Staff is welcoming and very informative. Always a plus to be local instead of using the big chain stores for insects and supplies.

Great experience coming to this store. Employees are knowledgeable and helpful. I saw a comment about smell and rude employees before coming in and didn’t have great expectations
but after coming in and experiencing this place for myself, I can tell you you get exactly what you expect, reptiles EVERYWHERE. Smells like the tropical reptile/frog exhibit at a zoo
not a bad thing if you ask me.will be back!

A couple of weeks ago I went there and got my precious little baby snake, Spaghetti! Everyone was really nice and helpful. They have a lot of snakes and I liked getting to see all the different types. They took time to help me find a snake I liked and answered all of my questions. Over all it was a great experience and I love my little snake! He's a friendly and happy boi!

I haven't yet been to Reptile Roadhouse, however when they had the fish/aquarium place next door my husband & I were there constantly. I'm writing this for the few negative reviews I saw here.Jim's hobby was tropical fish. We LOVED the store & the kind, friendly people who worked there. These people will go above & beyond to help you out.My husband crossed the river about 2 years ago. I passed the fish & tanks on to his family, as i didn't feel I could properly care for 5 tanks on my own. I only kept one small tank with "my" guppies. It was shortly after Jim passed one night the air pump/filter stopped working. He would have known what to do, I didn't. I was freaking out. I raised those guppies from babies. I called one of the employees we had become especially friendly with. This young gentleman came to my home & fixed everything for me, simply out of pure kindness. He had other plans, which I believe he was late for, in order to help me.It's very, very hard to lose your best friend & beloved husband. Having people like this in your life - is a miracle.I can't say enough good things about the owner & employees. Yes, we had a few problems over time but they were resolved satisfactorily. We always tried to support local businesses. These are the same people that owned/worked the fish store. I highly recommend them in any business they operate. They are exemplary human beings & I consider it a blessing to know them. Please remember we are ALL human. Anyone can have a bad day.

Very unique place, great selection of reptiles from common to the unique. Overall everyone was kind and didn't give off a murder vibe. Would recommend.

I was punched in the face with an atrocious, filthy death smell as soon as I walked in the door. I could not hide the look of disgust on my face from the putrid stench. I worked in a pet store when I was younger & my boss would have fired all of us if we had allowed his store to exist in such foul conditions. The varieties of reptiles was cool, but a good majority of enclosures were up so high that, my almost 6', husband couldn't see in. Not that you would want to get too close to those nasty smelling tanks, in dire need of a cleaning months ago. When I went to walk into the "fish" area, once again, I was punched in the face with a nasty smell...old, stale cigarette smoke! As I continued to walk around, I see behind a half open bed sheet hanging in front of another room. Chills went down my spine. It had a bed and such a HUGE creepy-as-hell vibe. Oh, yeah, the two employees ARE rude and arrogant, and they ignore you until you walk up to them and disturb them from them screwing around on their phones.SORRY REPTILE ROADHOUSE! I'm just speaking truth here...and apparently, I'm not the only one who has left a review similar to this one.

Always was looking to stop in, and got the chance last week. Very knowledgeable staff, with a large variety of beautiful aquatic species, lizards, snakes, and tarantulas.

We rescued a bearded dragon from a coworker. I messaged this store asking for advice and help with what I had and if there was anything else I should get and they responded and helped me out. I took the trip to the store over the weekend and was met by two extremely pleasant, helpful employees and a store full of amazing and beautiful reptiles. Everything nice and clean and the reptiles were all happy looking. It’s not the closest store to me, but we will definitely be back!

This is a great place to buy your reptile. They have amazing and well cared for animals. The staff is friendly, very enthusiastic about reptiles and all very knowledgeable. We purchased a crested gecko here who is thriving after a year. They explained all care needs thoroughly, and provided all the necessary gear. We often visit just to see their animals and learn more about them. If you are interested in a pet reptile, you are in great hands here!

A few people on the staff are so rude. The worms are usually all dead or they don't have any. The other day was the final straw. The guy at the counter couldn't be bothered looking up from his phone. Finally asks what I want and mumbles an answer at me like I bothered him. Basically rolled his eyes and huffed when I asked what he had said. Will definitely be driving the extra 30 minutes to NJ exotics from now on.

