Excellent shopping and eating. I'm a homebody and still find it worth it to brave the crowds. Even when there's a line, food stalls move quickly. Great selection of sake.

All the food. Grocery store, several restaurants/lunch places and dessert options!! Got the purple potato on purple potato ice cream and it was phenomenal. Behind the complex is a great view of the city. Parking horrendous, but worth the effort between the food, the view and the other shops!

I don't live in New Jersey so coming to Mitsuwa always feels like a mini day trip vacation. This place never fails to surprise me with products I've never seen before and the variety of foods is always amazing. I can satisfy all of my cravings here and still bring a ton back home to slowly enjoy. They have fresh produce, so many varieties of drinks, rice, teas, sakes, breads, ramen, snacks etc etc! The list goes on and on. I always walk out of there happy and already wishing I'll be going back again soon!

Mitsuwa is a large Japanese chain supermarket that anchors a strip mall containing other Japanese stores (e.g. Kinokuniya bookstore, Shiseido cosmetic store, Daiso dollar store, etc). It is one of if not the biggest and most extensively stocked Japanese store in the tri-state area. They carry many food items that are often difficult procure at other supermarkets (e.g. nagaimo used for okonomiyaki, shio kōji used for marinating, myoga (Japanese ginger), etc.). They also carry a wide assortment of non-food items from Japan (e.g. cleaning supplies, beauty supplies, rice cookers, cooking utensils, and on and on). It’s not cheap, but a lot of things are shipped directly from Japan. I especially like going to Mitsuwa when they showcase a particular region of Japan as you get to eat regional foods that you rarely see outside of Japan - right now, they are showcasing food from Miyagi prefecture in the Tōhoku region. The supermarket also houses a very popular food court, confectioners including the high-end Minamoto Kichoan, a Japanese bakery, a café, an outpost of Royce Chocolate (a brand from Hokkaido), along with a few other stores. In the food court, Hokkaido Ramen Santouka and Omusubi Gombei are especially popular and often have long lines.Just a word of advice - try to go during the week because the weekends are a complete zoo - long lines for the food and for tables, no parking, irritable crowds, etc. If you insist on going on Saturday or Sunday, I would recommend trying to be there early (as in 10 AM) even though most restaurants open at 11 AM.

get here early if you can to get parking! It’s super busy on the weekends as it should be bc this is the best place to get anything Japanese, food, groceries, books, toys anything you can think of really! It’s a cute little Japan.

Great Asian market, but EVEN better samples! I loved the sausages and had to help myself to a second serving! 😋😋 I purchased strawberries straight from Japan and they were DECADENT.✨ Easily accessible via buses which run 7 days a week but not everyday.

A fun, small japanese supermarket with loads of authentic items you can't find elsewhere. The attached food court has tons of options that all look fantastic. Prices are all very understandable for what they offer and everything was very clean.

Go around 7:45 and the sushi will be market down. You can sometimes get some really good sushi like scallop and uni. The bakery have some really good chocolate muffin as well. Very addicting.Edit: 2nd time around, they have a festival, got the crab chirashi. Not bad but a bit of shell in some places. Probably would go for the sushi in the fridge next time

Mitsuwa is the only Japanese grocery store here in New Jersey and it’s food court is the biggest draw. I can find my favorite authentic Japanese dishes here and it’s all within my budget.

My sister and I like to stop here before going to the spa. We usually enjoy a matcha green bubble tea, which is so great compared to other places. This time we also shared a mochi black sesame donut, which I've never had before. It was a great experience so next time, I'll be sure to try another type.

Imagine you're fatigued from a 23 hour flight to meet the love of your life. Do you know whata the first meal you should get when you're at New Jersey? Not Chick-fil-A. You should definitely get the kaisendons at Mitsuwa. The portioning of the sashimi to rice ratio was immaculate. But the highlight was definitely the unagi don. The unagi definitely stole the show of the day. It melts so easily in your mouth, slapping you with a great load of umami. You just got to close your eyes and experience it yourself.Oh, and the miso soup is alright too.

I can’t even begin to explain my love for Mitsuwa Marketplace. Been going here since I was 4 years old and glad to see the place has stuck to its authenticity. In terms of groceries, Mitsuwa can be on the pricier side but everything is very high quality. Mainly Japanese foods, products and even skincare. I am always excited to go here since the place is very nostalgic. For the food court, it is the most authentic version you could find around this area. Here are some of my recommendations; the spicy miso from Hokkaido Ramen (pork broth), the Takoyaki from Hannosuke, the dumplings from Hanten. There’s so much food to try! If your craving something sweet Kai Creamery is the place to go, the purple potato (taro) ice cream is to die for. But off in the back is a donut place with the fluffiest matcha donuts which I also suggest. There are also many storefronts around the area to explore, I could not rave about this place any more! The photo is of purple potato ice cream with red bean from Kai Creamery!

