We visited this campground a second time because the first was very nice and had many great kid friendly amenities. The second week of October I brought some extended family (from Florida) who had never gone camping before. I was very disappointed in the stay this time around. I did email the KOA and the owner responded and said someone would be contacting me to rectify the situation. I sent a follow up email weeks later and got a similar response. Never heard from anyone.I was requesting a partial refund because the time we were there, the amenities were not available and I felt it was a ghost town. There was no staff at the office when we got there during the day to check in and our papers were outside. We never say a single staffer that day. I couldn’t buy anything inside the camp store, the balls weren’t available, the game room was a disaster - never cleaned up from a Halloween party. I was very embarrassed that I brought my extended family here with nothing to do for the 2 boys. Our site was fine- waterfront. And the other campers were quiet. We didn’t see any staff until we were leaving and needed help with our water hose and needed a tool. We did finally find someone on a golf cart.I asked for a partial refund bc the amenities weren’t available. I understand they were closing that next week for the season, but I honestly feel if you aren’t going to have access to all the things you offer and advertise for, the price should be reduced. And I feel that’s fair. I’m very disappointed no one contacted me back.

First time at this KOA and loved it! Huge, private site for our 34’ camper. Super clean bathrooms. From the minute we arrived, all the staff was so incredibly friendly. You can tell the people here love their job and want to make sure you enjoy your stay. Our first full day here was a rainy Friday morning. The activities for the morning were supposed to be outside, but due to the weather, they were indoors. Our kiddos were the only ones who showed up, but Cathy was amazing with them. She did the activities she had and then let the girls take the lead. The girls had fun playing Cathy’s games and I think Cathy had just as much fun learning new dances!

Nice KOA campground, staff was great, helpful if and when needed.Main drawback was noise due to current construction activities acrkss the highway from the site.View along the river was peaceful and quite pretty. On our last day at the campground we enjoyed a visit by a family of ducks!

Very nice camping well located to enjoy the White Mountains. It has the charm of an old summer camp. Great trails for dogs and their owners plus a fenced park to let the dogs run and play. My major issue was the traffic noise from the highway. I had a hard time sleeping as I had the feeling the trucks were 2 feet from my window. If you decide to go there, choose a site as far as possible from the main road

It is very calm here. Very beautiful views. lots of hiking trails. There is not a jam pack day of activity planned here. There are some but just not as many as other camp sites I have been. The on site food is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. The staff are very kind and helpful. I feel the sites could use a little tlc for the infrastructure like the electrical box and cable connection boxes are loose. Sewer connection is not screw in just place in. They have concrete car stops around the site that I feel are in the way. Overall very nice and tranquil place to be.

Overall our experience at this KOA was awesome. We would definitely recommend and would come back. That being said, this is a really family friendly place. If you are child free by choice, you may want to keep looking for something a little quieter. Here are a few of the positives and less than positives:Positives- Super clean. Staff comes by multiple times a day to collect garbage, and bathrooms and showers were always very clean, and the laundry facility is clean and reasonably priced- Dog friendly- Staff is super friendly, helpful, and kind. They all have dog treats for the pups on their golf carts- The camp store is well run and has plenty of fun souvenirs or necessities in case you’ve forgotten something- The breakfast is pretty good- they have plenty of activities on weekends to keep kids busy if that’s your thingLess than positive- it doesn’t seem like there is much thought put into placement at sites. There were a ton of empty sites nearby but they put the next two groups, one of which was a pretty large (loud) group directly next to us. Stumbling out of your tent after being woken up by people at 6 am (on a holiday weekend) to have them all sitting 10 feet away and staring directly at your tent is not my idea of a great morning. This is the reason for the knocked star.- bathroom stalls are extremely short. If you have any ADA issue, there is no accessible stall for either side.- bathrooms and showers could use an update. They are clean but most missing shower heads and drip a constant stream of wasted water.Pro Tips:- on the women’s side, the shower furthest from the bathroom door is the largest- if you’re looking for maximum privacy, try to get the site next to the TiPis- bring coins for the laundry facility

If you like trees, then this is the place for you. The roads and camp sites are narrow and dirt roads only. The campsites are small and hard to maneuver because of so many trees and hills. The entrance is very tight and narrow and makes it very challenging to get in. Not a perfect place for a 40 foot 5th wheel. We won’t be visiting this KOA again. There are many permanent campsites with campers that are not well kept and quite frankly look trashy. They have a lot of staff on hand but not very friendly.