We bought 3 animals from there and all died. They had parasites. My exotic vet said it was bad. I would trust any of the animals keep in groups because they are probably all infected. There is nothing wrong with the staff all are very friendly.

Luis was VERY helpful. Didn't brush us off as other stores do. He knew his stuff and what was needed for the animals.Update: still go here once a month or more for food. Best place around. Always helpful and staff is very knowledgeable.

I wanted a python, but I needed help to make sure that I got a male so he didn't get too big, and I wanted to take my time. Luis was very helpful and really went out of his way to make sure I had all the information I needed to make a responsible purchase. He took his time and even tried some other feeding methods to make sure the animal was compatible with the rest of my collection. I really appreciate his help and everyone else there.

I was last here on July 24, and I'll retell it from the beginning. My boyfriend and I walked into Reptile Roadhouse, initially to buy a female crested gecko for our male, but we also paroused around to look at their stock. They had lots of things that we haven't seen. They also had food that I had been looking for. But, that's not why I write this review.I write this review because, when we walked in, we were never greeted. Both male employees couldn't have been bothered to greet either of us. So, as we walked around to gaze at their poorly cared for lizards and snakes, I had noticed that the male employees were talking amongst themselves as to when we would leave. Not something customers like hearing. We still walked around because my boyfriend hadnt heard them talking, and I didnt say anything because I'm not one for conflict. After walking around the store for about 20 minutes, I grabbed the food I had wanted and we walked up to the counter. Once there, the male behind the counter was snooty, and didn't really seem to want to help us. He still did, though he huffed. The other male, looked unclean and stared me down, making me feel quite uncomfortable. We had asked if they had female crested geckos, and they said they have juveniles that are female. Now, you can't tell the gender of a crested gecko until after a year. We had mentioned this to the employee, and he refused to speak further about the crested gecko juveniles they had. (I know I read a comment by the owner that they won't sell you a reptile if the employee thinks you can't care for it, but this is not the case. We know what we're talking about.) Then, after asking about female cresties, we asked for crickets. Our male crestie eats three crickets every couple of days, but we don't like to bulk buy because we like to give our crestie variety, as you should when keeping them in a tank. Anyways, I looked over to the still staring, unclean male employee and asked for medium size crickets. Not a difficult task, but he STILL manages to bring me small ones, and the other employee had the audacity to say "We don't really get crickets". Yeah, okay. Tell that to all the crickets spread across 6 tanks, and those were all medium. Not only that, but we requested six crickets, because as I said, we don't like to bulk buy crickets. We were forced to buy 12, but I looked the day after we got them, and only 3 - 4 made it after a night of having them. What a waste of $12. They both stared us down and both of them made me feel very uncomfortable. I wouldn't return to this store, not for crickets or reptiles. The employees might know enough to care for the reptiles they have in stock, but they definitely shouldn't be making decisions on who they can and can't sell to, because the ones we spoke to seemed not to know enough about crested geckos to even continue talking about them to us. Definitely unprofessional and unkind employees. I guess do better next time. Also, lock your car doors and windows. It's dangerous out there compared to where I live. Very sketchy area.Edit: I'm writing it now because my last review of this place wasn't thorough and it was a little rude, so I deleted it, but I'm still very upset at our experience. And I already know I'm in for it as I've read past replies from the owner, and I read part of his/her reply on my now deleted review. ⚰

A couple of weeks ago I came to this store and bought a snake I did not intend on getting. I was planning on getting a corn snake but fell in love with a Black African House Snake who's name came to mind as soon as I got him. My experience here was so amazing, as they let me hold snakes, pet their Rhino Iguana, and let me nerd out over all the cool reptiles I was seeing. The staff was so kind and answered all my questions without hesitation. These people truly are the best of the best.EDIT: The snake's name is Jet, and he is the most curious and adorable thing ever. Whenever I boop his nose he always goes up and boops mine back.

Bought a chameleon from the store and it had a image saying what type it was and what he would look like, I was told by the employee he would look as colorful as the image. He was a 6 month juvenile panther chameleon. The image posted said he was supposed to be very vibrant and orange yellow when in fact he was just green. I had him for 3 years and finally gave him to a reptile friend because ultimately I paid the high price for the amazing color and received a basic green panther. They do have some panthers there that are blue or such as juveniles, I paid 700$ for him when I could have gotten a petco chameleon for 150$. My initial reaction was to have patience, and after a year I was going to complain to the store but I felt as if it would be useless. Be careful when purchasing “exotic” pets because you don’t know if what your buying is really what your getting. Still was a cool pet to have while I did, just wish he was what I was sold. (My purchase was made easily 3 years ago.)