Neat marketplace! I went here with some Japanese friends from my college and it was neat to get a taste of a different culture without going to another country. I hope to visit Japan sometime soon! ありがとうございます!

I only had time to visit the supermarket itself, not the food court, but I was pleasantly surprised how large the place is! The supermarket is very clean and well organized. The aisles are clearly marked with names of items they contain and some products with a large variety such as rice, tea and soy sauce have additional boards with explanatory information, which I found very handy! You'll find anything you want in here - fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen food, packaged food, ready made food, meats including wagyu beef, drinks, alcohol, sake, cosmetics, snacks and even an inhouse bakery, but what I loved and appreciated most was the fresh seafood & fish section with ready made sushi pieces!Inside the supermarket I encounter several places offering to taste food, which is a great way of advertising! Since most of the items are imported, it's not a cheap place to shop, definitely not suited for regular food shopping, but a great place to get some exotic items and experiment with Japanese cuisine.Visited in May 2023. Paid by card.

Great place to eat Japanese cuisine. It was a bit crowded and busy but worth the wait. So many things to choose from in the market. Excellent place to find delicious snacks. Will definitely return again soon for lunch on my next visit to the area.

I really enjoy shopping here! It is a good deal on everything from skincare to snacks. Love the different food court options and the seasonal snacks they display out. Had the king crab croquettes today- pretty darn good. Very nice staff and clean store.

First time trying the food court at Mitsuwa and it was crazy packed inside. We ordered from different stands; single portion of the fried dumplings and fried rice, 2 potato and mozzarella cheese corn dogs, and 2 Nikutamaten Udon. The dumplings and fried rice came out to $10.65, it was a decent sized portion, good but nothing special. We also went to a stand named Kaneda and got the udon and corn dogs. The cheese in the corn dogs were not melted, size was small, and it was cold, did not like the taste at all. The udon soup on the other hand had very flavorful broth and a good portion of noodles inside. The beef was tender and had great flavor tasted a bit sweet; they also topped it with a soft-boiled egg which added an extra umph.Ordering is fast and easy, and they call out your number when your food is ready. Luckily, we were able to find seating fast on a Saturday afternoon. There was also a lady there to pick up your trays when you are done which is super helpful. If you ever want a quick bite to eat this is the place to go.The supermarket itself is also very nice and organized. They also had little stands to taste the different items they have for sale, love that! Parking was crazy, spun around for like 15 minutes but finally was able to find a spot.

Terrific place to eat and shop. Good food, with lots of options make for a nice place to try multiple dishes. The grocery is also great with many things you won't find in other stores. Recommend this place to anyone who wants to spend some time eating and shopping while enjoying their time spent.

Greatest Japanese market in the East Coast. It's clean, spacious, full of Japanese items, from frozen meat, fresh vegetables to ramen and baking goods. There are Japanese plum wines and kenzo sparkling from Napa Valley. Great fun with friends or come with family members, Always enjoyed the shopping, quick snack or dinner and a cone of ice cream with mont blanc topping!

Mitsuwa has a lot to offer in the ways of Japanese cuisine. Not only are they a grocery store but they also have little restaurants to eat at. The food was delicious and I was finally able to try Mochi donuts!!! So yummy! Try their ramen and takoyaki. They also offer the really expensive melon from Japan that you don't see every day which is a really cool experience. Definitely a fun place to go to.

A year ago, my friend told me about this place, and at that time i was thinking it's just a regular japanese food or asian market something like that. And today, i just realized that this place is really amazing, i felt like i'm in a Japanese for the brand they sell and the food court they have are trully represent Japan in a small place like Mitsuwa Marketplace. Definately i'll be back and driving there for 1hr from Elmhurst, Queens NY. Highly Recommended!

Fresh groceries, collections of Japanese household items, sake and snacks can be found here. Plenty of fast food restaurants on-site, lines can get long during rush hour. Must try the mochi donuts. Disappointed to find snacks with short expiration date...one week from time of purchase 😔.

Absolutely fantastic place to eat. It doesn’t cost as much because there are no waiters , but the ramen and tempura were awesome
