I would give zero stars if I could. The staff makes you feel super unwelcome and unworthy to adopt a little furry friend. The owner will not approve you to adopt a cat, and she won't give you a reason why either. My boyfriend and I requested a reason why we were denied and they ignored our calls and rudely answered our facebook messages. It is genuinely insane. The owner just wants an excuse to stock pile cats in a dingy old building. This place is a joke. There's a reason there's so many older cats there and that's because she wants all of them for herself.

Adopted my "Egypt" from Angel PAWS almost two years ago. Robin and her volunteers are very kind, caring people, thoroughly checking out prospective cat parents before releasing the animal. They also try to match the needs of the adopter with an appropriate cat. The shelter is very clean, and the cats were obviously well fed and content. Only shelter that I've ever dealt with that actually follows up on their adoptions.

Twenty two years ago I adopted a grayShort hair domestic cat from Angel Paws ( Pet Smart in Woodbridge, NJ).We named him Nicky and he lived with us for twenty one years. He passed away last year of old age. I missed him terribly. The ladies at Angel Paws at that time were wonderful.Right now, we are thinking of adopting another cat. Definitely, we will be contacting Angel Paws. I highly recommend them.

Summary of what you’re about to read: they only test for FELV ONCE before putting cats into general population. My partner and I spotted a cat on petfinder who had spent five entire years without a home. She didn’t like being pet and would shut down at meet and greets. This tugged on our heartstrings and we applied. I heard nothing, so I emailed. Heard nothing further, I called. Heard nothing more, finally messaged on FACEBOOK and was able to secure a phone call where someone told me they were concerned I wouldn’t like the “type of cat” she was, despite putting in numerous places on the application I’d be fine with a cat who was more or less a roommate I saw every once in a while.Drove out of state to meet her, drove out of state again to adopt.A month later I get a call that she “may have” been exposed to FeLV and they were offering free testing on site. I explained that we drove over an hour to adopt her, this cat who went homeless for five years, so I asked if they could otherwise aid us financially. They declined. I spent $500 to have tests run on my current cat and my new cat. She was of course positive with a high viral load.I call the rescue to inform them per their request. My partner and I are devastated of course. The woman told me she understood “but you can’t imagine how bad WE are feeling.” She proceeded to tell me that she had no idea how this happened, because they test all cats before putting them into the general population; a SINGLE snap test. This is dangerous at best and negligent at worst. This cat deserved a HOME and through your neglect and unprofessionalism received a death sentence instead.I told myself I would wait until we lost her to write this review but as I watch her in the final throes of this terrible illness, I did not want to wait any longer.Steer clear. This rescue has cost us so much financially and even moreso emotionally. Peanut Butter does not deserve to die from a fully preventable illness. If anyone from the rescue reads this, you did SO wrong by her and us.

Personally DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS PLACE, honestly I checked the reviews on other websites like yelp and google and let me tell you, it’s wayy different then the reviews here on facebook when I first saw two kitties I wanted first on aspca and petfinder, they take weeks and weeks to get back to you, and I heard some crazy cat lady runs this place, yikes I don’t think my temper can handle it, and the only way i can get in contact with them was through facebook because they have awful communication, and after days and days of waiting they reject my application 😭😭, the person i talked to was a volunteer, it’s so upsetting don’t waste your time, do the research on the place first. We had a great experience adopting two kittens from Angel PAWS. Pat and Robin at the shelter were incredibly friendly and introduced us to a bunch of lovely cats--it was hard to choose because they were all so adorable. And once we chose them, they were willing to continue fostering the cats until they'd been spayed. It was really easy and unbelievably affordable. Highly recommend!!

Angel Paws is absolutely a great resource that is doing a wonderful service for the NJ community by providing care and shelter for cats and matching these beautiful creatures with good owners.

The one on one interaction with the felines are great. So may different cats to choose from. Volunteer ran and they're very informative. Low adoption fees as well

I contacted this agency after my wife and I spotted a special needs kitten on pet finder. We called and the voice mail said that no calls would be returned unless an application was submitted. We submitted the application and waited several days without hearing back. I called again and left a VM this time. I also contacted them on Facebook and received a relatively rude response. After about 4 days, we were called and interviewed, which took about 20 minutes. Several more days passed and we never heard anything back. I sent a follow-up email and received a response that the cat we applied for was going to be taken off of the adoption list because they were uneasy about adopting it out and that they would contact us about adopting another cat. Its been about 6 weeks and never heard back. In the mean time, we rescued a different kitten from a shelter that took our application, interviewed us and adopted out the kitten all on the same day.The reviews I see here are quite horrifying and very similar to our experience. I just don't feel like this rescue is really interested in finding homes for their rescues and too insecure to let them go. For someone who has had cats for almost 40 years, I felt the screening process was very over-the-top and the communication skills of the agency was very lacking.

Too disgusted to even write a review. Just read the rest and know they are all true.

I see that people have had a bad experience with Angel Paws, but that wasnt the case for me. 3 years ago, me and my parents adopted an orange cat named Reese. The process took two days. He is still here with us today and healthy. He is 4 years old. Dont blame Angel Paws for you inconvienences. They are trying there bests to make sure all the kittens and cats have perfect homes to fulfill there lives happily and healthy.

You have to submit applications multiple times apparently for them to finally receive one and then once the application was received we were denied (without any interview or home visit) and refused to tell us why. Our family has always rescued pets and had a full life of love and care. We’ve called many times for an answer and they refused and don’t even try emailing them because they won’t respond.

Not sure I got the right message from the ladies who tended the cats. There were times I felt they over protected the cats from sincere candidates. I felt like I was intruding. There are ways to mend the tight quarters and showcase the cats. Sorry ladies if I've offended you as I do appreciate your hard work in taking care of your brood. But get some books on cat behavior. It will help

There is quite a bit of a screening process, but four years ago I adopted Mishi and Mila from AngelPaws and they are shy but sweethearts.

I didn't try to contact them but from the reviews I would not! Sadly this is why these animals do not get adopted. Why complain that people go to shops and breeders, the reason is because of these adoption agencies! Sad!!
