This organization goes above and beyond for all animals big or small and is probably one of the purest and honest organizations I have ever volunteered for. There are small animals like rats mice and even sometimes birds Then there are the larger animals such as canines which take a lot more work and training as one could expect. I can't forget to mention the feline rooms that are fully equipped with all sorts of fun things to climb around and hide in.If you are an animal lover or are hoping to purchase a pet come on down to the Monadnock Humane Society you might just meet the one.In case you love rats as much as I do I definitely wouldn't miss another opportunity to form a relationship with a few sophisticated rodents for your home and family to love and to learn from.šŸ€

This was the fourth rescue/ASPCA for the day my daughters and I visited. It was by far the best. They had the most cats, they had a place you could play with the cats and not just look at a TV screen or see through a window. There is a reason so many animals are adopted here, you get to bond with them! The process is painless and very short to adopt- which was appreciated.I wish to note the staff, namely Dorothea (I missed getting the other two womans' names) were helpful, kind, and understanding. I mean, other ASPCA places were nice too, but we ended up getting "Toothless"( formerly Toto) there. I wish all rescue places were set up like Monadnock. Hey, if you get done early you can hike pumpelly trail.

It's a multifunction facility. Beside having a pond for rescue dogs they also animal "hotel" and daycare as well dog training classes. The training classes range from the basic obedient to advanced obstacles training. I have yet to find staff I wouldn't like. They are all friendly and trying to help you with what is in their abilities. Yes, I will send my friends with pets there.

I am sorry to say that they were not much help to me and my cat, Gizmo. He has an inner ear infection and I went to them for help and all they said is that I could surrender him. After spending $1.000.00 of dollars on him and taking him to 3 vets, why would I want to surrender him. They were no help, even though on their website it says they give support, but they didn’t even offer to give me any. My daughter got me a cat from them before, and when I went to pick him up, they gave me the wrong cat that I didn’t pick out, plus the one they give me was really sick. Unfortunately, I didn’t have him very long for he couldn’t keep any food down, even after the my vet put him on medication. So my vet had to put him down. I will never get another animal from them again. Like I said I am very disappointed in their support when it comes to treating animals.

Two weeks ago I adopted a Royal Bahamian Potcake male. He was quite guarded meeting me, but responsive to staff. I am very favorably impressed by the entire operation from the welcome we received, the love the staff has for the animals and the mission. I highly recommend the Monadnock Humane Society. BTW my pup is letting down his guard as we build trust in each other.

This place is beyond amazing!!! The animals are so happy here, and they have so much attention given to them from the wonderful staff and fantastic volunteers it's almost like the fury friends don't want to leave. This humane society is super clean and the animals have lots and lots of room to roam. The prices of adoption are less than a vet visit!!! They make it possible for the average family's on a fixed income to afford saving the life of an animal needing a home and a loving family. They made the adoption of our new family member quick and stress free, so I hope everyone reading this will swing in and hopefully find that new family member.

Found our newest rescue here 2 weeks ago. Tooty is such an affectionate boy. I’ve never seen a cat with a personality like him. Very docile & loves our other cat. Monadnock makes the adoption process so easy in comparison to other places, you can adopt on the spot. Sure, they have limited hours, it doesn’t fit my schedule either but we made it work and found such a good senior kitty. Highly recommend!

Such a dedicated staff. Ended up with a little kitty we renamed Samson. Sweetest boy, who enjoys bird watching, climbing his catarium his cat dad made for them, and napping with his little sister at whatever spot they end up snoozin. Thank you for helping us add to our little family.

