday, Dec 7, 2021, I called the practice I gave the receptionist a very detailed description of my concern, and I needed a renewal prescription for a Hills kibble. I wanted to travel with my dog during the upcoming weekend. I felt I either needed to speak with the vet on the phone or be given an appointment. In this case I waited at home for two days with no call back. I would have been willing to see another one of the veterinarians.in the practice but that option was not offered to me. I will admit this has upset me profoundly and made me extremely anxious because it hurts my dog. There is a word for this behavior: Ghosting. I am being ghosted by a licensed professional with whom I have. a relationship and my dog is being hurt because I cannot renew her kibbl. I also wanted a prescription or another recommendation for my dog’s anxiety that will be exacerbated by traveling.this weekend. She has anxiety under certain circumstances. I feel really horrible about this. I will have to go elsewhere when I-get back. I am trying not to over react. Dr.Franz is a great vet who came highly recommended to me by a long time friend of mine who is a long time patient. It appears he picks and chooses who he wants to work with and my dog and I are not welcome in his practice.Lorene Connolly

I have been taking my pets to Fanwood Animal Hospital for at least 15 years and have always been happy with the treatment that my dogs and cats have received there. I have found the vets and all of the staff to be very compassionate people. They treat my pets as if they were their own and I never feel rushed in an appointment.Last week when I was there and saw Dr. Franz with our new puppy, I was thinking on my way home how I wished I could find a pediatrician for my son who is as compassionate and thorough a doctor as Dr. Franz is for my dog.I highly recommend Fanwood Animal Hospital.

We love this place and have brought our dogs here for years. Friendly, compassionate staff and doctors. They've helped us through the passing of dogs, welcoming new family members and everything in between (including dental surgery and diagnosing of two different torn ACLs). We can usually get an appointment pretty quickly when necessary. Highly recommended.

I used this practice 35 years ago with my very first dog. When I recently got 2 new dogs, I looked to see if they were still in business. The ownership has changed since then, but the service is still outstanding! Dr. Frantz and the entire staff are wonderful to work with! They truly have your pet's best interest at heart. The doctors get back to you quickly if you have questions and never recommend unnecessary treatments just to make a few bucks. They have convenient hours and get you in quickly for appointments. i can't say enough about how much of a pleasure it is to have them care for my fur babies and I recommend them to anyone looking for a great vet!

Great overall experience with very helpful staff. Ver always says to call if we have any concerns after a visit and they really do call back and give advice over the phone so you don't have to keep going back. Grateful for that because many places just want you to book another appointment... Keep it up!!

My experience was great. Communication was good and the whole Covid procedure was smooth. They took care of my pup and he's already doing much better with the meds prescribed. Good Vets are never cheap but they were in my budget and I'll be a regular customer moving forward. Thanks guys!

Fanwood Animal Hospital is wonderful. The staff is extremely knowledgeable. They are so caring to both the animals and their owners. We Love Dr Roby! She is amazing but all the Vets are incredible.

The most loving, patient staff here. Brought my GSD for his first vet visit and he has major "stranger danger" issues. Since our pup wasn't in a good state of mind the first time we came we had to reschedule our visit. They sent us home with a tiny script of sedatives and a reschedule of our appt. We came back today, after pup took his Rx and he was considerably more chill than the first time (for obvious reasons). Dr Roby had a kind, gentle, understanding, demeanor on the phone and went through all his vitals for us and sent us home with only the flea & tick preventative and heartworm preventative he needed. She advised us of vaccines that he would need under certain circumstances, but given his concerns in public currently, we collectively decided we could postpone those treatments. Everyone there has been very patient, kind, and has not tried to "sell us" on any unnecessary treatments, meds, or otherwise. Very trustworthy group and put all of my fears at ease, helping to ensure the health of our pup.
