Very helpful and informative staff. New to NH and very much appreciate all the help. They even took the the heavy stuff to my car. 1 mile further than another hardware store but worth it.

Friendly staff, helpful, and a number of assorted "niche" items to help get the job done. Not the best pricing, but fair. It is a hardware store that is privately owned, so that is to be expected.VERY easy to miss from the road, and the entrance is poorly marked. Do not be surprised if you have to make a few u-turns on your first trip there.Hard to find item? Start here.

Yeah this is the local hardware store in the area there isn't one between a box stores box stores are like to bookends and this door is in the middle now I can tell you with today's economy and with the prices if you were to go to one of those box stores what you paid for gasoline and the price of the item you were buying it probably would have been cheaper for you to go to this hardware store they would have been maybe a little cheaper or or they're about the same in pricing and you didn't have to drive 15 miles either way and back they've been to staple in the community very knowledgeable all the staff you walk in there and tell him what you need they're going to tell you what I'll go to what's your office on it's just a Time saver you know it's very convenient and be ashamed for these kinds of stores to shut down or keep shutting down because then we're going to bet you about driving that 15 mi and back and forth that's a 30 mi round trip what are you saving support the local guy here all the local stores.

Very expensive. You better know exactly what you want don’t expect much help it is hit or miss. The owner son works there and he is extremely rude to the staff and customers. If you know exactly what you need and are willing to pay extra for it to save yourself a trip to Concord then the store can be very useful. They do have a good selection for a small store.

Maxfield's is great. I don't have to go there often, but when I do I can usually get what I'm looking for if no where else. Plus they have some cool stuff no one else carries..Staff are great

Good overall selection at average prices.The time and gas saved is worth the extra 15% spent. It's nice not having to wade thru a bunch of people too.

How this store remains in business is a complete mystery. The staff is horribly rude. We drive to Alton or Concord to avoid going to this ridiculous excuse of a hardware store. The previous owners and staff were a delight. We have toyed with the idea of buying the store just to get rid of the current owners so Pittsfield can once again have a decent hardware store in town.

Here for many generations you can find a HUGE selection of anything you'll find at a big box store but it's local, familiar and has friendly and helpful staff. It's really silly to drive all the way to Concord etc. Keep our local businesses alive!

In my whole life I have never encountered a Manager that works at Maxfields that was extremely rude to the point of over the top rude.. I have a Medical issue and wear ID that says I can not wear a mask, but to no avail. One of the managers there yelled and screamed at me and made are spectacle while in checkout and was I forced to leave because I did not wear a mask. The owner stepped in and calmed the situation but with no apology did he make. I understand talking to others that this manager has been very rude to others and his staff . In My opinion. Great small town hardware. Always greeted with a smile and friendly "Hello". Great place to find hard to get hardware. Staff always ready to offer advice and suggestions on my current projects and offer solutions for challenges and potentially disaster points .

Great local location for hardware needs. Though, slightly overpriced sometimes it easier to go here instead of running into Concord. They do carry propane and appear to always have it in stock. When in a pinch I would say visit maxfields.

The staff are great the prices are typical small hardware store prices, but the service you get as a customer is incomparable home depot and lowest have nothing on Maxfield's. I enjoy every visit and continue to shop here

**Horrible Customer Service; Lack of effort / Disrespectful** This afternoon I needed to run a few errands. I needed to hit the dump and match up some paint for the trim in my son's room. The trim paint came from Home Depot, but the HD is not on the way to the dump, so I decided to go to Maxfield's to save time seeing it's right on my route. I typically go to Maxfield's to refill my propane tanks and get Benjamin Moore paint. I figured they could match up the old paint in a snap and save me a good hour of my time. I arrived at Maxfield's with my old paint can in hand (about ½' of paint left in can) and headed to the paint counter feeling good about the time I was going to save. An employee (turned out to be the owner) came to the counter to help me; Me: Slight issue, could you match this up for me please? (I open the can to show the paint inside. It's a little discolored because it hadn't been mixed)Paint Guy: (Looks in the can) I can't do it, that's sludge.Me: Really? (While a grabbing a paint stick to stir it up). Just needs to be stirred (Stirring) – look at it now.Paint Guy: Nope, can't do it.Me: (Absolutely puzzled) Other places do this all the time.Paint Guy: Who?Me: Home DepotPaint Guy: I know my machine.Me: Fine, I'm outta here – I'll never come back here again.Paint Guy: I'm crushed.I went to Home Depot. They didn't even bat an eye. I told the girl at the counter this story and she was horrified. Thanks Home Depot for doing your job and respecting your customer! Maxfield's – you lost my business. I will never shop there again.

Great hardware store that's in the middle of nowhere! I save lots of gas and time using Maxfield's instead of going in to one of the big box stores in town.If they don't have what you need, they can help you with a different way of fixing it.

Has been around along time I remember going to maxfields downtown with my grandfather when I was a kid. They have pretty much anything you need. Prices are a bit higher than I'd you travel to Concord though.
