Adopted Hank (formerly Henry) from Cathy at Hearts and Tails 6 weeks ago, and we are so happy we did.Found his profile on PetFinder, submitted application that day, Cathy responded later that night, checked with our Vet and references immediately, scheduled our visit, and boom, we had Hank that weekend with us at home.Cathy clearly cares for the well-being of the animals in her care, and she is very happy to see them placed in the right homes. He was fully vetted, and groomed when we got him. And Cathy was fantastic with all the post adoption communication. We are happy to have out little boy with us, he makes our family complete again after our 15 year old schnauzer passed this March. We are Hank's 3rd home, and clearly the right place for him at last. Cathy did a great job placing him!Thank you Cathy! Hank says HI!

Hearts & Tails is amazing. The experience we had was smooth and organized. Cathy was great with communication back and forth. Our mini goldendoodle Dexter gets along so well with his new sister Paige. Would highly recommend it if anyone is looking to adopt.

Hearts and Tails Animal Alliance made adoption of our dear rescue dog so easy and pleasant. Cathy communicated plainly and honestly about her organization and what they do to help dogs in need of help. The adoption of an animal can be an overwhelming experience: from the shopping for dogs online, visiting shelters, meeting new animals and caregivers. It really comes down to communication and connection. I feel that Hearts and Tails provides care for their rescue animals and also compassionate for people wanting to bring an animal into their families.

My husband and I highly recommend Hearts and Tails Animal Alliance. Cathy was extremely helpful, understanding and kind to us as went through the adoption process. If you are looking for a new canine family member, this is an excellent place to look! We are thrilled to welcome our new buddy, Raleigh into our home.

We found Hearts and Tails Animal Alliance when looking for a new dog to adopt on PetFinder. After putting in an application, we heard back from Cathy in less than a week and got to see the dog the next. In talking with Cathy and seeing her interact with the 2 dogs she had at the time, her love for the dogs and the rescue's mission was obvious. We were lucky enough to be chosen as Maisy's forever home, and we are just thrilled. She fits in with our other dogs and our lifestyle perfectly. She is so well behaved and seems very happy and healthy. Dealing with the rescue was very easy - paperwork and requirements for adoption were clear and responses were timely.

We had been looking for a rescue for a couple of months and we are so glad we found Bella at Hearts and Tails. Cathy was so helpful and kind throughout the process. You can tell she has a passion for animals and they are well taken care of! We love our Bella and when we are looking for another addition to our family we will be sure to go to Hearts and Tails!

We searched for the right dog for our family and Cathy helped us find the right one for us. We love our pup and thanks to Hearts and Tails she was taken from a kill shelter and now lives to give us love and kisses all day! Thanks for helping us make that happen!

We were fortunate enough to adopt Marcus several years ago. He was rescued by Cathy from the streets of Puerto Rico. She is an amazing person who's passion for rescuing dogs is palpable. When I found a stray on the streets a year or so ago, she took him in overnight so that he didn't have to be admitted to our town's pound. She was able to locate the owner and help reunite the dog with his rightful owner. Several months ago we decided it was time to give Marcus a sibling. She helped me find the perfect brother for him and now we have two wonderful animals thanks to Cathy and Hearts and Tails.

Hearts and Tails is a wonderful rescue that helps to find homes for the stray pups in Puerto Rico, and other places as well. They pull dogs from overcrowded kill shelters whenever possible to save their lives. Cathy is very caring, and takes time to find the best matches for the dogs she saves. Thank you for all you do.

We were introduced to Hearts and Tails several years ago when looking for a dog to rescue. Cathy is amazing to work with and made the adoption process easy. We ended up with the best dog in the world and still remain connected to Hearts and Tails to this day.

