What a wonderful place with fantastic and caring people! We recently purchased a baby High Red Pineapple Green Cheek Conure which is still being hand-fed before it can be taken home in about 2 months. Victor, Nick, Julia and Ursula are such caring and knowledgeable animal lovers and it’s been a true pleasure visiting with our baby bird and at the same time being able to ask as many questions about the bird and what to do and expect once we bring our baby home. THANK YOU GARDEN STATE PET CENTER! So happy we found you!

THE BEST SMALL BUSINESS PET STORE AROUND! They have a wide variety of healthy foods/treats and accessories for your pets! Products that you can not purchase at just any local pet store. The care and consideration that all of the staff put into the animals is exceptional to ensure they’re healthy and well taken care of. Their customer service is excellent! They always have great sales for your pets needs and fun events often! You also receive so much knowledge around the care of each animal if you were to purchase! I couldn’t recommend this place more!! If I could give it more than 5 stars I would!

Garden State Pet Center is a one of a kind fur baby store! They have anything and everything you can think of that is actually GOOD for your beloved pets! Plus it’s a fun visit to meet all the wonderful animals they have that are looking for new homes! Highly recommend! Support local small family businesses!

The baby birds that are on formula feedings are not kept warm as they should be for their age. Cages were dirty, a rose breasted baby cockatoo ( a 5k bird) is sitting in an empty fish tank with no bedding ,with itself tucked into a corner to retain its own heat,in its own wet droppings. The hook rings for the hanging toys in the parrots cages are all not screwed closed, if they knew any better , they would know parrots can get hung from the bottom of the beak. Used dirty hand feeding syringes left out in the store area. They definitely need new management here. It's a mess, and I worry about these birds and animals.Ok, here's my edit. There are other poor reviews indicating EXACTLY what I said in my review. Yes I had a store years ago, and I was happy to find out this store was open. I called first to see what foods you had. I expressed how excited I was to go to a store that was local to the person who answered the phone. I even told that person I used to have a store. Also,it didn't fail. This must be the former owner of the Blackwood store,whom which she felt I was her competitor. I was excited when I pulled up. Then horrified when I went in. If the baby had a heating pad, that's appropriate heat, but it should not be on glass. It should not be WET from its droppings. You've always been the nasty one. We all know this. I'm sorry you don't care to hear the truth. You bash anyone, and everyone, you always have. Look inward. And when you're done doing that, clean up your store. FOR THE BIRDS sake.2nd edit. Lol. I did buy food. ( it's over priced by the way, parakeet food, is priced the same per lb as parrot food, so if you have smaller birds, you are being charged the same as parrot blends,ok)..I called, didn't even know there was a store local. I was excited, lol. This is crazy. Lol. I'm literally telling what I saw. I'm sorry you can not handle the truth about real observations, as other people on here have also seen at your store. The only person obviously here that's miserable is you. You lash out out at ANY negative review. Not just me. Completely unprofessional. Much like your facility. It's simple really, just clean up your store, teach your employees about baby bird care, go over safety protocol. Life's to short to be this petty 😊 have a good day.

I was driving home with my son at night when he told me he needed food for his rabbit. It had been a long day, we were only 2 miles from home and the complete opposite direction of any of the usual places we get rabbit food when I remembered this little pet shop we had never been to before and pulled in. My son and I went in and were glad we did. The staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable and they had a great selection. We took a look around the rest of the store and were surprised at the selection of pets they had for a small independent pet store. They had ferrets, chinchillas, an impressive assortment of lizards and snakes and an even more impressive selection of birds. We will definitely be going back.

My son and I stopped in here tonight to look for a small pet for my youngest sons birthday. They had an array of birds, small animals like bunnies and chinchillas, and different reptiles like bearded dragons and crested geckos. The staff and owner were very friendly and SUPER knowledgeable about their animals. Definitely should check this place out.

I had been going to another place to groom my bird for over 10 years, they recently closed and it took me a month to find someone I trusted with my bird, I googled and found Garden State, its a little far for me to go but once I got there and found out employees that have been at the other place were now there I knew this was my new place to take Lorenzo. The people are so friendly, very helpful and they have a lot of items to select from. I’ve Even found food and other treats for my dog. Highly recommend

Always the best experience when we come to get something for our African Grey. Everyone is super helpful, extra kind, and welcoming and they always have what we need, or an answer to what we're looking for. Also, the variety is outstanding. There's nothing like it. Highly recommend.

Garden state pet center is the absolute best! I am so happy to have a local pet business in the area that actually CARES!!!! I was driving over 30 minutes to get my dog’s food since it is only carried by a limited amount of stores but now I can get it only 5 minutes away! I love that everything in their store are products that they stand by! Every time I go into the store it is always a pleasant experience. Victor and his staff are so pleasant and knowledgable. They always have the best recommendations and suggestions without being overly pushy (like a lot of those big stores) and truly have knowledge of the products on their shelves. I love that I can trust and truly consider their opinions when it comes to my pets because they truly do care and value their customers. I also love to come in to talk to the birds. My girlfriend has been wanting a bird for years but we decided it is best to wait until we buy a house. When the time does come to purchase a bird you can bet I will be purchasing from Victor! Thank you Victor for bringing such an amazing store and services to our area!

