We were fostering to adopt Miley and on November 13th we were able finalize the adoption. Everyone was so nice and we’ve been blessed with a new fur baby now called Autumn. She’s been an absolute sweetheart. Autumn love’s her cuddles and our other cat Winter. She also gets along with our dog Loki. I would Highly recommend Homeward Bound to anyone considering adopting a pet.

I love this place. I really hope more people go here to adopt, volunteer, donate, use their vaccine clinic! Anything to help this place thrive. The people here are nice and informative! The people here are not told enough how much we appreciate them doing the job they do and going in earlier for the clinics on certain days. I went in today at 945, got my dogs vaccine, the lady at the desk gave me pricing on each of the other things I asked about (heart guard and flea and tick) and everyone say hi to my dog, Rio, who I adopted from here a few weeks ago and was out of there by 10:10am.Please consider going here for vaccine needs, they're cheaper, honest and non-pressuring.I hope more people go here!! And give thanks to the staff please!

Love this place. The people who work here tirelessly are incredible. You can tell they really love the animals. We've adopted 3 pets here and we couldn't be happier. Highly suggest you get your Furever friend here!

I had the displeasure of visiting Homeward Bound to adopt a dog, but before I say my experience. Their was a lady with gauges that helped as much as she can. I would like to thank her personally if I could she was sweet and tentative to my needs. Now let me tell you, it was a circus of incompetence. First, let's talk about the two clowns masquerading as staff. Not only did they completely botch the description of the dog I wanted to see, but they also had the audacity to contradict themselves about the dog's temperament. And when I expressed interest in a particular dog, they did everything in their power to steer me away from it. It's as if they were actively trying to sabotage my adoption process. And don't even get me started on their so-called "policy" of only allowing customers to see three dogs on a Saturday. Where is that written? In some imaginary rulebook? When I dared to question their arbitrary policies, they shut me down with flimsy excuses about my apartment situation, which didn’t aligned with their agenda of keeping me away from the dog I actually wanted. They threatened to say that they will check my apartment complex to see if that breed was allowed to stay there. The apartment complex does allow that breed...But what really takes the cake is the fear of questioning their motives due to the cloud of racism accusations hovering over them. I didn't want to risk getting the police called on me just for demanding some transparency. Looking at previous reviews on this place I wouldn’t put it past them.In conclusion, Homeward Bound should rethink their hiring process and train their staff to actually assist customers rather than obstructing them at every turn. These two buffoons deserve a big, fat red star next to their names for their abysmal service. NOT FRIENDLY, like your chart. Avoid this place like the plague if you value your time and sanity. It’s been more than a week and no one has reached out due to the experience I’ve been through from this place. Show how much they care about customers. I wouldn’t put it pass them to mistreat the animals.

We visited Homeward Bound this past weekend with the hopes of adopting a dog that my wife saw on the website. We were greeted by pleasant staff, filled out the relevant paperwork, and in a short time we were able to see "Rum" the dog we traveled close to 2 hours to see. They arranged for us to meet Rum in a play area, and immediately, within the first few minutes, we knew that he was the one.We went through the formalities to adopt him, and within the first few days, he has already cemented his place in our family and home. BTW, he stole my spot on the sofa.I will encourage anyone searching for a pet to visit Homeward Bound and adopt from them. Adopting 1 dog will not change the world but for that 1 dog his world is changed forever.

We went today(9/17/23) because they are so full that they did $1 adoptions! We just brought home our new family member Catalina, Lina for short. It was very busy and loud and hectic but the people working/volunteering were very nice and helpful with the whole process. Don't buy a animal, ADOPT ONE🐕🐩🐈🐈⬛9/18/23- Lina is slowly making herself at home! We are so happy to have this new furry member to our little family

Staff was very friendly and have a good amount of knowledge about the animals they have there. I don't know how they manage all those animals honestly. I know it'd drive me bonkers. They were patient with me, my wife and son. I highly recommend this place to adopt.

The staff is really dedicated and caring. The clinic is very reasonably priced. I donated small supplies, and they let me give treats to the puppers awaiting adoption. I wish I had been ready for a new dog. I'll come back when I am!

If I could give it zero stars I would! I came in with my small children to ask questions on what the next steps would be for a kitten born in our garage(we just wanted to make sure we are properly caring for it) and was met at the door and instantly surrounded by staff! They went to get a manager and he was very unprofessional! Yelled at me, talking to me with his hands and getting in my face all because I had questions! My children said they were scared and were in tears! I was called "you people" and said that he hates when N words try to come there and beat the system! I was not looking to do anything but help the kitten! I am still at lost for words! I was threatened to have the police called on me if I didn't get out and called a bad mother because I had my children with me who were once excited and had to experience this disrespect and racial profiling along side of me! I am at lost for words! I've never felt so low and helpless in my life and everyone just surrounded us and said nothing until I was able to gather myself, kids and my belongings to leave! I am not a bad person because I am black! I will never forget this and I just pray that my kids will someday !!!

