HUGE thank you to Matchdog- they really made my doggy dream come true today! I can tell everyone who works there genuinely loves animals and cares about the homes they put them in. The application process is thorough but fair and they take really great care of the pups. They were communicative and so professional. I finally got to take Randy home today and he was definitely loved in his foster home- he’s so young but well adjusted and clearly cared for. He’s my perfect match. Volunteers were kind and efficient for the event today and really made it the joyful experience it should be! I appreciate you all.

My family and I had an amazing experience finding our first dog at Matchdog rescue. I was able to connect with a match maker on the phone to discuss options for dogs that would meet our preferences. On the day of our meet, it was very organized! Everyone was so knowledgeable and helpful throughout the adoption process. Our sweet pup was a two year old Chihuahua mix who had been surrendered with her 4 puppies. Her sweet disposition won us over immediately. Her name was Chicago, but we call her Chi Chi. We've had her two weeks and we're so in love with her. She loves to snuggle and play in the yard. She was house trained and appears to be great on the leash as well. We highly recommend Matchdog Rescue. Thank you for saving our sweet girl and her pups.

We had a wonderful experience adopting Sibley (now known as Kona)! We adopted her on transport day Feb 10th and the process was very smooth. They gave us a time to come for the meet and greet and we were told ahead of time they sometimes run behind schedule. (due to so many dogs meeting their new parents and preparing to go to their furever homes) They really are a well oiled machine preparing these dogs on transport day with different stations they have to go through. We only waited about an hour before they brought our pup to us. Overall it was a great experience and we would absolutely use this rescue again in the future. We love our baby and she fit right into our family! She especially loves her new brother and will go anywhere he is! :)

After searching for months for a second rescue dog to accompany my older rescue dog Pepe, Match Dog came through with our marvelous Gigi!  Other organizations did not respond to my emails or even to my submissions of lengthy applications but Match Dog did.  They are thorough, caring, organized, and most of all honest.  They were up front about my dog having been treated for heart worm.  Also, all the information about her was correct and true and so she has been a perfect match for Pepe and for our family since Jan 2024.

My family and I adopted our sweet puppy almost 5 months ago and the process was amazing! I found a puppy on their site who matched our family preferences, so I put an application in. I did not expect too much because I thought puppies went fast. They called me same day, vetted us and we met and adopted our little girl the very next day. The volunteers are truly amazing and I am so grateful for all that they do. Our Sunny is too!

We found Matchdog on Petfinder while searching for our next furbaby. We were accepted as match for our pup. When we got to the landing pad, our pup had gotten sick during the transport so they offered us to look at a few of the other dogs they had... and our new pup found us during this process! We rescued Jagger (FKA Pinto) and we just adore her. Matchdog made the adoption so easy and the staff were amazing. The process took some time but we're so happy for them. Our little girl is the best pup ever! Thank you Matchdog!

We had an awesome experience with MatchDog. They take matching a pet to their forever family extremely seriously, and we take our pets seriously, so it was a great fit for us. If you are intent on finding a dog that fits your life & family, this is the place for you! I can say for certain that any dog they’re matching here is matched with absolute intention & is coming from a foster family who cares deeply. They are not letting just anyone pick just any dog, and that’s very important for the safety and wellbeing of the dogs.We applied for a puppy shortly after he and his siblings were posted, attended the adoption event where he would be present and evaluated his little personality to make sure he would be a good fit in our home & with our other pets. We initially felt like we could be interested in any one of 4 littermates from his litter, but decided to narrow that down to just him and his sister as our 2 choices.This wasn’t necessarily an advised ‘strategy’ because it would decrease our chances at getting a dog. But, we felt like MatchDog staff/volunteers understood what we meant when we said we weren’t there to just get any dog, we were picking a dog that had the personality that would fit our family. If we didn’t match with him that day we would be happy to be considered for another pup who fit our family better. The process was a lot, but I honestly wouldn’t want it any other way. We spent almost 3 hrs at the initial adoption event and didn’t leave with a puppy because interest was high and they needed to evaluate all apps. We went through tons of discussion with volunteers and we left feeling confident that these puppies would be going to homes that would really be great fits for them, even if one wasn’t going to be ‘ours’.To our surprise & delight, we got a call that night letting us know we were matched with the little guy we felt most connected to! Heath came home a week later and has been doing great with the transition! We couldn’t be more grateful for the process or for an organization who takes connecting dogs with their people so seriously. We appreciate all the work you all do and are really glad to be the beneficiaries of your hard work.

This is the best place to get a dog or puppy! They have adoption events every weekend. All types of breeds. They are truly about finding good homes for these dogs and it isn't about the $ like most places are. All the dogs and puppies live in foster homes. Can you tell, I can't say enough, LOL. Truly wonderful!

We adopted via MatchDog last week. There are a few steps involved in adoption through this rescue and it is important to read their information and understand the process. They explained everything really well and we couldn't be happier with our new addition. There is a process and you have to be a little flexible, but it is definitely worth it! We are super happy we adopted through MatchDog and feel like they really care and support the animals and adopters. It is definitely a huge undertaking and requires a lot of work on the behalf of the rescue; you can tell everyone really believes in the rescue and their work and all they do was noticed and appreciated!

