This grocery store is so offensively bad, it would be laughable if it weren't so frustrating. I stopped going here 10 years ago because of chronic understaffing of the checkout lanes. I went back recently and literally nothing has changed, except the interior of the store seems even more dirty and unkempt than it did a decade ago, and I'm really unsure as to how that's even possible. I waited for 30 minutes in two huge lines of equally frustrated people to pay for my small handful of low quality produce, while all of the other registers remained unmanned. The management at this place is so bad that I don't think it's an exaggeration to suggest that this might be the worst grocery store in New England, and very possibly the observable universe. If you have the option to shop anywhere, literally ANYWHERE else, do not come here.Edit: The expected regurgitation of corporate platitudes is hollow and insincere. I can only hope for the sake of the employees and the surrounding community that something will finally change, but a decade didn't do it, so I wouldn't anticipate it anytime soon.

There is routinely not enough cashiers assigned to registers. While people stand behind the service desk and look on in aww at the length of lines and do nothing about it.Meanwhile the cashier or cashier(s) if you’re licking are spending minutes on na transaction talking to everyone as if they are their best friend or family. Just one evening I would love to be able to go in and grab some drinks, snacks or maybe even a dinner for evening without having to spend 30 - 45 minutes in line.

I love Shaw's but the past few weeks Walpole is out of sale products on the first day. I'm thinking of going to the Peterborough Shaw's instead. They always have plenty.

Long checkout wait every single time! Milks always out.. meat went bad the next day after paying $ 18 for steak tips. Not the first time this has happened. Checking out at night the kids up front act so strange and childish they avoid cashing you out! Not impressed with all departments of this rundown understaffed store. Better off going anywhere else!

Cramped space that somehow always feels dirty. It's extremely difficult maneuvering around customers and restockers. Won't go here if I have time to drive to Keene or Brattleboro.Cashiers are almost always looking despondent and typically only speak to their coworkers. Today I was waiting to be told my total and all I got was a blank stare. Cashier never uttered a single syllable the entire transaction and I felt like I was begging for the receipt she was holding in her hand.We all have bad days. I get it, I worked in retail for many years. If I had treated customers like this it I wouldn't have had a job, yet this is my experience at least 75% of the time. Self checkouts are a blessing.

Be aware of constant fraudulent overcharges, rude customer service, over-priced groceries, and sloppy, untrained cashiers. Many, many times I have found that cashiers, not paying attention, rang in the wrong prices or double-charged me for groceries.

Today someone stole my I-phone because I left it on the checkout stand and the staff at Shaws were so caring and compassionate. They helped me call the police and eventually Doug the manager found it outside where it was discarded. The team was so patient with me including Tyson who kept my phone until I got there. I am so appreciative of their professionalism and customer service. I will be shopping there for life and will encourage all my friends as well. Thank you Doug and your awesome team! I am now team Shaws!!

Before 5 pm 3 hours til closingFried chicken on sale. None to be seen. Fryer cleaned up obviously off for the day. Couple people standing around shooting the s***. Shaws app for Udeals not working. Not worth the short drive going there anymore.

Shaws is on that same level of corporate evil as Comcast. Sure, I buy stuff there because it's local, but I feel extremely bad for all the poor souls stuck working at this hellish workplace. That being said, when you need something quickly, they are always nearby, waiting to greedily consume your dollars...and perhaps your soul as well.

The meat and fish selection is not good. If I can't see how they prepare the cuts, I can't trust it. Once found a piece of glass in the burger. The prices across the store are higher than other much better markets, with no clear reason. The quality and selection certainly don't justify it. The deli is usually a mess, with service and fresh selections. The aisles are tight and often cluttered with stock carts. I really wish a good co-op would come to Walpole to replace Shaw's. On a good note, many of the cashiers are helpful, though staffing often runs short so line back up into the aisles.

Bought some meat specials. Stick to them to watch you budget. Store tends to the expensive. But if your lucky to have their app, a smart phone or a computer you get some really good specials. Too bad its not straight across the board. It used to be. So those stuggling with life in general don't qualify for the good deals. How much is the app getting for this.

Very rude cashier at one of the registers, literally tosses every item down the belt to the bagger. Then makes fun of people's last names as they walk away. Really should get rid of people like that, I won't go in that check out again for sure.

Only one in 100 miles that actually care about their customers. Been to Springfield VT one so expensive can't walk out of store with 2 bags costing almost 100.00. they need to just fix prices!!

Standard chain supermarket. This store is generally clean and well staffed. They have a pretty good selection of meats and cheeses. If you're looking for something more specific it may be a gamble. Produce is well stocked and fresh. The only negative is that the prices are a bit higher than some other chain supermarkets.

