Been coming on and off for 20ish years and I'm all about supporting local businesses, but its gone downhill. The eating area is more often than not dirty.- Bagels are just ok.- Adding flavored syrups does not a gourmet coffee bar make, but hey its nice you're trying to mix things up.Last trip we pulled in at 11am and got bagels. I expected them to be kind of stale at this point given the time, and I was not disappointed.I ordered a plain bagel with veggie cream cheese. not toasted.The bagel was stale (as expected) but the cream cheese was soupy. it was nasty. unwrapping it the top slid off from the bottom. I went to take a bite and large soupy glops dripped on my shirt and pants. I was hungry so I took another bite anyway and proceeded to floss with a long hair in it that was not mine. That was it I was done. This was the worst in a series of declining events.I will say no complaints about the staff and service was always quick. I don't want to take away from the workers.

We have been a customer for almost 17 years. Today my husband and daughter picked up 3 breakfast sandwiches and a bagel with cream cheese. This is very disappointing. We have seen changes the past few years(but continued to go because we get it, bad days happen). A few weeks ago we were there for breakfast and there wasn't fresh coffee or even enough for a full cup.

Got a bagel sandwich with egg, cheese and bacon to go. When it was given to me felt cold got to car it wasn't warm, was stale and cheese was coagulated not even melted. Sunday we had a whole order that was very good. I believe the teenage waitress was not happy with tip I left in her box. So today they get only one star for the food and service. And don't believe I'll ever go back in future when visiting family.

I keep giving more chances because it's the only bagel place in town. Orders are often wrong. Last time I asked for mustard and got ketchup instead and today asked for scallion cream cheese and got regular (she even yelled scallion when it was ready) I think I'm done now. It's a shame cause the owners are super nice which is why I gave an extra star. My orders are always complete and fine when the owners are there.

I live in Buffalo NY. Every time I visit my family in Blairstown the Doghouse is a must!! Before I head home I always stop for bagels to take home. During my last trip my Uncle introduced me to the egg, cheese, and taylor ham breakfast sandwich.....amazing! Love the food and the employees are always friendly and helpful!

First time going. Very good. Got an egg and cheese on an egg bagel and some extra things. The lady was super nice, only bad thing is that they only accept cash. They did have am ATM machine but since I have bad experience with that type of atms didn't like it. Would definitely stop by again whenever I have time to get breakfast.

We stopped for my favorite Jersey breakfast.Taylor Ham, Egg & Cheese on Everything Bagel with salt, pepper and ketchup with coffee. Try it!Boar's Head Meats are served.There were at least 5-6 pots with flavored coffees and a full drink bar.It was busy with inside diners and to-go customers on Sunday morning. Stay it is so worth it.Great selection for any meal. Don't forget the Taylor Ham.

Nice, local, family run place. Friendly staff hired locally. Bagels go quick in the morning so grab them early. Decaf is from a syrup, not brewed, but they have a variety of flavoured regular coffees. I brought my cup back to refill and the young lady gave me a discount. I like to reduce environmental impact when possible.

Stopped here while driving to visit family in Morris County for some breakfast. I hadn't eaten anything when I left, so from the road it looked like an alright place to eat, so I went in. Saw nothing but teens inside and assumed my food was not going to be right. Got a coffee and a Taylor Ham Egg and cheese.Came out quick, but it was the worst breakfast sandwich I ever had. Coffee was ok. Was in a rush to see my family so instead of having it remade I bit the bullet and just ate it. At least I enjoyed seeing my family.

Probably the worst Deli I have ever visited. the last time I went there they screwed up my order and double billed me and refused to except the fact that I already paid. Then when I got my order it was completely wrong. Forward 2 years , I thought hmm let’s try them one more time. I called to place an order they picked up the phone and immediately said please hold. As I was holding there was a terrible screeching in my ear Clearly they put the phone down next to some electronic device that makes horrible sounds while you wait. I couldn’t take it and hung up. This deli will stay old and un-updated until the owner retires. Staff running it could care less. Never again will dog house deli ever get a penny from me or anyone I know. Good luck ruining the good name you once had!!!!

First of all, I am not an aficionado of bagels or anything remotely related to things that NJ residents love, like Taylor Ham, but instead, am a friend of someone who has family in the area and recommended stopping in and getting a bagel while in the area to visit NYC. Let me say first that I had a famous NY bagel while in the city and wasn't impressed by all the hype of friends who insisted that the bagels in this part of the country were the best. It tasted similar to the bagels that I purchase at my local market in SC, so color me not impressed. UNTIL we were on our way out of town heading home, and we stopped at the Doghouse to grab a bagel for the trip. My expectations were not very high. But I was unprepared for the goodness that awaited me when I peered into the foil. The bagel was toasted perfectly, warm and crunchy on the outside, the inside soft and chewy with a beautiful flaky texture. The veggie cream cheese loaded with REAL veggies, not the freeze-dried soup mix variety. I couldn't stop exclaiming, "O my God.", It was the best thing I had on my entire trip to NYC and it was in a small town, mom and pop deli-bagel shop in New Jersey. I was very happy to have my original let-down of the bagel hype reversed and oh how I wish I had ordered a dozen of the everything bagels and container of cream cheese. The BEST!

The ladies who work here are the most genuinely friendly I've ever met in my life. The food was very good and very fairly priced and their friendliness made my daughters day. We will definitely become regulars here

Such friendly service. And the french toast bagels 😮🤤...I can't even put to words how amazing they are. Had my first today toasted with a little butter and a tiny schmear or cream cheese and it was heavenly.

Been coming here for 15+ years, the quality of the food and service have always been great. But, in the past few months, the quality of the food has suffered greatly. Pretty much since the absence of the Gladd girls, the quality has been way down. Hope Don realizes that the quality he has kept up for many years has suffered greatly recently.

First the good.....Bagels are Great! Now the not so good....I stopped in to get a bagel on labor day and they were sold out of bagels by 10AM. Well I say 10am because thats the time I stopped in. They could have been sold out sooner. How could a bagel place run out of bagels?I did want to mention that the girl behind the counter was pleasent. I saw some of the other reveiws mention rudness with the people that work there but this was not the case with my two experiences.

Changing for the worse, absent owner on weekends with kids running the place. Dirty and messy the last time I was there. Ordered the Hot pastrami sandwich and I got it ice cold, meaning it was never heated.

Waited for 10 min was never acknowledged. People who called in orders were standing there waiting for a good while. Maybe on weekends they should have more then 2 people working the counter so people can be waited on in a timely fashion. Won’t be back.

Who throws strips of bacon in an omelette and then just folds the eggs over? Lol, they half-a** everything, everytime and then overcharge you for it save yourself some time and money. Go to Dale's or the dinner down the road.

Food was delicious and worth the trip. Prices are decent and you get your money's worth. Only down side is its cash only but they do have. Atm on site. Coffee was wonderful and they offer several flavors of coffee.