Hearts and Tails Animal Alliance is a wonderful and caring organization doing great work to save dogs. We have adopted three other dogs in our lives from other rescue organizations, and this process was thorough, efficient, and warm. Cathy kept us informed of the status of our application as well as the medical care that was needed. We feel very fortunate to have met Cathy, and the new member of our family is a true gem. I would highly recommend supporting Hearts and Tails Animal Alliance. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

My husband and I went to Hearts & Tails Animal Alliance to meet Sadie Mae. She was beautiful in pictures, but much more beautiful in person! We instantly felt a connection to her.🐾🐾 Cathy made sure we were the right fit for Sadie Mae while making the adoption process professional and smooth for us.Cathy is definitely a professional and made sure we had a goodie bag of essentials that we need to get started. She also gave us the history of Sadie Mae. This helped us a great deal in giving her exactly what she needs. We would highly recommend Hearts & Tails if you are planning on adopting or fostering a dog. They certainly are mans best friend.Richard & Maureen RockwellStandish, Maine

I’ve adopted 2 dogs from this rescue and fostered many more. Their priority is the safety and well being of the animals in their care. As a certified dog behavior consultant and trainer, and an evaluator that has worked with many rescues, Hearts and Tails has always impressed me with their commitment to advocate for dogs. Thank you for Bowie and Winnie!

We adopted our Lucy from Christina Shay a little over a week ago and couldn’t be happier with our experience with Lucy’s foster Mom. Christina took the time to properly introduce Lucy to me and my 2 kids and worked with us, teaching us all her pro tips and tricks on how to raise a puppy. She explained all the Hearts and Tails regulations and expectations of adopting families. I was so impressed to hear of how many successful adoptions Christina has facilitated. It’s heart warming really! I’d like to thank Christina for all her hard work and dedication to all these foster pups as well as Hearts and Tails for bringing Lucy home to us!

We found Hearts and Tails by searching for a rescue pup on Petfinder, like many people do. We were matched with Mia and she is PERFECT in every way. Cathy clearly loves these dogs so much and puts great care into finding a good match. We were also impressed by how professional Cathy was. We got vet records, micro-chip registration, and were squared away on preventatives for the rest of the month, which gives us some breathing room to schedule a vet appointment. This is a high quality rescue. This will be our first choice if we are ever looking for a second dog. Highly recommend. So happy!

I had a wonderful experience adopting from Hearts and Tails! Given that it was my first time, I had a lot of questions and Cathy was super communicative and willing to share her knowledge and wisdom with me right from the get-go. It felt to me that she was really motivated to help make a good "match" between me and a potential pup companion, and now that I've brought Charlie home I can say her efforts were a success!

I responded to a post asking desperately for a foster home to take a dog who had been in the shelter for a month and was beginning to show signs of stress and shutting down. Christina jumped through hoops to meet me in Boston (on her way back from picking up another puppy coming in from Puerto Rico) and see if me and my dog would be a good fit for a foster home. She was so kind a loving towards my dog, the foster pup and the brand new puppy she'd just picked up. Once I decided to foster,, Hearts and Tails provided me with everything I needed - including shipping a bag of food directly to my house the very next day. We worked together over the next week and a half to find Heidi her perfect forever home. Christina and Kathy clearly love these four legged animals and go to great lengths to rescue them and find the right home for each one. Highly recommend working with them if you are looking for a new furry family member!

Today we brought home little Kira! She is beautiful, inside and out. Cathy at Hearts and Tails was helpful and understanding and clear with details from start to finish. We are so happy to have been chosen to be Kira's new forever home.

We adopted out dog recently from Hearts and tails rescue. They were easy to work with and very communicative about our dogs previous known history. Cathy was in constant communication with us after the adoption to know our dog's progress. Overall great experience.

I had worked with Christina to help me rehome my dog. She was so caring and found a great home for him. I think Christina is very professional and caring about the animals and who they go to for adoption. She has a heart of gold for these rescues and puts all her heart and soul into the care of these animals. I have nothing but good things to say and admire her will and joy to accommodate these animals during their transitions. Christina has such compassion for these animals I admire her for what she does.

I absolutely recommend Hearts and Tails Animal Alliance. It is obvious that Cathy and the rest of her team care deeply about the happiness, well-being, and safety of all the dogs they rescue.Prior to our dog adoption, we had been in correspondence with Cathy for about a month, but were still waiting for our perfect doggy matches to come along. Then, fortunately for us, Cathy reached out to me while on her rescue trip to Puerto Rico regarding a pair of dogs that she thought would be perfect for us. The two pups came up from Puerto Rico, we met them the next day, and we decided on the spot that they were perfect for us. They just came home today and are already loving their new stomping grounds! I feel like most rescues would not take the time or energy to reach out like that, and I thought this was so wonderful that Cathy was genuinely wanting to make a good match for both us and the dogs. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, Hearts and Tails! You are a wonderful organization and we are so grateful for all you do for these dogs. The dogs may not be able to tell you thank you out loud, but we certainly can, so THANK YOU! You are doing awesome things and saving lives!Emily and Pete

We are so happy with our new family member Kylo, 5 m.o. GSD! Hearts and Tails was very helpful and responsive in helping us find a furry friend that met our life style needs. We were able to meet and adopt him in one day! Hearts and Tails provided us with all the information we needed and a small supply of essentials including food and a leash. Very grateful for this organization and its mission. Thank you Cathy.