I cashed a check first thing this morning and Lexi...the CSM...was heart! The store was pretty busy for only being 8 am but sure came right over to take care of me as soon as she saw me. As I saw leaving I watched her run over and start checking people out to help alleviate the checkout lines. This store isn't perfect but they do try in the front end.

Clean fresh,,think they need to think about self checkout. In saying that I was in and out quickly, some of the freed up personnel can face and keep shelf's full all departments meat frozen food fresh fruits and veggies.. in closing store fresh clean and we'll managed the best Shaw's around a 100 mile radius.

I posted this 4 years ago and today as I stood in line long enough to get annoyed I decided to revise it. I mean I'm glad I learned my cashier can't drink to much pineapple juice but really 20 min in line for 2 people ahead of me is extra bad.Always bad today terrible. The woman in deli who was yelling across the section to demean her employees was very off putting. She then preceded to go behind the deli counter and yelled more. One of the worst examples of management I have ever witnessed. Coach and train your employees and take corrective action in appropriate places behind closed doors done insult and demean in front of customers. That woman has no place in management her treatment bordered on abuse.

So we shop at the Shaw's in Walpole on a regular basis. We probably drop between five and eight hundred dollars per month on average. So I'm getting bratwurst out of the cooler in the Back,my wife walks down the butter isle to get butter. She slips and falls stricking her head on the cooler and hurting her back and hip. Just to be clear my wife is seventy years old and has back issues. There was a puddle of water at the base of the cooler that appeared to be from condensation from the size of the puddle it had been there quite some time. Why it was not properly cleaned up I do not know it was quite large. When the manager finally showed up I proceeded to tell him how I thought it was ridiculous , he informed I needed to be quiet. I told him no it was ridicilous .he informed me fine then he was calling the cops. How this person got himself into a position of responsibility, and put in a job were he has to deal with the puplic is beyond me. I do not recommend this store to anyone very poorly run. We will not be patronizeing it any longer.. the store is pretty well unkept. Corporate should be ashamed of this location. The isles are usually very congested with product displays which In a lot of instances severely limit's your ability to social distance this coupled with the fact that they don't do a good job of cleaning up spills make it quite dangerous and usually is not well stocked either, they are often out of sale items far and away the worst Shaw's store I have ever shopped at.well worth the extra gas to drive to Keene or Claremont to avoid doing business with these people, very disappointed.

I love Shaw's, but they are a little bent on some of their prices. Nice customer service, but limited selection. For a small town, it beats going to Keene if you only need a few things. But if you need to go full on grocery shopping, you're probably better off driving to Keene and going to Marketbasket.

It's Shaws in rural New England. The store is extremely limited in certain areas. Things you need aren't always in stock. Most of the time the sale items aren't in stock. Constantly seeing new faces due to the turn over rate being so high. Sadly unless i want to drive 30 min one way to a bigger grocery store I am forced to shop here for the bulk of my needs.

Compared to where I live and shop I found this Shaws to be crowded (with customers and product) and pricey. If you need something they will probably have a version of it even if it is not your usual brand. The customer service desk was helpful and the check out clerk efficient, serious and polite. The baggers were awesome.

Are you kidding?! Now the special offer of Buy 5 and get $1 off ea. pint of blueberries, blackberries, raspberries (which were "out back"). The continuously overpriced Shaw's in both Springfield (VT) and Walpole (NH) gets on my nerves. I always shop Market Basket for fair prices and good produce.

They were so kind to me I was a few dollars short and it was late and I had my 3y old daughter who is not feeling well and who is very tired with me and the gentleman working the cash register and the lady who was bagging covered what I was not able to and that was amazing and helped me so much. I wish I got their names but it was tonight around 8pm or so. Those kind of people are the kind that give me hope that there are still people who care out there who work with the public day in and day out!

A not too outstanding grocery store. I believe it's owned by Star Markets (big in MA), the people are mostly fine. They've been steadily adding more organic food over the years. It's clean and bright, just not as big as other stores out there.

This Shaw's has a terrible selection of dairy free and gluten free foods. It always feels chaotic, dirty, and overstaffed so I run into staff mulling around more than other shoppers. I suggest the Shaw's in Springfield for a better atmosphere and selection.

I always go to Donna's line me and my wife like her. Look at what my savings was at 52% on 12/08/2018. Donna told me to put all of what I had and not to worry I would not go over my $40. She was right it came to $36.87 I loved how she made me feel knowing I could pay it and not feel ashamed about putting anything back. Hope you Shaw's never get rid of donna

Other than the everyday high prices, the store is clean and food is fresh. If shopping, use the app for great coupons and rewards.

It's a smaller location so not as many options as some of the larger stores but overall good variety. Prices are comparable with other grocery stores

It's a Shaws, high prices and good sales. Go there with a list you made using the sale flyer and get some bargains but not many compared to Market Basket. Quality of fresh food is sometimes lacking.