Our overall experience at this KOA was excellent. We would definitely recommend it and we will come back. We brought some of our grandkids and stayed in a TiPi. The campground is very family friendly. They have lots of activities for the kids on the weekends. When we stayed it was Christmas in July. My grandkids loved the crafts they made. Some were free like making a stocking for Santa to fill and meet him later that day. My granddaughter is still talking about seeing Santa. ❤️ The staff was awesome in fact when they saw my two one year old grandchildren a staff member was like wait they need a gift from Santa and ran off coming back with two stuffed animals for them. The campground is clean and well maintained. Although the bathrooms could use some updating and would save on water if they were. Over all they are what you’d expect for a campground. The staff is great and comes by multiple times a day to collect garbage at your site which is great. The campground is dog friendly which was great because when a campsite opened up last minute my son and his family were able to join us with their kids and their golden retriever. They have a great spot for the dogs to go for a swim, lots of beautiful trails to hike, be sure to bring your kids bikes it’s a wonderful place for them to ride their bikes as well, there are two playgrounds and the pool nice and clean. There is so much to do here. The reason I gave a 4 star ⭐️ for the rooms is because we stayed in a TiPI and there is a bunk bed in it which no one can really sleep on the bottom bunk just because it has a very thick mattress and needs to be on a thin bunk board so it’s not so close to the top bunk. We we’re thankful that there was a trundle because that’s were my grandson ended up sleeping, also the fan in the TiPi needs to be replaced it was very noisy and hard to sleep with it on and too hot to sleep in without it on. The only other thing is the TiPi itself smelt musty but other than that we had a great time and are already planning our next trip back!!

This is by far one of the best campgrounds we have ever stayed at. It was so clean and well maintained. The entire staff was friendly. The pool amazing. Campsites are large. Fire pits are great. My son loved riding his bike around. We rented a row boat and found out we aren’t row boat people which was hilarious and will go down as a great memory. We don’t live to far away so we are definitely going to make this a yearly trip.

My husband and I loved our stay at Chocorua KOA. We have a year and a half old Golden Retriever who we bring everywhere with us and the amenities for him were great. Their dog park was the biggest fenced-in area we have seen yet and they also had a dog pond for him to swim in. They don’t allow fishing there so we didn’t have to worry about hooks or lures. The staff though was really incredible. Every day we saw SO many workers going around keeping the campground clean. They even escort every guest down to their site which is something my husband and I have never seen before and we are avid campers. Jayne and Bruce at the kitchen in the Pavilion were the best! They loved our Golden named Beckham and would give him ice cubes when we would go visit. Also, there was a man in a golf cart (I cannot recall his name) who would always give Beckham a treat! Beckham remembered him every time we walked by.The only thing I wish was different though was when we asked about staying the final night in a cabin. It was 4th of July weekend but the campground wasn’t full and we saw many cabins that were open (and listed as open on their website). It was pouring a majority of the weekend and our tent was beginning to leak. We went up to the office to ask if there was any way we could stay our final night in a cabin (obviously paying whatever the additional amount was) because we got some sun and wanted to try and pack up our tent while it was dry since the next day (day we were leaving) was suppose to rain all morning. We were told that they couldn’t accommodate that since they require a 2 night minimum. Which I completely understand but we new so many neighbors who packed up and left early because of the rain and also knew that no one was in a few of the cabins. Thankfully the rain did hold off for when we packed up (although it poured the night before) but it would have been nice if there was any way they could have allowed us to do that given the weather and vacancy they had.In all though, it was such a great campground and my husband and I have told a bunch of people about it already! We will absolutely be back.Nearby activities: Since we always have our Golden with us, we are always looking for dog-friendly places.Dog Friendly (Outside Only)Tamworth DistilleryWhippletree WinerySea Dog Brewing (also has a dog menu!)Sap House MeaderyDog Friendly (Inside and Outside)Cathedral Ledge DistillingFour Your Paws OnlyL.L. BeanNot Dog Friendly (Inside or Outside)Hobbs BrewingWalkability: The campground was large so it was great to walk our dog around.Food & drinks: At the campground in the Pavilion, they had a Cafe that served Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. This was PERFECT for when it was pouring and my husband and I couldn’t cook on our outdoor stove. They also offered pizza delivery right to your site too which was awesome. And there was a bunch of ice cream and toppings to choose from!Noteworthy details: Very dog friendly! HUGE dog park and dog pond to swim in. They don’t allow fishing so no hooks and lures to worry about.