ABSOLUTELY LOVE this place ! I can not be happier with my choice to buy my bearded dragon there! Staff is SUPER knowledgeable, answered ALL of my questions with out hesitation, and down to earth ! No forcing you to buy unnecessary things! Basically no BS! Huge selection of reptiles ! I could go on and on with how great this store and staff are ! I would 1000% recommend this place over any big box pet store!P.s.There was this FANTASTIC ( lady ) associate ( whose name I forgot to get ) who was just amazing!

Cool place but don’t stand behind what they sell. When you’re checking out make sure you don’t leave without a receipt. If you don’t have one and you have an issue with a purchase, they won’t even talk to you about it, no matter how many times they’ve seen your face in their store. And it was four days...not a week. A bulb should not blow out in 4 days. Why would I keep a box for a bulb that I thought would last for a few months?

I haven’t bought anything from there but I always used to go in just to say hi to the friendly staff and look at all the cool animals they had there especially the cat I love that cat socks it’s so cute Definitely deserving the five star rating and I will definitely be buying a reptile from them in the near future. I also liked going in there the one time when they were feeding the snakes that was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen

I love this reptile store. They always have something new. Whenever I see a reptile on Clints reptiles on YouTube and he says the odds of seeing this reptile in person are low. I see that reptile at Reptile Roadhouse. If they don't have what you are looking for they will find it for you. Friendly and helpful staff.

I'm so happy with the leapord gecko I purchased from reptile roadhouse. I left the store with all the equipment and information I needed to take care of my new gecko. They were happy to answer all of my questions and I asked a lot. The workers were so kind one of them even made my son a custom roadhouse sticker. I would highly recommend buying reptiles from this establishment.

UPDATED EDIT AS OF 9/15 to the owners response: I am speaking out of longterm experience of seeing animals in tanks with only paper towels on the bottom no hides no water no substrate week after week for about a year. I want to support a small business I have no reason to voice my opinion other than warning other consumers and genuine concern for living beings. In response to your claims- I have never applied for a job at this business? I am not sure why you are claiming that I did? And in response to the mask claim- again, just voicing that I have witnessed being in the store and really only ever seeing (again consistent visits) employees have them around their chin or not on at all. It is just a health and safety concern for the general public. Your response had a lot of "maybe it was just a bad moment or bad day for the employee" which is extremely valid but I really am only reviewing things I have witnessed happening repeatedly in my frequent visits over the span of about a year. I appreciate your response but an employee not having any reaction and not taking immediate action when told an animal looks dead is unacceptable. The employee could have shown verbal concern, called to another employee to help if they were busy at the moment, anything but just sit there with no response at all like they did. The animal in this situation that I was told was dehydrated was in a tank with nothing besides paper towel at the time. After being a weekly if not more customer for just less than a year, I had to stop shopping from RR. Every time I went it seemed like the care of the animals was less and less, until finally the last time I went I saw a snake that was limp and dead. I told the person behind the register and he had NO reaction, did not go to check on the animal. I told another employee who freaked out and picked up the limp snake, took it to the back and told me it was severely dehydrated. This is after months of seeing snakes in tanks with no water or hides (abusive) and giving the business the benefit of the doubt. I gave two stars since the employees, while not the most friendly, are knowledgable. It saddens me to see animal cruelty at a small local business I want so much to support. Another huge factor in this decision is that the employees seem to refuse to wear face masks at all, from the very beginning of the pandemic there has not been a single masked employee during my frequent visits.

Just bought a Retic 3 days ago and had a great experience. The store is clean with lots of reptiles if you love reptiles come here. Many different cages and tanks to choose from just a great reptile store highly recommended.

While the store itself (while small and cramped) has a great selection, I cannot give higher than 2 stars. More than one employee was not wearing a face mask, and one employee smelled distinctively of weed. I overheard employees using some strong language, and while it doesnt bother me, it is unprofessional. However, most of the animals appeared to be in good condition, and they have a wide array of supplies for your cold-blooded friends. Not worth the trip unless you need something niche a store like Petco won't have.
