I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE ENOUGH. This place has a such nice warm vibe with great food, and live music. The food is farm fresh, and tasted great. Took the fish and chicken sandwiches and loved both. The service was also terrific - we were greeted as soon as we entered, and although they made a mistake with the order (gave me pork sandwich instead of fish), they switched it out within 5 mins, and also immediately refunded me whatever extra I paid. Their soft serve is also yummy! Would visit again, when I'm in the area.

Great experience overall! Easy access and parking, prompt service with open atmosphere. Option to sit outside too, but we stayed in due to weather. Broad selection of local beer/cider, good specials. Settled on Friday afternoon finger pickings of fries and tenders - fries were delicious!Perfect way to relax after a long week, can't wait to go back!Parking: Easy parking out front, just off Rt 12 south.

Fantastic food, great service, good vibes and impressive business mission! I devoured the house-made veggie burger and "Summer Thyme" lemonade cocktail. My husband and kiddo cleaned their plates too. They also have a great New England craft beer selection! Definitely pricey when you factor living wage fee, tax, and tip (we gave 20%) makes an adult meal with alcohol drink in $30-40 range. But we were passing by and thrilled to have found this tasty spot and support their paying employees a living wage and FT benefits! Overwhelmingly recommended!!!Kid-friendliness: Kids meal included soft-serve dessert!

If you're from the area you know how limited the options are in the immediate area of Walpole NH and Bellows Falls VT. I would put The Hungry Diner in at least the top 5 greatest places to eat in the area. Don't let the name fool you, because when I think diner this place offers almost zero similarities to anything I would conjure in my mind relating to a "diner". What makes this excellent? The food is consistently great. The service is consistently great. And what more could one really hope for from a good restaurant? It's clean and inviting. Has everything from a great list of local craft brews on tap to the one of the best milkshakes I've had in the area (Sorry Walpole Creamery and Dari Joy). The prices may not be the friendliest if you are on a tight budget, but man is the food just consistently great! Price point would be the only real criticism I could give, but being in business myself I know you can't get both cheap and high quality at the same time. This place remains one of our top places to eat in the area, with the other being just across the river at Wunderbar in Bellows Falls. So, if you haven't tried either of these places you don't know what your missing out on. We would consider ourselves "foodies", I say this only to provide a point of reference for our tastes. Haven't had bad food there yet. Hope this helps!

An impromptu evening with my Gorgeous Goddess and it turned out to be an amazing date. We were just doing a milk run and decided we didn't want to cook when we got home. Decided to swing in here because their menu lines up with gluten sensitivity and we were just going to take it out. Once inside, we couldn't help but stay. Good atmosphere, Great food, and Excellent service. They treated both of us well, beautiful place, and fantastic live music by a local artist just asking for tips. Definitely on the menu for future date nights!Dietary restrictions: Great Gluten Sensitivity selection

Absolutely delicious food with a welcoming atmosphere. We loved the burger, fish tacos, and mac & cheese. Fries and milkshakes are delicious too!We went on Friday evening, 9/23, and they had a talented gentleman playing guitar as well. Such a wonderful experience overall!

Always a fantastic choice for great food. This isn't a diner where you have coffee and eggs. No. This place is melt in your mouth, hand food. Ya, I said hand food. They do have utensils available if that's what you prefer. The menu is simple but their specials are where it's at. Just like any other restaurant, this place can be busy. You can possibly wait for your food for a while but having a place for the kiddo's to run around helps. So does the 15+/- local craft beers on tap. Already looking forward to our next visit.

I love this place! I feel like really great food is hard to come by around here, especially food that thinks outside of the box. I will say it’s a little pricey but I’m from Cali so no shocker to me. The chicken sandwich is awesome and the Korean pork tacos are my favorite. Worth a visit or a date night.

Fantastic food with a fantastic policy of paying employees a living wage!Plus everything is sourced locally so an extremely good community enriching business. Plus, you can taste the elevated quality brought by the fresh ingredients in your food. The menu changes frequently so drop by as much as possible!

Should go without saying - if you're local and hungry, this is your spot. It's in the name! What isn't in the name is how tasty everything is! Great beer & cider, one of the best burgers I've ever had, mouthwatering tacos, and light flaky fish that will force me to come back. Order, pay, sit, eat, leave. Easiest setup you could ask for.

This was incredible! I’m from out of town and was hankering for some Mac n cheese and this hit the spot. All of their food looked GREAT! And they have the best ranch I’ve ever had!Fun cocktails and a great beer selection. A band was playing while we were there and it was a nice & cozy vibe!!

