Since my family bought a home in Pittsfield 2 months ago I’ve liked shopping at family dollar. Until this morning when I was on a walk with 3 of my kids in the stroller and my dog on the leash. When we walked inside the store and my son was holding a Prime drink and immediately inside the door the cashier yells “There’s no food or drinks in here” so I said okay I’m just grabbing diapers and put his prime into my stroller. She then LEAVES her cashier post where she was checking people out and had a line. Chases me and my kids to the diaper isle. And then again tells us this “rule” I said I’m just grabbing diapers, I’m not going to leave my sons drink outside to be messed with by anyone since we’re clearly on a walk. She then reached her hand into my stroller and pulled out an old Starbucks drink that was empty and had been sitting in there. And told me she’d have to charge me for these drinks if I came to the check out. I told her how they don’t even sell the prime drink my son had just gotten at rite aid. She said she’d charge me for the Starbucks which she clearly knew I didn’t get there since she followed me. I said okay I’ll just go buy diapers at rite aid and left. Harassing customers and a horrible way to treat customers assuming everyone is there to steal?

This store will wrongly accuse you of stealing for no reason. I spend way too much money there and frequent the store multiple times a day sometimes when it is actually open. Store is a joke.

Update to my last review: my last review was 11 months ago and I would have reduce the amount of stars to 0 if I could, but the lowest I can go is one. The main reasons I am changing my review is because the isles are nothing short of dangerous. If you are handicapped and try to get in the door, you can't unless someone holds it for you. There is so much clutter in the aisles that it creates a tripping hazard for anyone. I won't even limit it to disabled adults. Children are at risk too. Also, the employees who smoke do so right by the door, so that creates a health hazard for customers who may have breathing problems or allergies to cigarette smoke. I asked the girl not to smoke so close to the door and she blew me off. And then when she came in, she happened to be the cashier on duty, and I told her the reason I asked her to move away from the door was that the wind was blowing her cigarette smoke in front of the door. I also informed her of how dangerous it is to get certain items in the store because of the clutter everywhere, and she got an attitude and said she was only one person. I said then instead of standing out front smoking, you could be cleaning up some of the mess in the aisles if you're on the clock. I told her I would call her manager. She said go right ahead. I said nevermind, I'll write a one-star Google review it has a greater effect, because it will reflect badly on the company as a whole. Then maybe they will do something about it. Also, for a place that's supposed to be a discount store the prices are higher than a normal grocery store. I live in a town where we don't have access to a chain grocery store, so people are kind of stuck if they don't have transportation to have to shop in a place like this.

The Manager is awesome! She definitely puts her whole heart and soul to keep the store running awesome!! Also to take time out and patience for helping with the customers needs or wants. I'm not one to like many people but I sure think she awesome!!

I know how hard it is to keep help anywhere these days, but Nancy is doing a great job holding that place together. Shes always friendly and takes time out of her busy day to help me when I need it. I'm glad the store is close by because I don't always have the time to drive to Concord.

Wow!! That store absolutely sucks. Opening whenever they feel like it. Can't keep help, because nobody wants to work there. You know why, cause they fire everybody. The store was running just fine when Kayleigh and Missy was in charge, but guess what?? THEY FIRED THEM!!

Overall I like this store&location,the evening staff was a little bit rude tonight,maybe just a bad night though because they are usually pretty good. I have a bigger issue with the fact that they have a sign on their door that states no admittance without a face covering(due to the covid 19 corona virus)yet none of the staff had one on themselves! I have been in during the day and seen daytime staff all wearing one,so a little surprised that the evening staff wasn't!

The clerks are very pleasant. Had a bad experience with a loaf of bread that tasted like perfume. I think they spray the store and it was absorbed into bread.my only unpleasant experience.

Just a typical discount dollar store. There is one girl Karlie, who really makes customers feel welcome.Edited on 8-23-17. I've just given the store 5 stars based entirely on the decision to make Karlie the store manager. Great choice whomever decided. Always a friendly place when she's there.Good luck Karlie.

Though I have mentioned it several times in the past they don't offer any of the sports drinks in a sugar free option. Cashier was flat out rude! Not a good shopping experience at all 😒

small town with a captured customer based. Prices rarely match actual prices selves bare and under staffed. Some staff including mamger seem to not care about the store the customer or their job.

The place was trashed, employees were a mess and had earphones in. The guy at the register was complaining about all the over time he had been working. On the good side they had whT I was looking for.

Store was a dump. Aisles filled with stock carts, so many things unpriced. Store was unshopable. Now remember why I stopped shopping there.

Store opens at 9:00 am not 8:00 am, tired of the inconsistent opening times,needs to be posted somewhere so people don't waste their time traveling over there

Items are in stock but this store is ALWAYS a huge mess with stock carts everywhere making you strategically shop aisles you cant get down.

Slightly claustrophobic inside, not everything is a dollar at this family dollar, and I did have to wait for someone at checkout even though I was the only one in the store.
