The store advertises as a butchery but is far from it. I have gone on multiple occasions and asked for specific cuts of meat to be made into hamburger. You know the services that you would get at any butcher. The first time I went they said it was too early in the morning. Although there was somebody working I’m not sure why that was a problem. The guy seemed like a total jerk and was extremely rude. I went on another occasion and apparently the grinder was not working, or so I was told.The final time I came I was looking for boneless short rib to be ground into hamburger for a recipe that I wanted to make on the grill. I came at 5:30 on a Sunday and was told they could not do it. I asked to speak with the manager just to see what the policy is because they have never been able to tell me when they are able to cut meat, you know since they are a butcher shop. The manager basically was tongue tied and couldn’t give me a reason except that the machine was already clean. When I asked him why they clean the machine almost 2 hours before they close he couldn’t give me an answer. Three strikes you’re out McKinnon’s. For the record I was only asking for a pound and a half it wasn’t like I was giving them this huge order. I was instructed that I could buy meat already ground up but I refuse to buy green hamburger.

Last Friday we shopped At McKinnons deli dept. I ordered a 1lb of Boars Head American cheese we didn’t eat any until Monday. To our shock we found little pieces of PLASTIC in between the slices. So we looked at every slice carefully and found several pieces of small plastic!!! I don’t think it is very healthy TO EAT PIECES OF PLASTIC!!! I will think twice about shopping in before I go back! I hope other people read and inspect your food before you eat it!!!!

Great place to shop, especially their meats! Fair price, awesome quality! Compared to the quality of steaks/chicken you get at MB/Demoulas. Give those to the dog! Keep up the great work and awesome products MCKinnons!! You are mowing the local grocery chain's lawns!!!

I'm not exactly sure what went wrong. I bought 5lbs of prime rib grade A today and cooked it it in a set it and forget it for 2 hours. Internal temp of meat was 140 like they told me. Let it sit for 15 minutes and it was tough as nails.

Lots of meat pretty well sums it up. If you watch the sales here, there's definitely an opportunity to save some money, but the meat selection is the main reason to visit McKinnon's. The seafood is very good here. Lots of gourmet cheese, wine and beer. Produce is excellent. Typically, we go here for meat only, but find one or two special ingredients, to make the meal complete. If you're looking for something a little different, or just want to stock up on steal tips, you'll certainly want to visit McKinnon's!

Shout out the the bakery Manager Ashley at the Salem NH McKinnon's for making my gf an amazing birthday cake. I was absolutely blown away by the detail, creativity and hard work that went into making the most incredible cake I've personally ever seen for a birthday cake. Thank you for all your effort. If anyone is interested in getting a custom cake made I couldn't think of a better cake decorator if I tried. I've had custom cakes made in the past at other prestigious local bakeries and they couldn't come close to pulling off what Ashley did. I'll be getting all my future cakes from McKinnon's because of her. ♥️🎂🍰

Bigger than normal meat selection and good prices. Good beer selection and giant muffins that are very good.Hot food bar is terrible. Ribs are way overly salty and is from frozen. Pretty much same for everything on the hot food bar and can't recommend.

It is always a great experience to shop at McKinnons in Salem, NH. Very clean store. Everyone is always very welcoming and helpful. Amazing butcher counter services and deli is outstanding. They always offer many sales and honestly great products. You can't go wrong with shopping at McKinnons😉. It's definitely worththe drive to visit them. If you haven't shopped at any of the locations you are in for a whole new shopping experience once you go😉

I shop here for all of my food needs now I don't care that it's a little far away! Better steaks the. Any other supermarket, good deil and a awesome beer selection! But if you haven't had the cowboy steak tips they have you are missing out! Best steaks I have ever bought that came pre marinated and packaged!

Seafood buyer beware - scallops are previously frozen even though not marked. I’m actually not even sure they are authentic scallops. Will never shop here again. The service has always been poor but I overlooked it for selection.Cheeses are past due date…Completely disgustedThank you for your quick response. While I appreciate your attentiveness, it is simply not reflected at the store level. I truly understand the challenges of retail especially in these trying times. Unfortunately, my experiences have been consistently below expectations- I can assure you I have found past due dates on most visits. I understand the time consuming nature of rotating food to ensure FIFO - I’m simply past the point of trying any longer. Best of luck.

Only reasons I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is I bought a family pack of chicken quarters and out of the 4 quarters… one of them was just a leg with a flap of skin making it look like there was a thigh attached when there wasn’t. I’m assuming it was just a fluke though. Everything else In regards to meat seemed like great cuts/and pretty close to market basket prices just better quality. However anything else such as shelf items I will go somewhere else because I can find better deals - but don’t let that deter you from their store! May be worth it to go to two stores now adays!

This is a great place, the associates are so helpful and friendly, you can tell they love working there. Meats are all excellent quality and if you have a question don't feel embarrassed to ask, these people are the best

I have no problem with the food here but I go there for lunch often and every once in a while there is a manager in front and he's always redirecting the line and telling people to move to the back of the line. It's usually run very smoothly when he's not there but when he is there he is rude, unfriendly, and unkind when asking people to move. I was there Saterday and every customer in line with me was not happy with his conduct. Good food but not worth dealing with him and the aggravation he brings!

I’ve been shopping here since the day they opened. It’s a nice store with good variety and in house cooked foods. HOWEVER I would have to say that a lot of the staff are Just a Horrible. Especially the Deli!! Just terrible ignoring workers that make you feel your absolutely not welcome to order anything! And no matter how you politely ask your preferences of slicing they Absolutely ignore you! I get home and just end up throwing out expensive meats and cheeses . I don’t go to their deli anymore amd they’ve lost an excellent customer that spent a lot in their regularly . You’d think they’d seriously do something about this obvious problem. No need for it. Prepared food counter not self serve very close to becoming just as bad as the deli! Think I’ll be looking for a new place to shop by 2022

A great selection of meat cuts and different flavors and seasonings, as well as a decent seafood selection. If you watch for it there are always good deals happening. Some other items are a bit pricey and you only buy them out of convenience. I also recommend their rotisserie chicken, one of the best around; as well as their cupcakes and pound cakes: flavorful and not too sweet.

The minute you walk in the smell of fresh deliciousness hits you. The meat here is amazing. My son loves the carrot cake muffins and red velvet muffins. The desserts are crazy good as well!! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Prices are a bit higher but worth it for the quality you are getting.

The cashier wouldn’t say a word to us, just handed the receipt over and started gossiping with the woman in line behind us. We waited a good 15 minutes at an empty meat counter for anyone to acknowledge us, even though we watched them look up several times and not ask if we needed anything. The man who finally seemed incredibly annoyed we needed anything was awful. So rude, acting like we were a huge inconvenience to his day. We won’t be returning.

Always have a great selection of meat products. The King Crab legs are fantastic. The marinated meats are always perfect. For on the go the pre made meals are also excellent. They have a good section of Wines and Beer along with an Olive bar and cheese that compliment any meal. Sign up for the rewards program too!!