I donate as much as I can. They are amazing at giving each animal cuddles & love w/1 on 1 time. Bless the staff for all they do. If you've never been, it's a great day w/kids &/or grandkids(post covid). It's especially important that we don't forget the staff or animals at this time, as there is not the usual flow of visitors, giving the animals loves & extra attention. Plus there newer program where they will take care of your pet for free should you end up in a bad situation. Yes it's free, even medical care and when you are settled you get to take your baby home. Unlimited visits w/your pet. Please if you can, donate. They always have a wish list. Right now they need paper towels. Go to the dollar tree & purchase 1 roll. Trust me, as your driving away a really good feeling comes over you. Even better make a goal of donating once a wk/every other wk/monthly. A simple $1.00 roll of p. towels is a lot more help than you think. The self gratification is awesome. Then get your kids, friends, relatives, co-workers all involved. If we all buy 1 roll of p. towels, imagine the difference!! Animals are just as important as babies. They are alone at night, they can be scared, anxious, get sick, separation anxiety. All creatures matter. Pass the love on. I make toys for the cats, I just finished beds. They need towels so I'm turning beach towels into hand towels. I recycle everything!

After a lot of searching, we found a cat to give a forever home to. Staff was friendly and the animals were very well cared for. While I understand staffing, etc, I wish they had open adoption hours that were not during the middle of the day on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

This is a very professional dog training and daycare / boarding facility in addition to being a humane society kennel. They have a huge campus, situated well back from the highway with multiple fenced and secure play areas filled with enrichment obstacles and toys galore. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and consummatly professional. I've never seen another humane society anywhere close to this level of care and services offered. The staff all truly love animals and it shows in the way they engage with each and everyone. They have a large indoor training arena and host multiple public dog rallies, competitions and events throughout the year. This place is a hidden gem.

Don't expect them to help you out if your dogs behavior starts to change after several years of attending without issue.

The staff really do care and work incredibly hard to provide the most respectful, loving homes for all the animals. It's a wonderful place.

We adopted our Sophie kitty there and were told that she had been thoroughly checked out by their vet. We were also told that she was approximately 6 1/2 yrs old. After bringing her home and to our own vet we found that she is probably closer to a geriatric feline. She had 2 toenails/claws deeply grown into the pads. She also came with Earmites and almost 1 year later I still am not able to pick her up and she will NOT leave my room and I am the only person that is able to pet her. She does still occasionally bite me but I can't imagine her life before me so I'm certain that she has her reasons. I paid $100 to adopt her and another $400 more to get her to at least not be hurting. I was told as we were leaving the society that I could bring her back if it didn't work out. DON'T ADOPT HERE. THERE ARE MANY OTHER PLACES THAT WILL MAKE SURE YOU ARE GETTING A FOREVER FRIEND AND THAT YOU CAN BE SURE THAT THE PEOPLE ARE NOT GOING TO BE DECEIVING. The 1st picture is today and the 2nd a few months after we got her and the 3rd is her immediately after bringing her home and she was in the same spot for many months.

Very helpful, but today Sunday it was very busy. Only had two dogs for adoption. Because they adopted 6 dogs out Friday. Dogs don't last very long there, they are adopted quickly!Very easy adoption process, no stupid long questionnaires to fill out,Like so many other rescues that I visited. No online pre-registration. It's all done in. Takes 5 minutes.

They wouldn't groom my dog because he was too nervous, mind you I told them several times on the phone prior to the appt about his nervousness and they said they've dealt with many nervous dogs before, so it's okay. Obviously they lied, because they wouldn't groom him, and he wasnt even there for more than a half hour... I told them he was the same way at the vet, and they poked him with needles and everyone was still fine. This dog is a big people person, and goes to fairs with us and loves pets. So I told them I guess we'll have to find somewhere else to get him trained then... and the woman responded by saying "That's okay with us". They were rude and not caring at all. I also would like to know what happens if they get a dog in their kennel for rehoming that is actually aggressive.?*Update*Petco was able to work with him and get the groom done!

MHS is only open 11-3. It’s so hard to adopt the pet you want if you work those very same hours they are open. Esp. During the weekday. The staff won’t take a money deposit over the phone or hold a pet you might be looking for. Very disappointed!

I recently adopted an older cat from here and the staff is great. They are very caring and attentive, and medical staff does an outstanding job making sure the animals are healthy. I will recommend the Humane Society to anyone and support them in any way in can.

Disclosure: I'm married to an employee.MHS takes great care of their animals, and my daughter and I love visiting Mom at work. The animals are all well-fed and taken care of, and honestly I'd love to adopt most of them if we had the time and space.
