The staff here are wonderful, from the grooming ( they were able to take out dog as a walk-in today in between grooming appointments to get a nail trim), to the staff on the floor, everyone is so helpful. By ordering online and picking it up at the store, I was able to save 20% on my items! Excellent experience here at Petco!

Had a great experience. My dog went in for a shampoo/blow-dry and looked fabulous when she came out. And, a week later she still smells good (an amazing feat!). Our dog was treated well and came home happy.

I recently bought numerous fish from your Portsmouth NH location. I was very impressed by the wide range of choices in aquatics of both fish and live plants. Plus they all look very healthy. I have been to a lot of suppliers in the area because I just picked up the hobby again, and that store wins hands down for my vote as the best aquarium supply for fish selection in the area. Whoever is running the show truly cares.

Just got my dogs 3 year rabies vaccination right inside of Petco, they have a delicious looking doggy dessert bar with all kinds of homemade treats for your pet... My dog loved it!

Not good. It took 20 minutes to find some one to get me fish. I bought 8 the day before yesterday and 3 have already died. I should have known better when I watched a woman stick her bare unwashed hands in a tank and grab a fish to throw it in another tank. When the fish didn't eat it she reached in and grabbed it with her hands, drop the poor thing on the floor, pick it up and toss it in the first tank. Aside from being horrible to the animals it was clearly unsanitary.

Would give zero stars if I could. Went in looking for a specific brand I wasn’t sure if they carried (my dog has allergies) I asked the only employee I saw at the register if the had it after searching myself. She just told me “guess not if you can’t find it yourself” personally it’s fine they didn’t have it I just wanted to know for the future since going there is easier/faster than online/loyal companion. Kinda expected her to at least search it or recommend something similar. But nope. I picked some other treats on my own so she rang them in both had a buy one get one 50% off sign. The total she told me didn’t reflect that when I’ve asked why she just rolled her eyes & cancelled it before I could even say okay or anything. Not friendly. Seriously just rude unhelpful and definitely gave me reason to never go back this Petco or any other again. I’ll just stick to chewy and loyal companion even if it takes longer and/or is out of the way. Money much better spent.

The fish tanks were covered in grime. Half of the fish are dead and stuck up in the filters. Half of the reptiles do not look healthy. Only good thing is their stock of pet supplies. Not even the staff are good they don't know what they are talking about and refer you to a different pet shop for advice.

Go to petSmart down the road by best buy!Way cleaner, we'll staffed, and an up to date pet store.Petco has been declining for years at this location. I don't see it improving anytime soon.

However, the personnel is Still AWESOME; friendly, helpful, knowledgeable!!9/19/23 Google wants update..... Petco is still awesome!! Shadow had his spa day 2 weeks ago; he loved it and many comments on how good he looked! He was showered worth luv the whole time -- thank you Ashley & Lisa, Shadow loves you and you rock!They still have lots for your pets and good prices! I'm still a loyal customer! :)

I like this store, they are stocked well and convenient location. They always have clearance toys for my dog and awesome treats. The reward program is excellent and we love the repeat delivery. Always arrives right on time so we don't have a lot of extra dog food. I love Petco!

Very helpful fish 🐟, reptile 🦎, and amphibian department look for a guy who is about 5'11, with glasses, and Sandy hair. He's very knowledgeable and he'll tell you what fish work with others and what not to combine and how many fish you should have for what size tank and nearly everything else.

I love Petco!!! I keep fish and I love to go in there and see what kind of fish the have in stock, even if I don't need any fish. Any time I am out and I have any extra time I always got to Petco. The staff are so nice and caring. I always have long talks with them about fish keeping. I just love going there so much!

The employee that was working in the fish department I think his name was Jarod is 100% the reason for my scores. He was amazing answered every question helped me build my tank was super knowledgeable and was great and patient to my boys who can be a handful. He answered all their kid questions and even though I was getting annoyed with them he made my boys feel like they were wanted in the conversation. He was the best and I've actually encouraged all of my friends to go and see him. Great employee and hope you guys will never let him go.

This Petco has an awesome fish department! They have a larger and more unique selection than most of the other locations I’ve been to (besides Manchester). I have lots of aquariums. I am a long time fresh water fish keeper and have recently started my first saltwater tank. This Petco has been my go-to on my saltwater journey. I try to do my research before purchasing but can be guilty of impulse shopping .. and usually the people working the department are very helpful, knowledgeable, and fish lovers themselves. Fish here seem very healthy and well cared for.

I went in the store for some plants for my fish tank. At allot of pet stores it seems to take forever to get help in the fish section. On this particular day it was busy specifically in fish. The one person working in the fish section was already working with another customer when I and another customer arrived. They called for help and two other associates came to help. I was impressed by their response. Great job! Keep it up!

Tanks always look good and simply cannot find the same fish selection anywhere else. Employees are reasonably knowledgeable and very helpful. Lose a point because it can regularly take 10+ minutes to get service, and by regularly I mean 8 out of 10 times. Staffing shortage? I find it worth it though for the selection and quality of the fish. I have 2 Petcos and 3 Petsmarts that are closer to me than this store and I still ONLY go here, if that means anything.

I wish I could give less than one star. Let's just say after standing in line for 15-20 minutes without so much as being acknowledged while the cashier went on and on about things that the customer could have easily looked up or accomplished online and then talking about personal things I set my items down and walked out. Will never go back! Chewey.com is cheaper,ships free and has way better customer service!! Just sayin

I took my dog in to schedule an appointment for a grooming because I couldn't reach on phone. Covid short staffed was my thought. They happen to have a space right at time I went in so needless to say it saved me a trip. My dog is a chihuahua and skittish and the girl was great with her. I will be back again!

I stop in to this location every week to grab some random things for my dog. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about their products and where they are located in the store. It's always very clean and pets are welcome! They're always grooming pets when I come which is great to see through their open windows design. You won't be disappointed shopping here.

The fish section (my main reason for going, as there aren't too many options in the area for fish) has improved greatly in the past few years. What once were plain with no decoration and a lack of variety have become planted tanks with clearly a lot of care put into them. Very impressed for a chain pet store - this is the kind of thing they all should strive for.

The staff was really helpful, one young man helped me out a lot with dog foods, the little lady at the register is always sweet and kind. My only issue is that I can never get the kind of dry dog food I need, and when It is on the shelf, there is only one or two 6 pound bags,.

Not a fan of chains really. But this is a good store. I been doing dog training with Joanne and she is great. Also the groomer Ashley is wonderful and always super sweet to my dog Mabel. Mabel and I have learned a lot. So 5 stars for the people that work here they are all super nice and love pets.

I recently bought a pacman frog from this store I received great customer service from an associate named Sean. He really knew what he was talking about and seemed very content with dealing with our questions. We had a lot of questions and looked at many different animals and again Sean was very knowledgeable and gave us great customer service. Five stars very very happy this is following a bad experience at woof woof meow in Dover on Central Ave.