This is the best pet store i have ever been to! I saw a listing on morph market for a day gecko and sent a message. I got a response almost immediately, my questions were all answered in less than 10 minutes, and we were able to pick up the gecko in about 30 minutes of conversation.The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable, and the owner is spectacular! In addition, they have great prices and very healthy animals. All of their reptiles are kept in spacious bioactives. My new gecko is super healthy and eats like a champ. If this store wasn’t an hour away, i would go here daily! Highly recommended for any animal enthusiast!

Had to write a review. The regular place I had been taking my 2 ties to closed ,so I was very happy this place opened up close to my house. I was even happy to see 2 employees working there that my birds knew. Great place, good selection, nice owner and a cute dog Yeti greeted me.

So the place is great! The store is new so if you haven’t visited yet, I recommend you do so! The staff are fantastic and knowledgeable of the animals on site. They make your visit personal and one of a kind. They currently specialize in exotic birds, with a small area for small animals, and some aquatic/amphibians onsite. Place isn’t huge but they utilize the space well. Prices are great and I return time after time to continue to support local small business! Thanks for the two english budgies! See you soon!

I got a baby cockatiel less than a week ago, and she (actually no idea of the gender) is already totally hand tamed and so sweet, loves to sit on my shoulder and is beginning to chirp. I never imagined that she'd be out of her cage hanging out so quickly. I imagine she misses all of the sounds of the store - there are so many birds playing in there. But I'm just really impressed by how used to people she is, and I'm excited for her to get better at flying and climbing. The store is great, everyone is super helpful and nice, and there are a ton of good toys for sale.update: pics... she likes music.

Garden state pet center is one like no other I’ve been to. I’ve recently purchased a bearded dragon and the staff is so knowledgeable of their animals. Everything is well kept and clean. I highly recommend you give them a try for all your animal needs. Feel free to ask questions because they really know their products inside and out. Plus made a fun experience for my daughter.

Went in today after passing by it for a few months. Very happy I did. Staff were super friendly even introducing me to a few animals that were on location and the store is chock full of food, treats, toys, and equipment for all types of pets. Staff were openly playing with and talking to the animals on location in an endearing and caring manner which is certainly a positive to see. Def going back highly recommend.

It’s the absolute best place you could ever go to for your animals. It’s run by true animal lovers who genuinely care about the health and wellbeing of our babies. They will open your eyes to holistic and natural remedies and foods galore that will not only change your baby’s overall well-being, but give you a sense of peace knowing your animal is eating as clean and serene as can be Id leave a constellation of stars if it were possible. Could not recommend enough.

Watch out!!!!!!!Conveniently go to Petsmart 5 minutes down the street. I walk into the store with my dog and immediately three of the OWNERS dogs run up to me and my dog and one of his dogs attack my dog. Don’t give this place any business Petsmart is five minutes down the road highly suggest just do not go there.

My nephew and his girlfriend told me about this store. They couldn't wait to bring me there. I have to say, I was impressed. I have never met nicer, more knowledgeable group of employees. I asked them about an issue my dog was having, and Victor, one of the owners, knew right away what the problem was. He told us what to do, and my dog is doing much better. Everyone there is friendly and eager to answer your questions or educate you on the animals. My fiance will definitely be repeat customers like my nephew and his girlfriend.

Everyone is phenomenal here! I purchase all food for my cat, and added a snake (Daphne) to the family from garden state pet center. The entire staff is knowledgeable and helpful, the products are of excellent quality, and the animals are obviously well cared for and in great health. So grateful to have them in the neighborhood!

Such an awesome pet store! I boarded my two lizards with them for a week! It was about 150$ in total which is affordable in my eyes! Especially since they board small animals! It was a small local pet store and their selection of animals was awesome! I’ll definitely be coming back! They took great care of my animals and even let me hold their boa!

My husband found this store online. We were in search of boarding for our parrots and chinchilla at the end of August. They were so helpful and accommodating. It’s so nice to see a local store with parrots, toys, and supplies…and supplies for our chinchilla, too. We will definitely be going back very soon for parrot grooming, food, and toys. Thank you for the amazing customer service!

This pet store is a must! The employees are very welcoming and kind and will help you out through every step of the way. They have such nice exotic animals that you never heard or seen before. The food options for each and every pet of yours is also a GREAT and awesome variety. There’s foods here that are so nutritional for your pet, you will not find them in a basic pet store. So if you want to visit to try something new or see some new exotic pet, this is the place!!