Everyone that I encountered at MatchDog was great. Transport days and adoptions are very well organized. The people were friendly. We are so happy with our new addition. I wish the website told you a little more about the pups. Like if they are great with kids of all ages or only certain ages. I'd definitely use them again.

We adopted the sweetest dog from MatchDog this past Saturday and it was the most amazing experience from beginning to end! We filled out an application for a sweet poodle mix. The phone interview was easy and fun. Once we were approved, we just couldn’t wait until our girl was brought to their Atco location for adoption! It was such an organized and pleasant process! And when they delivered our sweet little Dog out to us, our hearts melted! We’ve named her Olive, and she’s been with us now for four days and she fit right in! She truly is a perfect fit! We HIGHLY recommend MatchDog if you want to give a homeless pup their forever home. We are SO glad we did!!

Our experience using Match Dog Rescue was wonderful. The adoption process was smooth and organized. The personnel helping with the adoption were knowledgeable, courteous, and very nice. We adopted our dog from matchdog and got lucky compared to some of the peopleI spoke to who unknowingly got sick or injured dogs.Our dog ran away about a week after we brought her home. She somehow escaped from our fenced in yard. I contacted the rescue because she still had their tag on her collar and I was SHAMED by the owner. She said it was my fault our dog ran away and she probably wouldn’t come home and she made me feel bad for not already having a new tag on her collar. We already felt terrible, it was February and we walked around for hours looking for her. Luckily she came home around 3am and we love her so much but we would NEVER deal with this rescue again.

I normally don't do reviews but I can't say enough about match dog from day one it has been a good experience every one I have talked to have very been very helpful the dog we adopted Brie is a perfect little angel well behaved great with our cats I do believe this is because match dog fosters thier dogs were they get used to being with other animals instead of keeping them in cages by them self we choose to use our vet to get her spayed and they reimbursed use the day after I filled out there form

BEWARE!!! My family adopted a dog from MatchDog Rescue in Atco NJ on 9/30/23. We found out shortly after bringing him home, that he had issues with aggressively protecting his food and toys. Over the next few months, everyone in the household (including my 9-year-old daughter) had been bit (breaking skin) by him. He also bit family and friends when visiting our home and bit (most recently) the trainer we hired to see if this aggression could be helped with training. The trainer suggested reaching out to the rescue (MatchDog) to see if he could be re-homed to someone without children. We reached out via email and started the conversation about whether or not he would be adoptable. They asked me to bring him to their next adoption event on 1/21/24 to be assessed. At the end of the event, they asked permission to foster him for a week to further assess him because he was not “great” at the event. I asked if at the end of the week, would we get him back as the foster family or would he stay with the foster that was taking him to see if he was adoptable. They weren’t sure. I explained that whatever happens my daughter would need to say a proper goodbye because it was never the plan for me to return home without him that day (as Matchdog was adamant that they were not yet committed to helping us re-home him). We reached out in the middle of the week and they updated us that he was doing “really well” and wanted to try bringing him to the next adoption event that Saturday. On Saturday, while the event was in progress, we asked how it was going and if we needed to come pick him up when the event finished. They did not respond. We called awhile later and they informed us that he was being adopted. We said we were coming to say goodbye and they advised against it. Full transparency, I became very angry because they were denying access to our dog (no surrender paperwork had been submitted yet). We were yelled at being told “we should have said goodbye already“ and that the dog was surrendered to them. We tried to explain that he was not, and were told that if we showed up to the event, they would call the police. About 10 minutes later, they texted us and asked us to fill out and submit the surrender paperwork. We responded letting them know that the lack of communication regarding this process was the reason for our frustration, as we knew no paperwork was filled out and that technically he was still our dog. We did the responsible thing for him (as we were told the adopting family or individual didn’t have kids) and filled out and submitted the paperwork. We are shocked and upset how this all transpired. They never had paperwork and never communicated that he was deemed adoptable until they told us he had been adopted. We did not say goodbye to a dog who had become family to us. It was heartbreaking to have to give him up and the rescue was not empathetic at all. We never thought we should have looked up reviews on an animal rescue beforehand; but now we know better after seeing all the negative experiences others have also had with this rescue. We hope that in the future, Matchdog improves their communication and does not resort to threatening and yelling at a family who is grieving the loss of a dog whom they loved dearly but unfortunately could not keep.

I applied and reached out the day of a puppy being posted. I then followed up multiple times about the puppy and I didn’t receive a single response after 2 weeks. We really wanted to bring home two brothers and it’s upsetting that we didn’t get any response and then we see the puppy was adopted. Won’t be giving these folks my business anymore. At least have the decency to communicate with customers what’s going on so we don’t have our hopes up just to be let down

This organization focuses on a proper match between your family & the pup, focusing on the pup’s needs, as it should be. They pull these dogs out of high kill shelters, vet them, transport them safely across the country, and match them with families who suit THEIR needs. These are volunteers, not paid employees, who run this organization…so yes, that is a massive task! Highly recommend Match Dog Rescue!
