Dr. Rita Rivero is the best veterinarian in Bergen County. My family and I have had the honor of knowing her as she cared for our just shy of 16 year old Wheaton Terrier. From the time Jersey was 5 months old until her passing 3 weeks ago, Dr Rivero has been an incredibly caring and knowledgeable person. She is the only veterinarian that Jersey ever saw and we wouldn’t have it any other way. So Blessed to have had her care for Jersey even at the most difficult time in the end. All our thanks and appreciation to the entire staff at Demarest Veterinarian. ♥️

I have never been in a more compassionate loving place for animals than Dr. Riveros Clinic. She is the most loving and caring person. She took care of my cat Levi along with her other amazing loving doctor (who even worked with a broken foot) as if he was their own. They saved his life...and I will be forever grateful. Took my 10 weeks old for an initial first check up. I waited 1 hour for less than 30 sec check up. Kept pushing for vaccination that’s too early. The place was dirty. Above all, my puppy had diarrhea all day after the visit. And had to find a new doc to cure the diarrhea issue the very next day. There are many many vets in Bergen county. Why in the world would people go here?

I found Dr. Rita Rivero online and read her reviews. They were incredible. We needed to bring our 2 year old male cat to a vet because he was having stomach issues. I called, and Dr. Rivero answered the phone herself because it was the day her office was closed. She asked why I was calling and told me to bring Finley in that evening and she would see him. She took her time with us, and Finley and other patients were coming in as well. I would recommend Dr. Rivero as a veterinarian to anyone who needs a great doctor.

Dr. Rivero is amazing, she’s kind and professional we love her. We had an emergency with our 14 year old Bichon frise and she was able to fit us in to see her very quickly. Ollie our cavapoo loves it here. The staff has always been so kind and endearing to us. The way they operate matches very well with our nationwide wellness pet insurance plan. I feel like I never have to pay anything in the end. It's very easy to upload their invoices. They are taking very good care of our puppy.

I absolutely love LOVE LOVE Rita! I came to her because she treats the pets at the place I purchased my dog so I continued to take her since I knew she was already familiar with her. She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the way she approaches pets needs and can offer alternative methods to care for your pet. She doesn't take advantage of her patients or try and run their bill up (like many places) and she is always available whenever you or your pet needs her assistance. I relocated to another state a few years ago and I still haven't found a vet who I trust to care for my pet the way that she has. I wish that she moved with us because I have wasted thousands of dollars without diagnosis and I miss her so much. I am so grateful that even with the distance she loves my baby enough to still answer our call 1000 miles away! She makes her patients feel like family and I always refer everyone I know in the area to her. So grateful for having you as our vet!You forever Patient Amira and Charlie!

Best vet I’ve ever been too!!! She really loves what she does. My cat used to rip her old vet apart, but with Dr.Rita my cat was so calm (compared to how she usually is). Also I had a a cat emergency after her typical working hours, but she helped me through the phone on what to do until I could bring her in. She is a true animal hero!!

Dr.Rivero, first of all, is a fantastic person and a very knowledgeable vet. Our vet canceled on us last minute for the International Health certificate and had the luck to contact Dr.Rivero.Even though the practice was closed, she accommodated us and made sure that we got the certificate right on time.I was amazed by the way she treated our dog and the info provided to me about everything necessary to know (homemade food for pets, traveling with the dog, insurance, etc.).I highly recommend Dr.Rita Rivero.

The doctor showed up late dressed as if she just finished shopping. Upon entering the establishment she then proceeded to be rude, and hurtful to all of her employees, who by the way, were on time to their job. The two nurses were by far the best part of being there, as they actually seemed to love animals, unlike the actual Vet.If you have a cat, do not bring them here, or expect any medical help. She literally didn't even touch my cat, and then proceeded to suggest bloodwork which of course would have been more pricy. Got a second opinion, and got my cat some anxiety meds, and now he's doing just fine can't recommend the Westwood 24 Hour Animal Hospital enough. But if you care for your animal, don't come here. She wants cash over anything else, and is frankly unprofessional in the extreme.

Dr Rita Rivero is the most compassionate Veterinarian I have ever met. I have had to see her twice recently to put my beautiful 17 year old cats to sleep, just months apart. Both times I called her after hours and both times she answered immediately. She met me on a day when her office is typically closed. She spoke to my whole family while we held our little loved ones and praised us for being such loving cat parents. She made what were two very difficult times just a little more bearable. When I picked up my pets ashes, she presented us with a clay paw print that she had made. She is a wonderful Veterinarian and an even better person. She is not about the money , she is about the needs of your fur baby and that really shows.

Rita Rivero is amazing! She was the first one to examine our puppy, even before we got him. So we decided to stick with her, even though we drive about 45 minutes. However, it is worth it to drive that far for great support. I usually as a LOT of questions, and she takes the time (every time !! ) to answer all of my questions. This is highly appreciated! Dr. Rivero was fantastic. She has a wonderful foundation in her mothers name who had polio and contributes and helps people who can afford their pets care. I adopted a brother and sister cats from her. She had updated all their shots and neutered and spayed them with no cost to me because of the foundation for her Mom. Wonderful Vet and person.

Dr Rivero is by far the most helpful and knowledgeable vet I know. She doesn’t rip people off with unnecessary tests and expensive machines like some offices do. Without question, I’ve yet to meet a vet that knows things like she does. She has diagnosed my cats many times through just an examination. I don’t know what I would do without her help. Dr. Rivero was an angel in my dogs life. For over a year several times my dog was having bloody stools no one could figure out why. The first time we met Dr. Rivero she advised me to stop giving him dog food and cook him healthy meals, I started the same day. Dr. Rivero is truly a wonderful, fantastic Vet. that cares about all animals! We took our very sick puppy to her and she was amazing! The puppy is doing great now thanks to her and we couldn't be any happier! I have recently gone to both Dr Rivero and Dr Mueller and I had the best experience with them both. Everyone was very receptive toward the problem my dog was having and doing everything to fix it. Their pricing can’t be beat, and their service is even better! Dr Rivero had called another facility 8 separate times in order to get in touch with someone that would do the best job for my dog. Most people wouldn’t do that, especially for a new patient, and she did. I definitely recommend! I have only gone during Covid and can only assume that it would be even better during regular circumstances

My wife and I cannot say enough about our great experiences with Dr. Rivero. We have been bringing our pets to Demarest Vet for years and will continue to do so. We are very pleased with the care, compassion and knowledge Dr. Rivero has shared and shown us and our pets. It is our opinion that a crowded waiting room is a reassuring sign; that the doctor is in demand. Personally, we have never experienced excessive wait times or a filthy waiting room, even on rainy or snowy days. No complaints here.