My family and I were ready to add a new member to our family, so we decided to go to Homeward Bound and see the dogs that were available. They had a bunch to choose from. We fell in love with Jamie, a brindle pit/terrier mix, and she's now been with us for almost a month now. Homeward Bound made it an easy adoption process, were informative on Jamie and provided surgery to have Jamie neutered. I highly recommend anyone to go and check out the many animals at Homeward Bound if you're looking to adopt or even foster an animal.

The adoption process was ok! We love our new baby but this review is for the CLINIC. TERRIBLE! Fast forward I got a call for my kitten’s neutering appointment. Up to the day before my date I had to reschedule because of a family issue. Called NUMEROUS times left messages and emailed a few times NOTHING. The day of the appointment didn’t hear anything so I kept calling NO ANSWER NO CALL BACK. I got a call back a FEW days later about my missed appointment. I explained I called, left messages, emails etc. I was then threatened if I missed my next appointment I would lose my deposit OK fast forward. I scheduled the new appointment. The DAY of this appointment TODAY I’m on my way. I notice I’m running behind so I called and called and called and left a message saying I’m on my way just got caught in traffic. I am 1.5 hours away so getting there was rough. Got there and was turned away. Now if someone answered the phone they would have either told me SORRY can’t do or OK we are waiting. I took a day off work, 3 hours in transportation and lost my deposit. The lady/ladies at the front desk was rude and dismissive. If you plan to adopt from here GREAT but let it end there. If you need a neutered/spray pay and go else where unless of course you live close to the facility because I think this was a ploy to keep my deposit. Wouldn’t recommend the clinic at all

Awesome place. Always very professional staff. We fostered our German Shepherd (April) for 2 months before adopting, and she was always happy to go there and visit for her vet appointments. That tells me a lot, right there. Thank You for trusting us with a beautiful soul. April is a happy, happy girl.

Adopted our beautiful orange baby Hestia (was Orange Jubilee... kinda clear why a renaming was in order there) about 2 weeks ago as a friend for our other kitty. It only took about 2 days for her to settle in becoming the biggest snuggler and making herself at home (the shelter told us it could take a few weeks for her to open up). She loves our other cat and wants to cuddle constantly. The people at the shelter were very helpful and clearly care about the animals there and finding them good homes. They were very polite and friendly the whole time we were there. I would recommend this shelter for anyone looking to adopt.

They had very nice volunteers but also at least two overtly racist ones. We were in there less than 7 minutes trying to see if we could find a cat. I’m Asian and my husband is Caucasian. They immediately tried to deny letting me inside until they realized I was with my husband. Then repeatedly asked him to confirm I was with him when we were already inside. Also, they would snatch away any cat I tried to pet. And finally a lady asked very rudely if I was “going to adopt or I need to leave.” I didn’t even get the chance to view all the cats! I’ve lived in TN for over ten years and have never experienced such blatant racism. Truly shameful to see this ghastly ignorant behavior representing an animal adoption center. Wow.

I brought my male cat here to get neutered, he was there from 9-330 and when I first picked him up his pain meds were still kicked in so he was acting like himself. They gave me 0 verbal instructions on what to do for him and the instructions sheet they gave had only a few things on it. They never told me I couldn't use kitty litter until his wound was healed so the kitty litter got in his wound, made him very very sick and then the infection spread to his sinuses . His eye was leaking blood and I had to take him to an emergency vet qnd spend another $400 on medication for him, when it could of been avoided if I received proper instructions and info. They knew he is my first cat. I do not recommend this place for any animal!!!!

If there was a 0 star that’s what these mfers would get. I missed the phone call the day before the surgery mind you they called me 15 minutes before they closed so when I went to call back no one could. So the surgery day came I called and called all day literally every half hour left a message every single time no answer till this day.Never adopted from here but animals need love so why not adopt from here but there clinic is terrible idk who they have working the desk there but I’m sure whoever it is really could care less about their job! I’m taking this as a sign not to take my pet there.

