I am a new homeowner in Cape May County, New Jersey. While doing renovations on my property, a great deal of time and effort was spent before properly planting 14 novice knockout rosebushes May 2022. The land was weeded, tilled and replaced with topsoil. Weed barrier was placed. The plants were purchased and immediately planted, fertilized and then covered with a generous coat of wood chips. My first season was stellar. During the early spring of 2023 I noticed all but one of my knockout rosebushes appeared to be damaged by a machete type blade. Further inspection and consultation revealed that these beautiful bushes had been eaten by voles. I asked innumerable people in the county as to the best way to eradicate this pesky rodent. Thankfully Richard at the middle Township Home Depot referred me to Smeltzers and sons. When he did not have the correct product at his box store within five minutes, I entered Bob Smeltzer store and was greeted and personally cared for, and advised on the proper method of handling these pesky creatures. I left Bob’s store with the product, a free bag of rose fertilizer, and another free bag of rose tone. The hospitality and business acumen I received from Mr. Bob Smeltzer was exemplary. I’ll let Bob know how his products work. How refreshing to see such down home charm and kindness still present in the summer of 2023 USA. Hope springs eternal. Continued success to Bob and his sons.

Bought a bag of feed corn (to make heatable corn bags, not to feed), and it was completely infected with weevils. As soon as I opened the bag, a dozen bugs poured out of it. When I called to let them know, I got a response of "yeah, and?" They did not care. I had to throw out the bag and spray my car and home for bugs. I've been buying feed corn for years, and I've never seen anything like this.I wondered if a weevil infestation was harmful for others buying the corn to use for feed, so I checked with a friend who has a farm. She said that while chickens would eat it, it could be harmful to large animals. She also said it's not her first run-in with Smeltzer's selling her bug-infested supplies. Be very wary of the food you buy here—including that for cats and dogs!

This is a feed store as feed stores are supposed to be. Great selection. Had exactly what I was looking for. Everyone was helpful and friendly. Don't forget to say hi to Stripes, the cat.

What a great place to shop. People are truly wonderful to work with and a selection that would not let you down. Not only do they have a great selection of pet care they also carry lawn care and stone. Neat and well maintained areas are found throughout the shop. I do believe they also carry farm life products as well. You cannot miss going to Smeltzers! Just perfect.

A bit pricey for pet food but they always have what I need, the service is exceptional, and the owner makes you feel like a valued customer, even if you are just buying cat kibble. I noticed that their mulch looks fresh all the time. Those guys work hard and I always appreciate it when Ron puts the bags of salt in my car. Thank you!

Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Wouldn’t go any where else for machine rentals/sales. Prices are always more then fair. Most recently I rented their badger 4’ (6”- 8”hole) post hole auger. It’s on wheels so it’s very easy to use and is a fast way for one guy to punch holes in the ground fast without putting too much stress on your back.

It may look small and disorganized from outside, but they have a great variety of stuff - and if they don't have it they'll order it in. Fast, neat delivery to local area. Very friendly and helpful. Bring your dog!