Well, I've been here twice. It's not a bad restaurant, but it has its shortcomings. First, it's very pricey for what you get. If you have to have farm to table food, then you're going to pay a lot more. Beer is pricey for the small sized glasses. Second, they do odd things like randomly serve thigh meat instead of breast meat for their chicken sandwiches. They should offer an up front option of choosing. I probably won't go back because the food is not worth the money. Service is fine, but you order from the counter. Very limited selection of drinks.

This is by far one of my favorite local places to have dinner. Locally sourced meats and breads. Chef inspired meals served in a relaxed setting. The menu is not long and they have instead focused on making the selections with attention to quality. There is outside dining available as well. The beer selection is pretty extensive. Daily specials change so be sure to stop by and check them out on different days.

A very Cosmopolitan feel and Rural setting. Farm fresh ingredients due to a special relationship with a local Farm. A variety of flavors from Korean BBQ, the Cajun, two more traditional American fare. Food was delicious and definitely worth the trip from the highway to grab something to eat.

My wife and I have always had a great experience at the hungry diner. Unfortunately tonight the experience was acceptable. My daughters order of chicken fingers was in fact a chicken sandwich breast that I was able to cut up into four edible bites with a bunch of burnt inedible over fried breading. We've never had experience here, so our guess is it's just a new chef with limited knowledge. But this kids chicken tender meal is unacceptable. And my burger that was supposed to be medium rare is like a seared burnt inedible brick.

This establishment was clean. The people working here were nice. The food came out pretty fast.I thought this was a diner-coffee and eggs- it is not. It is a somewhat organic farm restaurant. We did not order much, basically an order of chicken fingers and a burger. My wife had the burger and said it was average.I shared the chicken fingers with my kids. Every parent knows that kids meals options are slim and I felt very comfortable feeding these chicken fingers to my kids. They were organic, fresh and delicious-I don't even think they were deep fried.Prices were on the high side. It's a unique restaurant that if I lived around here, I would probably frequent, but for a quick stop off the highway I don't think this is your spot.

I’ve eaten here about 10 times now and the past few times have been so incredibly underwhelming I have felt compelled to leave a review. They have severely messed up at least one meal the last three times and done little to fix the problem. They served the most incredibly rare steak I have ever seen and they tried to recook it THREE TIMES, failing each time to reach a simple medium. To top it off they put a patty of cold unmelted butter on top the last time. They managed to serve half raw tenders and replace them with sliced chicken….. Most of the menu is upscale fast food. Everything is severely overpriced for being mostly fried food and the thing that pisses me off is that they hit you with an 8% living wage fee after asking for a tip! It literally cost me $25 per person for fried food sandwiches…. and they’re not even that great. Not worth the price or experience imo

Food is nothing out of ordinary but it’s wicked expensive. A spicy burger 21$ and a glass of hard cider 8$. I feel bad I didn’t tip the girl at the cashier cuz I thought they would call the number and customers go get their food. The taste and quality of food definitely is not worth of the price. The place is nice though. So if you don’t care about the price and food just like hanging out somewhere nice, come and dine.

Great ambiance and easy menu to look at, especially with all of the local options šŸ˜. Loved that you can order for yourself at the front. We we're served very quickly as well!I tried the pulled pork (pictured) and my partner enjoyed a Hungry Burger with fries. Delicious. My favorite was the Nitro Stout Milkshake. Unique and yummy!

Great experience, excellent wholesome food, prepared with care. If that's your thing, you can't go wrong here.Dietary restrictions: They were very accommodating to my request for dairy and grain free. The pickle jar was a nice way to start the meal.

Excellent food!! We're passing thru on our way home to MA. The sign on the table states it's local (within 5 miles) using sustainable and humane practices. Great atmosphere & friendly service. It's a modern day diner... with delicious dill pickles, metal milkshake straws, chalk menu board and subway tile. However you eat at traditional wooden tables with benches (& pillows) and Ikea style plastic chairs. Order up at the counter/bar and they buzz you when it's time to pick up your food at the pick up window. Even water is from a self serve station complete with ice and lemons. There's no food pic.s because we devoured it. Not a scrap of food left. $42 for two burgers/fries a soda and a milkshake. I did read other reviews that suggested it was too expensive for self serve... however my theory is if it's local, right and good...go for it!! Never too expensive to support responsible local farming/farmers/ businesses. It's good for your communities too! It was deliciousšŸ’•and would eat here again if passing thru in the future... and next time we'll buy a t-shirt!