During COVID’s peak, my fiancé and I were seeking a dog. We moved into a large apartment with a dog park for this reason, and were sad to see this shelter wouldn’t give us a dog for an unknown reason (I suspect the yard). We tried getting a kitten (as a buddy for our cat) and we were surprised by how easy it was to find one that would fit our family!2 months ago we fostered to adopt a little kitten. The last 2 months have been great- and our first cat is thrilled to have a little buddy! Although frustrating at first, our experience with Homeward Bound has been great, and flexible. Thanks for helping us to complete our little family!

This place is absolutely terrible! The entire place was a mess, it smelt like cat piss in the cat area, and the staff were terrible!! There was a kitten there, Fantastique, and the poor thing was shaking and looked sick and have NO WATER NO FOOD AND NO LITTER BOX in her cage!! The poor thing looked so sick. When I asked about the kitten no one knew if it was a male or female and if it had any diseases or not. I went to the front desk to talk to the workers about the kitten some more and was told that they had “too much paperwork to fill out”. Mind you it was 3pm. They told me I had to come back at 11am on TUESDAY to fill out an application! Their website said I could fill out paperwork, adopt, and leave with a buddy the day of but NO. This place was disgusting, the staff were very rude and uneducated on their cats and dogs, and I will NOT be going back. What a waste of a day. Do not support this place.

NEVER take your dog there if your dog is matted or is need of grooming. We took our dog to get shots (in order to get groomed!) and they reported us to animal control. They refused to issue the shots, but proceeded to file a report. So basically, they refused to help and proceeded to hinder the process.

I was just denied a refill of the heartworm prevention meds even though my dog has a perfectly good prescription from them because they said that my dog has to come there and be reweighed. Which is absurd. His weight has not changed from when he was there a few months ago. The clinic waiting room is super small and super crowded with no where to sit OR stand. Lots of large dogs barking at each other and lunging towards each other like they want to fight. It really doesn't feel safe to bring my small dog in that kind of environment. There is no reason why I should be denied meds when I have an active prescription. Ridiculous!! I had to go back and then they had me waiting 2 full hours with my dog shaking from anxiety the entire time only to be told his weight was exactly the same as it was before 19 pounds.

I LOVE the pets we got from here. They NEVER EVER answer their phone, though. And 3 of them died young, we're from out of state and we are used to them living until their late teens. One of them already had cancer when he was adopted. Heartbreaking is all I can say

Went to adopt a new member of the Family. The people were friendly and helpful. They care so much about the animals there and want to pair you with your perfect addition to your Family. I found mine!

I want to preface I NEVER write reviews. At first, everything was fine we were shown to the cat room and the staff in there were very nice. We found Pixie and were immediately drawn to him. Needless to say it was a very quick adoption, we went home, grabbed our carrier and headed back. The girl at the front desk did not disclose until we were about to sign the papers that he had ringworm and was cleared a month ago but to “wash your hands frequently just in case, if you don’t develop symptoms in two months then the ringworm is gone”. First of all, what? How is that okay to say? Then, as we already signed the papers she handed us medication (one of which we requested, the other one not). She said the antibiotic was to “wash his system out”. Interesting strategy I guess. It wasn’t until I looked at Pixies medical papers did I notice he had active URI (Upper Respiratory Infection) and was already actively taking the antibiotic for 7 days prior. This was not disclosed in anyway shape or form, she simply just tried to get us out because they were busy. Now, we are quarantining our cat away from the newly adopted sick one in hopes that it (URI and ringworm) doesn’t spread. I did not catch the workers name but she did have glasses and braces. Please do better, this was pretty unacceptable all around. I would recommend other shelters such as Voorhees Animal Orphanage or the AWA both located in Voorhees.

Got my first cat ever from here! She was extremely sick. The vet showed me how to care for her and give meds and now she is the healthiest, sweetest, most beautiful little girl.

Couldn’t be more unhappy and broken-hearted after I left this place. From the moment I walked in I was met with attitude by one of the secretaries. No big deal, we have off days and they were super busy so I can understand being stressed. We were told to go into the cat adoption room, looked at some cats, and I fell in love with a big guy who was the sweetest thing I’d ever met. Even my mom fell in love the moment she met him. We filled out the form quickly and I proceeded to wait for a whole hour. When I was called, the woman at the front desk snapped that she couldn’t read my handwriting and seemed like I was crazy for writing down the name I did, like it didn’t exist. I waited 15 more minutes, only to finally be told that I couldn’t take him home because my current cat was unspayed (due to health issues, the surgery wasn’t possible). It seems like common sense in retrospect, and I had my questions about it, but no one ever sat down with me so I could ask about it. I’ve never adopted before (my current cat was born in my yard years ago) and I’m extremely discouraged. Never coming here again. If the staff weren’t rude, they were clueless.I’m sorry I couldn’t take you home Leonidas. :-(
