I have been a customer of theirs since they opened. Since they opened their standards for what they carry in the store have been second to none, their home baked goods are amazing. I can tell that as my dog(s) react different to theirs than any others. And I know they make them with healthy ingredients. The owners are very nice people who just want to give the best for the animals in our lives. Anything you get from them you can have confidence in, both in how much your dog would like it, and you as well.

Portsmouth local here, and I’m not one to review places but this store is a must. My wife and I just recently got a pup, and Bill there has been extremely helpful and knowledgeable. It’s very evident the owners of this store are very enthusiastic and are happy to take their time walking you through every question you might have. The dedication and time they spend with us each time we go on in speaks volumes to why we keep coming back and love supporting our local shops. Special thanks to you Bill! Ziti loves you guys!

Love the toy and collar and leash selection! Really great gift ideas and to bring home to the pup as a vacation souvenir. Also really nice bags that allow you to fashionably carrier a smaller pup. Gourmet dog cookies are awesome too!

What a find!This dog- friendly store is packed with dog toys / food / leashes / collars, etc.They also have a great selection of healthy dog snacks.You can tell that the people who own this store love dogs.I was also very impressed by how neat and clean the entire store was.I believe that the gentleman working there at the time, is one of the owners.He was super friendly, helpful patient and with us.This is my new "go to" store for all of my puppy's needs.

Excellent store! The owner was super patient and helpful as we explored different harnesses and toys for our very excited puppy. Great selection of treats, toys, and anything else you may need for your pup. Would highly recommend this shop.

Speaking on behalf of our two dogs, this is a canine paradise in downtown Portsmouth. A sensory overload of treats and a wide variety of food is combined with friendly and knowledgeable service. Canine accessories are also available. Our dogs start pulling their leashes toward the Canine Cupboard from blocks away.

Easily my favorite pet store out there. I have family that lives in Portsmouth, and whenever I go up to visit and go downtown, Canine Cupboard is always one of our first stops. Some of the friendliest, most knowledgable staff of any pet store I've visited, and their merchandise is very reasonably priced for the high quality you receive. Highly recommend stopping by when you're in Portsmouth!

Bill and Maribeth are awesome - we have been going to their store for many years. They've always been extremely friendly, responsive, and helpful. A few years ago, when we found out our corgi had cancer, their warmth and empathy helped us through a tough time. When we had trouble housebreaking another corgi, Bill - unsolicited - printed out helpful articles he had found for us on the topic. Quality products, excellent customer service, and a longstanding locally-owned business - highly recommend!

We have been visiting Canine Cupboard for 19 years. They not only have a wide variety of homemade dog treats they have boutique dog foods, leashes, collars and toys. It's our favorite place to visit with our dog when we visit Portsmouth. Tell Bill and Maribeth hi and that I sent you.

I have been bringing my dog here since he was about 12 weeks old. The owner is unbelievably kind. The prices are reasonable and I love their leash/collar selection.

Store had little quantity and prices were sky high. The one employee sitting behind the counter didn't welcome me to the store, or offer any help. Didn't even look up from his computer. Very poor customer service. Do yourself a favor and skip this store for your pet needs.