I absolutely love the vibe of this campground! From the start to the end of our stay, everyone was amiable and welcoming! One thing that stood out to me was the owner of the campground was walking with a newly acquired rescue dog while my children were playing in the playground. An employee was raking, and the owner had stopped and made a point (and not because I was standing there as she didn’t see me watching) to tell the worker how she was doing a fantastic job. It is very nice to see personable owners treat their employees with such kindness and respect, which is definitely reflected in the environment of this campground! We will be back! Thank you to the owners and staff of Chocorua KOA for hosting a wonderful first experience at your beautiful piece of paradise!

Booked a water site (1 of 6) just to be told when we showed up that it was flooded! No problem completely understandable for this time of the year, but they did have my contact info to inform me and give me options! They moved us to a site that didn't fit our camper 32' TT at a discounted rate with 2 complimentary bundles of fire wood. Kicker is the site they moved us to was directly across from the site we booked- on the river with a patio, very nice site! They were flooding our site with the 2-3" fire hoses pumping out an area of the campground that was flooded. Ok no problem, so we noticed 2 not 1 but 2 of the water sites( 1 on each side of ours are empty) so I ask the escort if we can just have one of them, nope they are already booked they call the front office to ask and it was a no! Hmmm ok why they were going to get busy........we ended up staying at Danforth Bay and it was amazing. KOA.....?????? We wanted to try one, nvr again will we book at a KOA. We don't need a resort stay by any means, we are campers but a bit of accommodation goes along way.I will say when we were back at the checkout gate, Bob the manager came over and asked why we were leaving.....just for me to tell him the story and his reply was " I wish you asked me, I would have just moved you to one of the sites like the one you booked! So in regards to friendly staff, absolutely. As far as knowledge on unique situations they did not communicate the issue to the higher ups so to speak. Happy camping all.

This camp ground is awesome. We had a great time and all the people there were very helpful. Really enjoyed chatting with Bob, Jim, Steve, Fred and especially Paul. Keep up the great work and will see you in the future. The pool was still open and super clean. All the site are well kept and the grounds team does a tremendous job of keeping it clean. Hope the kitchen gets onion rings for next year.

We loved this KOA, the staff was super friendly and it have a very ‘camp’ feel to it. The store was nice, the food was delicious and the playgrounds were good for the kids. We had a pull through site which was actually pretty tight to the sites around it. It was difficult to have a fire without having to close the awning. Other sites, including the water front ones, looked great. We will go back

Incredible facilities, organisation and welcome. I’ve never been to a campground with twice-daily garbage collection from your pitch, cable tv, or pizza and firewood delivery! There is a large network of well kept and pretty walking trails, a swimming and boating lake - it’s all very scenic and we saw lots of wildlife. Plus well stocked store and other facilities and a ton of events for kids. The staff were incredibly helpful. Only negatives: you can hear highway noise at times/certain areas of the site. We were also placed in a busy part of the site with neighbours on all sides, but there were some awesome pitches by the lake empty.

Incredible! Wood delivered to site, trash picked up daily. Fun activities all weekend. And attentive friendly staff. Our family loved renting boats and having the option to swim in the pool or at the ponds beach. Dog friendly and lots for the kids to do. I’d recommend for anyone

Easily one of the best campgrounds we’ve ever been to. It is clearly evident how much the hosts care about this property. The attention to detail over the years, maintaining an incredible amount of trees and natural landscape, and proximity to nature and water is phenomenal. The staff are top-notch. They are friendly, welcoming, accommodating, and helpful. Easy to get to, though would be a little challenging navigating inside the campground with very large equipment such as a max length class A or fifth wheel. However we had no trouble getting around. Centrally located only an hour from the white mountains, flume gorge, Franconia Notch, and so forth to the north and an hour southeast to Portsmith, Kittery, and the seacoast. Bathrooms are quite dated and have a very “campground“ feel versus more modern facilities, but we did not expect anything more and they were certainly adequate. This campground is a new annual (or multiple!) visit for us.

We stayed here the week of 9/19/21 with our 6 month old in our 23 foot travel trailer. We had a great time. The staff is friendly and talkative. The grounds are very well kept, including the beach area and pool. The shower houses and laundry were dated, but hot water and good water pressure is all I could ask for! Would recommend to others and would come back.

Just an amazing team of folks each trying to help myself and my daughter out as we tried 3 different camp sites for my plug in vehicle. We finally found the adapter I had may not be working and we used the 20 amp adapter instead. The one camp site didn’t seem to work correctly and I went back to the other campsite with a working solution. These guys looked for different sites and offered up a 50amp just to see what they could do for me so late at night. We finally settled in by 9 pm with the help of the KOA folks there. In addition, they had all the social comforts my daughter just loved and she easily got involved with all the ongoing activities. On top of that, she also caught a fish in the pond. I think we caught some good people at this KOA and I hope this review gives them the recognition they have earned and deserve!