They clearly care a LOT about the Pets in their care. They aren't just trying to please people by sending out animals but make sure these creatures are going to the right home for them. I went and spoke with Cathy to get my forever dog today and she made sure I was comfortable with him, he was comfortable with me and went out of her way to explain what they are doing and what it is that he will need and making sure he will stay a healthy and happy boy. I am so happy to have him and look forward to giving him the life he deserves. Thank you for my sweet boy Bandit!!

I had to help a family member re-home an elderly dog unexpectedly and I can’t say enough positive things about my experience here. Christina immediately provided me with all of the information and resources necessary to help. Communication was top tier; she followed up with me multiple times a day. It was immensely apparent the level of respect, care, and empathy she has for these babies. A+++

Christina Shay lied about bringing Delilah to the doctors appointment on October 11th for a check up. I informed her (like a good foster mom should) that Delilah was itching and rubbing her ears. She stayed at the RESCUE for 4 days before being seen by a VET. Mind you, she said she made Delilah an appointment....no sort of communication and update. If Christina was able to fit in a Vet check up, WHY DID DELILAH have to sit four days before seeing a vet? Oh and another thing...Delilah was never at the RESCUE...she stayed at another Foster home until she was able to be checked on by a vet.....i paid the 100 fee and Christina told me I wont be getting my refund after if i decided i do not want her. Well, since she was taken from me without any true form of statement, and I never gave her up; refund please! They said it was my environment that may have caused her to be itchy, yet she's only been in my care for 5 days and have been itching since the meet and greet at Christina's Landlord basement, not even a week, so the decompression period hasnt even ended. . In the Hearts and Tails foster agreement, they stated decompression period....meaning it's going to take time to acclimate to new environments....I did everything under the stars to get this precious pup Delilah. The poor communication and lack of judgment has gone downhill. Before anybody even says anything about me, just remember to do your due diligence and check on your OWN STAFF'S wellbeing when taking in A PUP. Your Staff Christina operates in a rental unit under her landlord and yells at her dog when they BARK TOO MUCH.She should've been the one to have her dogs ripped from her rental unit for telling them to shut up.

I was impressed with the organization though it seemed a little backwards at first. I was told I could meet Lucky Charm and if I felt I wanted to proceed with an adoption they would then check my references and do a home visit, seemed a little backwards but I was willing to make the 2 1/2 drive from my home to the rescue to meet the dog. Absolutely fell in love with the dog and the dog liked me. I was then told the board would decide who would adopt the dog. I still felt okay because it showed me they really care about the dogs. Cathy said she felt like it would be between myself and one other person, that’s also fine. They were a day late in telling me decision and I was beyond ticked when I was told that the board decided that I would be the one who would be lucky enough to adopt Lucky Charm BUT THEN a friend of a board member decided last minute they wanted to adopt Lucky so preferential treatment given to that person. It had already been decided by the board! I wish Cathy had just lied to me and not told me I was supposed to be the one to adopt this wonderful dog. She was upset as well she said I will give her that and offered to drive to me with 3 other dogs to choose from. That was nice but the dog I wanted was basically ripped out from under me. To the board of hearts and tails rescue, if you are reading this and I hope you are, in the future any of you or your friends that are looking to adopt, look at the dogs before they are posted for adoption and before any meet and greets by adopters and before someone takes 5 hours out of their day just to drive there and back to meet a dog! Not right at all that it was taken away from me because of who this person knows! I,will not adopt from you simply based on principle for how this was handled. Shame on you all

This is the best of the best when it comes to rescue organizations. Cathy is so caring to the dogs and knowledgeable about their needs. She took the time to visit our home to make sure it was a good match. We highly recommend her organization.