Favorite campground to date! We stayed on the rustic side, no power, no cars, it was awesome! We stayed in the Talaki cabin. So quiet and peaceful with a view of the pond... just how we like camping to be! We bought floaties and spent hours chilling on the pond which was so relaxing. We even did one of the activities at the pavilion - made tie-dye shirts! Our dog loved the dog beach so much. Great memories made for all! We love KOA because they are always friendly, clean, and fun... we will be back!

My son, dog, and I go here at least once a year, sometimes twice. We cannot get enough as its so beautiful with so much to do. We rent a cabin which allows for no fuss for us but can still experience camping at its best. My son is an avid fisherman and this is his favorite place to fish. He's caught so many different types and is always hoping for the biggest bass. We enjoy kayaking, taking the dog on the various hiking trails, and letting him run free in the dog park. There are so many on site scheduled activities that we have experienced but our favorite was the haunted walk through the woods right before Halloween or maybe the Bingo. We will continue to visit annually as its also so close to so many great attractions in NH.

Actual rating = 4.5 starsSo glad we went backWe first visited this campground in 2018 and didn't love it. At that time, we were kind of new to camping and our kids were very little. The first visit we didn't have a great site for our setup, it was kind of narrow and long. Also, we had a longer walk to the bigger playground for the kids. Plus, we hadn't visited a lot of campgrounds at that point. We didn't really know what to look for with a good campground. Because of those things, we decided not to visit this campground again. We were looking for a place to stay near Conway and decided to give this campground another try. I asked for a site with more room and was easily accommodated. Checking in was easy and the staff was very friendly. We were helped to our campsite and easily fit. We were in site B7, which is pretty large. It is not a very level site, but we had plenty of level blocks etc. The site had 4 different water spigots, 2 - 30 amp connections, one 50 amp connection, coax for cable, and a sewer connection in the ground. Everything was within easy reach of our camper. We immediately fell in love with the campground and couldn't understand why we didn't before. We rented a row boat ($8/hr) and rowed around the pond. We took the dog to the dog swimming area and let him splash around. The kids biked all over the place and played at both playgrounds. We enjoyed the ice cream night and trying to hook the rings. We just missed the wagon rides, but they looked like fun. We didn't go into the pool at all, but it looked nice. The staff is constantly on the move cleaning things up etc. I regularly saw staff members stop their cart to pickup a tiny piece of trash. You can tell the campground is very well cared for.I took off a 1/2 star for two very minor reasons. The first reason being how unlevel our site was. It was hard to even find a good spot for the picnic table. It was doable, but not great. The second being the rowboat we rented. The paddle pivots were in the wrong spot and the paddle handles would hit each other when rowing. It wasn't a huge deal and we rented it a second time during our stay. Just a bit annoying.I will be staying at this campground again and highly recommend it to anyone.

Great location for exploring the White Mountains. Large campground with many amenities. Just be careful if you are a big rig. We have a class A, 40 foot and when they say 40 foot is max, we know why! We barely made it through without clipping trees or the gate house at entry. Make sure your site properly accommodates you and access to get to site as well.

The best campground in New England !!! Over 5 miles of nature trails, small lake and river, daily recreation activities, wooded campsites. There are different levels of lodging available too. Tipis, and RV, deluxe cabins as well as super private off the grid cottages. They have a very reasonably priced camp store with everything you need and a new food service kitchen. Definitely recommend for families, couples, or anyone looking for a pet friendly stay as they have a huge dog park with agility equipment and a dog beach. If weekends are booked, go for a mid-week adventure when it's nice and quiet.

Amazing campground. My husband and I have been to at least 15 campgrounds and this blew all the others away. The view from the site was incredible - we woke up each morning to a view of the water and mountains. The bathrooms were exceptionally clean. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. So many activities offered and plenty of things to do. Our favorite part was how pet friendly they are. There are miles of walking trails, a huge dog park, and even a doggie beach for swimming. We will definitely be back!

We’ve never been camping before. Came here on the recommendation of a friend/ worker. What an AMAZING PLACE!!!! We stayed in a tee pee (first time campers) with beds and a space heater. Great deck and fire pit. Anything and everything you need is in the camp store. What you don’t pick up and just take from there they deliver right to your site. Events are planned from 10:00 am -8:00 pm. The food at the campsite is actually GOOD!!!!! There’s wifi, and a binder with things to do. Oh. And if you have a pet there’s a dog park and doggie day care!!!!!We were able to participate in the Halloween walk that was AMAZING!!! Everyone was so nice. We will definitely be back again!!!
